Wanted to give myself a break so booked a room to relax over the weekend. I remember my stay in Dorsett HK and it was fine. I checked in and got an upgrade and was initially quite pleased.

The room was neat and clean. The staff were friendly. However, the conditions of the room were very disappointing!

WiFi - Going on and off
Bathtub - There’s a bathtub but the tap attached has got no hot water
Toilet seat - Cannot stay open and it felt like you need to ‘carry’ something when you sit down
Toilet pump - Not strong. (And this is Singapore)
Aircon - Need 2-3 hours to be cool
Towel - Old and tattered. Although no weird smell, but the condition is bad
Bed/Pillow - Not in good condition

All in all, it’s definitely NOT WORTH THE PRICE!

This hotel is only 10 years old and there’re older hotels with better conditions that I’ve stayed. What happened? I thought they just had a makeover??

Everything showed that it’s under maintenance! I felt like I’ve been ‘transported’ to some small rundown town in a 3rd world country! And this is Singapore! For a fact, I can find a boutique/budget hotel with better conditions and pay lesser.

This is supposed to be a 4-star hotel, I think the status needs to be re-evaluated. It absolutely feels more like a 3-star!

Also, the breakfast itself cost SGD49! If you look at the cafe, you’ll not pay for it.

The upgraded room I had cost over SGD320. Like I said, one can easily find a better option with this price.

I particularly want to commend the GM for making an effort for the Grand Prix weekend. The drinks etc & the opportunity to meet with guests & staff was fabulous. Would definitely stay here again. The location is also brilliant

Like: convenient, connected to the train station directly with lots of interesting cafes/ restaurants nearby.

Dislike: very dated and old from furnishing to the curtain etc, poor soundproofing, strong smell of thinner from their level 3, felt like vomiting and giddy after smelling that for 1 min after we exited the lift in search of the gym/pool. Tried calling the reception / operator multiple times at 10-11am but no one pick up. Not sure if this can be called a 4 star hotel.

Comfortable Hotel in a Great Location

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of a three week holiday in Malaysia and Vietnam and chose this hotel due to its location, swimming pool and price.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
The room was small but that’s standard for Singapore, and the space was used effectively. A couple of coat hooks would have made better use of one of the walls. The bed was comfortable and the shower powerful with plenty of hot water.
The location was superb. The MRT Outram Park station is accessible from the hotel lobby. This makes getting around really easy.
The rooftop swimming pool is very pleasant although the sunbeds are a little worse for wear. It’s great for a quick swim to cool down in the afternoon. It would be nice to be able to get a drink by the pool but unfortunately this is not allowed.
I think this is a great hotel for a couple of nights but if I was staying longer I think I’d choose somewhere else just because I’d like to spend time relaxing by a pool with a cocktail and something to eat. Apart from that, I can’t really fault the hotel. It was perfect for our needs.

Hotel needs some updates in the rooms and with regards to the pool area. Bar was always closed and breakfast wasn’t great. Location is great for mtr which is great to travel around Singapore.

the staff are friendly and helpful and accommodative.

the hotel has a swimming pool and gym which i greatly appreciate.

the room is comfortable and spacious and clean.

my only complaint is that the \"do not disturb\" and \"make up my room\" buttons were a bit confusing to use, and one on the buttons wasnt functional.

Cosy, expensive but comfy

The location is undeniably SUPERB but to contact any concierge staff in the day is a headache coz it’s almost impossible to get hold of one as their lines are too busy. I tried calling more than 30x straight in a row. However once you get to talk to them, you’ll understand how courteous and professional they render their services to you.

Upon arrival, the staff promptly attended to me and also assisted to allow earlier check-in for my convenience. I find this service heartwarming.

The room is small but cosy enough for us. Cleanliness is also ok. Basic amenities have been provided. No minibar but there’s a bar fridge, electric kettle, iron, ironing board, digital safe & torchlight. TV should be 32” and provides a comfy distance for watching from your bed.

Shower room has no bathtub and also no restaurant for daily breakfast but it’s no big deal when you know all eateries are just right beside and around the vicinity of the hotel. What I loved about the room is the anti-slip treatment they have done for the bathroom floor. It’s super useful and safe for anyone, particularly good for elderly during shower time. Pool is small & quite well-maintained but it’s shared with the apartment residents.

Price is expensive for the hotel but overall we had a great time. Check-out was such a breeze that took no more than 20 seconds. My regret was their FM staffs only then started to put up Xmas decor so we didn’t get to take any Xmas pics, it’s quite a pity.

The security there are rude n not friendly at all
I was sitting at lobby after shopping around 11pm
The security came out and ask me an I staying at this property at Dorsett and I said yes and He said I’m not allowed to sit at lobby after midnight, I thought that was Singapore law, after midnight I’m not allowed to sit at the lobby. Next day I went to the front desk and ask, the front desk people said you can sit as long as want and I went file a complaint about the security. I will never stay at this Dorsett hotel again. You don’t feel welcome there

Many little annoyances

Stay was fine, but there were many little annoyances I would not expect at a 4 star hotel. Tv channels with static/untuned, no PowerPoint in bathroom for hairdryer, my access card didn’t provide access to pool and gym, needing recoding, works underway on the pool, elevator call button not working, tear in pillow case, thin towels.
None of these things significant but added together they amounted to a disappointment.
Staff were terrific at every interaction though, and they were accommodating of my room requests. Location was good and quiet.

The location is great if you are taking the metro to hit tourist locations. It's about 5-10 minutes walk to Chinatown, 10-15 minutes walk to Maxwell Centre and sits right on top of Outram station which has 3 different lines (including an airport one).

Great property with perfect location for food, sightseeing, transportation, near China Town Market and food court. The staff at this hotel were phenomenal! They assisted us throughout our stay with directions, baggage, reservations, sightseeing and any and all other questions or assistance needs that arose during our stay! Towels were old, stained, tattered. One had a large hole in it. Housekeeping never did a good clean and make up of the room. Rooms are tired and worn out, yet this is a fairly new hotel. For the price, very disaapointing. Will not stay here again

It’s well located at a MRT station on multiple lines. Close to Chinatown for food etc.

The rooms are older and small and things like the buttons to make up the room weren’t working.

The pool is outdoors and has a great view and the water is lovely. It’s long enough to do laps.

The nicest thing about this hotel is the leather case that holds the remote control. The mini fridge in our room leaked, so the carpet was wet, damp and smelt of mould. We told reception staff that water was leaking from under the fridge, they did nothing. Check in staff were cold, unwelcoming and unfriendly. We loved the Dorsett brand because of our stay in Mongkok (Hong Kong) but this hotel made us wish we stayed at an Ibis.

This property was perfect for what we needed. We had a 24 hour layover and was able to leave our luggage safely with the staff until check in. We walked to Chinatown and took the MRT around, which was helpful, as there is a stop directly next to the hotel. Staff was kind and helpful!

Very good hotel at a great location. Right in Chinatown and next to the Outram Park MRT station it is very convenient for shopping, eating and sightseeing. Rooms are good size, clean and modern with all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The hotel was good for getting over jet lag and convenient via transit from Changi Airport. It's rating as a 4 star hotel is not accurate, rather a good 3 star. Rooms are small and tight for two people and the pool was a nice feature. We stayed 3 days before proceeding to our focus destinations in Malaysia.

Poorly maintained hotel not worth the price

Hotel room was too small, poorly maintained and old. AC does not work well. Pillows uncomfortable. Maintenance and housekeeping was average. Staff slow, cold and mechanical with no flexibility or customer orientation. Location is convenient, but the price is much with only this singular advantage.

On the edge of China town so good access there. Not that far from down town, walkable or you can jump on the MRT, with an underground station with multiple lines right near the Hotel. Staff were helpful especially Farid, appreciate the assistance. Room was clean and comfortable with separate shower and bath. Nice pool to cool off in.
