the building is older, and on the last 36 hours of our trip they where doing heavy work inside the room and that woke us up at a time i would consider kinda early. it is a no frills hotel so dont expect western amount of aminenities like a pool, but the staff is friendly and helpful. They do have a coin laundry which makes it nice when planning a trip meaning you can pack lite and wash as you go. Also the property is close to pubs so if your a night owl amd want to get a taste of local night life its an ideal location. and it is walking distance to akihabara. Overall i would give it a 5/5 rating, barring the minor problem at the end.

Location was pretty good, about 3 blocks from :JR station Okachimachi, one or two blocks from 3 different Subway lines so easy to get around from here. Room was pretty good, as was internet, although did have some problems staying connected,but was fast enough when hooked up.. Only real complaint was coffee and breakfast at the hotel not available till 8am. We had to run across the street every morning to get coffee at the Family Mart. At least it was close. Sun comes up at arround 6 am (late October) so don't get the breakfast if you want an early start.Only other minor complaint is they use regular keys and want you to give them the key when you leave and show them a piece of paper when you return. With 2 people this can be problematic if you go different ways and you're not sure who will return first.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this hotel; location, service, service-mind of front office (especially the young lady which I couldn't remember her name, truly sorry, that tried to help us in contacting attraction we'd like to go and use only Japanese!)
The only thing that I felt a bit unpleasant was a musty smell from their bed sheet and blanket; might be because it's rainy season

Great at location. But there is only stairs can be reach to the reception desk, so it is difficult for someone have heavy suit-cases to carry. Nice hotel since I lived in Ueno area for several different hotels, This is the best.

Room smelt bad and had a linking problem. Staff was sort of nice, but they were not eager to make your stay comfortable and their English is so limited that you have to be very patient to ask for anything.

Convenient Location

Location of hotel is excellent, very close to Yushima station, and not far from other stations too. Food and convinent store are all around the area too. Area surrounding hotel itself is quiet. Reception operates 24 hour is a plus. The only down side maybe the air-conditioning, it is either too warm or too cold, not easy to set the temperature just right. Will definitely return for the next trip to tokyo.

Staff was helpful. Location is great, within walking distance of two subway stations, Ueno Park, and Keisei and JR rail. Room was clean and although tight, satisfactory since we spent little time in the room. The hotel was remodeling, which might account for not fixing a broken closet door. We did not eat in the hotel, but there are very many places of various kinds to eat nearby.

Enjoyed my stay

The hotel is conveniently close to the metro and a few convenience stores and restaurants. The room was small but that's typical in Japanese hotels. The staff was friendly and even let us store our bags for a couple of hours after we checked out. The hotel is near ueno park and akihabara which are two must go places, so I would recommend this place to friends or stay here again.

Beware...

My review, this isn't a hotel. Its a motel or a upgrade hostel. You have to give your room key to reception when you get out and ask again when you return back. I requested a non smoking area, once I was in the room I can smell smoke. And gives me a headache. I requested to another room with no avail.

Convient budget hotel close to Akihabara

I've been to Japan several times and can speak some Japanese. The reception staff are helpful though they are not able to speak English (This is common in Japan).

The hotel does not use a key card system. You need to get your room keys from the front counter with your booking ticket (given to you during check in) to get to your room. You will also need to return the keys back to the front when you are heading out. For the price of the hotel this is a very minor inconvenience for the price you are getting.

If you are looking to be close to Akihabara and on budget. This would be a good hotel to go to as it is located outside of the main Akihabara shopping area and you are still within walking distance of Ueno.

Pretty old hotel...

This hotel is pretty old. Interior pretty worn out. Location is near to Yushima subway, walking distance to Keisei Ueno as well as Okachimachi. Night bars as well as restaurants are nearby.

This hotel is great for location and price.

All staff are nice and efficient.

Upon registering they provide a choice of toiletries / beauty products to choose from. Nice added touch !

Close to multiple subway lines, major JR Lines and the express airport train Skyliner. Also tons of things to see in Ueno and walking distance to Akihabara.

Room was clean and furnishings, especially in bathroom, appeared new.

Room had a fridge and kettle. Mate tea bags provided daily.

Coffee with free re-fills available for 100 Yen on main floor which was nice. We enjoyed it.
There were tables and chairs where the coffee machine is. We would bring back food and eat in there occasionally planning our day before setting out.

Cannot comment on the breakfast as we didn't eat at the hotel (breakfast room in basement).

Room was quite small.
I would suggest the hotel provide foldable luggage racks.

I would definitely stay here again for location, price, convenience and cleanliness.

Good place to stay

Stayed 4 nights and loved it. Room was on the smaller side, but comfortable. Beds were good (twin room), bathroom is fine. Location is excellent - 4 subway stations on 4 different lines within 5 min walk + easy access to Narita. You can get anywhere in Tokyo within 30 min.

I had an early morning flight to Narita from New Delhi. I arrived at the hotel around 8:30 in the morning. I had already booked this hotel. The hotel had me pay the previous day's rent before giving me the room.
This is the first time I had such a bad experience from a hotel Hotel. I travel to around 5 countries every year. I never faced this.

Loved it! Right in bewteen Ueno and Akihabara!

I loved our stay here. The room was small, but its not like we were there much anyway. The location was perfect and the staff was very friendly; one woman even spoke English very well! She was only there in the morning so at night if you don't know a single word of Japanese you might struggle a bit. The free WiFi offered here made our trip so much easier because we could constantly look things up and stay in contact with family/friends at home. My only complaint is that the dryer does not dry. I had to hang dry all of my clothes after spending a good amount of money doing multiple dryer cycles. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, especially Otakus, and also to get an early start on your laundry so that your clothes will be dry by morning.

Hotel room very small, no wardrobe or drawers for clothes or space to put suitcases. Small sofa in room just taking up vital floor space.
Very clean though and staff really helpful. Ideal location for travelling around, very close to stations and also to Ueno Park - beautiful place to spend looking at the shrines and temples, lake, many museums and zoo.
Hotel suited to short stay rather than long.

Very good staff, decent location

This hotel is in a good location for getting to and from Narita. It's a short walk from the Skyliner terminus. The nearest stop on the Yamanote line, which encompasses almost everything worth seeing in Tokyo is Okachimachi about 5 minutes walk away. Okachimachi is three stops from Tokyo station, one from Akihabara the electronics district. The Asakusa district where the sensoji temple is, is also nearby. Shinjuku and Shibuya nightlife areas are about 25 minutes on the train. In short, it's a good location, it's also fairly cheap and the staff are really helpful. The rooms are clean and the hotel was very quiet for the two nights I was there. And lastly it is close to a tiny, quirky counter bar that opens onto the street, where the energetic mama san plays keyboard and sings for the customers!

Not bad for the price

I needed a place to stay near Ueno, and this place was just right. The rooms are small, but that's the way it is in Japan. No wireless internet, but there is wired internet. You are within walking distance to Akihabara and Ueno. There's a convenience store right across the street.

The hotel is centrally located and well connected by three different railway lines.
Also there are are eating joints and convenience stores all around the hotel.
The staff though extremely helpful could work on their communication skills.
They are brusque to the point of being rude at times.
But for the location alone I would certainly stay their again. Also the pricing was within budget.

Pleasant and lively neighborhood, conveniently located and easy access to Tokyo other neighborhoods. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Hotel staff is friendly. Rooms are very small, but hotel is very clean. A great deal considering the price and location.

We really enjoyed our visit to Ueno First City Hotel. As everyone is saying, the rooms are a bit smaller but not super tiny and work just fine. I am 6\"1' and I felt very comfortable. There is no WIFI in the rooms but the wired Internet (cable supplied) is super fast. The area is very quiet and safe and has subway connections very close to the hotel. The hotel is very clean and everything was in working order. We stayed for five nights and would definitely stay again.

和室(畳)ではなく、空きスペースを個室化し、狭くてベッドが置けないから?布団が敷いてあるだけの部屋でした。加湿空気清浄機の水タンクは黒カビがびっしりで使う気になりませんでした。部屋自体の清潔感も今ひとつ。ただ、設備や備品は他の部屋と同じで不満はありません。
総合的に、他の普通の部屋より1泊あたり1000円くらい安いだけだったのでコスパは良くないです。

湯島駅から直ぐ。
フロントの対応も気持ち良かったです。
アメニティも沢山ありますが、目の前で出されるので、もう少しゆっくり選びたいかと。
お部屋はお掃除は行き届いていて綺麗ですが、古さは分かります。
タオル等々使い込んだ感じです。
廊下の声は聞こえます。
１人でゆったりするには十分です。
値段も手頃なので、リピしたいホテルです。

เดินทางไปมาสะดวกใกล้สถานีรถไฟฟ้าและอยู่ใกล้สถานที่ Shopping และร้านอาหารหลายร้านให้เลือกแบบจุใจ ถ้าใครพึ่งมาจากสถานีรถไฟฟ้าสนามบินนาริตะจะไปโรงแรมถ้าไม่อยากลากกระเป๋าก็สามารถเรียก Taxi ไปโรงแรมเพียง 1000 เยนเท่านั้น เพราะโรงแรมตั้งอยู้ใจกลางถนน Ueno โดยรวมถือว่าเป็นโรงแรมดีมากๆ

全館禁煙なのでタバコの臭いに悩まされることなく快適でした。女性用のアメニティも充実していて助かりました。素泊まりだったので部屋の広さも十分でした。
クローゼットが小さいのでコート掛け等のフックがあると、脱いだ服や濡れたタオルをかけたり便利かなと思います。

나리타 공항에서 접근성 좋음 (케이세이 본선 타면 갈아타지 않고 약 1:10정도 걸림. 요금은 1030엔)
청소나 관리상태는 좋음
직원 서비스는 친절한 편
방은 약간 좁아 캐리어를 열고 짐 정리하기 약간 불편
외출시마다 키를 카운터에 맏겨야 함
냉장고엔 생수 한병 안 들어있음 (단 걸어서 2~3분 거리에 편의점이 있음)
무료 wifi가 제공되나 저녁엔 사용자가 많아서 그런지 속도가 빠르지 않음
일회용 위생용품이 제공되나 샤워용 타월은 한개만 제공

部屋の清掃時間が終わるまで時間を潰そうと併設されているカフェに行くと食べたくもないのに食べ物を勧められ、あんまりお腹空いてないので大丈夫ですと断ると、それじゃあ飲み物はどうですかと飲みたくもないのに飲み物を勧められた。飲み物も大丈夫ですと断ろうと思ったが、スタッフさんがいつまでもそばにいて完全に断れない状況のため仕方なくカフェ・オレを注文。1人の自由時間が欲しかっただけなのにカフェに行かなければよかったと思ったのが率直な感想です。

One of the worst hotel i'have been. The services is horrible nobody is hable to speak english. I recive a smoking room but i never ask for a room like that. When i ask for change they tell me it's impossible and if i really inssit for a no smoking room i will be charged for the double of the price. The only answers i receive for everything i asked for was a \"no\". There is so much to say about this hotel. The hotel is old and under renovation, the room are ridicoulously small very difficult for 2 people to fit in. They cut the water in the middle of the day because of the renovation. And the goes on and on...
