We were here for our 45th anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful! The bar was fantastic and it was wonderful just sitting and relaxing at the end of the day in the furious sitting areas having a drink and choosing off of a various menu of things to snack on to Food items if you were hungry. The service was amazing the accommodations were all in order. The bags were very comfortable right down to the amazing linens! Excellent accommodations!

Booked a night here for our honeymoon so called ahead for flowers and chocolates in the room which they provided. Amazing hotel unique decor - attention to detail was amazing. So quiet and tranquil. Restaraunt was outstanding. Apparently Obama and Clooney have stayed here - if you have young children you have to buy the gorgeous hand crafted wool puppets, expensive but unique heirloom items!

This beautiful property maintains its historic charms and the location can’t be beat. The staff is very accommodating and treats the guests with utmost respect. The furnishings need some good cleaning but of course they are trying to keep the old world style which can be a challenge. Breakfast was lovely and the bar service was top notch. Expensive but worth the splurge.

It is a remarkable property. It is decorated in the 18th century, built in the 1300’s. Beautiful fabrics in the draperies and on the walls. Very old world and memorable. The staff is so kind and accommodating! It’s a little tricky to get to it, but well worth it!

An elegant embrace in the heart of old Avignon.

This 17th century chateau, converted to a luxury hotel a few decades ago, is a treasure in the heart of the walled city of Avignon. The rooms are spacious and elegant, with large, modern bathrooms. Service is impeccable. Although there can be minor language barriers at times, every employee goes above and beyond to make everything work with the magic that one can feel only in a special property like this.

After a particularly frazzling day to arrive at the La Mirande and be so kindly and enthusiastically greeted by the bellman/porter in the late evening was a genuine delight and relief. He took everything off my hands. It was an oasis of calm with clean, comfortable rooms in a fascinating setting. The complimentary breakfast had the widest range of offerings I have experienced on my journey thus far, and the staff was great. I recommend!

Beautiful hotel, fantastic service. The room upgrade was amazing. This hotel had the most beautiful rooms, (both my mom and I had lovely unique rooms) a salon to die for with fireplace and cognac. Breakfast was amazing and they treated us like gold. There are not that many rooms, it’s wonderfully quiet and there is a UNESCO site out the window for a view. I woke up to beautiful birds chirping. I can’t say enough about this place.

If there is any place that makes me say, I want to go back there, it is La Mirande in Avignon. Stylish rooms offer original 18th-century features, chandeliers, antique-style furnishings, paintings and art, a variety of pillows and comfortable beds. A breakfast buffet is served in a refined room or in the garden. The Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant offers a gastronomic journey around Provence. Adjacent to the Palais des Papes And right in the city center.

A yound and very friendly team hosted us. Not all very experienced in running a 5 star hotel but extremely forthcoming and friendly. The hotel is perfectly situated in the very heart of the town. The food was too fancy and the choice too limited but quality was very good.

I did not love this property- our rooms where heavily draped and dark- felt like I was in an attic - they were definitely very dusty as I am
An asthmatic and had multiple attack’s which rarely happens- but to top it off we woke up with a lizard running around our room and the front desk was the alarmed at all- did nothing. I slept with one eye open the next night- I never write reviews but I spent over 3k for 2 nights-
Also breakfast horrible- total rip off

This hotel is perfect. You really feel you are in Provence. The staff is wonderful. It is RIGHT next to the Pope's Palace and very near the bridge. You can walk all around old town stop for a bite to eat, shop, or just look. The hotel has a Michelin rated restaurant. The decor is so lovely.

Elegant hotel and a must stay in Avignon. Great little bar with fireplace, warm decorations and fantastic drinks. If driving you’ll need to follow instructions closely to get to hotel. It’s on a back end of the palace of the popes. And to drive to the hotel you’ll need to pull up to a street that is blocked by bollens that require you to use call button to enable hotels staff to lower bollens (pillars that are lowered to the ground) to let you in.

A lovely hotel in a quiet, historic location. Our large room was beautifully decorated and had all modern conveniences and was quiet. We had our own sunny terrace where we had lunch. Luxurious bed linens, super mattress and thick towels. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Book a dinner in the hotel restaurant for an awe-inspiring wonderful experience with their chef's 5 or 7 course dinner. As well reserve another dinner at their cooking school where a chef puts the final touches on your meal while you watch. All public areas are elegant but it's not a pompous hotel. Very welcoming. It's expensive but it will be the highlight of your vacation.

Looking forward to our next visit

We did a lot of research before choosing La Mirande and we were very happy we chose to stay there on our recent trip to Avignon. No effort is spared by the staff to make their guests feel welcomed and appreciated. The food was wonderful from breakfast to lunch to dinner at the special Table Haute. Our room was lovely and well appointed with a view of the Palais de Papes. I can’t imagine a better location as home base for exploring Avignon — we walked everywhere.

The location is amazing. The hotel has great charm. A few draw backs include a very dark room with limited clothing areas, no full mirror, staff often hard to find at outdoor bar and breakfast.
We participated in the chefs private guest dinner with 12 other guests. A beautiful old kitchen downstairs and a beautifully set table. Participants from a cooking class earlier in the day helped prepare the food. It was very enjoyable but the food was not really inspired. The chef was working hard but we were feeling she was not enjoying herself. Would I recommend? Yes for the location and beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.

The hotel is a beautifully renovated and maintained small palace, literally in the shadow of the papal palace. We had a particularly lovely room (26) overlooking a courtyard. The rooms are comfortable, pretty (lots of florals) and up to date. The public rooms, including an enclosed court and a library-style space, are very nice for tea or a drink. The staff is both competent and very nice. All in all, a very well-managed property in a charming city.

Amazing Experience!

We were only at the hotel for one night, but what an amazing experience! The hotel itself was gorgeous: the lobby, the lounge and restaurant, and the garden were all beautiful. The staff was incredibly friendly. Our room was lovely and the bathroom was immense! The little things made all the difference; being able to get the New York Times in the morning was a nice surprise, as were the fruit and marshmallows waiting for us in the room when we checked in. The hotel is close to a small square with quaint bakery. We bought a bunch of pastries and had them with the hotel's delicious coffee for a perfect breakfast. We recommend this hotel without hesitation. It is on the pricier side, but worth every Euro!

A disappointing experience.

We booked the hotel and had dinner there as well to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
I called reception prior to our arrival to mention our special day... no response, no acknowledgement of any kind while in the hotel.
We had to ask to change rooms to get a view of the gardens and the Palais des Papes, great view of the Palais, bad view of a garden largely unattended and unkempt.
We wont stay there again.

We have been staying at this hotel often and have always been impressed by the food in the main restaurant. Indeed this was why we went there on this occasion.
The evening meal we had on Christmas Eve was not nearly as good as meals we have had in the past. We had to return the fish course as it had been severely over cooked. A disappointing visit.

From the moment were greeted by the doorman until we were farewelled by the receptionist our stay at La Mirande was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and helpful without being intrusive or overbearing. The hotel facilities were fantastic, our room furnished with local antiques, a well equipped bathroom with a good, deep bath, separate toilet and bidet and a window overlooking the Palais de Papes. Our breakfasts were hearty and our dinner in the hotel restaurant gave us a genuine taste of French haute-cuisine.

Charming hotel in fantastic central location

My husband and I enjoyed a delightful long weekend at La Mirande recently. I would recommend this hotel especially in off-season as I imagine the service is more attentive (as it was during our stay) than it would be in the summer. Our room was spacious and charmingly old-world. The many common spaces are delightful, especially the indoor atrium which services afternoon tea and the walled gardens. We also enjoyed dinner at La Mirande which served an especially good cheese course. The entree was nothing special but overall I would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant.

I have returned to this hotel on several occasions. I think it may be my favorite hotel in the world. I happen to be quite fond of all things French and this hotel is the real thing. The ambience is perfect for me as is the very efficient service and friendly staff. It is in a wonderful location for excursions into the French countryside. It is filled with beautiful antiques and beautifully decorated. You will enjoy a delicious cuisine from breakfast in the delightful morning room to al fresco dining in the evening. There is also a cooking school in the basement for those hands on gourmets. I will be back!

The staff was competent but not overly friendly. Almost felt like we were going into a hotel to look around but did not belong even though we had a room :-(

However, we left behind some things and the hotel was quick to email us and helped make arrangements to send them along to our next hotel. So in the end they were a great help.

The most charming hotel with the most gracious and accommodating staff...everything was perfect in its delightful location. Don't dare miss this place. Our only regret is that due to our schedule, we could not also have dinner there, but when we arrived late in the evening, they prepared plates of meats and cheeses with wine, followed by desert. Absolutely wonderful and we will go out of our way to go back for a longer stay.

Beautiful gem in Medieval Avignon

Located in a secluded (pedestrian only) sector of Avignon this historic hotel is directly across from the Pope's Palace. The decor is 18th Century French country completing the romantic feeling. Highlights include the amazing staff, breakfast and dinner on the patio. The excellence service, hotel appearance and dining experience are worth every penny. Enjoy!

A word of warning to those traveling with a car. If you plan to park the car with the hotel valet be ready for an adventure navigating the narrow medieval streets of old Avignon. We were driving a small Mercedes 200 series and barely fit between the curbs. GPS is also not helpful in navigating to the hotel itself as it is located in a pedestrian only zone. It is possible to gain access to the hotel via car once you find the call station to buzz the hotel to let you into the area. We chalked up the navigation challenges up to \"part of the experience\" but if that's not your thing you will want to park outside of the walled city and take a cab/walk to the hotel.

overall, a beautiful hotel with a great location. Our room had some plumbing problems. the toilet needed repair twice in 2 days and the shower was either very hot or cold. on check out i asked for a taxi and instead a private car was called at 40 % higher rate. when i questioned it, the front desk told me the price was \"normal\" but when i asked at the airport i found out otherwise.

Vale was very kind and helpfull in this hard to arrive hotel. Our lunch menu was delicious. İ regret not having had our dinner in the hotel because supposedly one of the best restaurants outside turned out to rank only 2 out of 5, regarding the taste of food.
On our day of departure our car was ready in front of the hotel without even our asking for it.lovely.

beautiful hotel in La Provence

I loved our stay at La Mirande. I hope to return and stay more days. The hotel is very beautiful,very well taken care of,Everybody was very friendly and helpful.Besides,it is very close to all the interesting places in Avignon.

Another excellent La Mirande experience

Our second trip to La Mirande and it was even better than the first because this room was materially better than last year's in both size and comfort (even though both cost the same). That is perhaps the most relevant mark against the hotel is that the pricing does not always reflect which rooms are best. Now I know to ask for Room 20 in the future, although perhaps there are even better rooms I have not yet seen.

Exquisite hotel experience

La Mirande is a beautiful 17th century converted palace. It's elegant, ideally located and offers superb service. The restaurant is fantastic. Our stay there really captured the essence of Avignon and made our trip incredibly enjoyable. Highly recommend.

We'll be back.

Service is excellent. Location could not be better. Rooms are not that large but comfortabel and the plumbing and sewer system are not ideal, which can sometimes be noticed. However, most people know that buildings this old have their issues, and you have to expect that. The hotel reminds us the Sacher in Vienna, with its antiques in the common areas and rooms, but La Mirande is a less grand (or more rustic) version of the Sacher. There are also no interesting views from any rooms. All of the above means the hotel is not a great value given its pricing, but if you love Avignon the way we came to love it, you'll be back and pay the freight.
