Avignon Grand Hotel is welcoming with hospitable staff. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel itself is nicely situated in proximity to the attractions and train stations. We had a very pleasant stay.

You cannot adjust the temperature in the room. The A/C only allows you to adjust the fan, which is very noisy when turning it up. The breakfast is poor and options are very limited. You can see fruit flies around at the food area.

The beds in the room were clean. The carpet was not--stained with black gunk all over. The bathroom smelled so heavily of mildew/mold--and the entire room did as well. We had to buy room deodorizers our first day there but they only partially masked the odor. The bathroom was not 100% clean (odd dark splashes of drips around) and there was mildew/mold rotting one corner of the shower. This is no more than a 2 star hotel and is in desperate need of renovation. The room was on the front side of the hotel, so you could also hear all the traffic. I would not stay here again.

Rooms are worn, carpets are faded. We moved rooms once because of a rattling air conditioning fan. We moved again when we came back and the second room smelt of sewage. That was a downgrade with a portable air conditioning unit in the room with a hose sticking out of the window. Hard to recommend.

The property is very dated and in desperate need of a renovation. Our room had very old carpet, chipped wall paint and moulding that was chipped and missing in places.
The staff, however, were very pleasant and helpful. The cleaning staff did their jobs well.

Staff was friendly & helpful, though not all could speak English. Superior room was spacious & liked being on ground floor. Pool liked nice. Location was excellent, right next to central train station & bus station. Short walk to all the tourist attractions. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

What a fabulous hotel. They upgraded us to a two room suite with a tub and a shower. TV in bedroom, TV in living room. Huge towels. It is located steps away from the train station (Not the TGV) so after our journey from Toulouse, very quick walk to total comfort. We have a pool so don't use that and soaking in the tub and showering in the lovely bathroom was delightful.

It is in a great location, just a short walk from the train station as well as various excellent bars, cafes and restaurants.
We booked a double room but were not expecting two queen size beds in a very spacious area which included a small living room complete with a sofa and table. The balcony was large with metal chairs and table but, in the sunshine with the temperature sometimes over 35 degrees, a parasol would have been nice.
We found on arrival that the door to the balcony would not open but a call to reception produced a fix within only ten minutes.
The breakfast choices are extensive but the quality is better than most hotels I have been in across Europe. I have been so used to the slightly industrial taste of orange juice in other hotels that I really appreciated the 100% fresh orange in this hotel - the machine literally squashes an orange for you and you can taste the difference.
Without exception, the staff were friendly as well as highly professional. Overall, it offers great value for money and we would definitely go back to this hotel if we ever end up in Avignon again.
One thing though: bring a bottle opener! The courtesy bottles of water in the mini bar on arrival had beer-bottle like tops. We didn't have a bottle opener. We soon bought one in Avignon but we encountered during our stay other guests heading for reception bearing unopened water bottles and bemused expressions.

Large and spacious rooms with air con, looking a bit tired but otherwise comfortable. Shower control manual so be careful. Only real grouse was the very poor WiFi. Had to move rooms because the first room wouldn’t connect at all, the replacement was better but still very inconsistent with slow speeds. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast and great location for the town and the railway station.

Good location next to train station and old city. However there was absolutely no WiFi in the room. The staff seemed surprised even though other reviews have said the same thing. They supposedly sent someone to fix it on our last day but we still had no WiFi afterwards. Also, beware of mosquitos! We ended up with several mosquito bites and killed three. We should have known because if you look closely at the walls you will see the remnants of other bugs. Breakfast was decent.

Some woodwork needed maintenance but just cosmetic and did not affect the accommodation functionality. Very good.

We would stay here again; however when selecting the property through Expedia, I selected pool and restaurant. The pool is not open in mid April and the restaurant breakfast only - we didn’t use the breakfast as a nice cafe feeds 3 for the price of 1. Also there is a partner restaurant that is far too expensive. The smell of the drains in this region is to be expected however better traps in the facilities could Be improved by better traps. Also us Northern Europeans can swim in the pool!

The hotel was in an excellent location, very near to the train station. The front desk staff was very accommodating. The hotel room was a little run down. There was a strong odour in the room, I believe it was a sewer smell. When we reported it the staff did not appear surprised and said they would have it addressed. They did, but it was back the next day.

I never had such bad experience as soon as i entered the room i felt a very strong smell that could not be tolerated. i asked for a change of room and it was denied but they offered to send a person to check who sprayed a little perfume and left. all night i could not sleep absolutely a terrible experience

아비뇽 구시가지 입구에 있어 이동이 편하다. 주차장 입구는 호텔 직전에 있어 찾기 어려웠고 할인은 안되었다. 방은 매우 큰편이라 좋았고, 구시가지 인근에 맛집이 널려있어 조식은 먹지 않았다. 와이파이가 2인 중 한명만 연결되었으며 2일동안 해결되지 않아 불편하였다. 에어컨을 조절해도 별로 시원하지 않았다. 룸 청소 할때 방 입구 슬롯에 끼운 키카드가 도난되서 매우 불쾌하였지만 관계자는 종종 룸청소 직원이 알 수 없는 이유로 가져갔다고 하며 대수롭지 않게 새카드를 추가로 주었다. 그러나 아무나 내 방에 들어 올 수 있는 상황이 매우 불쾌했다. 현금 분실에 주의해야한다. 월컴 물 2개가 제공되었지만 수돗물 같이 맛이 매우 안좋아서 하나는 마시지 않았다.

* 2 TVs - one in the bathroom and one in the living room.
* patio door access to a small garden and dedicated table/chairs for each room.

Cons:
* facility is kind of old. The carpet is quite worn out and sofa cushion is very soft.
* AC control unit isn't intuitive. I eventually had to turn it off to avoid loud noise.

It is a reordering looking place,but my room was nice. Staff was kind to tried to accommodate my smudges. It conveniently located near the station and also near the city centre.
Breakfast was nit 4 stars, rather poor.

The staff was not very helpful or understanding when the reservation made a mistake; instead of two beds, they had a room with one bed. Explaining that both guests had hip surgery and could not share a bed. finally, at 9 pm, they brought a small foldable bed, and rather than accommodating us when we had already paid over 500 euros for two nights, they added 45 euros a night for the little foldable bed. very disappointing and truly ridiculous. The room also had very few electric plugs and no plugs in the bathroom, which was very inconvenient. Dirty glasses were left in the room and when I requested clean ones they told me to come and get them at the front desk, This type of service is not acceptable for a hotel of the quality and price of The Avignon Grand hotel.

The staff and the hotel were lovely. The hotel is just outside the city walls so everything is within walking distance. The train station is literally two minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast is plentiful and varied. The room we had was very clean but could do with an update but that didn't take away from the pleasure of the room. The bed was very comfortable and the shower very powerful. Great air conditioning and even though we were so close to the train station, the room is completely soundproof. The only negative I have is that the parking, even though it is underneath the hotel, is public parking at a cost of €1.80 per hour, or €18 per day.

Very large rooms with all the amenities. Easy walking distance to main Avignon attractions. Staff are lovely and helpful with good english skills. Parking garage is difficult to enter and park with a large car, we managed OK with a 3 series estate but it was close on all sides. Price for parking is typical for the area.

Juste je trouve qu'il manque des prises côté chambre. Pour pouvoir charger les portables mon compagnon et moi avons du débrancher les lampes de chevet. Dommage que la porte de la douche ne se fermer pas complètement. Il y a quelques que fisure sur la baignoire et la contour de porte abîmé. La chambre était très propre.

We spent one night at the Grand Hotel on our way from Avignon to Lyon on the TGV. We had a very early train departure. The hotel is an easy and safe seven minute walk to the Central Station and about the same to the center of Avignon.
In addition to the great location, the staff were cheery generally and very helpful with our questions

A special allowed me to book a superior room. As a solo traveler, the double beds, sitting room and big bathroom, all very clean, felt like a palace! My view was of the medieval wall. Walkable to buses, which was good because the Palais des Papes is a long walk. Near the train station so there is a parking garage, though it is a little creepy because the passages to the hotel were unlit. Definitely not for a woman alone. The staff was very friendly and the buffet had a lot of choices.

Our room had a very bad smell. Carpet was dirty. My towel had a hole in it. The courtyard right outside our room, people should not be allowed to stay there past certain times to let others sleep.
The bathroom had no space/shelves for any toiletries.
