Pretty on the outside, shabby inside. Tiny room, thin walls, uncomfortable bed. Noisy electrical apparatus would go off randomly in the night—as loud as an alarm. It gave me rotten sleep before an important day of winery visits. Could not ask reception for help, since they lock-up and vacate at night. I fled the place for a much better hotel around the corner. Quite disappointed in Hotel Cecyl.

The property is on a side street off the Place Drouet d'Erlon near the fountain, so it is very convenient. We happened to be in Reims the night of the Fete de la Musique, so it was extremely noisy. The staff recommended that we head to the Place de la Forum, where the music would be a bit more tame. It was an excellent recommendation. The room was clean. I would likely return on my next trip to Reims.

Nice staff. Nice venue. The only reason we gave it a four star was because we could hear noise from all the other rooms. All the walls are super thin. You could hear people talking in the street and when the other tenets arrived at night, you could hear everything. Other than that it was a very nice stay.

Convent but needs updating

Very worn and tired appearance. The common areas and our room in need of new carpeting and painting. Told differing things by the same person upon check in/out on how to get the discounted hotel parking rate at the neighboring parking lot which resulted in my not obtaining the discounted rate and paying significantly more for the parking. Best thing about the hotel is location.

A great value overnight stopover, right in the heart of the city. We were pleased with the room which was clean and spacious. Staff really friendly and helpful. Parking on street not a problem, you have to pay morning and afternoon so it cost us 4euro. We opted for the hotel breakfast which was fine. There is no aircon so I was glad we had brought a fan! Our room had a balcony onto the street, so it was nice to have the window open but note the garbage truck is coming in the middle of the night!

So and so for business trip

When I arrived at the hotel, staff said the hotel was a problem and recommended another hotel with one star higher than it and let me know the detailed location where it was very close. She kindly said I had only to say I was moved from this hotel to other hotel. I moved to another hotel and checked in. Unfortunately, there was neither air conditioner nor table. Good point is there are many restaurants very near the hotel.

This is far more than a 2 star hotel. We arrived at 23:30 after a long drive and the staff were kind and excellent overall - nothing was too much trouble! Equally we forgot something at the hotel and it again was no problem - they are mailing it to us. Courteous and going the extra mile - with parking and right around the corner from The Cathedral - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hotel Cecyl and we will definitely stay again onour way through Reims.

Hotel is getting shabby and needs an update. Carpet is shabby, blackout curtains were so wrinkled they didn’t close properly ( kindof defeats the purpose). Staff were friendly and helpful. Good central location in downtown Reims.

I was bitten on my entire body by bedbugs in this hotel. My bites were so severe that I had to seek medical attention in Paris. It was A horrific experience that I wouldn’t wish on my worst nightmare.The Staff was not sympathetic in the least, even telling me that it’s not the first time that this has happened. I have not been offered any kind of compensation from this hotel even though my entire vacation was ruined.

Would stay again if not for huge weird mural in Rm

Rooms are small but fantastic other than the weird huge murals in the room. I had a lady looking down on me which made me rather uncomfortable. and the bed faces a mirror which was kind of weird as well but not as weird as the mural. Other than the lack of aircon and a very warm autumn in the France. The place is clean, neat and tidy. Reception is really friendly and helpful and the breakfast is pretty good (lots of good cheese and spreads). Fantastic location as well. Has lift!

Great location, colourful rooms, but musky toilet.

Hotel location is Super central, close to train station and a lot of dining options nearby.
Room given was yellow but we request to change to purple and was able to change for us without any top up or trouble.

However, after we return after dinner, we realised that the bathroom has this musky, stale and moldy smell which we can't get away even we open our window and air the room. Didn't make any complaints to the hotel as it wasn't already midnight and we are checking out the next morning.

Otherwise, this hotel would have been great for its price.

Excellent 2 star hotel

After doing extensive research on the internet for hôtels in Reims, we decided on the 2 star Hotel Cecyl. The location was perfect, a short walk from the train station, and in the center of shopping and eating. The hotel was newly redecorated, very clean, and the room had many outlets for all our devices. The room was small, but not as small as some 2 star hotels. We had chosen a ‘comfort’ level room. The hotel graciously kept our bags so we could find lunch while the room was made ready as we arrived early. For the price it is a great place to spend a couple of nights in Reims.

Great place

This is an ideal place from which to explore Reims, right in the pedestrian shopping area, 3 blocks from the cathedral. Discounted parking next door. The rooms are pleasantly decorated and quite comfortable. At 211 sq feet/20m, they are larger than what you normally get. Lots of good restaurants close by. Wish we could have stayed longer!

The stay at hotel Cecyl that wasn't !

When we arrived at the 2 star hotel Cecyl we were told that there was a problem with the WC in our room and the hotel had transferred us to another hotel without extra charge.We walked 100 yds to the 3 star hotel Crystal and stayed there so apart from the reception area and staff ( both fine ) cannot comment on the hotel Cecyl. The hotel Crystal was fine, brand new room although it was small for 2 people.
The issue of hotel transfer seems to have been one others have encountered but did not cause us any problems at all.

Spacious, comfy room... but not the best start!

We arrived very tired having driven for many hours, the hotel had a small reception but looked bright & modern.The receptionist was friendly but we were immediately told that there was a plumbing problem with our family room and we would have to move to their sister hotel (an upgrade she said). This would have been o.k but we then had to trudge across town with our 12 year old, very weary and laden with suitbags & cases as we had already parked our car in the multi-storey next door. Although the receptionist explained where it was, when we eventually found it we were very dismayed to find a very tired, dreary and dated 'Hotel Crystal' and an uninterested member of staff at the check in.
The room was too small for 3 persons, with hardly any room around the beds and the single bed almost up against ours.. although clean, it was also very basic with a view of a scrappy flat roof and wall. My heart sank -this was a downgrade and I felt misled!! We decided to return to hotel Cecyl and complain... trudging back with all our bags (the receptionist didn't seem bothered, but maybe she was embarrassed) We disgruntingly but politely told hotel Cecyl we did not want to stay in the other hotel, that it was not of the standard we had booked. Within a couple of minutes, and a brief discussion about room availability,she decided we could have our original booking and said nothing more about the problem (?!) We opened the door to find a far superior room, with plenty of space and nice decor.

Loveley authentic very very French!

This was a great authentic small French hotel experience in a neighborhood or area that is a U.N. World Heritage site. The room was clean, comfortable and all the amenities we needed. All staff went above and beyond to accomidate our needs. The location could not have been better to be near transportation, bistros, nightlife, touring (do not miss the Cathederal) although parking WAS convenient and comped we gave our rental car back and just taxied or walked as some of the Champagne houses are too far to walk. You are steps away from main square with the Angel of Champagne fountain, shops, bistros etc. Also a very discreet shopping center next door which had everything including an awesome market with great wine deals. The rooms are small as is typical European style and may not have views. But we were very impressed with fundemental comforts including great (very quiet) A/C during a heat wave! Loved this place. Clean, comfortable, welcoming.

Quirky, charming cozy hotel

The room was very compact, but as a friend said, what more do you need, just a bed and a bathroom, anything else is waste. I do sincerely wish the shower would have been larger, around 30 inches on the outside, does not live much on the inside to turn around. However, the staff was so, so nice, always a smile, always willing to accommodate any request, such as leaving your bags at the desk if it's not check-in time or you have checked out but cannot carry these suitcases until you are ready for your transport. The girl who served breakfast always had the most cheery disposition. The breakfast, to me, was delicious, way more than you get in a lot of other hotels. One point, they have a "non-functioning" phone in your room. you cannot call out, but they did accommodate me by dialing the number I needed from the front desk. So you do need a cell phone that works in France.
By and large, I would absolutely stay there again.

This is the second time we visited this hotel on our trip, we re booked after a pleasant stay the first time. They recognised us a week later and greeted us like regulars, the whole hotel was as good as the first time. Great location for the bars and restaurants in town less than 100 yards away. Parking is next door in a secure multi story. I highly recommend it

Usually very cautious about staying unknown in a modest hotel in city centres. This one has been recently completely refurbished in a modern style and is both comfortable and very clean - no rough edges.
Bedroom quite small, as was the ensuite, but adequate; enough storage space in wardrobe for a few days stay.
We stayed three nights and all in all consider we had excellent value. We would be happy to return again.
If you don't need fancy restaurant, spa, swimming pool/gym facilities within your hotel, this is a good choice in Reims.
Well priced, excellent value and central to everything.

Good but really very very small

The location was excellent, partly because Reims city center isn't that big to start with. But we rarely needed any transport except when we were going to train station or wine houses.

The room was much smaller than we imagined from the pictures. We had 2 pieces of large luggage and we couldn't even leave the room without moving them away. But placing the heaving luggage behind the door was good because there was no chain lock on the door and we didn't feel so safe without it actually.

On the first floor, there was no privacy that not only we saw the Best Western hotel occupants right opposite to us looking over through their windows, we could hear people downstairs talking at normal voice and their cigarette smoke did join us in the room.

The bathroom lacked counter top for us to place our toiletries. Shower towels were smaller than average size. Overall, the price is cheap so we probably shouldn't complain much. And surely upper floors should have offered much better experience. But our priority was having an enclosed shower area since we would easily splash water everywhere. So when we saw what we wanted in our room, we didn't bother to ask for a higher floor room.

Last but not least, the reception staff was very helpful in booking us taxis and confirming restaurant bookings for us.

Very good value, unexpected stay as prebooked sister hotel referred us as they had a power problem! Off a busy pedestrian precinct the hotel has a lovely hidden courtyard garden, with steps up to lobby. A seating area breakfast room and bar are on first floor. The hotel is on four floors with an elevator. Rooms are bright and clean with comfortable beds. Staff were charming.

Why the move?

I spent considerable time choosing this hotel, believing it was more 'boutique' than others in the city. Despite arriving before the 11 o'clock 'cut-off' which was confirmed by us (through ringing the hotel) to be the latest that the hotel would permit entry, we were moved to another hotel - Hotel Latino - which was not the published sister hotel as explained on the front door of Hotel Cecyl. We were informed that our family room had had 'electrical problems' although this was not confirmed by reception staff when we returned in the morning. Hotel Latino was very poor; very thin walls (with an interesting sound track at 4.00am!), a hole in the sheets, bedside light not working, dead bug in the bed and a very 'polyester' feel to the bed covering. Overall, apart from free wifi, the experience was poor and accompanied by staff who seemed to be prepared only to offer the bare minimum. I had a broken arm and no assistance was given to my wife with bags.

We were not offered breakfast until we returned to pick up details from leaving the parking area. By that time we had eaten in another hotel. It would not have taken much to have informed us of the provision either at check in or through the 'ugly-sister' hotel. Frankly, the free parking that was given to us was insufficient in compensating for the experience.

I would suggest that any prospective clients are very careful in booking this hotel.

This hotel is in the perfect position just hundred meters from the train station. It's also on the main boulevard in only a few blocks from the beach. The hotel itself is slightly older but well constructed. And even though it was close to the train station we never heard any trains because they have a very extensive doublewindow system. Overall we had a great stay and the people that work there were friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend this place for a good price good location and good sleep

The hotel is centrally located and the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Comfortable bed and clean room. Parking is next door but you only get in and out once. It is discounted for hotel guests if you park over 12hrs. It was on the expensive side for what you get, but the stay was pleasant. The reception staff during the day were unhelpful and not very welcoming, the evening staff were better. Wifi on the 4th floor was patchy at best.

Easy to find on one if the main streets in Reims. Good character to each room with the large "saint" on the bedroom wall! Kettle in room but no tea and coffee...have to get it from breakfast bar in the morning. Overall great for city break, esp when you are shopping and going back and forth to hotel.

The room was nicely appointed, though we were disappointed that there was no AC and it was rather warm during our stay. The location is wonderful--right near the pedestrian zone that features lots of cafes, restaurants and shops. There's also an indoor shopping arcade a few doors away, which includes a grocery store. We were trapped in the parking garage elevator for about 15 minutes, and thankfully they dispatched someone to open the doors. I'm glad I could speak French!

Perfect city location

Right in the centre of reims, public multi storey car park next door which you get a discounted rate for from the hotel. We loved reims and the hotel was perfectly placed for us. Just of the square where all the restaurants are. 5-10 minutes to the tourist office and basilica. We also walked to the mumm Caves twenty minutes away.

We stopped over here for 1 night. Can't fault the hotel apart from a lack of coffee and biscuits in the room. There was a kettle though, it just hasn't been stocked. Otherwise it was fine. Staff were friendly and helpful. Reims is beautiful and the hotel is in the centre and easy to get to. They have a deal with the car park next door to pay €8.50 for 24 hours.

This hotel seems to have been recently updated, the rooms are a good size and the location is good for the champagne houses, the cathedral and the train station. The front staff checked us in and out quickly, the room was clean and while the bathroom was small it was very well laid out with a great shower. Big windows let in a lot of light. Free wi-fi was a bonus and though we had issued connecting from the fourth floor, the lobby was comfortable enough to use to check email. We did not eat breakfast but it did look very well appointed.

Two warnings - It was noisy at the front of the hotel due to the proximity to restaurants. Travelers looking to retire early at night should certainly request a rear room. Also the lift is very small, so those with claustrophobia will want a low level room!

My girlfriend and I enjoyed an excellent couple of nights at hotel cecyl. Rooms were nice and clean, location excellent, and service was great too. The breakfast at the hotel was good, and much more reasonable than surrounding cafés from what we could see. Would definately go back if in Reims again!

Nice hotel easy access to Paris by train.

The staff were really friendly & helpful. We stayed in a standard room which had a Nespresso coffee machine, good free wifi and a room safe. The choice of food at breakfast was exceptional and the best breakfast i have ever had. The secure public car park was across the road as was the beautiful Fontainebleau Chateau. We travelled by train to Paris which took 40 mins and cost 16 Euros. The return ticket was also valid for the Metro & buses in Paris an absolute bargain. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Rooms are ok and very central location in Reims

However, nothing special. Also, the carpet flooring in the bath room isn't really that great. Rooms are also somewhat small but ok in terms of value for money considering the other places in town!

Bon accueil à notre arrivée. En revanche, plusieurs points nous ont déçus.

À la découverte de notre chambre, nous avons constaté qu’elle était étroite. Les toilettes se trouvent dans la salle de bain, ce qui la rend encore plus exiguë. Le support du pommeau de douche ne tenait pas correctement, et l’isolation de la chambre était particulièrement mauvaise : nous avons entendu des conversations et des cris dans la rue toute la nuit, alors que nous étions au 3ᵉ étage. Le matin, lorsque nos voisins prenaient leur douche, on avait l’impression qu’ils étaient dans notre propre salle de bain.

La literie était confortable.

Concernant le petit-déjeuner, le choix et la qualité des produits étaient insuffisants. La dame présente au service devait également gérer l’accueil, et passait beaucoup de temps au téléphone. Un effort devrait clairement être fait sur la relation client.

Nous lui avons fait part de nos remarques. Elle nous a écoutés, mais les explications fournies n’étaient pas cohérentes.

Nous ne recommandons pas cet établissement.

Horrible , à fuir à cause du bruit de la rue

Nous sommes arrivées trop tôt . Mais nous avons laissé notre bagage . Chercher on possible à partir de 14h. Nous sommes revenus vers 16h et la femme de ménage était encore dans la chambre . Mais ça ce n est rien LA FENÊTRE N AVAIT PAW DD FOU LE VITRAGE et donnait sur une rue où toute la nuit sans exception , des gens saouls qui hurlaient , nous ont empêché de former . Mais vraiment toute la nuit . Ça c est arrêté vers 6.1/4 ou 1/2 et nous avons encore été réveillé cette fois par ceux qui occupaient la chambre du dessus fin. 201 et qui pendant une heure , jusqu à ce su ils partent à 8h , n ont pas arrêter de faire les /00 pas , … une horreur
Ma fille et moi n avons donc pas du tout dormi de la nuit et ce n est pas une expression
Même à 80€ la chambre , c est une honte .meme si je vous l accorde, l hôtel n est pas responsable des beurreries du samedi soir .
Je si Pas regardé les avis . Mais je pense ne pas être la seule à avoir vécu cet enfer . Surtout si on était si 1 er étage

Hotellet var meget slidt, elevatoren virkede ikke.
De var i gang med at renovere på værelserne ved siden af vores, hvilket medførte en del støj og lugte. De arbejde til ca. kl. 20.00, hvilket betød at der ikke var ro.
Ikke et sted vi vil tage hen igen.
Dog var personalet venlig

Les gens de cet hôtel sont vraiment sympathiques, mais on ne peut arriver à l'hôtel sans l'aide de l'employé. Tout est en travaux autour de l'hôtel. Finalement, on arrive, mais l'ascenseur de l'hôtel est en panne. On monte trois étages par l'escalier en colimaçon. L'hôtel est bien centré et les gens sont charmants. Heureusement.

Hôtel sale, chambre au 4ème étage (ascenseur en panne), à la réception rodent des personnes clairement suralcoolisées. Nous sommes partis et avons pris un autre hôtel pour la nuit.
Très décevant également le service hôtels.com - les photos ne correspondent pas du tout à la réalité.
