Suite #5: Oasis! Loved this antique-y house with humorously squeaky wooden stairs & floors, quaint breakfast room with enjoyable breakfast. Host provided a 9vintage) kettle on request which was very useful in our rooms. ROOM 5 suite was a very welcome oasis of rest in the middle of our trip. Two separate bedrooms, one quite large, the other overlooking the little garden with the back entrance which is the primary entrance to the building. Shared bathroom was spacious and opened off the vestibule which had a useful table, so the arrangement was great for two people to enjoy some elbow room and private downtime. We felt a bit spoiled by the acreage. The elderly dogs were well-behaved, the other guests quiet, it was a delight to find such a nice old place after staying in too many contemporary hotels with their underlit rooms, black lightswitches hidden on black walls, clear glass doors with no handles no rims nor sitckers- yes I banged my head on one and am still cranky haha. This felt like a nice stay with a doting great aunt and a relief from the relentless modernism. Also walking distance to the museum and to the very famous beer brewery restaurant! Easy to reach by Metro, loved it. Nice Greek restaurant nearby too

There was no wifi in the room (or the entire top floor of the hotel). I would not recommend booking this hotel. I feel scammed. The owner told me she would give me a refund, I have emailed and received no response for weeks.
Expedia please remove this hotel from your website.

The worst hotel stay of my life. Limited staff hours at front desk, smelled like stale cigarettes in hallways, the floors in our room squeaked terribly, the beds were small and uncomfortable, breakfast was stale cereal and breads. Bathroom was tiny and dirty. We asked to cancel our room due to the miserable conditions and the staff refused. Stay away and don’t repeat my mistake in coming here.

Appreciated the early check-in!

We stumbled on this place when almost all hotels in Munich were booked. in fact, it's an easy walk to the center (15 minutes or so) with even easier access to Gartnerplatz. Our room was very spacious and comfortable.
The cappuccino could be better but there was plenty of fresh fruit and good bread for breakfast buffet.
Most of all, we appreciated that we arrived quite early and they cleaned the room and gave us access before 10am! That was exceptional service.

Hidden gem for closeness to downtown

Nice pleasant stay. I was only there for 9 hours. Breakfast was your typical German breakfast which I like. Room was small but comfortable. Location for me was great my business was just across the street.

Both bus and tram station are just a couple of minutes away and you can get to the city center in 10-15min. Definitely a good price for being so close to the city center.

I wouldn't stay there again.

As for the location, everything is fine and everything is close, however, being an old property, the apartment makes noise. They have no fan, no air conditioning even though it was summer and on one of the nights I was there the light went out completely, the response of the customer service was that we had to wait until the next morning. I wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel ammenities are not bad, however the policy regarding the arrival is just hard to believe, basically after 7pm they \"cannot guarantee you can get it\" (exact terms sent to me through the Expedia messagerie).
The staff explained this is because they are a small hotel (but still they use the hotel denomination).
Anyway, you can get there at 9pm, and you will find nobody.
Their phone number is unatttended as well, and there is a message which says they are cloaed due to covid restrictions (yes, in June 2024!)
In the end, I managed to get it by going and looking in their garden in the night for any sort of key!!!!
I gave my feedback to the hotel reception, and I was told this are as they are ^^. Pretty unfriendly staff.
Finally, I couldn't connect to the wifi, as all other hotel ratings indicate. Which, yes, shows you things as are they are, and will remain as they are.

Nice stay in Germany

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean and sufficient for a night’s stay. There are no elevators (lifts) so you may have to climb steps to get to your room. They have dogs on premises but they don’t bother you one bit. They don’t even come to sniff you. They are extremely pleasant.

Maria makes you feel at home…

Maria was the perfect welcoming host- friendly, interesting, intelligent. This modest hotel had wonderful old Munich charm, excellent location close to old town and convenient to highways, amazing breakfast, and terrific Italian and German restaurants within two blocks. Bathroom was very small but we loved everything else. Best beds for sleeping too.

The mattress was damp and smelled of urine. There was only a thin sheet on it. I had to sleep on the duvet cover so I wouldn't feel the dampness of the mattress, and my nightgown and hair smelled horrible the next day. The staff said they didn't smell anything, so I got no compensation and looked like a liar. Even without that, the place is dingy; you get the feeling you're going to fall through the steps on the staircase. There are several floors and no elevator. The price was exorbitant because of the Oktoberfest.

It is great for being a Hostal. Be aware that there is not check in after 17 hours. The cleaning room end around 11am. Breakfast is fine. Choices are limited. The best is location: great neighborhood and great public transportation.

We are grateful we only had to stay one night. The address given has been closed off. We had to walk around the block to find the rear entrance and were met by a dog. The common area carpet hasn't been cleaned for a long, long time. The decor appears not to have been updated since the 50s. Not enough room to open a suitcase anywhere except on the bed. Windowless hallway didn't have lights on. We had to find our room in the dark. We had to use a regular metal key to unlock the door and then to lock it from the inside. Grateful there wasn't a fire as trying to find key and unlocking it to get out of the room probably wouldn't be possible. Old stove in hallway makes it tight to walk.

A hidden Haus in the Au

I really love this location, and the laid-back atmosphere that the owner brings to this place. It’s like you are staying at a family house. I’ve stayed here several times and I would do it again. On this trip, the owner actually gave me a couple of Euros to put in the parking meter - really not expecting me to pay her back. I did, but she seemed surprised.

The only thing I can mark this hotel down on....is bed comfort. It’s a bit hard, but then again...it fits with the “old house” nature of the place that seems so nice to me.

Old-fashioned hotel with excellent breakfast

Our introduction to this hotel was not great. By the way, they don't tell you that the hotel is not actually at the address where it's listed! It's actually on the next street over. However, a nice resident of the hotel stuck her head out of the window and told us where to go. The owner had left a note for us, all in German, and we had to check in on our own. All this was inconvenient but this place has a fabulous breakfast that I highly recommend. It was rather hot in the room, but they gave me a fan when I asked. The room is small but comfortable, very old fashioned. Oh, and really dreadful WiFi, in case you care about that. We ended up really liking it, but it is definitely quirky.

Lovely hotel

We are so happy that we stayed at the Hotel Mariahilf. The hotel is full of charm and warmth and Maria is a wonderful host. We stayed in the quadruple room as we had four people and the room was perfect. It is furnished with beautiful antiques and we really felt we were part of history. The hotel location is perfect for exploring the city and Maria was very knowledgeable about the area and was a great help to us in deciding where to eat and where to go. We had a rental car and Maria has parking available and made it very easy. We were in Europe for a week and this really was our favorite place that we stayed. Maria's sister, who is a sweet dear lady, provided a wonderful breakfast every morning and we felt very cared for while we were there. The entire staff was helpful and just as charming as the hotel itself. We would absolutely stay here again and would not want to stay anywhere else.

Charming, comfortable, and a bit quirky

Cute little hotel with lots of early 20th century charm and a few quirks. Nice breakfast and breakfast room. Lobby area smells of cigarette smoke, but not a big deal. The neighborhood around it is very nice with narrow cobbled streets and older buildings with shutters and ivy. The large church nearby wakes you with bells in the morning. The owner and staff were all very nice as well.

Small, Older, but charming...

This hotel is an old building - with creaking wooden stairs to match! The rooms are dated, but comfortable. The WiFi did not have a good signal in my room, so I used it in the hall and reception area. The breakfast was what one expects of a German hotel with all the assorted cheeses, meats and such. The location is decent - on the outskirts of Haidhausen and bordering Lehel.

Wonderful location and staff, best breakfast!

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel as a family of four with kids aged 9 and 11. It was like staying in someone's home, so clean and comfortable and with such hospitable staff and the most incredible breakfast selection which was our kids highlight along with the resident dogs. It is also such a lovely area and convenient location with a bus to the centre of town across the road which came every few minutes and close to a supermarket, restaurants (including a beer garden), the Isar river and the Deutsche museum. Also free wifi which worked really well.

charming hotel with friendly staff and somewhat close to attractions

The hotel was very quaint and charming. It isn't too far of a walk to Mary's Square and The English Gardens (15-30) minutes. The lady at the front desk was extremely personable and hospitable. She took time to explain where everything is located and provided a demonstration on how to use the security code for the back door. Breakfast was plentiful and they even made eggs to order. The dining room was cozy and had the going to grandma's house type of feel. The wifi didn't work well from our room on the top floor. However, we were able to get good reception in the hallway or downstairs. I suspect this may not be a problem for lower floors. My only complaint is the smell of cigarette smoke but with the windows opened the smoke smell seemed to subside. To be fair, I will admit that I'm probably more sensitive to smoke than the average person.

A great way to stay in Munich

We had a 2 day stay here to start a 2 week trip in Germany. The room we stayed in has an amazing feel to it; spacious, inviting and luxurious. For the high-end traveler take note that the hotel is MANY years old and so a part of the charm of the place is the creaking floors and lack of a lift. The breakfast hosts where warm, charming and efficient.

While the hotel is not \"in the core\" we found it accessible enough to take the brisk walk in to see the sights.

Things that need management attention at his writing include a more intuitive front door lock (only 1 in our party of 4 could open the door after hours) and at the least a note about the bathroom outlet being deactivated by the wall switch as it's frustrating to leave a device plugged in all night only to find it has not been charging.

WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN OVERPRICED.

I PICKED THIS HOTEL BECAUSE IT WAS NEAR THE MUSEUM I WISHED TO VISIT. IT WAS ACCEPTABLE BUT IT NEEDS A FULL REFURBISHMENT. DECOR AND FITTINGS WERE OUT OF DATE. THE CARPET WAS WARN AND THE BEAD SPREAD WAS MARKED.

Home away from home

We were a family of 4 staying for five days. The hotel is very comfortable and has personalized service where you feel you are staying as a guest at your friends place. Decor is easy going with interesting corners. The people are very friendly and ready to help out with anything.
The high point if the hotel is the breakfast room and the breakfast. I challenge you to find a better breakfast spread anywhere in the works. There's meats, cheese, pastries, cereals, fruits, juices, eggs made to order, and the list goes on.

Beware of early check-in cutoff.

Terrible. Did not get passed the locked front and back doors. No answer to repeated phone calls. Hotels.com claims 7pm checkin cutoff but this critical information was not included in their email confirmation. Stood in the snow after long journey. Forced to find other accomodations without Mariahilf or hotels.com help. It will take a long time to forget this bad expereince.

La atención del personal fue buena, el desayuno incluido fue excelente y muy variado. Solo tuvimos una mala experiencia y es que se equivocaron con nuestras habitaciones y nos dejaron llaves que no correspondían a nuestra reservación, deben ser más atentos con esa clase de errores por qué como turistas llegamos a veces de nuestros vuelos por las noches y al no haber recepción 24 horas la verdad si complica mucho el llegar por la noche al hotel y que no estén bien asignadas las habitaciones.

Sympathisches kleines Privathotel! Abstriche muss man etwas bei der leicht in die Jahre gekommenen Einrichtung machen. Rustikal ist da eine ganz gute Bezeichnung. Aber nicht alt, klapprig oder gar kaputt. Etwas hellhörig leider. Frühstück ok!

Schönes kleines Hotel mit familiärer Atmosphäre

Wir hatten das Vergnügen, mehrere Tage in diesem charmanten kleinen Mariahilf Hotel zu verbringen, ein privat geführtes Familien Hotel. Die Besitzerinnen sind sehr gastfreundlich. Wer eine Übernachtung abseits von modernen Ketten sucht, ist hier in guten Händen. Das Hotel ist bequem eingerichtet, mit einem persönlichen und nostalgischen Touch, die Zimmern sind einfach aber sehr sauber, mit Fernsehen und Minibar, die Betten sind bequem. Das Frühstück und Service sind gut. Vor dem Hotel befindet sich ein liebevoll angelegte kleiner Stadtgarten, in dem man sich wunderbar erholen kann.

Die Nähe zum Deutschen Museum, den grünen Ufern der Isar, dem Auermühlbach, der Hochstraße und dem berühmten Biergarten „Am Nockerberg“ machen den Aufenthalt idyllisch. Hier kann man sich richtig entspannen und auf Autos verzichten, die Gegend ist gut mit 2 Buslinien und einer Straßenbahn verbunden, die das Stadtzentrum verbindet. Nicht weit vom Hotel, sind Apotheke, Bäckerei, Restaurants, Cafés und ein Supermarkt.
Wir werden gerne wieder reservieren.

Hotel antiguo pero con cierto encanto.

Es un hotel pequeño y un poco antiguo, aunque se está bien en él. El mobiliario también algo antiguo, pero puede tener su encanto. Para personas con dificultad, creo que carece de ascensor, nosotros subíamos andando a la primera planta.

El baño es también un poco antiguo (y pequeño) comparado con los otros dos hoteles en que hemos estado en el mismo viaje.

El desayuno muy bien y variado, con opciones suficientes para nosotros (fiambre, dulces, fruta, café, zumos...). Y el personal amable y correcto a la hora de atenderte.

Si se llega después de las cinco, no hay atención presencial. Hay que avisar para que den instrucciones de cómo acceder al hotel y a la habitación.

Bonito hotel aunque mejorable

Estuve en habitación sencilla. Mejorable sobre todo el armario y algo el mobiliario de la habitación. Las dobles parecían mejores. Los dueños agradables. Importante no dispone de los servicios de un hotel aunque se llame asi.
