Lovely hotel with a great location! The hotel is very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. The breakfast area has nice balcony with seating, definitely take advantage of that when the weather is good! I stayed in a junior suite, which is extremely spacious and has a large bathroom with separate tub and shower. The AC works great, it was very warm outside when I stayed in Munich, one day reaching 90F/32C, and the AC worked just fine in that heat!

A great place to stay! Location was perfect for us. Staff was amazing both at the front desk and bar. Loved the rich history of the hotel and wished I could learn the stories and history of the travelers that had passed through this oldest hotel in Munich but loved the mini museum off the staircase.

The room was fine and bed super comfy. The bathroom is a bit small, our safe didn’t work and our view was multiple rooftops but we didn’t stay long in the room anyway. Their “in room free mini bar” consisted of two small bottles of water and two small treats - misleading. But, we did get vouchers for the bar which was nice.

They share on their sight a 24 hour shuttle service to the airport which is very misleading. They helped get a taxi for us for our return trip to the airport but there is no hotel shuttle and didn’t find out until after we landed and called the hotel to find out how to get the shuttle. Taxi is about €120. Would definitely stay here again.

pros: location was fantastic. staff was very helpful; room was big; we arrived from Slazberg at 10 am and our room was ready;

cons: very small single elevator, you’ll need to climb stairs to even use the elevator, we inquired about the hotel arranging a taxi to bring us to the airport at 5:30 am; they quoted 120-130 euros, uber was ~75 euros booking on our own. I mentioned to the night staff later, they said it’s how they do things. We took the uber. That left a bad taste in my mouth.

Most staff members were wondering except for the person who initially checked us in. She was short and not very welcoming. The breakfast was excellent and staff was awesome. The room was very poor. Bathroom was horrible. A half shower and not be able to use the toilette without getting your knees hit by the door was very frustrating. Especially since we book with another couple, paid the same and got two very different rooms.

This was our last hotel on our 10 day trip, and definitely the best out of the 3. From the moment we checked in to the morning we checked out my husband and I could not fault this hotel.

Location is perfect, breakfast is plentiful with friendly and attentive staff. There is a large and relaxing bar area where hot drinks and cake can be ordered as well as alcoholic drinks throughout the day/evening. Our room as well as the rest of the hotel is clean and welcoming.

We would definitely stay at Hotel Torbrau if we were visiting Munich again.

Torbrau has a great central location - one block from the Isator train station, 3 blocks from Marienplatz. If you are looking to have a great vacation without a car, it's a perfect place to walk the Old Town. Good restaurants abound, bike rentals available right around the corner (Mike's Bikes, great people to work with). A short bike ride to the English Garden, where beauty awaits.
The best part of Torbrau is their staff: EVERYONE is genuinely pleasant, always helpful to get you what you want/need. It's the oldest Hotel in Munich, so it has smaller rooms than the newer chain hotels, but it's the employees that made a difference for me!

Ideal location next to the Isartor transit station in old Munich - direct line from airport. Considered the oldest hotel in Munich! but with an updated, more modern decor. Rooms are small but very functional and well appointed. Within walking distance to Marienplatz and many cafes & other attractions. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Shapeau was lovely for a drink but very limited snack/food options. Completely out of the control of the hotel, but can get noisy at night with revelers. We would absolutely stay again!

Great hotel in the center of the action in Munich. The staff, from the front desk to the house cleaning to the breakfast and bar staff are friendly and exceptionally helpful. Breakfast is great! Parking, if you need it, is convenient and reasonably priced.

If I had one complaint, it would be the bath towels could be a little larger and softer, but I can't really rate this hotel down for that as they make up for it in some many other ways.

Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in München, weil auch das Hotel an perfekter Lage für uns war. Das Personal sehr freundlich, die Zimmer sauber, das Frühstück absolut i.O. Preissegment eher hoch, aber es hat sich gelohnt.
Die Bar im Hause schloss etwas früh, aber es gab eine Option nebenan;-)!
Wir wünschen dem Team weiterhin alles gute und behalten das Hotel Torbräu in bester Erinnerung.

The location of the property is within walking distance to many of Munich's cultural attractions which was a plus. However, the property is quite dated and the room I was assigned had shag carpeting. The shower was also quite small and not sure how a large person would be able to access it in such a small space.

This is a beautiful and charming boutique hotel just a few blocks from Marienplatz and the famous Glockenspiel. If you’re seeking a Hilton or Steigenberger chain experience, this isn’t it—and that’s precisely its appeal.
Most rooms are very nice with updated features, and the suite bathrooms are wonderfully renovated. While rooms are smaller than typical chain hotels, they’re efficiently designed and far more characterful. Breakfast is fantastic with plenty of options served in a vibrant, café-style space that sets the perfect tone for exploring the city.
The hotel no longer has an on-site restaurant, but honestly, you won’t miss it. Dozens of excellent Bavarian restaurants are within a five-minute walk—including the world-renowned Hofbräuhaus. There’s also a cozy bar and lounge with dessert options for quieter evenings.
The staff was exceptional: courteous, accommodating, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay.
If you embrace the charm and character of a classic European boutique hotel, this is an outstanding choice. I’d absolutely return here the next time I’m in Munich.

Great location but hotel is very tired. Our room on the top floor looked old and tired. Old blue shag carpeting with a tired pre 19 century look. Spaces in this hotel are weird. Huge room off the lobby has no people in it. So much possibility here. Location can’t be beat for great shopping but I won’t be staying here again.

Room is extremely outdated. They posted pictures of updated rooms on their website and then put us in a room that looked like something out of a 1970s movie. Shaggy teal carpet and bedding that looked used.

They weren’t full either, yet chose to give us that room.

The entrance needs to be updated as well. Very old and not overly welcoming

The Hotel Torbrau was in a wonderful location. Centrally located is easy access to the metro and only a couple blocks from the Rathous. Breakfast was great and served every morning and the rooms were cleaned early each morning.

The Junior suite was very spacious and had so many cute touches. The front desk, staff and dining staff were warm, gracious, and very professional. Had our itinerary been different I would’ve chosen to stay at this hotel for the longest period of time due to how well located it was and how beautiful our room and the hotel are.
