Super hotel only two minutes walk from the station. Staff were friendly and spoke English, the rooms comfortable and full of character, plentiful breakfast with good fresh food and the Hotel's own unique tea blend. And there is a lovely terrace garden on the roof.

A well located hotel near the old town

Pretty decent hotel for a short stay (ours was just one night). Very well located for both the old town and the railway station (both of which maybe 250-300m away). Thus ideal for a short break.

The downside of our room was the 4-5 flights of steps to it in the loft, though we were warned about this a good 3 weeks prior to out stay. There are no lifts that we saw in the hotel. Not ideal if you are mobility inclined.

Possibly because of it being a loft room, the TV reception was pretty poor.

Another downside of the loft room was that the shower was only 2 feet from the floor. Probably not the case in the other rooms.

On the pus side, our room was very large though you could not fully stand everywhere in the room because of the angles of the ceilings.

The staff in reception were pretty friendly and very helpful in terms of letting us know good places to eat etc.

Breakfast was okay, but probably not worth the money considering the number of cafes, where we could have got equal options at a cheaper price.

The place was clean and tidy and well presented with lots of historic pictures and ornaments.

I would stay gain at the price charged, on the basis that the staff were nice and it was well located.

Our room was two floors up a very steep and narrow set of stairs (there is no elevator to transport people or luggage). Parking is inconvenient and who ever heard of a requirement to turn the room key back to the staff each time one leaves the property? Just didn't feel safe.

Charming! with pros and cons

This is the most charming boutique hotel. The location is excellent! The room was spacious enough however I do not care for automatic lights going on in the bathroom. I like to control the lights myself, and not be blinded. The big con is that there is no lift so be prepared to carry your suitcases up the classic narrow staircase. Nice breakfast. Parking is difficult.

We loved our recent stay at the Hotel de l'Abeille. Great location on pedestrian corridor with shopping, restaurants, and nearby cultural attractions. Found parking easily nearby. The front desk person was one of the nicest and most helpful we have experienced in a hotel in a long while. Room was nice and comfortable. Very nice rooftop patio. Only drawbacks were having to climb stairs with suitcases, and the room toilet was difficult for tall people. But a very nice, charming hotel, and we would certainly stay there again.

French charm and comfort near the train station.

The location was perfect: a five minute walk from the train station, and an easy stroll down a car-free street to the central square. The reception area was charming, and the check-in staff, efficient. The stairs are steep, but we were forewarned and do not carry a lot of luggage, so it was manageable. My room was perfectly quiet, which allowed me to keep the window open at night. Also, I appreciated the carpet-less room. Overall, very good value, and the decor made me feel like I was really in France.

It was great, just make sure people know there is no lift and the stairs are narrow. My husband has a hard time walking and these stairs were hard for him. You had a nice young gal take our bags up the stairs and how she did that, I have no idea. The room was lovely and comfortable. I would suggest some kind of not slip mat for the shower/tub though.

Lovely hotel with great location. Check in was straightforward, we were given room 402 which involved quite a climb up four flights of steep stairs - but oh so worth it when there.

Room was beautifully and quirkily decorated and had a lovely Juliet balcony overlooking the Rue de la Republique below.

Parking in the street outside hotel (Rue d’Alsace Lorraine) is possible, charged between 8:30 and 6pm I believe.

If we ever return to Orléans would book this hotel in an instant and request this room.

Loved that it is a historic hotel and all of the rooms are uniquely decorated and an added bonus is the lovely rooftop patio. Our travel friends had a corner room that had a wonderful view of the street below. Close to pastiserries, restaurants, and the town square. Front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend staying here for a unique and beautiful experience.

So much more than Joan of Arc!

This gem of a hotel manages to showcase its historic roots while providing a 21st century service and update. Very unique among today’s cookie cutter big chain hotels. The city itself is worth the trip from Paris, from the beautiful historic areas to the modern main square and shopping streets . Also, enjoy the banks of the majestic Loire river (and maybe a river tour!)

Fire alarm went off around 8.00am - no one seemed to be clear what should happen. Staff and guests continued as normal.
This is an old building with a narrow single access stair and confusing written instructions in each room. What was supposed to happen if there had been a fire ?
Is the staff seriously unconcerned about the potential risk ?
Why did it take so long to cancel ?

Good location and nice hotel but if you travel with luggage then do not stay in this hotel because there's no lift. Hotels.com website doesn't mention it so we didn't know until we got there. The stairs is so narrow and so steep that so hard to take luggage up and down. Scary experience!!!

Lovely hotel just off the centre of Orleans. Classic French styling with nice staff and pretty rooms. I'm a design freak and although it's very high french, it's done well rather than oppressively. The young desk staff are nice and very accommodating, and from previous stays, it's a good, if stereotypical breakfast.

No parking at hotel but street parking was available, for two euros per hour from 9.00 to 7.00 p.m. Only other problem is that there is no lift and we were on the fourth floor, a climb up 91 steps on a circular staircase! You need to be pretty fit.

Central and within in easy walking distance of restaurants, bars, cathedral, river etc. On street parking only, free at weekend. Nice helpful staff. Small and 3 floors. No lift. Steep spiral staircase, over 60 steps to our room on 3rd floor....a challenge with a suitcase and not suitable for the physically challenged. 24 hour front desk, entry to hotel by pushing buzzer only. Rooms clean and comfortable with great shower

The room was tiny, the bathroom is OK if you are 5'1\" or smaller. In order to hang up a coat in the stand alone closet, I had to stand on the bed as the door hits the bed. I then climb over to the other side to access the closet, then climb back to close the door. You get 1 tiny piece of soap and one tiny bottle of shampoo for the entire stay. The breakfast is expensive and consists of cold cuts, dry cereal and bread. There is no internet at all. When I asked if there was a problem, the clerk said, \"Mine works fine\" then she shrugged her shoulders. There are 4 floors and no lift.

We only stayed one night but found this hotel to be utterly charming. However, the lack of an elevator is a serious drawback because there are approximately 20+ narrow and winding stairs to each floor. Even with small bags, getting to and from our second floor room was a character builder because in France second floor means two flights. Would return only if we could stay on the first (one flight) floor.

I stayed one night in this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was small, which I expected, but the bathroom was a very good size and more modern than I expected. The decorations were stylish and reminded me that I was in France. The breakfast was ample and served in a lovely salon. The location was convenient because it was very close to the train station but also walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. I would stay here again.

Central location and a pleasant stay

We spent just a night in Orleans, mostly to see the Cathedral and a bit of Joan of Arc history on our way from the Loire Valley to Champagne. Nice city, good historic sites, old town is fun at night. The hotel is in a very central location, walkable to everything. We had a car and were able to park it overnight just down the street from the hotel for a few euros. Hotel itself has a lot of character, and awesome if you are a fan of Joan of Arc or bees -- decor is a little funky, but fun, and the staff is pleasant and helpful. Standard, but nice breakfast.

Great hotel that cared for all your needs. As there is no parking on site they have arranged for underground parking nearby at a special rate. The room was quiet at night and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with pots of coffee brought to the table. Wonderful! No constant getting up and down. It is an easy walk to the Cathedral and museums of art. Shopping is on the doorstep and good restaurants, also.

My husband and I had a lovely, one night stay at this boutique hotel in Orleans over the Christmas holiday. The property maintains its original charm while being equipped with modern day conveniences. The staff at the front desk were helpful and polite. We will return if we end up touring through the Loire Valley in the future.

Hotel de l'Abeille, Orleans was an older style hotel close to the main rail station, trams and short walk to the old centre. Many historical sites have easy access from the hotel. The hotel has a private rooftop garden with a fine view to the cathedral. Many Joan of Arc paintings, statues etc abound through the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but recently renovated. The bathroom light was sensor operated with no switch so came on every time we entered. Not great at 02:00 for sleeping partner.

We were a family of four and had room 106, a two room suite, which was quite comfortable. We really liked the decor. And the front desk staff were a bit young at times, but they sought back up now for Maisch and when needed. We would definitely stay here again. It was wonderful to be so close to the center, we were able to walk for dinner and breakfast as well.

We loved this hotel with its charming and quirky decor, with bee patterns everywhere. Perfectly situated in the centre of the city, and within easy walking distance of the old historic streets, the main square, restaurants and shops - but yet quiet at night. Oozes charm, etc. BUT BUT BUT no a/c, no fan and our room overlooked street with street tram which is very, very noisy. Could not leave windows open due to noise, and then suffered through lack of ventilation. And it was not even hot outside. What happens on a not day with no A/C or fans?!

Il est indiqué qu’il y a un parking affilié à l’hôtel, mais en réalité ce n’est pas le cas. On m’a dit de lire les panneaux. De plus, j’ai failli ne pas dormir à cause du bruit dans la rue, avec des travaux jusqu’à 2 heures du matin.

La troisième chose que je n’ai pas appréciée, c’est que le service de ménage a essayé d’ouvrir ma porte à deux reprises entre 10h30 et 11h alors que j’étais en train de me préparer.

Lorsque l’on m’a demandé comment s’était passé mon séjour, j’ai poliment mentionné ces points, et la jeune femme m’a répondu, tout aussi poliment, que le bruit n’était pas de la faute de l’hôtel.

C’était extrêmement décevant et je n’y retournerais pas.
