Personally I think it still well maintain considering it has been operated for many years, the furniture and room condition are aging, hopefully the management could replace them accordingly.

Overnight couple trip

Checked in for a 1 night couple stay in a Deluxe King room, check in was smooth, staff were helpful and courteous.
Room was spacious, sound proofing was reasonable.
Did not book with breakfast, so can't comment on breakfast quality or choices.

Disappointing Room Conditions

Stayed one night at Grand Paragon Hotel, JB. While the check-in process was smooth and the staff were friendly, the room experience fell short. The toilet had a poor flushing system, and I could clearly hear guests talking next door in the middle of the night. Despite being in a non-smoking room, the guest next door was smoking, and the smell came into my room.

Overall, not the restful stay I hoped for. The hotel needs to improve room maintenance and enforce non-smoking policies more strictly.

Family suite was spacious. We had to change room because the previous one wasn’t cold enough, there seemed to be some problems with the air conditioning. The second one was ok, we missed housekeeping the second day and asked for someone to empty the dustbin and bring 2 more shower gel and 4 bottles of water. We were only given 2 bottles of water and 1 shower gel. The housekeeping man came quickly to pass us the items without emptying the dustbin. The flush of toilets were not good. Had to push the button and hold it for 15seconds for it to be flushed completely. The flush button is the same for all the 3 toilet bowls in the room.

We got a room, probably on the old wing or floor. The door and furniture looks pretty old, with visible scratches. Other members of family were in room that seemed newer and nicer looking. But our room is clean though although the decor needs some work. The bathing area is not separated from the dry areas, so water might flow out and makes the whole toilet floor wet.

But am happy with the service of most counter staff, as they helped with check in and late check out.

It's near to KSL mall, within walking distance. The drive to other malls are pretty convenient too.

Property is poorly maintained. Fell several stars short of a 5-star hotel. Travelling party of 6 for business. One person had dirty sheets that seemed like someone had slept in it prior to his arrival. I had cigarette burns clearly visible on the sheets and peeling wallpaper. Another traveler reported hearing \"critters\" in the ceiling. Not a good experience, and on top of this, hotel has refused to refund 2nd night stay, since we checked out early and moved to a better hotel for night #2 in Johor Bahru. Not recommended.

It’s conveniently located just a walk away from KSL Mall. But being an older hotel, the condition is not great - bed was squeaky, plastic around bathroom door was cracked and not replaced, bathroom is of good size but the shower area is small. Overall ok for a night’s stay.

Non smoking room but the room has slight smoke odor. Hasnt been dusted in a while, there's visible coat of dust on the card reader on door and inside the cupboards. Otherwise bedsheet was clean and bed is comfortable. Service was good.

Pros and Cons

Pros: 1) great location, near KSL; 2) helpful staff: most employees we interacted with were nice and efficient; 3) good breakfast spread - loved the local options; and 4) spacious room - we felt like we were staying in a mansion.

Cons: 1) our room was very noisy. At first we thought it was a neighboring room. But then the next day I realized it was probably the Ginza Lounge located a floor above. We were staying on the 13th floor and the lounge was on the 14th floor. The front desk did offer a room change but only to a room without bathtubs; 2) faint cigarette smell at times - not sure if this is related to the lounge being on the floor above but at times we had to turn the air con off as we could smell a faint cigarette smoke smell. None of us own cigarettes nor do we smoke. For what it’s worth, the smell went away after a while but it was still extremely disgusting; and 3) light switches not properly labeled - hard to figure out which light switch was for which light, especially when you don’t want to wake your partner up in the middle of the night by clicking the light switch for all the lights in the room.

Water drainage can be heard from the beds. Water seems to always be flowing for a good 5 minutes after the taps were closed. First room we had had smoking fumes. Requested to change but staff pushed back. Challenged them to come in to sniff and do a nose test - only then did they relent.

Surprisingly great! Room is clean, cheap and spacious. Restaurant is well renovated inside. Buffet breakfast is decent. Hotel is walking distance from KSL. Though dimly lit at night, it's actually a housing area and should be generally safe to walk through

I want to rate 5 stars as this is a good hotel but poor management.
- stingy on bottle waters and poor quality of hotel amenities
- smelly towels
- request towel change but didn’t come. Instead I need to bring the towel and DIY exchange
- level 14 KTV is very noisy, unable to sleep till 2am.
Above can be improved when management willing to look into them seriously.

Wonderful place with delicious breakfast and good location. Unfortunately, the room I stayed in showed signs of wear and tear, with cracks in the bathtub and some bits of the bathroom held on with tape! But looking past that, a lovely time was had in otherwise very comfy surroundings.

The hotel lobby looks quite decent. However, it is quite an old hotel and might need some upgrades and maintenance for the room. The room is spacious and room cleanliness is acceptable. The room is not sound proof, we can hear people talking and walking from the room. It is just walking distance to the KSL mall. Overall, I give this room 6/10 for the rating.

Pros: Check-in of room is fast. Reception Staff is professionally trained. Bed is clean and neat. Buffet varieties are great. Restaurant staff are friendly, polite and efficient. Egg station is a plus point. Venue is great for shopping nearby.

Need for improvement:
Flushing system of the toilet is poor. Unable to flush away toilet papers even with full flush. Found some hairs on toilet bowl seat and sink. Some stains on the sofa seat and dusts on the internal of locked window. TV remote is sticky. WIFI unable to connect at level 17. Buffet breakfast is so-so. Nasi lemak rice, mashed potato and chicken curry needs to relook into for taste and presentation..

Room aircon was initially not cold even when temp was at lowest. After technician came, both rooms aircon too powerful with the aircon (lowest fan speed) blowing directly on the faces of the person sleeping further from the aircon. The toilet bowl for one room was quite dirty whereas bathtub for other room was also dirty that we didn’t use. Kettles very dirty. Hair dryer spoiled & replacement given promptly. Requested for toilet paper as it ran out & after 30mins it still didnt came. In the end used other room toilet. We pressed button for housekeeping & was shocked no housekeeping done when we got back at night. We then requested for just replacement of towels since it was already late. It didn’t came after waited for abt 20mins so my friend went down to reception to request personally as we can’t get through housekeeping & reception nbrs. It was only then that the recep told us that there will be no housekeeping throughout our stay & that if we wanted towels to be changed then we should have told them during check-in. She said her colleague would have told us but none of us recalled that the staff had told us this during our check-in. Friend physically waited at the reception as we have a feeling our request will be ignored just like the previous 2 times. The recep only went to get the items about 10mins after seeing that friend still waiting near the reception. Overall cleanliness for room average. Their breakfast & lobby area was good though. Staff also friendly.

Gym was not maintained, also aircon leak from ceiling at one of the corners. Machines are not maintained and not in workout condition.

Grand Paragon used to be our go-to hotel before the pandemic. But the standards have dropped tremendously.

1. We were “upgraded” to a king bedroom from standard twins. However, the air con in the room was constantly having loud noises. The technician came to rectify it but it came back the next morning.

2. There was a loud noise from the toilet whenever there was someone from the other room using the tap.

3. Was given only one card during check-in. When we went to get another card the next morning, the counter staff simply asked for our room number and gave us the card without verifying our details.

3. Breakfast buffet experience was terrible. Food was not topped up, limited food options, multiple tables were uncleared, dirty flooring.

4. The hotel common area is just simply rundown.

Rooms were above expectation considering the price paid. Free parking on site. However kept having problems with my key card and had to approach counter staff for help twice. Swimming pool was not clean and water was green. Breakfast was so-so, nothing amazing but no complaints.
