The air conditioning was. It working in my room and the heating was constantly on meaning the room was like a sauna. I had the window open most of the time but the noise from the road outside was loud. I reported this for exception who said they would send a technician but this made no difference. The overall standard of the rooms is poor and shabby

Poor customer service

The hotel night receptionist did not recognize my gold level status with Hotel.com. I asked him if there was any upgrade available and he said no without looking in his computer for the inventory of rooms. He simply said you have to biggest room which was a complete lie, We saw other bigger room on our same floor. I also asked him regarding the free drinks offered each day and he said we only get a welcome drink on the first day only. I tried to show him the paperwork from Hotel.com and he refused look at it.

Don’t stay in the annex

We stayed in this hotel last December and had a fantastic experience and wonderful room. This time, for some odd reason, we stayed in the annex. The room was not good, broken furnitures, bouncing chairs, missing curtain, bathroom fixtures broken, lack of shelf space. And to top, the room safety box broke with our passports inside and we had to wait more than 30 minutes to have someone over to open. Ups and the rate a was double from winter time. Go figure!

Great accessibility by public transport and foot. Close to a nice park to get outside for some fresh air. In the annex, hallways can be noisy and echoing and there is no view and limited light from the room I had, but it was functional for what I needed. (And they made an effort to make it more appealing with a mural… fun touch!) Appreciated having a kettle and very small fridge. Gym is small and basic, but again, had what I really needed. Everything was clean and housekeeping was very good. For the price, I was satisfied!

Booked as it seemed a reasonable price for a 4 star hotel, and while not in the centre, only a ten minute walk away.

The reality is after checking in, I had to cross the busy road to the \"annexe\" building... I guess this was once a different hotel that Best Western have purchased.

The room was very old fashioned - think 70's style wood furniture. I was not impressed to find a clump of the previous occupants hair on the floor (tiled, so easy to clean).

The bed was tiny (single), the aircon unit gurgled all night, and the building was noisy with other people on the stairwell coming in after what was obviously a great night for them... so much so that I had to ask them to be quiet.

Breakfast was very average, with the cleaner literally cleaning around people with some disgusting looking rag stinking of industrial disinfectant.

Honestly it's hard to see where the 4 stars have come from - maybe 25 years ago they qualified. However, the standard is poor and felt more like a good effort in an economically deprived country than a 4 star in an economic centre of Europe.

Cheap for a reason - best avoided.

It was an excellent stay at the hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly and provided excellent service. The hotel is clean and bedroom clean - cleaners do a great job. It’s only 10 minute walk to the main centre with the shops and restaurants- not far at all. My only complaint is the noise from the street. Without shutting your window you will get an early wake up call but the air con in the room is great. The area is also really nice with the university close by and beautiful gardens.

Staff is always very friendly and ready to assist in any way they can regarding any issues you may face, even if it has nothing to do with your stay at the hotel. Breakfast is awesome, lots of variety and is very well attended by the staff to be sure it is always full and clean the area several times per hour. Rooms are clean and typical of a European hotel room. There is a small bar downstairs and chairs/tables where you can hold a meeting with another person. The rooms facing the street are a bit noisier than the ones on the other side of the building. There is a gym downstairs and also a sauna but did not try either. The hotel is well located for a transfer between the train station and the airport. Lots of buses going around and the tram stops is less than fifty meters. Lots of dining options around the hotel.

Easy access by tram from central station, or by bus (16) from airport. Lots of food venues to pick from (Japanese, French, Italian, etc). It is a small hotel so less chances to get noisy. I had a room with view on the streets so you can hear the traffic and the people from the street. I am staying again at that hotel in a week and will request a room not giving on the street and will see if it makes a difference. Breakfast is great with a wide variety of choices. The breakfast area is refresh constantly with new items and cleaned on a regular basis. The size of the rooms are typical for a European hotel. Only one elevator which, during check in/out can get really busy especially when you're on the top floor. Front desk is slow both for check in and check out so give yourself plenty time when checking out, especially if you have a taxi or a train/flight to catch.

My one-night stay at Best Western Plus Grand Hotel was excellent. Customer service was outstanding-I had an issue with turning on the heat and the front desk lady crossed the street and came to my room to turn it on.

The room had everything I needed including a hot water kettle to make coffee or tea. Everything was quite clean especially the bathroom-loved their shower.

It is quite easy to get from the central train station to the hotel-take the Tram1 and it will leave you across the street from the hotel. Taxis are quite expensive as I learned the hard way-25 euros for a ride from the train station to the hotel, which was about 1.4 miles or about 5 stops on the tram.

We were only on a short break and spent little time in the hotel, so did not make use of all the facilities. But it was clean and perfect for our needs. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Good Location for Luxembourg City Centre

The hotel is a good location 5-10 minutes walk from the City Centre. The room was a good size and comfortable, although the noise from other residents in the corridor could be a bit disturbing.
Breakfast was OK - not a lot hot for vegetarians (eggs!) and none for vegans.
I failed to find the remote control for the television, although this was not an issue and I would have contacted reception if I had wanted to watch, but it seemed odd.
There was only fruit tea and powdered creamer in the room supplies - a bigger range of tea and some UHT milk would have been good.
I think the towels were replaced each day (either that or the used ones were folded beautifully!) and there seemed no easy way to stop this (some hotels ask you to leave towels on the floor if you want them replaced). I would have happily kept the same towels for my stay and reduced the environmental overhead

Wellness area pleasant and nice to use.
Drawbacks: if you intend to work in the so-called “business center”, consisting of a PC near the bar in the lobby, think again. Noise levels are unbeatable in the morning, around lunchtime and early afternoon. After checking out you will need to go elsewhere to work.
Constructions are going on in the building next door, making sleeping after 7am impossible.

There was an issue when we checked in as I had booked a twin room, however the hotel had it down as a double and there was no twin rooms, or staff available to split the bed. However this was done the very next day when housekeeping were available

Decent size room, quick check-in, the hotel is 5 minutes from the bus stop for the airport bus, the tram stop is close by. The main shopping area is an 8-minute walk, you can find a lot of bars nearby.

Remember bus, tram and train is free on Saturday and will be free every day from March 2020

Ok for a one-night stay

I chose this hotel based on its proximity to the Grand Theatre. Classic room felt cramped. Was able to check in at already 12 pm - thank you. Would have felt more comfortable in Annex building if front door had been closed at all times. Breakfast could have had a wider range of options given it cost 15 EUR. All in all I've seen better value for money elsewhere, don't know whether this is just the city of Luxemburg being more expensive in general.

My family and me visit luxembourg every year for my nephew’s birthday and we always use hotel Victor Hugo.
It is perfectly placed for the carnival and everywhere is walkable from here easily there are also stops for Luxembourg’s excellent (and soon to be free!) public transport systems close by.
It lacks the amenities of the bigger hotels, the rooms are nice, not the largest around but are always clean and well presented.
The best thing by far about this hotel are the staff, they always make you feel especially welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them, they are the reason we always go back year after year.
I promise you won’t find a better hotel for the price in Luxembourg, before I found Victor Hugo I have paid more than double the price for way less satisfaction.

Fine... but too expensive for what it is.

I found this to be overpriced for what it was; especially because it said on hotels.com that my breakfast was included in the booking... and then it wasn't... and then upon checkout they charged me 30 EUROS for having a piece of bread and a cup of coffee! Hotel is of course very nice, good walking location to the city center - but the buildings are quirky. There are two buildings; breakfast and rooms and gym etc etc are across the street from one another. Would attempt to look for something cheaper next time. Fine hotel, but not worth the price in my opinion.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in a pleasant area to the north of the centre of the city. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. Buffet breakfast was generally of good quality, but the fruit juice was squash. The furnishings in the lobby are designed for looks rather than comfort, and some of the steps are awkward and potentially hazardous.

A Lovely Stay In Luxembourg

We had an enjoyable stay at this extremely well run hotel. On arrival we received a warm welcome from Halim who was on Reception, even though we arrived at 10:30 at night. Our room was clean and well maintained, with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The bathroom had a powerful shower and all the amenities required. There was a good choice for breakfast which was tasty. All the hotel staff were very friendly but special thanks go to Halim and Victoria as nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.

Annexe is across the road from the main check-in building. No where to really pull up with luggage if you arrive by car. The main parking lot is inexpensive and about 50-100metres walk from the hotel.
