Fantastic, fun hotel in the midst of Kirchberg, 2 minutes walk from Philhamonie tram stop, 16 minutes from the airport and 10 into the Grund. Very quirky, with lots of little touches and an excellent bar. Sunday brunch is a must, as is the boulangerie, which serves excellent coffee and a range of delicious pastries. You must try the raspberry croissant - it's sublime! Highly recommended. We will most definitely be back!

There was an awful smell in the bathroom throughout my stay. I reported it to the front desk but nothing was done about it. I later discovered it was the shower drain but the smell was pungent

A pleasant stay. It’s in the modern part of the city and an easy tram ride to the old town. Rooms and style are what you would expect if you have stayed at a Mama Shelter before. Fun, stylish, playful. I did find having the same soap to wash your hair and body a little disconcerting and at first thought they forgot to place the shampoo and conditioner in the room. It worked though. The bed was very comfortable and it was in a very quiet location so perfect for light sleepers. Breakfast was very good. With even fresh fruit and vegetables to make your own juice Sadly, dinner was a disappointment. Grilled squid was like old shoe leather which you couldn’t even cut with a knife. It was an extremely busy night so service was hit and miss too so maybe the kitchen just couldn’t cope. A very generous garlic bread so that hit the spot. Overall, it was good and worth checking out.

could be much better!

It's a beautiful hotel and convenient, but I couldn't have any sleep! They have a cute restaurant onsite, that said, people were parting and music going on all night, not great as the rooms aren't soundproof! Then once the party was over morning and loud walkers started to pass by, not a great experience! They should do something to make the room soundproof!

Mama Shelter is conveniently located in Kirchberg, close to the tramway line. The hotel is very modern and cosy, the rooms are comfortable and generous. The restaurant and bar as well as the bakery are all good with a tasty modern and fun atmosphere.
We stayed in 2 connecting rooms with our 2 daughters. Our kids just loved the fun and cool vibe of this wonderful and not too expensive hotel. We will be back for sure !

Amazing luxurious stay in this cool and quirky hotel. Very easily reachable by tram from the train station and to the city centre. My family and I had a nice stay at Mama shelter. It was a quick walk and even quicker tram ride from the Pfaffenthan-kirchberg train stop. The hotel workers were friendly and held our bags until we were able to check in. They gave us ideas about things to do in the area as well as some restaurants. We ended up getting some pastries at the Mama bakery downstairs and they was fabulous! We slept well in a quiet room with two queen size beds. It was really nice to have a large room available in Europe! The room was clean and unique. We would stay again.

Ridiculous stay!

Went to Luxembourg to stay away from the craziness of the New Year’s Eve – hence I wanted to have a quiet moment to end the year. Guess what -- it was not sadly. There was a night club-like loud event on the roof top with loud heavy metal music until 3am because it was a New Year’s Eve. This was clearly audible from my room. The fact that it had a nice room design and comfortable bedding, it had a very poor sound proof.

The reception area is very small despite the fact the hotel has huge space for a restaurant and a roof top terrace (where there was a loud event!). The reception area only had one huge table and a small table with lots of chairs. The reception area can be packed like crazy if its busy.

Worst sleep and I would not come back to this place again. Not recommended for everyone. Avoid at any cost.

Clean, easy connection to free public transport. Disappointed roof bar not open. Nothing on hotel website when booking to say bar is seasonal. Even In pre- arrival email it gave bar opening times as if roof bar would be open during stay. No space in ground floor bar for relaxing seat with drink, only at a food table or bar stool. During stay left for neighbouring hotel for evening drinks. Mini bar snacks sign says to go to floor 1 vending machine s, they were not operating. Informed to go to neighbouring hotel. Communication on website, pre arrival emails and signage needs to improve.

Modern without detracting from the actual hotel function.

Rooms and bar etc seemingly lit by 20w bulbs, for people with any sight problems its like a living trip hazard test.

Breakfast was good, the pizza was good. Staff work hard and do a good job. Would be happy to return here again. The free tram to most locations is excellent and a 4 min walk from the hotel. 15 minutes from the airport so easy to reach.

The room is huge, and the bed is very comfortable - a good size too. Well located, and not too busy over the weekend although the bar downstairs is extremely popular, so you may hear some music playing late at night; this didn't bother me as I am normally up late but light sleepers should be mindful of this.

The only downside is that the room was not clean. I found pieces of food all over the floor and had to contact the reception twice before someone came to hoover. I wish there had been a better response, or that it didn't happen in the first place, but that was the only problem of my trip.

Weekend break

Amazing quirky decor makes the hotel feel special. Great location for public transport -the bus to and from the airport stops nearby (6 or 16). Tram stop is also just a couple of minutes walk away - stop is Philharmonie Mudam. This made it very easy to get about. Museum of Modern Art is a short walk away. Reception staff were very friendly helpful and professional. Reception also smells amazing :) Breakfast was a good selection..all the usual options croissants fresh bread english breakfast or continental selection. Fresh orange juice was good. The restaurant is really cool and also very lively in the evening. Had the pizzas for dinner and they were huge and really good. Rooms are smart..with solid eco toiletries. Only thing i would have liked is a kettle and tea / coffee in room which i did miss but overall this is a great place to stay and i would come again.

There's a bar/club open quite late IN THE HOTEL, so nobody really gets to sleep until they shut things down after 1am. No coffee in the room – charge 3 euros for one in the lobby instead. Not great. Otherwise, really nice amenities and comfortable room – just wish it felt less like an unrelenting cash grab.

No room services. Impossible to call the reception, no phone number. No wifi code available in the room, asked at the reception. Snack dispenser at the first floor but not available, empty and switched off. Take away for eating and waiting like other customers coming at the restaurant, and very easy to come back to the room with a large plate...The evening, Hotel doorman unwelcoming. Rooftop barmen useless, have to call them for a drink after 10min waiting, at 17h00. Staff dresscode, please. 18h, the room was not cleaned, at the reception, would you like us to clean it ? Yes...please...
Otherwise hotel decorations are nice.

Cool, funky hotel on the Main Street car line

Cool, funky hotel not too far from downtown! Entrance was slightly confusing, as you could not park at the entrance to check in. Otherwise, room was clean and fairly comfortable. One minor complaint was the bench/chair by the table. No back support and not at all comfortable to sit on.

I love the vibe at Mama Shelter. The lobby, elevators and restaurant are unique. The hotel is outside the city center, but public transportation is near, clean, safe… and free. It takes roughly 12-15 minutes to the beautiful city center by tram.
