We were so impressed by this hotel. We would totally stay here again. The manager/owner? Was so helpful and sweet. Rooms comfortable and the small town was sweet, if very small. Loved staying a bit away from the hustle bustle. The bus line into Salzburg was amazing as well!!

A delightful place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Garden Hotel Sallerhof. We received a very warm and informative welcome - including bus advice for very easy visits to central Salzburg.

Our room was very comfortable. It had a balcony with views to the mountains and a table and chairs.

The property is immaculately clean throughout. The gardens are delightful.

Breakfast - superb. A great choice of foods, cheeses and meats and a range of muesli ingredients along with eggs cooked to order. Very nice coffee! All served in a beautifully designed new breakfast room overlooking a garden terrace - on which tables also are set on fine days. A wonderful place for breakfast each day.

We left earler today and look forward to returning some time.

Our stay at Sallerhof in, was absolutely delightful. The hotel boasts beautifully maintained rooms that are either brand new or impeccably well-kept. We loved the balcony with its stunning views of the mountains, which provided a perfect backdrop for our mornings and evenings.

The location of Sallerhof is ideal, making it easy to access all the activities in the area. Whether you’re exploring the local sights or heading out for a day trip, everything is conveniently close by.

One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast. There was a great variety to choose from, with plenty of options to suit all tastes. The quality of the breakfast was excellent, and we particularly appreciated the variety and freshness of the offerings. Given how fantastic the breakfast was, we found ourselves wishing that the hotel also offered dinner; we’re certain it would have been just as impressive.

The owners and staff at Sallerhof were incredibly friendly and welcoming, contributing to the warm and inviting atmosphere of the hotel. Their hospitality made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.

Additional perks like included parking and spare blankets in the room added to our comfort and convenience. The beds were very comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of activities.

Overall, Sallerhof exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a charming and comfortable place to stay in Grödig.

This might be one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. It was an adorable country inn-type of place but also kind of upscale. The rooms on the first floor are modern and have AC (and it actually worked!!) and a little patio. The breakfast buffet was incredible, best we've seen anywhere. Grödig is a sleepy little town, not much for dinner options, but it was worth staying there for this hotel. It's also a great location in terms of being between Salzburg and Berchtesgaden (each about 15-20 minutes away). Highly recommend.

The hotel is beautiful and located within a 15 minute drive of Salzburg. But what ruined this hotel for us was the owner’s policy about charging extra for newborn children. After our first breakfast there, the owner approached us and asked to speak at the reception. He informed us that there would be an additional €25 euro per night charge to our room because we had a newborn with us. This naturally frustrated us, and he explained that it was his hotel’s policy to charge extra because ‘it requires more work’ for our child’s stay, and we needed to pay for a bed for each occupant in the room. We told him that our child would sleep beside us, and didn’t require any extra bed for their stay. He then began to tell stories of other guests bringing multiple teenage children with them to the hotel without paying for extra beds, which was quite disturbing to him. We continued to explain that our newborn wasn’t in need of an extra bed, bigger room, extra amenities or food during breakfast, but he continued to be inflexible with his attitude, which disappointed us more and more the longer the conversation continued. Yes, the hotel is beautiful, but I would never bring a family here again.

We chose this hotel as a base camp for three days in the area. It is situated just south of Saltzburg, which gives one the means of exploring the city (via local bus #25) as well as points south of interest to us (Werfen, 23 miles away, and Hallstatt, 43 miles away). Checking in was a breeze, thanks to the friendly young woman at the front desk, who not only oriented us to Ty’s facility and gave us our keys but also walked us personally to our room (that was a first!). The facility itself is outstanding, built apparently with an eye to sparing no expense for producing a solid and beautiful structure. It is tastefully decorated throughout, giving it a very homey field. The breakfast room is among the most comfortable that I ever set in, outside its doors there being four more tables for use during nicer weather and a lovely landscaped garden. Two other points: the place has a working elevator, and the Wi-Fi is excellent! The rooms are large by European standards, and are well thought out, down to the detail of providing a pair of scissors on the wall which we used twice (thank you again!). Breakfast offered lots of choice of food items, as well as lots of lovely space in which to enjoy it. In short, if in the area again would we choose to stay here? Absolutely we would! It’s a four-star property in our opinion.

Amazing Hotel in Salzburg

Amazing hotel. A hidden gem in Salzburg. Everything was wonderful. The staff, the rooms, the views, the food, the location, the cleanliness, etc.
Would highly recommend this hotel.
Free parking is also available. The only thing we found strange was that the lobby/reception closes at 7pm until 7am the next day. So if you’re planning to check in after those hours keep that in mind.
An iron and microwave would also have been nice in the room. But it was no big deal.
The hotel is about a 15 minute drive to the city which was great because you’re not in the noisy hustle and bustle area, yet such a close drive away in calm, quiet and peaceful surroundings.
We were a part of 6 and had 4 rooms. The rooms and bathrooms are new and huge and everything is very tastefully decorated. It was so nice to relax on the balcony after a day of sight seeing.
Would definitely come back and stay at this hotel.

This hotel is about a 15 minute bus ride south of Salzburg. Reviewing this hotel from the perspective of being an American I would 100% stay here again. The room was clean and modern. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The breakfast was amazing. Plenty of parking in the lot. Half of the parking is protected with a roof. There is a mini fridge and safe in the room. The balcony door has a bug screen which is rare in Europe. The walk to the bus stop is 5 minutes. The bus ride to the center of Salzburg is about 15-20 minutes. Without a doubt I would stay here again.

If you are visiting Salzburg and driving, this is the perfect place to stay. Close enough to Salzburg to go into the city for concerts or to sight-see, but away from the hustle and bustle. Free parking. Great base to see Bertchesgaden, Hallstatt, or the Eagles Nest. Great staff. We loved it!

I liked that we could easily walk to the bus for Salzburg and walk around the village of Groedig. The breakfast was very nice with good coffee, overlooking the scenic grounds. The towels were stiff and scratchy and thin and need replacing and we could hear the baby crying next door and running around at 6:00 in the morning as well as a hair dryer and voices. No air conditioning, stuffy even with open window.

We chose to stay at Hotel Sallerhof because it”s close location to Salzburg and Berchtesgarden, Germany. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Room is clean, parking was easy, the staffs were extremely nice. They suggested us to take bus nr. 25 to Salzburg due to the parking limitations in Salzburg. The bus rides were about 20 minuets and took you right to the old town.
We would definitely stay here again.

A brilliant hotel, highly recommended

A really great find! If you want to visit Salzburg but also find time for other things such as cycling and walking in the beautiful hills and mountains, the little town of Grodig is a lovely place to do these things from, and the Hotel Sallerhof makes everything so easy. There is a frequent, clean and efficient bus service that runs into Salzberg and other locations from the bus stop a short distance from the hotel. You can hire bikes, get advice, maps and recommendations on cycle routes and walks, there are brilliant restaurants in the vicinity (would highly recommend Restaurant Sagenhoft). The owners of the hotel provide a relaxing, calm, peaceful hotel with beautiful views, a smashing breakfast and all with such lovely friendly and efficient service. The only reason we don't give them a full 5 marks overall is the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the lovely bedrooms! We like our morning cup of tea and to be able to relax in our room with a hot drink when we return from a day out. There are facilities downstairs in the foyer where you can get a variety of drinks from a machine that you pay for, and it is not expensive, but it is hassle and was a downside for us. Other than that, a brilliant hotel, and one we would highly recommend.

Perfect place to stay near Salzburg

The hotel was great. Incredibly clean, quiet, excellent service. The breakfasts were incredible. Scenic bus ride into Salzburg. We bought the Salzburg pass and were able to do everything we wanted including several sites outside the city. We missed the cable ride up the mountain because of the weather, but it was covered by the pass. We ate at two very nice restaurants in Grodig.

I highly reccommend this hotel for anyone looking to visit Salzburg. It’s modern, picturesque, conveniently located and has excellent management. Comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, lovely new dining facility for breakfast just to name a few. Klauss and his staff were extremely helpful from the day I made the reservation until the day we left. He arranged local tours for us and transportation. We felt very safe in the area and found people to be very kind and helpful.

Beware of hot days

This hotel is nice, with two major exceptions. One, there is a dairy farm in close proximity to the hotel, which can leave a foul smell in the air. Secondly, the room that I stayed in was extremely poorly ventilated. Because I was there during a heat wave, the room was intolerably hot (even with the windows left open overnight). I would be highly wary of staying here again in the summer. However, barring heat it is nice.

Stayed at the Hotel Sallerhof the first weekend in July. The location is the small town of Grodig just outside of Salzburg and it is a beautiful little town. The front desk attendant was very kind and helpful, offering suggestions for restaurants nearby and giving us maps of the town and sites to see in Salzburg.
Our room was roomy and comfortable. We were able to leave the door to the deck open, which kept the room a nice temperature. Everything was clean and neat. The hotel was quiet, although we could see guests coming and going outside our window.
Breakfast was included with our stay. It was filling without being too heavy and included lots of fresh fruit, tomatoes, yogurt, breads/rolls and sliced meats. I enjoyed the variety.
Overall, our stay there was wonderful and I highly recommend it. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful gardens and balconies with great vistas! It does not have AC, and a fan would make the stay a bit more comfy in the summer, but that is a very minor distraction.

Positives: Good breakfast included with fresh local products. Pretty views from room balcony and close to outdoor activities. Negatives: Quality of towels and beds sub-par. Horrible blow-dryer. Beautiful Hotel with a beautiful view

The room was excellent with a very nice view to the mountains, everything was clean and beds are really comfortable. I asked for laundry and the owner promised me that he would have it by the end of the day ready and he complied. Klaus is the owner and he is a very trusted person, I forgot money on the safe and he helped me to transfer it to my bank account. I highly recommend this hotel, because of the place, the location (Grodig) and specially because of the quality of person that manages it. The breakfast is awesome, a lot of varieties to choose from, excellent coffee, breads, cheeses, etc. With no doubt I would come back to the Sallerhof. Thanks!!!!

We'll be back!

The owner and front desk manager goes out of his way to help. He's wonderful! We weren't able to arrive until after 11pm (2300), and the front desk usually closes before 8. He left keys for us in a lock box by the front door. He also answered all of our many questions about concerts in Salzburg. The city is only 15 minutes away by car.

Our rooms were spacious with great bathrooms and a beautiful view. Each room also has a mini fridge, a safe and, for the kids, a step stool in the bathroom.

Breakfast is a good cold buffet with many delicious local dairy choices.

The only negatives are the very soft mattress, a bathroom fan, which sounds like an aircraft taking off and the local fire whistle. It probably rarely goes off, but it did when we were there. So be aware that what sounds like an air raid siren next to your pillow is nothing to worry about. Just worry about getting back to sleep after your heart is beating out of your chest! ;)

My wife and I stayed there for 4 nighs as a base to explore the region. It´s a family owned small hotel, excellent service and quite well mantained. Good breakfast, The location was perfect to access the roads ad attractions nearby. My only negative comment is the internet signal at the room I stayed ( the last on the hallway ) was poor and I had to go down to the lobby for a stable signal.

As it is family run you get all the small added touches you dont get from the big hotels, there was nothing about it you could fault. they straight away told us about the salzburg card which ended up saving us £70 it is a must if youare there for a few days. The breakfast is all local sourced and marmalades jams etc home made everything was first class.

The staff was welcoming and pleasant and the hotel grounds well kept and appealing. We stayed in August and we recommend that you bring insect repellant and that you wear it to bed! We would love to give this hotel a better review because we liked that staff but we were very uncomfortable. The pretty room had no way to cool it.... except for open windows... but the bugs prohibited comfort. There was nightly noise from the nearby highway. Great access to Salzburg but the hotel only offered breakfast and there are few dining options close by. We borrowed their bicycles but only recommend them for short rides.

Our room was hot and stuffy with no AC so we had to open the balcony door and window. With only a gauze curtain and no screens, mosquitos got into the room and we each had more than a dozen bites in the morning. Wifi was very poor and dropped frequently. There's no fridge in the room. When we asked for ice we were told none was available since \"the water is good here so nobody has ever asked for ice\". These negatives outweighed the positives for us.

Picturesque hotel that didn't disappoint

Beautiful and inviting entrance to the hotel that didn't disappoint once inside. There is a great attention to detail in reception, in our room and in the breakfast room.
All staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. This hotel very much has a homely feel to it.
Located just a 20 minute bus ride to Salzburg in the quiet village of Grodig, this is an ideal location for peace with the option of the city.
Very good value for money.

Convenience hotel to Konigssee area

Room is comfortable and clean. However no free drink water or coffee and tea provided (pay money). No boil kettle available is inconvenience fro us. Western style restaurant is nearby for lunch and dinner but a little bit expensive. Free parking space is an advantage.

Perfect stay at the Hotel Sallerhof, near Salzburg

From the moment we arrived and were shown to our room we knew we had made the right choice in the Hotel Sallerhof. The room was spacious with a generous double bed, a spotlessly clean bathroom and a balcony with a table & chairs. The brekfast was generous, you could help yourself, and the food was very good quality with some local, organic produce, when available. The hotel is family run and had that feel to it, very welcoming. The owners were very helpful in making suggestions for our stay, providing information and we were able to buy discount (Salzburg) cards for our stay. The hotel is well placed for the city of Salzburg, which was about a 30 minute bus journey from the hotel, situated in the town of Grodig. The town was pleasant and had something of a village feel about it, we were often greeted by local people as we were out walking. There is plenty to see and do. The only one slight drawback is that there were no tea / coffee facilities in the room ( although you could purchase a wide variety of drinks & snacks, from vending machines in the hotel reception, at any time). I can throughly recommend the Hotel Sallerhof.

Exceptional family run independent hotel.

I cannot praise this independent, family run hotel highly enough. There is a warm welcome awaiting you, suggestions for trips and restaurants together with an explanation of where these various places are situated. They make you feel valued as a guest. The rooms are delightful. Presentation and comfort to a very high standard. The buffet breakfast was delicious and varied. Will definitely be returning. First class.

The comfort of a bed and breakfast in a hotel

We loved the Sallerhof. It was outside of Salzburg and such a quaint area, we were able to walk to restaurants and the grocery store. The breakfast buffet wasn't large but still had great choices, and the service was excellent. We were given great information and directions from the reception area. The only downside was lack of air conditioning and although it's a non-smoking hotel (yeah), the room next door smoked on their patio all the time so we couldn't keep our patio door open.

Lovely friendly place, family run

Really pleasant stay at this lovely friendly family run hotel! Rooms were clean & spacious with a VERY comfortable bed. The only little niggle was there were no tea or coffee making facilities in our room.
Very helpful showing us bus routes & poi on the map.

Great hotel in a beautiful little town

While we were impressed by pretty much everything at this hotel, the most notable aspect was the incredible staff. From the initial greeting when we were personally shown to our room to the incredibly kind waitresses at breakfast, the people at this hotel truly make it world class. All the details of the grounds were well tended too and the location near the center of town provided access to several wonderful restaurants in this quiet little place. If visiting Grödig, I highly recommend this hotel as we will certainly be going back.

nice hotel

we drove from Munich and got there at noon.. could not check in. so we took bus into Salzburg, spent time but because they shut down check in at 8 pm, and unsure of buses headed back about 5 pm. I think they cater more to people there for alpine events and hiking. we were only spending one night so our visit was abbreviated. but they desk person recommended a great local place to eat, so we had a very nice dinner. got up next day and headed for Vienna .

highly recommend this hotel, clean and friendly!

Was here for total of five nights, great and friendly service, great information about how to get around Salzburg, extremely clean, wonderful and complete breakfast buffet. Very easy to get to down town Salzburg with bus 25, which passes by important sights like Schloss Hellbrunn, the cable car on the highest mountain the Undersberg, and the zoo. Simple but decent restaurants in Grödig, which I found convenient after walking in the old city!

Would definitely return. A great value. Good breakfast included. Close enough to Salzburg and free parking and internet included. Clean rooms and comfortable bed. Would say it was by far the best value of anyplace we stayed during our two week European trip.

Favorite hotel of our two week trip

This hotel was our second choice and ended up being our favorite. The hotel itself was charming, bedding was luxurious, and the young woman at the desk in the evening when we checked in was very helpful and kind. Breakfast was quite good, with many homemade items, attentive servers, and the room was beautiful.

Lovely stay at Hotel Sallerhof

We arrived at Hotel Sallerhof to snow, quite magical ! The hotel is located in Grodig which is about a 20 minute bus journey into Salzburg an ideal location if you want somewhere quiet and away from the busy city in a beautiful area. The accommodation was excellent and very clean, the hotel staff who speak English are very helpful and provided leaflets informing us of various tours in the area, bus service etc. We could not fault the breakfast which was very varied, usually cereals, cold meats and cheeses, bread rolls, fruit, toast, cake and not the same every day...superb ! The hotel can arrange tours which collect you from the hotel...very useful when you are unsure of the area, they booked the sound of music tour for us. We were provided with a list of local restaurants (11 in total), however due to time of year we were visiting only 2 were open, we tried Gasthof Racklwirt and had a lovely meal and wished we had more time to go back and try something else on the menu. It was a pity there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms although you could get a hot drink in reception and a vending machine with cold soft drinks and beers plus snacks was available. Prior to our arrival the hotel e-mailed us and answered any questions promptly. Overall we had a lovely stay and would love to go back at another time of year to see the area and enjoy its beauty. We stayed in the Mozart suite with beautiful views for 5 days.

Overpriced and did not enjoy the room

We were not impressed with this hotel. It was the most expensive place we booked on a 10 night road trip and turned out to be the worst room we stayed in. Seems overpriced. The shower also would go from very cold to very hot and was very uncomfortable. The check out time was very early (10:30am??) what the heck? The best part was the breakfast, this was fantastic with very good service as well.

Beautiful hotel surrounded by mountains

From the moment we arrived we fell in love with the hotel and the location it was in. The rooms were lovely with beautifiul views of the mountains. The rooms were cleaned and beds made every day. The staff were extremely friendly and were extremely helpful when we needed to obtain a wheelchair for one of our party who had had a fall on the first day. They phoned round to find out where we could get a wheelchair and then provided us with the details. We loved the breakfasts and the selection and variety was wonderful. I can't speak highly enough of the hotel and staff and we will certainly be returning. If you are going to the Salzburg area I would highly recommend the Hotel Sallerhof

Nice hotel close to Salzburg and Berchtesgaden

Our family booked two rooms for June 20-21 as a central spot for visiting Salzburg and Berchtesgaden. It was convenient to both towns. Parking was onsite, and we were able to walk to dinner in the little town of Groedig. It is a sleepy and peaceful little town. The hotel has bicycles for use, and we enjoyed a beautiful bike ride through the countryside on level, clearly-marked, safe bicycle trails. It was lovely. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious, with everything fresh and locally grown. The hotel was very clean and quiet, and the staff was very kind.

Cosy, Friendly Hotel

We had a great time on our recent trip to Austria.

Hotel Sallerhof is particularly clean and tidy - possibly the cleanest I've stayed in for this level of accommodation. A couple of small things to mention are that reception staff were not on duty until the time specified in the hotel manual on a couple of days we were there which meant there were some requests we wanted to make that we had no contact for. I would second the comment re no tea/coffee making facilities in the room though I imagine this helps to keep the rooms clean a great deal. We were staying in Room 32 and it sometimes had a sewage sort of smell - we were going to mention this to reception but forgot so worth checking into.

Overall would definitely recommend though.

Perfect Location for an Austrian Adventure

We had a wonderful three night stay at Sallerhof and it could not have been better in terms of major items.

From the beautiful room with a view, clean and ultra-comfortable rooms, convenient and free private car park every need we had was fulfilled. Although we did not use the laundry service or the rental of bicycles and other equipment, it would be family friendly for sure.

The staff did everything they could to help make our stay a pleasure from the moment we walked into the door and the free wifi in the room made it easy to keep in touch with our friends during our stay...amidst a month long ramble through Europe.

They are close to the Eagles Nest, Hallstatt, Monsee and other areas around Salzburg and offer a wealth of tours they can book for you.....in the heart of the Sound of Music....smile
