I was staying 3 nights and unfortunately there was no hot water during my stay. The first 2 days there was just enough lukewarm water that I managed to shower, but unfortunately that wasn't the case the last day.
Also there was some noice from ongoing renovations of the building

The hotel’s location is convenient, and the rooms themselves were clean and spacious. Unfortunately, the overall experience was negatively impacted by the reception staff, who clearly need retraining. This is a hospitality environment, yet there was no greeting, no welcome—just a cold, dismissive attitude that came across as “What do you want?”
One front desk employee even questioned whether I really needed both rooms I had reserved for my party of four, which felt inappropriate and unprofessional. Her demeanor toward us was openly hostile. I can only speculate as to whether this treatment was influenced by the fact that we are American, but regardless, it was unacceptable.
Additionally, one of the elevators was out of service, and the hotel generally felt somewhat neglected and in disrepair. Breakfast was acceptable for the price but lacked variety.
This is unfortunate, as the hotel clearly has potential. With proper management and a focus on customer service—especially at the front desk—the experience could be significantly improved.

Lovely rooms. Good location for my activities. BUT Wifi completely unacceptable - weak or non-existent. Hotel claims to let you decide when to have the room made up, but ignores your these choices - even when you book online - and come after day 3. Staff friendly but slow - even trivial transactions take 5-10 minutes. Next time I will try other hotels and use the impressive local transit (free from your hotel if you stay 3 days or more, but not offered by this hotel - you have to know to ask).

It was pretty good. They gave me a bus pass for my entire stay and helped me with navigating around the city. This was not given to me at check in, so you might have to ask. It’s not too far from the old town and the city is very walkable. If you like walking, this hotel is good. Breakfast was also okay. The room was spacious.

Loved our room with the separate living space with a couch and chair. Beautiful view from the 4th floor. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Nice to have the shutters to close at night. Paid $18EU/person to have breakfast included which consisted of some hot food(eggs, sausage and bacon) as well as cold meats, cheeses, granola. Walk to downtown was approximately 25 minutes but bus service nearby. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

All good except for air conditioning

We enjoyed just about everything here… except for the air conditioning. We could not get it below 23° no matter how we tried. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean and the hotel itself is a solid 15-20 min walk from the main attractions in Salzburg. There are no refrigerators in the room . The breakfast is expensive, so we did not partake but dinner was quite delicious and worth the price. Parking is also not cheap and more expensive if you park in the garage (which is silly because sometimes the outdoor parking lot is full). The gym contains some cardio machines, free weights and one cable machine. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but the AC was an issue in the incredibly hot summer.

We really enjoyed our stay here, it has easy access to public transportation to the city center. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of options for food and drinks, it provided a good start to the day. Beautiful grounds as well. Staff was great too! Would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay here. The property is lovely and the room is very comfortable. The staff are also phenomenal. We dropped a necklace down the drain in the sink and Victoria helped us fish it out - she was incredible kind, patient and innovative with her problem solving. The hotel is lucky to have her on staff there!

Horrible staff and customer service. Snow storm prevented travel to hotel area. Snow storm was on news. Attempted to call the hotel without any answer, emailed them without a response. Finally received a response telling me they couldn't help me because i booked through a third party. Was charged full price to include five breakfasts we were not there to have. Refused to be helpful in any way. The storm made local news today showing how it shut down all trains to the area. I will never book with this chain again. So unprofessionalism. Stay away if you want good customer service

Horrible customer service. Tried calling the property numerous times when all the trains were canceled due to a snow storm. They did not answer the phone and then charged me the full rate stating i did not cancel in time. I will be sure to never book through this chain again.

We loved the hotel, lovely room. Our only feedback to stop it being a 5 was that the shower could of been better - quite a minor thing but when walking round in cold we both enjoy hot shower when back. Hotel spotlessly clean too, we really enjoyed our time in the hotel and Salzburg.

Nice, but not great

Decent place, and close enough to central Salzburg that we could walk everywhere. There's also a parking lot right in front of the hotel, which is super convenient if you're driving. Shower is very small so expect to make a mess The guy who checked us in was not very friendly, but the woman who helped us check out was fantastic.

A bit away from sightseeing, but public transport is available a couple of blocks away or you can just enjoy an easy walk. We were allowed to check in early, also thanks to an online form sent to us in advance. Only thing, in the form that we had to agree with online there was breakfast included, but found out we had to pay extra. No regrets, though, because it was a good menu. We really enjoyed out stay there.

Not Recommended !

The hotel receptionist gave us a different room (lower grade than the one we booked) and she refused our request to have a room in a higher level saying that the hotel was fully booked while it wasn’t as we checked online! The room was not clean I had to clean by my self , they just sent a welcome cake to apologize after letting us wait more than 40 minutes after check in time !!!

We were sent to a room which was flooded by the shower water. There was a fan on in attempt to dry out the carpet. The smell was pungent. When we called, we were sent 2 guys who said they were going to vacuum the carpet and we had to stay there because they didn’t have any room available (our card had a number which was then crossed to this new one). I asked about another room as the smell was not going to go away. As they could not vacuum the carpet, all of a sudden they found another room available. Not nice at all.

The staff really struggles with English. They didn’t explain anything. We couldn’t phone reception as there was no guide to show how. Had to walk down to ask them how to reach out to them. Could put slippers in the room. After a long day of site seeing in boots your feet are tired and slippers is a nice change.

Excellent hotel, conveniently located 15 minutes’ walk from the old city, and with a superb breakfast. My only complaint is that nobody informed me during checkin that I will have to pay for parking. Only while checking out I was told that they charge 15 Euros per day.

Incredible Stay!

So pleased with the overall experience we had staying here. The property was very well maintained, the staff was helpful when we had questions, and the breakfast in the morning was WELL WORTH the 18 Euro. We chose to eat dinner at the hotel restaurant one night and it too was perfect; the food was unbelievably delicious (HIGHLY recommend the walnut ravioli) and the service was impeccable. The room was average, like any hotel room. But the overall experience made it unforgettable.

The rooms in this hotel were surprisingly generic given its historical exterior. But certainly clean and functional. Could benefit from a hot water kettle in room for tea/coffee. The breakfast is very good but be aware it can get noisy because the hotel caters to your groups. The fitness center is poor - I couldn’t figure out why the elliptical machines had no power on. Needs to be improved if hotel advertises it as a feature. The hotel is not very close to the historical city center - it’s a 20 min walk. While it’s not an issue in good weather, it means you’re taking the bus in the winter. We were here during the holidays and it was rainy and very cold. The plus is there is a small restaurant in the hotel if you want to stay in for dinner and don’t feel like dealing with going out in bad weather.

The hotel was nicely kept, convenient to the castle, and the staff were friendly. Only downside was that the person who checked us in told us that breakfast was included. Upon check out we were told that there was a 18 Euro charge for breakfast, addiing108 Euro to our bill.

The bar staff was good, not as attentive as we would have liked but it made for a relaxing evening and not in such a rush.

The location was great. We walked to all of the sights in the old town within 15 minutes. There is a direct bus to the hotel from the main station which was great. Line #3 at station C.

We would absolutely stay here again.

15 min walk from everything, great hotel great room only drawback was the heat. The aircon pumped out warm air on every setting the room was too warm even with air con off and windows open. Not a drawback for most people but was uncomfortable for a couple of Scots. Overall this was a top hotel.

Bad choice

No air conditioning at night and didn’t inform. It was the SOLE reason for picking the hotel. Only ice cold water came out of the shower. Bad condition. Wasn’t informed they had portable AC to put in rooms. Room wasn’t ready for check in. Charged for parking. Never stay here again. Restaurant overpriced.

If you’re wanting a room with air conditioning, don’t stay here. It was HOT in all of the 3 rooms we had the 3 nights we were there. The guests and some of the staff think they’re a little “better” than you. They said that they can’t run their main AC too low because the system is “too old” DO NOT STAY HERE!

Nice hotel but spoilt by the 'German Double' bed, which was supposed to be a Queen, but was in fact two singles pushed together with separate bedding, meaning you fall down the middle when you sleep, not comfy at all! Apparently this is normal though (according to the lady at reception...)

South of the city on a main road but set back....the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Reception staff made checking in a brief experience. Buses 3 / 8 / 170 all make travelling into town easy...buy 24/36/48 hr tickets...suprising how far you travel on the excellent service. Didn't eat in the hotel but\" Salieri\" looked good.
We have stayed in a few hotels in Salzburg over the years....we will go back and stay for this year's Xmas Markets...cant be bad!!

Overall, the hotel was very good. Friendly staff, clean well appointed rooms, and a lovely exterior. However, we were very surprised that the buffet breakfast cost 18 Euros per person. We were not told ahead of time there was a charge and only found out when we checked out. Kind of sneaky.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Arcotel Castellani. The staff were professional and friendly. The room was a good size, clean and pleasant. Although cleaned daily, optional change of towels and linen helps save bees by reducing environmental impact.The food was excellent. Excellent choice at breakfast, very attentive staff, offering soy lattes or cappuccinos a desired. We also ate in the Restaurant Salieri and although a limited menu, the food was very good indeed, presented beautifully. We also ordered room service one evening and the food again was exceptionally good and reasonably priced. The club sandwich was excellent, as were the veggie and beef burgers. It was a pleasure staying in such a good hotel, where quality obviously matters and the staff appear to enjoy their jobs.

It was a great stay and enjoyed it immensely.

The only thing i could fault would be that my daughter and I got quite ill from food poisoning unfortunately after eating Street food at the Xmas markets and after midnight tried several times to call the reception for an doctor however no one answered. Fortunately I was able to ring out myself for an ambulance as the number was conveniently located on the phone list.

However - the bar is cold and unwelcoming. Simply nasty and the barman was atrocious! He was so rude, it was a struggle to actually get served. Then when we complained - he kept blaming it on someone else and would not leave us alone to enjoy our drinks.
The breakfast is a joke, the coffee was stale and mass produced - for €18 per person I would have expected a better quality.
It is a shame - the location is good and the hotel could be a great place to stay.

Nice hotel a brisk walk out of the main city.

Good bus routes & nice breakfast buffet. Definitely would go back.
