What a wonderful traditional Austrian GASTHAUS tastefully redecorated with a beautiful pool that’s good for relaxing, but not really lap swimming. The food is excellent. The waiter from Guinea was wonderful and helped me feel right at home. the room was beautiful the bed very comfortable. It definitely seems like a wedding destination hotel, though it looks like already there is some damage to the new decorations: a chipped bathtub torn carpeting on the stairs too bad the area is beautiful and the place is lovely

Our stay at the beautiful 16th century Der Schlosswirt zu Anif was lovely. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, with a special mention to Kahlil (apologies for incorrect spelling of your name) who was very helpful on our arrival and during our stay.
Being such an old historic building, with solid old oak floors all over, it creeks and cracks when you walk across your room which in the day is charming but at night you will wake your sleeping partner. That aside, the place is true to its age and history and as it should be. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable along with the big fluffy pillows.
We used the sauna which was lovely and then braved the outdoor pool which was chilly initially but once in and swimming the chill wore off.
We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was delicious and exquisitely presented. With local wine suggestions from Kahlil that complemented our meal. Equally breakfast in the morning was good with plenty of options for continental or a menu for cooked dishes as well.
We would recommend for a nostalgic experience, be aware that there are many taxidermy animals around the building, which didn’t bother us.

Breakfast was superb, the sauna was rejuvenating, and the staff was incredibly accommodating. 5 minute walk to bus stop that connected us to everything we wanted (bus #25 to Salzburg city center, #840 to Lake Königssee). We truly loved our stay here and highly recommend this property to all visiting this beautiful area!

It is amazing. you feel like you were in a xvi or xvii century house just a few steps from am Austrian Castel, not huge though in the middle of a small lake. It is our 3ed stay at this hotel. With a bus stop a few steps away, to get Salzburg downtown in about 25-30 minutes.

Beautiful, small hotel. Transportation required to get into Salzburg. It is located on a busy street, we thought it would be a bit quieter. There was a young girl who worked at breakfast and spoke very good English, she was awesome! The facility is older but is updated and kept very nicely.

This is a lovely guest house that combines local (Salzburg/Anif) traditions with modern amenities. The staff is kind, courteous and helpful. Breakfast is delicious, with a good variety of fresh foods, and dinner (which you should reserve) is excellent.

Traditional buildings and a nice breakfast service. Dog friendly. Very convenient if you are driving and want a base for the area without entering the city. Good transport into Salzburg. Only downside was bei g on the top floor with no lift i had to carry up our large cases, fine for me but worth making sure you have a room in the main building or ground floor if you will struggle.

This is a lovely old Inn located on the outskirts of Salzburg with beautiful grounds. The back door opens to a big patio area with gardens and old trees and access to a greenbelt walking path along a creek. Even though it is located on a busy street, the Inn is quiet. The restaurant is elegant, a bit pricey and seems to be a local favorite too - serving dishes that reflect local sources. We enjoyed our 3 day stay here and would recommend to anyone not wanting to stay in busy downtown Salzburg

The property is pretty. The restaurant is good. Breakfast was ok. We filtered on our search for elevator and a/c. There are 2 separate buildings. The building we were put in had neither. A fan was provide but it was still uncomfortably hot. Slept with the windows open. Parking was difficult. Very limited.

The property is located just outside of Salzburg in a village called Anif. Schlosswirt is a Castle property directly adjacent to the hotel. The level of service and quality of food was outstanding. The staff were very helpful in providing directions for areas of interest and the breakfasts were second to none. I cannot say enough good things about this Hotel.

A traditional Austrian hotel 2 km outside of Salzburg in a lovely quiet village. Great bus links to the city. Very clean and quiet hotel. Breakfasts are fantastic and the restaurant at night is amazing. The food is very high standard and good prices. The garden is lovely to sit in at night. Don’t bother trying to get any pics of the palace next door as you can’t. Staff are really friendly and can speak English if like me you have NO German. Would love to go back.

I stayed one night and wished I could've stayed longer. It is a lovely inn - the bed was so comfortable, food delicious, the staff warm and helpful. It is very easy and a quick 20 minutes to get to via bus from Salzburg. They've done an admirable job of blending a historic inn with modern conveniences. Highly recommend staying here.

Don’t hesitate to book this hotel. It was an idyllic stay in every sense. It’s tasteful, comfortable, and has beautiful mountain views . We had an amazing stay! The front desk staff was pleasant and gave us ideas of where to eat and what to do. The hotel is perfectly situated near Salzburg but feels more pastoral right near the mountains. They have a fantastic breakfast with everything and anything you could possibly want. There are nature paths right on the property allowing you to wander in nature as desired! The rooms are well appointed and the furnishings are reminiscent of staying in a little chateau. Highly recommend!

We only stayed 1 night but enjoyed the friendly, personal touch that this lovely traditional hotel had to offer. Evening meal was great too, nicely presented and served to us on the outside terrace at the rear of the hotel. Beautiful setting.
Breakfast was a bit slow but I would put that down to new service methods as they were just re-opening after the CV-19 lockdown and it was clear that care was being taken to abide by new rules. But some pre-prepped breakfast plates and bread baskets would have helped. Still very enjoyable though. Would definitely book here again.

Would return again and again. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help my adult daughter to find and protect a credit card left in a jeans pocket she turned in to be laundered. This hotel is in a 500 year old building rich in history. It is well maintained with the most updated toilet/shower facilities in the rooms. They have an excellent kitchen/restaurant and a marvelous European buffet breakfast spread. If you are someone who has to have the most modern of everything in your hotel don’t waste your time and then be disappointed. But if you want to experience excellent accommodations and service with a great night of sleep in a hotel that exudes European history, then you will be delighted with this hotel.

Had a short stay here on our trip to Salzburg and left wanting to stay back longer. Beautiful and charming rooms with lot of natural air flowing through. Staff were extremely friendly and helped us with all additional service requests. Morning buffet breakfast was one of the best we have had. Made to order menu along with many other more than standard quality items on the buffet. Overall a pleasant memorable stay and would definitely come back if we are in this region.

On the plus, this is a lovely old hotel, nicely furnished with antiques; they offer a great breakfast; and it's in a beautiful area of Austria. On the negative, our reservation, that included a lake view, was not honored. After a bit of arm twisting, the hotel offered us compensation that included free dinner. If your room is in the annex, be prepared for the sound of traffic all night because a very busy road separates the main hotel from the building in which we were housed.

Great local inn just south of Salzburg
This hotel is a beautiful old inn just south of Salzburg. The rooms are clean and the staff is extremely friendly. The breakfast buffet is excellent dinner menu very good for local cuisine. If you don't have a car it is an easy 20 minute bus ride from the Salzburg main station and into town, buses leave every 15 to 20 minutes.

500 years old hotel that you must try.
It was a 500 years old house with vintage setting... including a pull open vintage lift. It is an experience to stay in such a old building. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Located about 3 km from tourist centre, a direct bus for 2 Euro per person. Very convenient located. Wonderful breakfast and the restaurant serves very nice local food through out the day. It was a fantastic experience beside the squeaky flooring which was due to old age. Wonder hotel to visit.

Absolutely charming country stay
The hotel, grounds, staff and room itself were absolutely perfect! The room was HUGE and even included a separate sitting room! The drive to Old Town Salzburg was only 15 min (we took a cab because we had had enough of public transportation in Munich!) and they had plenty of room for our rental car to be parked. Breakfast was the typical faire but they will make you eggs any way you like which was nice. The hotel is adorably old world with staff even wearing Bavarian attire! There was a garden in back that looked lovely but we didn't get a chance to go there.
The only downside was that our room was DIRECTLY on the road! You would not think that would be a problem in a little town like this but it was AWFUL! It was the middle of July so we had to sleep with the windows open (no A/C) and the cars just kept speeding by all night long! We did not sleep well at all. If you are going to stay here, and I recommend you do, just make sure to NOT get a room that faces the road. You will be up all night!

Charming historic hotel minutes away from Salzburg
We wanted to see Salzburg and booked this hotel as it was the best we could do with our budget. Its a 10 minute drive to the city situated on a rather busy road to the discount shopping area. Accommodation was comfortable but the Wifi did not work so the one night that we spent there was probably enough for us. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

We spent two nights here and were very happy with our stay overall. European hotels are different from US hotels, and keeping that in mind, this is a great hotel; as far away from your big chain hotel, with personable, excellent service and clean boutique style rooms, old world charm and fully modern!

Nice Hotel located on outskirts of Salzburg. Good access to airport and park and ride to city centre. If you did not want to eat in the hotel every day there are plenty of options in the area most in walking distance. The hotel staff were very good and helpful. We would certainly returned.

A revisit after 40 years
In 1974 we spent a few nights at Hotel Schlosswirt in Anif with friends and found it so special that this year, 40 years later, we returned with family and it lived up to expectations. This is a very old hotel with lots of character, a great chef, and proximity to Salzburg. The only sad thing is that the schloss is no longer easily visible or accessible from the hotel due to a new stingy owner of the schloss.

The history of this place is just as appealing as the place itself. Our room was fine- antiques and definitely rocked the farm house old feel while the bathroom was modern (really liked the separate toilet/vanity - shower/ vanity areas in room 7). We slept well although the mattress caved a bit in the middle and no AC. Not a bad drive into Salzburg. Pleasant two nights here!
