Years ago when we lived in Ettlingen I admired the historic hotel Watthalden property and we had a very happy stay there this summer. The hotel is nicely decorated, the suites are spacious with kitchenette facilities, we found the breakfast buffet to be excellent, and the surrounding area by the Alb River is beautiful and serene. We were just a short walk to town with its wonderful dining, parks and shopping. Short walk to the train for Karlsruhe and beyond. Lovely stay!

Bra hotell som ligger i gångbarhets avstånd till trevliga Ettlingen. Bra service, men tyvärr var sängarna väldigt låga och borde bytas ut. Bra parkeringsmöjligheter.

Decent, but not 4 stars.

We stayed at this hotel for one night during a road trip. The location right off the freeway suited us, and we were happy to have the free parking. Two nice restaurants on the property, but the hotel itself is not 4 stars - more like 3. The rooms are a bit reminiscent of a dorm type of setting, and the breakfast was not on par with a 4 star property. Overall reasonable for the price.

Spacious room. Great location. Good breakfast. Maybe a little more expensive than the rest of Ettlingen but at least all 4 of us could sleep in a single room unlike other locations which only had 2 person rooms which was unthinkable w small children. friendly staff and overall clean nice space

Not sure I'd stay again

The restaurant next door was having a live music night which we were not made aware of until after we had checked in. It was incredibly noisy and we could not get to sleep until about midnight. After a very long drive and another long drive the next day this was not ideal. I would not stay here again if there was to be live music next door.

Eat in a brewery whilst drinking in a restaurant

4 elderly bikers en route to U.K. following a trip to Austria., looked for shelter at this hotel and were met with a smile and useful information from the receptionist. We enjoyed our comfortable stay and ventured into the nearby town, with good advice where to eat, guiding our needs every step. The hotel staff went the extra mile to help, which was good and makes your stay so much more enjoyable. We were directed to a brewery/ restaurant, which was novel in itself and well patronised.

Good value hotel.

This was a fairly basic but comfortable hotel. Hotel was clean and had everything needed for an overnight stay. Ettingen was lovely and the hotel was a short walk from the centre.
Staff were OK but not particularly friendly. For the money it was a good hotel to stay in.

Nice stop over

Great stop over on a american style road trip through europe. Easy access to the highway, nice neighboorhood. Arrived late and left early so we didn't get to sample the adjacent resturant but the breakfast was a great start to the morning.

Great hotel in wonderful little town.

The rooms are small but sufficient. Beds are comfortable but very low to the ground. The food at the hotel (breakfast) and the restaurants/beirhaus next door (Watt's) are incredible. Great value and delicious food/drinks. Highly recommend.

On arrival the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. This continued throughout my stay. The hotel is a modern build with a central atrium. It was well worth the stopover and I am glad I chose this hotel rather than one in Baden-Baden.

Absolutely Recommend this Hotel

Our family (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed at Watthalden for 10 days and could not have asked for more. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic, lots of local products (fresh baked goods, jams, and honey) large selection of fruit, smoothies, cold cuts, eggs any style, and coffee drinks and tea a la carte without extra charge.
I have yet to find a more accomodating and friendly staff in any hotel. Everyone was very friendly and seemed to actually like their job. Great tips on what to do.
For dinner, we used Watts bistro next door. Their food is absolutely the antithesis to stereotypical German food - refined, original, and each dish with a distinct flavor. The wine and beer selection is also real good and found it convenient not to have to drive.
Locationwise, close to old downtown Ettlingen, and within 15 min drive to downtown Karlsruhe. Perfect place to stay and explore the Blackforest and surrounding cities. We stayed on our previous trips there already, and will be back agin for our next stay.

Echt een top hotel in een erg leuk dorpje met naastgelegen een leuk restaurant. Service is super. Wij zijn met 2 kindjes en daar hebben ze altijd iets voor. We zijn hier al eerder geweest en door de goede ervaring weer terug gekomen.

Net hotel voor een goede prijs. Vriendelijk personeel en prima ontbijt. Kamer was ruim, wel erg muf en de shutters waren aan een schoonmaakbeurt toe. Ruime schone badkamer. Alleen de douche zorgde voor een drijfnatte badkamer (dit hebben we ook gemeld). Locatie was goed, je loopt met 5 a 10 minuten zo het centrum in.

Tip qua restaurant in de buurt: Tomahawk. Beoordeel het restaurant niet op haar uiterlijk en de locatie. Het eten en het personeel is super!

Gutes Hotel mit Parkplatz und Tiefgarage nähe Stadt. Das Bett war für mich etwas weich, dafür aber das Zimmer sehr ruhig. Das Frühstück war ok, aber leider ist der Frühstücksbereich nicht besonders attraktiv.
