Sits on such a beautiful littel square. Want to send a special thank you to the young gentlemen on the reception. Since there is no elevator at this facility, he lugged up most of our heavy luggage to our room for us. On the morning we left it was before the breakfast at 8AM but he kindly prepared a couple of take away coffees for us.

This hotel was truly wonderful, and while staff was not the most comfortable with English, they did the best job of ensuring that our stay was comfortable! The location was unbeatable and the breakfast was very good! The newly refurnished rooms were well equipped, comfortable, and spacious. Would stay again!

Our stay at Hotel Am Markt was amazing. The hotel is located in the heart of Bacharach and is a quick walk to many restaurants and sights, as well as the Rhine River. The daily breakfast buffet had a wide range of options. Our room was very clean and spacious.

Highly recommended historic hotel

This nice hotel in a historic building in very quaint and historic Bacharach was a joy to stay at. The location is in the beautiful town center a short walk away from the Rhine, a famous ruin, a castle, and a number of great restaurants. The service was good and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended.

Perfect location in Bacharach

Couldn’t ask for a better location in Bacharach! The hotel is charming and well maintained. Our room was lovely, especially loved the bathtub with the chandelier! The only downside of the room was the toilet was separated from the shower and sink, which would be fine except it was such a small space the door barely cleared the toilet seat 😬 and with the door closed it was pretty claustrophobic.
The gentleman at the front desk was very soft spoken, so sometimes hard to understand what he was saying.

Am Markt was the nicest hotel on our journey of 8 hotels. It was very modern and posh. If we had been there longer, we would have definitely enjoyed the whirlpool in the room. The free breakfast was an added bonus. Our host was kind and accommodating (we were late for check in). The hotel is very convenient to the train station and the \"heart\" of Bacharach, which was small and quaint.

Good location in the valley

Nice little spot in the valley in one of the more pedestrian friendly, historic villages. Room was spacious and clean (for European standards).

Only real downfall was check in representative did not know (nor was helpful) in finding parking. Initial area directed to was marked no parking, upon return just said he didn’t know the signs were there and left to find paid parking about a 10 minute walk from hotel. Understanding the hotels itself didn’t have parking, you would assume staff when directing you to parking would want to help (when it’s really a village only accessible by car or odd train)

Charming Bacharach

Amazing service experience. They really went the extra mile for us. We arrive late because we were driving there. Not a problem! The room was big, clean, andc comfortable. They offer breakfast. Location is great right in the middle of the small town! Parking is accesible and close to the property. Beds are not as big and comfortable (two twin beds together with separe, twin blankets) as we are use to but nothing really different from others in Germany. Bacharach is a beautiful, cozy, and charming town near the Rhine. The people is amazing! We loved everything about it.

Very clean and modernized. The parking garages are very tight and parking is extremely limited near the hotel. No elevator, even though the Expedia listing said there was. You have to pay an extra 10€ per day to use air conditioning. The shower doors leaked. There was a strange meaty-seweagey smell from the shower drain. Check out time is not convenient at all (10 am). They didn't give us the room we booked. We requested to large two twin bed room, Comfort Plus, but our room only had one \"double\" bed (equivalent to a US queen). Upon checkout, they wanted to charge our card directly for the room, even though we prepaid through Expedia. It seems like they don't have much experience dealing with services like Expedia. I recommend just doing a day trip to Bacharach anyway, it's not worth staying overnight.

Hotel has a great location with convenient and affordable parking, good breakfast but the coffee kept running out. It was very quiet despite the stairwell. We don't recommend due ti lack of air conditioning as was promised and because the windows of our room opened up the the GROUND LEVEL back staircase. Anyone coming down could see into our room we HAD to keep the windows open bebause it was 30C/85F and we needed fresh air.

The hotel is in an ancient building in the center of this medieval town. However, the rooms are modern and comfortable. There's no lift, but the helpful staff toted our bags to our second floor balcony room. The restaurant is excellent; we couldn't resist the chanterelle menu and broke our no-repeats rule to eat dinner there twice.

A cozy place in a cozy town

This is a quaint hotel in a beautiful Rhine village, which was a great place to sleep off jet lag and enjoy very local activities. The owner really warmed up to us and we felt very well cared for. Dinner was gourmet and breakfast was very generous. We are glad Hotels.com has this listing.

Wonderful hotel

Our friends and us had planned on spending one night in Bacharach but we were so pleased with the hotel we all decided to make it our home base and spent three nights. The hotel has been updated but kept its old character and charm. It is very clean and they provide a good breakfast. We highly recommend its restaurant, the food was excellent with the presentation of high end restaurants. We thank Hans and his staff for their attention and eagerness to help. Hope he keeps his promise to visit us in California

Great hotel. We were lucky to get the room with a balcony. It gets afternoon sun and is a fun spot for drinking local wine and people watching. The hotel is in the middle of old town. Several restaurants near by. Close to trail to the castle, train station and river tour pick up point.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Am Markt Hotel in Bacharach. The room was clean and comfortable and our hosts were personable and friendly with great English skills. The location is great, right in the middle of town. We had great meals there too. Our first night we went out somewhere else and on the second night ate at the Am Markt and quickly discovered we didn't have to leave \"home\" for one of the best restaurants in town. We received particularly great service from Jana in the restaurant who always remembered our favourite Riesling. She took great care of us each time. Breakfast each morning was a great buffet selection of meats, cheeses and fruits as well as fresh baking and perfect scrambled eggs. We would recommend both the hotel and restaurant without hesitation.

Nice hotel for price point. Rooms are average. Paper thin walls. No ac or heat working. Bathroom is tiny with shower spilling onto floor. Pillows are down and very flat. It worked. Area is beyond charming. Location was excellent. Hotel was average for old school Europe. Nice breakfast spread. Oh, no elevator. Beware w large suitcases.

We had a room with a terrace which improved the score to a 4. The service was good, however the front desk was only open until 7pm. Although the air conditioning is listed, it is an extra 10 euros to have it turned on. When we realized we wanted air conditioning, it was after 7pm so we had to do without. The area and view from the terrace was our favorite part of our European trip.

We arrived by bicycle and they let us park it in a locked garage. They let us check in early which is great when you're traveling via bike. The couple working there were very nice. The breakfast was decent. Basic continental. Room was spacious and clean. Towels were nice thickness. Decor was boutique style and modern. Location was in center of town. Walkable to all sights. Overall stay was excellent. Restaurant had good food.

Exceptionally clean, well maintained. Inn keeper was not the jovial host that some people seemed to expect, but we found him very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with great selection. We ate dinner at the restaurant one evening and enjoyed very good service and excellently prepared food. We would definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends.

We stayed in room 7, a family room, having 2 bedrooms and a spacious living area with kitchenette. If staying multiple days, this room lends itself to cooking a familiar home cooked meal. Easy access to the train, charming downtown. Breakfast was good.

Going Back in Time!

We stayed in Bacharach at this hotel for three nights in early July. This town is in a great location on the Rhine. We took a cruise up the river one day and down the river the next, seeing many magnificent castles and stopping to explore towns on the river. Our \"home base\" was Bacharach, and the most charming and authentic town! You will feel like you are walking through a storybook as you navigate from the train station to the hotel. You are surrounded by history when you stay at Am Markt and yet you have all the modern conveniences you need (except maybe for air conditioning-although you can open the window and it is quiet at night). Make sure to either arrive by early evening or contact the hotel to let them know you will be arriving late. It is a family run hotel and the reception desk closes after a certain hour. If you need to contact the hotel, I would recommend calling them rather than e-mailing as I didn't receive a reply to an earlier e-mail but was able to communicate via phone. I would heartily recommend this hotel!

Nice hotel in centre of town.

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and we had a family room, which had 2 seperate bedrooms & a basic kitchen ( no working oven/stove) and a view over the Main Street. It was on the 3rd floor with no elevator. breakfast was very nice and we also ate dinner here which was also good.The wifi was a benefit & worked well. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here & would recommend it.

We booked two rooms. Both were clean and comfortable -- very traditional in style. It should be noted that, as with many of the older buildings in Europe, there was no elevator, and we had to haul our heavy luggage up three flights of stairs, but other than that, we had a lovely stay. It's a charming town.

We had a memorable stay at Am Mark they were so helpful because of work on tracks train stopped the town before we were then put on bus but we missed our stop we called they were so kind to send someone for us really above and beyond service. The hotel in center of town not far from train station. Rooms clean and up to date. we ate 2 nights at Restaurant staff really got to know us, breakfast was good. You will enjoy this Hotel

Stayed at hotel 4 nights in April and used as base for day trips on the Rhine. Bacharach is lovely town, hotel is centrally located and had been fully renovated - maintaining historical charm with modern conveniences. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Enjoyed our 2 evening dinners in the restaurant. Owners are helpful and suggested places for us to visit. Our room had stained glass windows, mini-fridge, modern bathroom, large flat screen television and was very elegant. l

I couldn't think of anything negative about our stay here. The town itself is fantastic with cobble-stoned streets and wonderful shops and eateries. The hotel was great with comfortable and spacious rooms and a friendly, helpful staff. Hans was extremely helpful, going so far as to help book our next hotel stay. The restaurant was pleasant and the food was great! They even have cafe tables outside for some great people watching as you sip a nice beverage. I would definitely stay here again.

Character without comfort

The rooms of the hotel have character, but are not comfortable. If you stay at a room close to the staircase, you will hear all the movements and voices on the steps (in the corridor), plus you will be woken up by the automatic lights in the corridor which illuminate your room through the inside window whenever someone passes by.

We loved our stay at Am Markt. The staff was professional and courteous, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was great. Bacharach is a beautiful town and the hotel was convenient to walk the cobblestone streets or walk up to the castle overlooking the Rhein. The only drawback was the parking, which is 4 Euro to park outside the wall. It's a short walk and you can stop in front of the hotel entrance to load and unload, so it's not too big an issue. We would stay here again and recommend it.

Cute hotel in the charming town of Bacharach

The cute little Am Markt Hotel is conveniently located near restaurants, shops, and had a pleasant 20-30 minute walk/loop around the town that includes an overlook by a castle like school. The hotel has its own restaurant. The room was decent size and clean. The bed for 2 was 2 singles pushed together so there was a space in the middle. The bed was a little hard but I had no problem sleeping. The room had a very nice bathroom with a large walk in shower...a plus after many tiny showers. In the morning there was a nice complimentary breakfast with cereal, breads, toaster waffles, meats, cheeses, yogurt, and a few other options. I would happily stay here again if we came back to Bacharach. We loved how easy it was to get around the town, as well as the ease of getting to surrounding towns via the local train/tram.
