It was easy access and easy to find the parking space.The room was clean and good enough for 3 of us.Though the 3rd bed could have been better.Walkable distance from all the areas.Would def stay here agai. If i visit Karlsruhe.

Good reasonably central location for Karlsruhe. Convenient underground parking. Trams run directly past hotel entrance and can be a bit noisy at night/ early morning as they pass, but this is to be expected in the location. Rooms and bathrooms clean and comfortable.

Our flight was delayed so we arrived 2 hour later. Midnight instead of 10pm. No one there to check us in, hotel locked and not answering the phone. Left us stranded in middle of night and had to pay extra for a hotel 30 mins away

Nothing \"Ruhe\" about this hotel

This is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. It is positioned at an extremely busy intersection, so even in a room on the 4th floor, the traffic and noise is considerable. The room resounds with the constant rumbling of the tram (Straßenbahn), which also screeches as it turns the corner. To make matters worse, there was construction in the building, which produced a symphony of drilling and pounding sounds beginning around 8am. Impossible even to have a phone conversation. I stayed here for 6 days and was quite actually exhausted from the lack of sleep.

I took note of the hotel manager yelling at the housecleaning staff about not working fast enough (the man didn't even stop his berating as I walked by).

Others have mentioned the breakfast, which is decent. The staff in the breakfast area were always friendly, and if anything needed to be replenished, they were happy to do so.

Checking in was a problem because the automat did not issue my bill. Since I had not noted the room number, I had to phone. The immediate service was good. I was issued a new room number and key but it took 3 contact attempts before my invoice was emailed 2 weeks later. Room pleasant, with kettle. Covid test kit in room.

Convenient location for Supreme Court. Rooms pleasant and reasonable size.
Brekfast was slightly problematic. I went up just before 8 and the juice dispenser was almost empty. I managed to scrape together the last portion of scrambled eggs. Although one could hear the staff talking in the back room, it was 20 minutes (I noted the time on my watch) before anyone came to replenish the container, so that the half dozen people who came after me had a limited choice.

Though it was as clear certain aspects had been redone (and redone well), it seemed like the job didn’t get completely finished. It was also complicated to find the parking spots and to access the rooms from the garage and outdoors. The entrance we were told to go in was not clearly marked. Otherwise it was a nice stay.

Great location and Breakfast!.
Property is going thru remodeling, a lot of noise and dust all over the place. Soecificalky at 6:30 am the noise from the street caused by the moving of is unbearable. Cant sleep and it lasts for 2 hours

Looks like the hotel is being renovated, and it very much needs renovating. I had booked a standard double room which had a decent size but everything was run down. Pillows felt like something one would get in the plane. Desk chair was very uncomfortable. Bed was ok.
I expected a fair value for the price but I did not get it.

I had a serious complaint to make on our first night of 3. The staff dealt with it very well and the rest of our stay was perfect.
They operate an unusual hotel system, whereby there are other businesses operating within the building. We found it tricky to find the reception.

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews ! Me and my daughter stayed here for 3 nights and it was wonderful . Great room, wonderful breakfast, and fantastic location, tram right in front of hotel, but you could also walk to city center in about 10 min. Girls on the reception desk weren’t overly friendly but everything else was perfect. Price was great, I would def stay here again

God location, good value.

Great value hotel and a good stopover on the way south. Comfortable rooms and pleasant staff. Good buffet breakfast, well worth it. Beware of the underground parking. There is a ramp system to put two cars in one space and someone had raised the platform. We could not leave the next morning for more than an hour as we had to wait for the Hausmeister to drive in and release us.

Convenient location for Supreme Court, opposite tram stop, but I had a quiet room facing the inner courtyard. Minibar would be useful, especially since the hotel's own bar is for smokers after 8 p.m. Also a safe would be helpful. Good breakfast.

We stayed a night and booked two rooms. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and modern. Breakfast was very nice too. Had a lovely nights sleep at the hotel. The cons for the hotel were the rooms access point, which was next door from the reception, so you have to step outside and there is no access from the lobby. There were no lights outside the elevator area, when you wait to go up to your rooms.
Overall location, staff, breakfast and cleanliness were great.

Great hotel close to the center of Karlsruhe

We stayed for one night and had a great time. The receptionist was very friendly, the internet was fast, and the breakfast buffet was huge and plentiful. Parking spaces in the garage were a little tight and it took us a while to maneuver the car into the space. Also, we booked under \"Hotel am Karlstor\" but the hotel was recently renamed to \"ZiHotel\", so be careful.

The rooms were recently renovated and very nice. The only two negative points were that there was no AC (and it was really hot) and that the room did not have a fridge. Both points were minor for us but someone might care.

I have been here twice.
What I like about it:
- very affordable
- clean
- good breakfast included
- convenient (directly at a tram stop)
- good and friendly service

Now the thing: if you have a light sleep make sure they give you a room to the side or back. If your room faces the street it might be hard to sleep.

Not a decent hotel to leave/ sleep in. The floor and the rooms are smelly. The hotel has about three names: Zi Hotel, Hotel Am Kalstor ..... Don't ever make a mistake of booking this hotel, you desire a pleasant trip.

The hotel was overall a great deal for the price that we paid. The room was comfortable and clean, my only complaint was that there was an open hole in the wall with exposed wire hanging out!! The breakfast buffet was huge and delicious - definitely my favorite part of the stay. They do have self serve laundry facilities but it is very confusing to find and not all of the front staff knows it exists. It is on the fifth floor and you need a key from the front desk to get in.

Good hotel with stingy wifi

Pros: friendly staff, awesome breakfast(super soft bread!), nice complimentary sparkling water, strong fan, nice fluffffffyyyyyyy pillow

Cons: only 1 person/device can use the wifi, shower room design is lame - the glass door only covers half the room, meaning water can leak out from the other half of the floor, location is hard to find(no clear directions on website in English)

If they allow the wifi to be unlimited, I will go back again. The rest are minor cons.

The hotel name is actually Zi Hotel!!

The room furniture was really old, especially the bed & desk. The desk had a broken part (junction between the 2 sides), and the bed almost fell apart. Also, the room does not have a phone!
Finally, and surprisingly, it turned out that the hotel name is \"Zi Hotel\" & not as posted \"Hotel am Karlstor\"

I've stayed at this hotel only for 2 nights, for business.
The annoying things:
- very difficult to find the entrance (you should know that it is not called Am Karlstor, but Hotel Lounge)
- someone had an alarm in a room close to mine, so every night at 01:00 there was this annoying sound - at first I thought it is a fire alarm
- only 2 very very small shower gels, no soap (I was lucky I had my own shampoo, shower gel etc)
Everything else was lovely:
- very clean room, spacious
- confy bed
- breakfast was very very good (large selection, fresh and tasty)
- exactly next to the tram stations, so good transportation
Overall, I would recommend this hotel, just make sure you know it's called Lounge and bring your own shower gel, shampoo etc

Breakfast is great, but the facility is quite old. Our rooms were at the end of the hall, and the room smells like heavy lemonade cleaner.

Still, breakfast was very very good, we were surprised. With very reasonable price, + free parking+brk+wifi, it is truly worth the money.

Hotel is branded as Zi Hotel on all signs...

...and if not for someone's review on this site, I would still be looking for something called the \"Hotel am Karlstor.\" It's called the Zi Hotel everywhere you look. The hotel occupies a couple of floors of a 5-story building, while the lobby (which is more of an extension of the smoky, un-air-conditioned lounge) is completely separate from the access to the rooms. You have to go outside to go back inside a few doorways down the building in order to reach the rooms. We were in 438 (facing the street), where the free WiFi evidently did not reach. Worked well in the lobby, so that's where I had to use it to load emails, maps, and make reservations for the next stop. Stains on the carpet always make me wonder, so I ignored them and wore my sandals while in the room. The room itself was well-appointed, including a fan (helpful when no A/C is available and plenty of electrical outlets. No minibar/fridge or safe, but plenty of storage space for luggage/bags. Windows must be well-insulated as we weren't bothered at all by the sounds from the tram stop right in front of the room. Breakfast was included in our rate. The b'fast buffet was in a room at the back of the same (4th) floor, and while it was spectacular in terms of selection and quality, it was absolutely outstanding in terms of service -- dish clearing, replenishing/refreshing of items, friendliness of staff, etc. Neighborhood is loaded with amenities like grocery/drug stores, bakeries, bars, restaurants, banks, and shops.

I had read that this hotel was not easy to find-that's definitely not true. 10-12 mins walk from Karlsruhe Hbf main station. As long as you realise you have to use the reception marked Zi Hotel. The rooms are through a different door but its about 5 steps away. Breakfast is fantastic the usual European fare but plenty of choices.

The hotel goes by a different name

A difficult place to find as they go by a different name and the hotel is only in the 4th floor of a building.
The reception desk is located in a very \"smoky\" bar at the street level.
The room had a dirty carpet, not lights in the bathroom and no telephone to contact the reception desk.
I can say that this is a strange setting hotel..
Nevertheless, the breakfast buffet was excellent!

Die Unterkunft hat eine gute Lage, aber es ist laut. Die Zimmer zum Innenhof sind zwar leise, aber kein schöner Ausblick (verrostete Geräte und Lüftungen).
Personal war sehr freundlich, aber auch sehr langsam (Grund ist ggf. die Technik, who know's...). Jedenfalls: wir haben beim CHeck-in ca. 20min gewartet und auschecken war ähnlich. Frühstuck ist nichts besonderes, aber für den Preis okay. Hygiene könnte noch etwas verbessert werden.

Toll gelegen - Idealer Ausgangspunkt

Zentrale Lage, bequemes Bett, saubere Zimmer, gutes Frühstück und nettes Personal. Die fehlende Klimaanlage wurde durch einen Ventilator ausgeglichen. Hat gepasst und man kann die Fenster öffnen. Alles in allem wirklich gut.

Ich fandest zuschade für das geld im bad war schimmel, der boden war dreckigi, das bett war aus gefanzt, es war ne katasteopfe. Dann gab es ein anderes zimmer da das selbe das zimmer war dreckig aber noch so schlimm was schlimm war da waren überall spinnen Also würde ich nicht empfehlen essen war keine große auswahl aber die innenstadt war sehr nah das war okay.

Das Zimmer war recht klein und das Bett leider für uns zu weich. Kein Kühlschrank.
Ansonsten war alles okay - das Personal sehr freundlich. Wir hatten lediglich ein Problem den Eingang zu finden. Und da wir mit dem Auto angereist sind und die Tiefgarage zu war, war es etwas schwierig zu parken um einzuchecken.

The whole room seemed outdated and could use a renovation. The window frames seemed a bit moldy, the curtain wasn't properly attached to the rail. The surroundings were very noisy, which made it hard to sleep. The person cleaning the room left their brush in my bathroom. I would have expected much better for the price.

Unser Zimmer war modern und relativ neu renoviert, was mir sehr zugesagt hat. Es war zwar billig renoviert, aber schön. Auch die Einrichtung war eher billig, aber funktional in Ordnung. Wir hatten ein Kopfkissen zu wenig und baten um ein weiteres, was uns die Dame bringen wollte, aber nicht brachte.
Das Frühstück war nicht sehr vielfältig, aber ok. Die lobby sieht aus wie eine heruntergekommene Shisha Bar, das fand ich sehr abschreckend.
Die Stellplätze in der Tiefgarage kosten 15 Euro pro Tag (!!!), was mir vorher keiner gesagt hat und ich beim auschecken fast aus allen Wolken gefallen bin...
Mir hat die Einrichtung und der Aufenthalt trotzdem sehr gut gefallen. Das Badezimmer war sehr schön :)
Also gerne wieder, aber mit parken auf Freien Parkplätzen...:)

Habe eine Nacht übernachtet. Einrichtung war zweckmässig. Privates Zimmer mit privatem WC und Dusche. Tee und Wasserkocher waren auch im Zimmer vorhanden. Alles ausser unter dem Bett war sauber, dort war alles voller Staub und Dreck. Habe es beim Check-out der Rezeption gemeldet, die Kritik wurde dankend entgegengenommen und sofort zur Behebung aufgeschrieben. Dies hätte gemäss ihrer Aussage nicht passieren dürfen, da auch unter den Betten täglich gereinigt würde. Man gab mir auch freundliche Auskunft über Essensmöglichkeiten in der Nähe (Edeka inklusive Bäckerei gleich nebenan ein paar Schritte weiter). Für den Preis unter 50€ über trivago bzw. expedia bin ich insgesamt zufrieden.

We konden de parkeerplaats op de ochtend van vertrek niet meer verlaten, poort op slot. Niemand te bereiken, zelfs het noodnummer niet. Kamer wel redelijk netjes en op een goede locatie.

Tür zum Hotel fast immer offen. Nachts Geschrei, Gehämmer und Randale, als wenn ein Zimmer demoliert wird. Tagsüber ging es weiter-allerdings keine Erreichbarkeit an der Rezeption. Nächste Nacht genauso. Wiedergutmachung des Hotels nicht erfolgt, ebenso wie die Rechnung per Mail. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen!!!

It is fine hotel, the location is very good but the room has no mini bar and no TV or telephone to call room service!

Sehr laut.
Sehr warm in den Fluren und Zimmern.
Zimmer war am Anreisetag erst gegen 19 Uhr fertig.
Am zweiten Tag funktionierten die Zimmerkarten nicht mehr und wir hatten weder Handtücher noch Badetücher.
Lage war aber sehr zetral . Alles gut erreichbar.
Personal an der Rezeption sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit

Schnell erreichbarer ÖPNV, zuvorkommender Service.
Leider sind die Einrichtungsgegenstände schon sehr runtergerockt (aufgequollen von Wasser und Defekt), die Dusche hat keine Türe die sie vom Rest des Bads trennt, dementsprechend ist dies schnell geflutet. Die Matratze war auch eher durchgelegen.
