I was appalled when we saw the actual hotel - the photos on the ad must have been photoshopped, because it looked nothing like the pics - especially our room. Room was tiny, was not 2 twin beds as requested and pictured, and the bedding consisted of a fitted sheet with no top sheet - just a cotton throw which did not reach the sides of the bed. I do wonder about the validity of the reviews on this hotel....they can't have had the same experience. The breakfast was good, and Sabir on reception was a huge help to us...kudos to him. I needed to go home 2 days early (medical emergency) but the management would not refund the last 2 nights.

This hotel is remarkable for the price with its accommodating and helpful staff, easy walking to major sites and generous room size and basic necessities. This is a busy street and the noise comes through even with windows closed.

Wry lovely place to stay, convenient to see all the major attractions around area, shops are literally everywhere for shopping and dining and most importantly hotel management very friendly and helpful. I arrived at 3 o’clock in the morning and they let me check in without any hassle and offered all the support I needed. My brother and I had an amazing stay here. The property was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was a really nice breakfast that was provided each morning, which included freshly cooked eggs that they started making when you arrived. Was really impressed by the breakfast as it was much better than most hotels I’ve stayed at. This property was also in walking distance of all the activities we had in Istanbul which was really convenient.
The best part was the staff. Everybody was extremely friendly and made us feel at home. All the staff members talked with us and asked us how our day was, and answered all our questions. The main front desk man even helped us book a taxi to the airport for the last day which was really helpful. All of them are great people and they will go above and beyond to help you in any way possible.

I had a fantastic experience staying at this hotel. The staff were all very kind, professional, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Even though I don’t remember their names, I truly appreciated their hospitality.
The room was clean and comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. The location was also very convenient, close to everything I wanted to visit. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety of choices.
Overall, a wonderful stay. I would definitely come back and recommend this hotel to others!

we had a beautiful stay at the Sultan Mehmed hotel. Mehmet, and the rest of the staff made sure our stay is comfortable. Mehmet was generous with ideas of where to go and where to eat. He was always available to offer assistance and show us on the map the best way to reach places. (and also supplied us with a public transportation card). His restaurant recommendations were good. He stayed up late every night till we returned and woke up with us at 5 am when we were departing. The room was clean and was tended to every day. Breakfast was nice and was served by two lovely girls. Tea and coffee are available at the lobby all day. The location of the hotel is excellent. We returned every afternoon to rest and recuperate and then went out again. Mehmet is fluent in English which made our stay ten times better. Would whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

I loved my stay at Sultan Mehmed. I had a small but comfortable room with a great shower. Breakfast was a feast of cold cuts, cheese, fruits, breads and eggs cooked to your preference and served by 2 delightful girls who couldn’t do enough for you.
The hotel is a 5 minute stroll from both the Blue Mosque and Agia Sophia, the tram stop and various reasonable eateries.
Mehmed, the owner, is a mine of useful and interesting information and it was a pleasure to be in his company.

We had this site for a 3 day layover - been to Instanbul several times already and was looking for a 3 day rest and to see what the locals do - which we did with the help of the manager - fantastic is not strong enough - he even loaned us his metro card for the subway - he had spent several years in the USA in Austin, TX and Santa Barbara CA - so english was perfect and he knows US politics - made for great morning conversations - did I mention they make you a custom breakfast every morning - room was great - could see the spire of the Blue Masque and was only 5 minutes literally away - super safe - and next time we go back next year will spend at least a week at this hotel.

The hotel is in my opinion the best location, easy to travel every where with the old bazaar only 10mins walks and the tram only 5 min walk. The staff were amazing and the owner gave use such a great time recommending some very nice places to visit and shop. We will miss the breakfast which was lovely, all the staff went above and beyond.

A very nice hotel. I like that it is small, at a great location at the heart of the historic part of town, walking distance to all the landmarks. This hotel was amazing in it's offerings. The location was great, and it gets full marks in overall cleanliness and service but what makes it extra amazing was the attitude of both the owner and manager. They were very helpful and friendly and helped us make fantastic decisions for our road trip later. With their positive friendly nature and literally no issues in service, it pretty much felt like staying over at a friend's house! The manager Ali had become such a friendly face for our daughter that she renamed the place as Party Hotel! Both Mehmed and Ali were amongst the most genuinely helpful and friendly people in our stay in Turkey and we did stay in a number of other cities and hotels. All in all, 10 outta 10!

Family Hotel with an awesome owner!
We had initially made a reservation with this hotel for four nights and had left open an option for another hotel when we would return from Capadocia. But our stay at this hotel was so amazing that we decided to come back and stay here for another 4 nights. I don't know where to start from. The Hotel was centrally located and was very close from all the historical sites and was five to seven minutes walk from the tram station. The rooms were nice and spacious with mixed blend of modern Turkish architecture. The breakfast was amazing with varieties of eggs, cheese, fruits, breads etc. The best part about of the hotel was its staff and more specifically its owner i.e. Mehmed. He is one amazing guy. He took personal interest in the services that were provided to us. He guided us to all the right places and helped us plan our trip perfectly.

Prime location...everything you want or need to see is within waking distance...the rooms are modern and up to date with comfortable beds...but what you can't put a price tag is on Mehmet...he owns the hotel and he is AMAZING...truly the best and most kind host...he genuinely cares about each guest and wants to make your Turkey experience unforgettable...this is the only hotel I would stay at when I return...I am lucky to know Mehmet and now call him a friend...

In summary – perfect location, excellent hospitality & service. I highly recommend this small hotel. I stayed in this hotel twice – at the start of my Turkey adventure and my last night before flying back home. Management and staff are commended for their friendly and helpful assistance. Breakfast was the same each morning but enjoyable with a good selection of bread, fruit, cheese etc. and a choice of how you want your eggs cooked. The rooms I stayed in are small but very comfortable and functional (plenty of well-appointed power outlets, great water pressure, plenty of hot water, excellent air conditioning). I enjoyed relaxing in the quiet small courtyard at the back of the hotel.

I couldn't be more pleased with our stay. We asked for help with an early checkin and all was ready for us at 10:30 a.m. Everyone was helpful and kind. The location is amazing - just two blocks from the Blue Mosque. Mehmet and his staff helped us find great restaurants, gave helpful suggestions for seeing the area, served a great breakfast and made sure we we understood the directions / map of the area. I hope we can stay there again; I highly recommend it.

This was my 3rd leisure trip to Istanbul. This is a great place and location. Arrived late in the evening and were met by host/owner and he invited us to the really nice back outside lounge for a beer. In the morning they provide a Turkish breakfast, which was very filling, great diversity, and all the coffee of tea you want. Rooms are comfortable and clean with private bathroom. I highly recommend this place. Only a few rooms so not a lot of traffic. But a very short walk to the Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Bazar, Hippodrome, transportation. I am 65, from the USA, travel a lot, often stay in Hostels. I Highly recommend.

THE Place To Stay In SULTANAHMET!
We found this boutique hotel after a lot of internet research and it more than met our expectations. We stayed twice - once for three nights in a standard room, and then again for two nights in a superior room. Both rooms were very comfortable, with king-size beds, and roomier than we had expected for a location in the heart of Sultanahmet district - just 10 minutes' walk from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. Unbelievable personal attention from the owner, who responded promptly to all emails before our arrival and then literally spent hours giving us tips on various attractions/tours. All in all, staying at this charming hotel was one of the most memorable highlights of our 10-day trip to Turkey. The fact that we could leave our luggage in hotel safekeeping while traveling to other places in Turkey and that the owner was kind enough to let us keep the 110-220 volt converter we had borrowed from him during those travels were simply icings on the cake. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough!

The hotel itself is in the historical Sultanahmet area. It is not far from the Blue Mosque and very near the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Irene. Close to the Tram and Metro. One could even walk to the Grand and Spice Bazaar if you have the time. The are is quiet, away from crowds. The other areas of Istanbul is accessible via Tram, metro and buses.
The owner was very kind and warm to us. He gave us good pointers- what to see and what to avoid in terms of tourist traps and not so safe places. He even cooked our breakfast once. Speaking of breakfast, it was great- consisting of some meat, three kinds of cheeses, different kind of bread, fruits, eggs, some sweets, and various types of hot and cold drinks- coffee, tea, juices. We stayed here for four nights prior to an eleven night cruise. I'm glad I did my research, as there was plenty of room for our suitcases. Many of the hotels in the old town have very small rooms. This facility has been recently renovated, and provides the superior amenities American and European travelers seek.
From the moment we were warmly welcomed by a Turk with a New Zealand/English accent, and sense of humor to go with it, I knew we had the right place. The included breakfast was great, staff helpful and friendly, and the area quiet and safe, but also very close to all the sights. We walked to everything.

A really welcoming hotel. Comfortable rooms only five minutes' walk from the Blue Mosque and other sites. A small garden for breakfast and relaxation. Free tea coffee and cake - and reasonably priced drinks. Staff for whom nothing is too much trouble - even guiding you to a restaurant for dinner.

Lovely room . Modern, clean and comfortable with powerful walk-in shower . Hotel in perfect position only 5 minute walk from both the Blue Mosque + Arasta Bazaar and in the other direction, from Little Aya Sofya. Surrounded by cafés and some shops. We arrived at around 9.30am but were able to access our room immediately. Very friendly helpful staff who offered tips on sightseeing, loaned us umbrellas and booked taxi to airport after first telling us an approximate price. Tasty Turkish breakfast with fresh fruit and cooked to order eggs in outdoor courtyard or indoors.

If you are looking for a great value, old town Istanbul hotel ... this is the place to stay. The location is terrific, the rooms are updated and clean and the staff reflects the attitude of the hotel owner Mehmet which is a comprehensive, friendly customer focus. Mehmet was available to recommend tours, restaurants, and strategies / timing for visiting the various old town sights. The garden in the back of the hotel is pleasant and relaxing ... a wonderful place to enjoy a cool drink after a full day of sightseeing.

From the minute I walked into Sultan Mehmed Hotel I felt welcome and very much at home. Mehmed and Ali are fantastic hosts, always having time to chat and help make my stay enjoyable and relaxing. This small hotel is wonderfully located in the old city. It is within easy walking distance of most significant sites including the Blue Mosque. We walked easily to and from the Grand Bazaar though going up to the Bazaaar and down on the way back. Mehmet, the owner, is unbelievably customer service oriented beginning from his introductory email after we reserved via Expedia. This is a first for me as most locations don't even bother to acknowledge a reservation. Mehmet interceded with our taxi driver who decided to take the long way from Sabiha Gokcen airport using the second rather than the first, closer, bridge to cross the Bosporous. The room was spotless, bed comfortable, and a nice, quiet AC. Our room faced the street which was a bit noisy with the windows open but just fine with the AC on. Breakfast had options with eggs to order, fresh bread, Turkish breafast items and/oryogurt and orange juice. A very pleasant stay.
