Katelyn Hotel was excellent and it’s in a short walking distance to many attractions in the historical peninsula. Hotel itself is a typical boutique hotel; however, their service differentiates them from the rest. We were five families traveling together stayed at this hotel and all of us liked them.
They not only made their terrace available for my grandson’s birthday party, they brought all utensils we needed for the party. They didn’t have to do that. Whenever we needed help, they were always there to help. Their breakfast is excellent and broad selection of food for their size. In many other countries like Italy and France, you would have less than half what they had.
I usually don’t give hotel reviews, and when I do I am a very though grader. Rarely a hotel gets a five star rating from me. But Katelya hotel deserved one.

It was an amazing stay at Hotel Katelya! The staff were super friendly & extremely helpful. The amenities were great, room was lovely, always clean & tidy - breakfast was delicious! Close to all the tourist spots. Love the quaint little street it was on.

Hotel is ok. Staff are really friendly and kind. The superior room shower is small, and the bathroom is small. Bed mattress abit creaky and broken. Breakfast could do with more hot food options and rotation of options generally. Walls are paper thin, can hear dogs howling at night. Overall does the job for a cheap stay. Would rate 3/5.

An excellent family owned hotel, few minutes from the blue mosque and the tram station.
Very clean, beds are very comfortable, breakfast was good and the staff were amazing specially Yasin at the front desk.
The only thing i didnt like is that the shower box is a bit small specially for chubby guy like me other than that everything elses was perfect.

Good hotel near key historical attractions. Varied breakfast and staff are all very polite. They also helped us with booking a taxi for airport transfer which was nice.

Areas for improvement - only one iron/ironing board for whole hotel so sometimes had to wait also ironing board is very mini size - please get a full size ironing board for guests. Showers are also very small - you can just about get in.

Overall would recommend this hotel for its kind staff, good breakfast and excellent location!

It was a friendly easy convenient stay. Very accommodating as we had booked the room the wrong date and were able to add an extra night with no problem. They are available 24/7 for any help you may need which is a plus. It is about a 10 minute walk from many of the main attractions which we loved. I would stay here again!

The room was very spacious, clean, and had the amenities we needed. Breakfast was delicious and with many choices; it was a very wide buffet spread. The people in the reception were very helpful, not just on checkin and checkout, but also in giving directions to spots. The location is great- very near Central Train Station. I would recommend to friends and family, and will definitely stay again if in Istanbul

We stayed in istanbul for 4 nights at the katelya hotel - honestly cannot fault this hotel. The hotel is situated in an excellent locations only 5-10 mins away from main sites and tram in Sultanahmet. We had water in the room on arrival and the room was immaculate. The buffet breakfast was amazing, but i think what really made the holiday exceptional for us was the staff. Each and every staff member so helpful especially Fahad and Yaseen who both went above and beyond on a few occasions whether be to provide directions to advice about trams or to fend off unwanted followers! Will definitely be recommending this hotel to others and stay here again. Thank you all!

The Hotel is located in the heart of Sultanahmet area. The Staff is amazing. The main building is awesome and I was told the annex buiding will be upgraded soon. I stayed in the annex building and can only give me review about the annex building. The annex builing is across the street from the main building. It is an old apartment house from what I can assess - reminded me of my apartment in NYC one bedroom and kitchen living area and a bathroom. I hope they do the reno work on the annex building soon. Half the apartment was slanted :) (I could feel everything was rolling to one side). The property is just a few steps away from Hagia Sofia, Blue mosque and Topkapi palace. Lots of dining options available. Grand Bazaar is about a 15 mins walk.
I have to give 5 Stars to the staff! Very helpful and approachable. I would recommend this property to families and friends that would like to explore the area walking.

Will never make the mistake again.

The location is really nice. That was the only good thing about our stay. We booked a sea view room. The room was really small. The water in the washroom was of yellow color. When we complained to the hotel staff, they simply said that they have some renovation taking place and cannot do anything about it. The Air conditioner was not working. When i enquired the staff to as if i can decrease the thermostat in our room, they simply said that its centrally controlled and we cant do it. In the morning loud banging noise woke us up. Then it continued throughout the day.

Unforgettable Experience

Me and my wife had an amazing time in Istanbul and we attribute part of that to unbelievable/ outstanding service from the hotel.

The hotel arranged a shutttlebus for us from the airport. We were greeted at the hotel by Yacin a staff attendant. I cant put into words how helpful he was in planning some of our days with excursions and showing us all the great places (and even arranging transportation).

The hotel owner Maya, was also very helpful in helping us find places and making sure we were comfortable.

To sum it up and be very honest, you're not getting a 5 star room . However your definitely getting a 5 star experience with the service, location and breakfast .

Ultimately the service and location was so good , that it made our trip an unforgettable experience.

Also for those wondering about location , this is easily a 9.9 /10 ..

We had a few hiccups while we were staying there. There were 3 instances where we didn't have water running into our room because of a burst pipe, supposedly. However, the hotel was nice albeit the sea view room was a lot smaller than I expected. It's location is great though! Right next to many major sites definitely a 5 min walk to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. I would suggest eating at Doy Doy which is a great restaurant right up the street from the hotel. The breakfast options were superb, Maya was very helpful in giving us suggestions where to go to find restaurants and items we needed for our trip. I wish I could have had a better experience without the water issues and a slightly better room, but for the price we got I had a great stay and I would actually consider coming to this hotel again!

My wife and I stayed 9 nights in this hotel. Excellent service by the hotel staff. The staff would go out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was very good. Buffet style, but the kitchen staff would cook fresh eggs for us every morning. Hamdi, the person behind the desk during the day, was exceptional. He would come around in the dining area every morning, greeting all the guests and asking if he could help in anyway. If we were to go to Istanbul again, this hotel would be top of the list.

I stayed at this hotel in October of this year and i could not be happier with the service i have received.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and just gave us great advise on the city and area. Room was clean, modern with comfortable bad. Breakfast was yummy, made my morning.
Great location, quiet but very close to the tourist sites ... walked everywhere.
Could not have hoped for a better stay... looking forward to my next trip to Istanbul.

I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Istanbul within the old side of the city. Only 15 minutes walk to the Grand Bazzar and Palace.

Stayed in this hotel for two nights. It has an excellent location, in a walk in distance from main attractions, like Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. The staff was really nice and helpful. If you ask in the front desk they will arrange you a shuttle airport pickup for 5 euros (Ataturk airport), that cheap! I reccommend this hotel.

Great boutique hotel

The hotel was very close to all the most visited buildings in Istanbul. It is strategically close to everything and is right behind the Blue Mosque but in a quiet neighborhood.
The room looks exactly like the pictures online. Clean and modern.
Free full breakfast was a nice surprise, they even made eggs to order.
Hamdi, the hotel's manager was great, friendly and also helped us out with scheduling tours, showing us the lay of the land, arranging private shuttle to and from the airport and also gave us a brief history of his country. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and family that will be visiting Istanbul next year.

If you are spending lots of time searching for the right hotel for your visit to Istanbul like I did, look no further. Stay at Katelya Hotel. Simply because it is great. The staff is the best, the hotel is in a great location, the food is good, it is very clean and contemporary. Did I mention the staff? They are so friendly and helpful. We arrived late and they asked the restaurant next door to stay open for us and we had a delicious dinner. They provided car services which is so helpful and they care if you enjoying your time in their hometown. People often mention in reviews the staff was nice but this is very true for this hotel. We loved our visit and I highly recommend you stay here!

I have stayed at Katelya three times! I absolutely love the coziness and quirkiness of this simple hotel. The location is ideal in a quiet area of Sultan Ahmed, within walking distance to all the sites in the area. The staff are always professional and friendly and willing to help with any question. A very nice hotel with a nice staff

The Sultanahmet area has a million hotels. So it is a bit hard to find any one of them by cab. The Katelya hotel was not trivial to find. The hotel is 5-10 minute walk (through Arasta Bazaar) to the Sultanahmet square which has Ayasofya and the Blue Mosque.

The hotel itself is really nice, and I got treated very professionally and nicely by the staff there. The breakfast was excellent as well. I stayed in two different rooms. I got \"upgraded\" to room 302, upstairs, last night, and the room has a view (even remotely) of the Bosphorus. The nights were quiet, not a lot of noise from the streets. You could hear others in other rooms, but that wasn't a big issue.

In all, I wholeheartedly recommend Katelya Hotel. I am a Turkish guy living in Arizona, and have no affiliation with this hotel. So I have no reason to be nice to them except the nice way I got treated there.

a fantastic stay!!

We, a family of three adults, spent a wonderful time at the hotel.
Location is almost unbeatable as so close to key points of interest (Agya Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi) yet in a very quiet area which during Ramadan can be of great value at night.
The service is absolutely unbeatable. So kind. So customer friendly.
The breakfast is wonderful. Maybe the selection could be slightly extended but quality is what matters to us most and the food was delicious. The breakfast room is also very special revealing ancient foundations through a glass section in the ground.
From the tramway it is a 10 minutes walk and I can imagine it can be a bit challenging at night.
The neighborhood feels very safe not that we felt unsafe in Istanbul at anytime but that quiet part with lots of restaurants and a few small convenience stores around the guest house made things even better.
We just loved it and will be probably back in a hopefully near future.
