Just got home. This place exceeded all my expectations and has become my favorite Mexico resort. Food was incredible, place was super clean, staff was very friendly. 10/10
(Oceanfront room, bathroom had a septic smell on check in, but we ran the shower a few minutes and continued to in the mornings and never had another issue!)

Location of resort is great - safe, walkable and swimmable beach. Quiet location, beautiful scenery.
Facilities are excellent and the layout of the resort makes for a relaxing experience.
Our room was very nice - although we did have a problem on check-in that we were given a 2 double bed room when we'd specifically requested a king bed room. This was corrected the next day and we moved rooms for the duration of the stay.

The hotel is beautiful, with lots of places to sit and relax, lovely gardens and an excellent swimming pool. There were always pool chairs available and poolside service for drinks. The food in the buffet and at the a-la-cartes was excellent. You will never go hungry here, there is always something delicious to eat. The beach is well maintained and the attendant is quick to bring you a lounge chair, they could do with a few more umbrellas at the beach. The staff are friendly and professional.
Our favourite place was the sunset bar overlooking the ocean. The view is stunning at any time of day and especially just after the sun has set.
We will definitely be back to Iberostar Playa Mita.

This hotel is in severe need of a renovation. My room on several occasions had no hot water, the mini fridge was not refilled and msid service was minimal. Maid literally picked up a used towel and rehung it! I left a geberoustip each day.

Check in took forever. The front desk staff have to walk to the back behind closed doors to ask the manager everything. I booked well in advance. I requested adjoining rooms; 1 room with 2 beds, 1 room with 1 King. I confirmed my request before arrival. Upon checking in (8pm so they gave my correct rooms away earlier in the day), I was assigned 2 rooms with 2 beds/room and they were not adjoining or even on the same floor. We were moved to the correct rooms the next day for a charge of $500 USD/room. I was told the new rooms would be ready by 3pm, they were not. The a/c did not work in 1 room all week despite many calls & maintenance visits. The safe did not work in the other room for a few days before it was repaired. I will not be returning.

The beach was wonderful, we saw Humpback Whales in the distance while having a drink at the Sunset Bar. The resort is well laid out and easy to get around. The 2 buffet areas provided great choice and decent food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restraunts were OK. The beds were very comfortable and the room clean. The coffe shop was great for a pastry and afternoon caffeine pick me up. The pool area was safe and accessible ,lots of beds, games, and the kids club looked fabulous if we had littles. Negatives-my opinion not 5 star, a little rough around the edges, service was disappointing staff seemed overworked and not very friendly, drink service was slow and unenthusiastic. Overall good value for money, not disappointed, take sunscreen as it's $40 at the onsite store. Whale watch and boogie board hire are worth the money. Uber is affordable and easy for transfers from airport to hotel.

The decorations for Xmas and friendly super courteous was an added bonus. The beach is big enough for all guests with enough chairs and umbrellas. We have stayed here many times 7 or 8 times and the service is always outstanding. Mayra in the lobby bar is the most hard working waitress and always has a smile. Lolita and Isabela were wonderful servers at mealtime. Estephanie the chef created wonderful dishes that were yummy! Marco did an excellent job teaching dance classes and having fun interacting with guests. Pedro and Hector are our favorite bar tenders in the lobby bar, best drinks ever. The entertainers in the lobby bar were very good.
Now for the improvement needs, the hotel is ready for a refresh, the pool is in desperate need, missing tiles, mold, light fixtures loose. Rooms are getting a little dated but the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning was out for three days which was tough. Minor fixes like replace torn curtains and lamp shades will help make a better impression.

The views around the resort are absolutely beautiful, and many of the staff are quite lovely. Sadly I did get food poisoning one night at the buffet early in our trip, but it was great afterwards! Do note that if you’re a big steak lover, you’ll only enjoy the steaks here if you like very well-done. My husband however had a less pleasant experience on our last day as we were enjoying the cabanas around the pool (are lovely and have privacy curtains). While swimming in the smaller, lower level pool, he sliced the bottom of his foot on the broken and jagged tiles on the bottom of the pool. While the staff were quick to help us and provide him with basic first aid, this did end up resulting in some nerve damage on the pad of his foot. It also really highlighted for us just how bad the tiles in the pools are, which resulted in us taking a harder look at everything. There was a tiny bit of mold in the room bathroom near the shower, which honestly is expected travelling to an incredibly humid country during summer; much of the support walls around the resort are starting to crack and erode, as well as we found a big cockroach on one of the main interior paths (only one was seen which I count as a win). Did we enjoy our stay? Of course! What’s not to love about hot weather, few tourists (we went in August), and beautiful views. Would we stay at this resort again? No we would not. For a few extra bucks we would’ve been happier staying elsewhere, but that’s also just our opinions!

Especially we want to say huge THANK YOU to: Vero, Angel, and Mario. We wish we get more personal touch and willing to help from Eduardo while we were going through the room upgrade process. Unfortunately, we had to contact our tour agent to help us to make it happen. Other than that, our stay was just perfect! We will be back for sure!

Staff was very friendly and helpful and the resort itself is beautiful. The food - absolutely terrible by day four I was so tired of being served pretty but flavorless slop I just stopped eating. Even beyond the buffet the Hibachi and steakhouse were terrible as well. Room service was even worse and you can't get any kind of beverage through room service ( coffee would have been very helpful. There were roaches in my room not totally infested but I saw at least 5 \" breeder roaches \" the kind that love to go home with you. The cleanliness of the room in general wasn't great. Even after housekeeping finished cleaning each day you could still see and feel the dirt on the floor. I had to throw away all of my socks because they were all black on the bottom from walking around my hotel room.

This is a great resort for those with allergies or celiacs! When we checked in the staff asked about food allergies and at all restaurants they did as well. Im celiac and I had no reactions! This is a great resort for families with young kids as the children’s section and kids club!

Towels. Horrible towels and smelly at the rooms. Bathroom overall is not good. Small and the shower design makes the whole bathroom get flooded. We had to ask for more towels always to dry the floor. One time the housekeeping people told us they only can give us 4 towels per day.

We received a room upgrade when we arrived at 1:30pm. However, we were told our room would be ready at 4pm. We went back to reception at 4pm and room was not ready. We finally got checked in at 5pm but when we arrived at room, the room was still not ready. We had to wait outside in heat in our regular clothes for another hour before room was finally ready.
Also, we ordered room service just before 11pm. The order went through successfully. However, the food never came. No one wrote me back in the app either.
The stay was still good but we lost valuable time on the front end. We would have never taken the upgrade if we were told that the wait would be almost 5 hours.

This property exceeded my expectations. Family friendly hotel they have activities all throughout the day for littles and adults. The rooms are well maintained the only complain is I wish the beds were a bit bigger a little outdated. Other than that we had a great time and will definitely go back.

Iberostar Selection Hotel-Playa Mita is such a beautiful place. The staff is super friendly and courteous — it even made me want to speak a bit of Spanish! The beach is nice and warm, and the pool is amazing too. There are lots of fun activities! The vibe is so good and everything is really clean. I didn’t have any problems at all. The room was clean and super comfy. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Don’t let the resort staff scam you into using resort credits. We’ve been to plenty of resorts and this is the only one where I’ve felt the staff isn’t friendly or welcoming. Between the front desk, the concierge team, the servers in restaurants we didn’t have one friendly face.

Our group rented 5 rooms to come to cellebrate her bday and we dont think it was fair to be aksed to joing one of their meetings.

We have been coming to Iberostar for the past 10 years. In between we tried other hotels with higher star ratings but we were disappointed and came back to Iberostar. We love their food, access to the beach, ground, everything.My only wish is that hotel rooms smell dump and has a distinct unpleasant smell. We just came back from our holiday there and the room smelled damp and strange. I am not sure about the reason. Rooms are cleaned daily and everything seems ok but the damp and humid cellar like smell was a bit disturbing. Other than that everything was awesome .
