However, I found it a bit inconveniencing with the lack of room service for stay under five days. The parking was also another part I found a bit frustrating with the valet parking costing 50 a night, so I don’t it’s recommended for guests who are renting cars and driving.

Loved our stay here! They provided shell leis upon arrival, staff was very friendly and helpful. They explained the extras they have, for example wine and cheese party on certain days, washer and dryers, lei making on special days, quick to respond to extras for the room. Pool area was small but clean. They give you towel cards to get towels to take to the beach. The view from our room was amazing! We had 2 balconies and both were furnished, one side overlooked the city and the other at the ocean. We had the 1 bedroom suite ocean view. The kitchen had a large window and sliding glass door that looked out to the ocean. Full kitchen available with filtered water and ice cubes! Coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, utensils, dishwasher, microwave. Oven and stove! Big room, bathroom was also large with a full closet and drawers. They even had shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion all great quality and large bottles im the shower attached for your use! Highly recommend. We would definitely stay here again

We booked this hotel in November of last year and reserved two rooms, each with two beds. A week before our arrival, we called to confirm that our rooms would be next to each other, and we were assured there would be no issues with our reservation.
However, when we arrived, we were told that only two rooms with king-size beds and pull-out couches were available. This was extremely disappointing, as our original reservation clearly specified two beds in each room. No one wants to sleep on a pull-out couch, yet two members of our group were forced to do so. The couch squeaked every time someone moved, making it very uncomfortable for sleeping.
Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. The blinds in the living area would not close because they were broken. Our room was never cleaned during our stay, and we had to take our own trash out every day. When we saw housekeeping staff servicing other rooms, we had to ask them for clean towels ourselves.
In addition, the air conditioner was very loud and had only one setting. The closet door in our room would not open. When we called for assistance, maintenance came to the room but ultimately told us that the closet could not be used.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the action in Waikīkī and within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and attractions. We appreciated that hot coffee and cold water were always available in the lobby, the rooms were clean and well maintained, and the elevators were fast and efficient. During our stay, the hotel also hosted a complimentary wine and cheese event with a hula dancer, which was a nice touch.

Our stay at this hotel exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect location between the beach and the excitement of downtown Waikiki. The room would be excellent for an extended stay with dishware, toaster oven, coffee maker, and place settings for four. The manager’s reception is a plus and the staff was extremely accommodating to all our needs for storing luggage upon arrival and at checkout. I would highly recommend this hotel when visiting Oahu.

There was a huge hidden fee that this hotel charged me for. I was charged $307 and they told me that was for the deposit so I was okay with it because I knew I would get it back after my stay. Until the next day I saw I was charged another $100 and I asked them about that and now they said that the $100 was for the deposit and that the $307 was a “resort fee”. Which they couldn’t even elaborate what the resort fee included. Very scammy of them. And the manager or the clerk area was not friendly at all. Also there was construction going at during my stay so it was insanely loud and kept me up. The walls at this hotel are also very thin and you can hear everything next door

I don’t appreciate the fact that I paid in advance for a two bed room and I get there and I have a queen sized bed and a sofa bed. And I am supposed to be okay with it because the upgrade was free. Then the maid was trying to get in our room and because my friend wouldn’t let her in the front desk called up asking us are we okay because they heard we were sick. Like what? I had a great experience. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because it’s a bit outdated. The room I stayed in was a one bedroom with a full kitchen and living room area. The service was great, every time we requested towels, trash bags, or anything it was delivered promptly. They also only have valet parking which I thought was very nice and convenient. The parking cost is $50 a day which was very reasonable for the area. The pool was great, my baby loved it and the beach was just a short walk away. The hotel is also right next to a park area (not playground but green space).
I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place especially if you have young kiddos (I traveled with an 18 month old).

Overall we had a good stay. They did not have the room that we booked available but supposedly upgraded us to a better room (which meant my two teenagers slept on a pullout sofa instead of a queen bed). The staff didn’t notify us of this at checkin but only explained when we questioned why we didn’t have two queen beds. The toilet didn’t flush well, and the room had a bit of a musty smell. Finally, although I do think the hotel’s cleanliness was pretty good, we did have to kill a large roach in our room one night.

Pretty decent for the price you pay for and if you’re planning on spending most of your days outside the hotel. The only thing that wasn’t to our liking was that they had no self parking in their garage. Valet only. So if you do have a car, it’ll be $50 each night but you can’t park it yourself, you’ll need valet every time you go in/out. But the rest of our stay was pleasant! Location was also across from food trucks. Traveled as a family of 4, with children.

The pool is rather small, the balconies on the top floors are very narrow and the only ice machine is on the 1st floor. Several years ago (2018) we stayed in this hotel and had a good experience, but in our latest trip in 2016, the hotel has undergone some, what I would consider, detrimental changes. Free breakfast, which was listed on the Expedia website as available, was NOT available during the 2026 trip and the staff, on my extremely limited conversations with them, were rather rude and NOT helpful. It is a good location and has worked out well in the past, but on my next trip, I will investigate other options, so I can't highly recommend them any longer.

The Luana Waikiki is a pretty mid range hotel in Waikiki a little off the beaten path. It is a lesser known hotel than some of the other ones but manages to keep some of the old Hawaiian charm without sacrificing comfort and modern amenities. What I really love are the kitchens in the rooms because they are fully equipped just like an apartment or small condo with toaster oven and blender etc so you can do your own cooking, non microwave reheating and feel like you are at home.

Stayed from 3/11/26-3/19/26 in room 1607. A big storm hit two into our stay, which caused the bedroom to flood. The carpet was soaked all the way to the bed and bedroom door. Went to the front and let them know. Told they would send someone up to check it out. Returned to desk, 90 minutes later, to find out no one has gone to our room. They sent one of the bellhops up with us to check. He verified and said he would let them know.
Two hours later, no one has contacted us or came to the room. I went back down the desk to find out what was going on. They had no idea what I was talking about, because the person i was initially dealing left for the night and didnt pass on the info. I told them needed a shopvac to suck up all the water and several towels. Someone eventually did show. He told me the water was coming from around the sliding glass door.
Next morning I the interior wall was bulging, which meant thats where the watet was coming from, not the sliding door. I went back to the desk to let them know. I was told they couldn't move us to another room, cuz the hotel was full. I told him I should be entitled to some compensation and he agreed to reimbursing 3 days.
The room stunk so bad, we bought a bottle of Febreeze. At check out, i wanted to confirm reimbursement. I was told yes at $150. A lot different than about $900. No manager on duty. She confirmed my phone # and was someone will call. I told if no one does, then i will post pictures. No one has called.
Two hours later, no one has contacted us or came to the room. I went back down the desk to find out what was going on. They had no idea what I was talking about, because the person i was initially dealing left for the night and didnt pass on the info. I told them needed a shopvac to suck up all the water and several towels. Someone eventually did show. He told me the water was coming from around the sliding glass door.
Next morning I the interior wall was bulging, which meant thats where the watet was coming from, not the sliding door. I went back to the desk to let them know. I was told they couldn't move us to another room, cuz the hotel was full. I told him I should be entitled to some compensation and he agreed to reimbursing 3 days.
The room stunk so bad, we bought a bottle of Febreeze. At check out, i wanted to confirm reimbursement. I was told yes at $150. A lot different than about $900. No manager on duty. She confirmed my phone # and was someone will call. I told if no one does, then i will post pictures. No one has called.
