The hotel had plenty of amenities and the staff were very helpful and great. Especially Jimmy on reception and Cocca and Lorenzo on the entertainment. The food was plentiful and varied.
However the tiles around the pool area and in the pool need attention. Also tea and coffee in the rooms with a kettle would be ideal. Otherwise a great holiday

We upgraded our stay, but it some of the upgrade figures never materialised, even after highlighting this to reception staff, which were rather ignorant. Housekeeping staff were very nice and friendly, big thank you to them. Bar and restaurant staff were hit and miss, some of them were very good, others were not really interested in their job. Overall we had a good time and considering to return.

This hotel is not 4*:not close to the beach, has awful food and drinks and is in desperate need of an upgrade.
The family room is in desperate need of renovation since it's very old and outdated .Unfortunately,the cleaning was also extremely poorly done,with cockroaches near the bed and in one of the two bathrooms ,the doors were extremely unkept and the machine where we would insert our card was rusty.The food lacked variety,we almost ate the same thing every day and the drinks were cheap and diluted.

Lovely hotel. All areas very clean. Landscaping was great, lots of cacti. Massive choice of food for all meals although as others have said it is not very hot. There are microwaves dotted about so you can re-heat soup or porridge. The snack bar is good for lunch. We visited first week of February and found the pools a bit cool. Spa area is good and was very quiet. We paid 19 euros for 4 hours,no treatments. There is a lot of walking as the complex is very spread out, there are also lots of steps. We were in block 8, at the bottom of the property but closest to the gate. it's probably a very different 'vibe' in spring and summer, but was quiet when we were there, entertainment and bars all closed by 11.30pm. Entertainment a bit hit and miss. Check in was quite long even though we had completed a lot of it online prior to arrival. Reception staff were good with ordering taxis, sorting problems. Rooms were very clean, nice and big with sea view balconies. Showers/hot water excellent. There is a safe in the room (payable at reception) Pool towels require a 10 euro deposit per towel, the process is very long winded!. You pay cash at reception and get a plastic card, take the card to the towel man and get the towel. They are not exchanged everyday for clean/dry towels. When you leave, take the towel back to towel man, get your plastic card, take that and the paperwork (given to you originally at reception) back to reception and they give you the cash back.

Nice huge hotel with a nice view from Morro Jable Bay. A bit noisy as loads of activities on, so if you are a light sleeper, make sure to request a quieter room.

Food was good. Hotel was good if you wanted a swimming pool holiday although the 2 pools and loungers would not be enough for all the guests. The beach is large and sandy but is a long walk down hill from the hotel, you can walk through the hotel down to the beach and then use an elevator into a partly abandoned shopping area passed a under road tunnel used by drug addicts with their discards, graffiti youre not welcome with finger.

Lovely hotel - 100% would go back

Beautiful setting, pools gorgeous, clean comfortable rooms. Food excellent and friendly staff. Entertainers put a lot of effort into the entertainment they provide. Would definitely come back to this hotel in travelling to the south of Fuerteventura again.

Nice room, dreadful staff

The staff are mostly hostile and inefficient. The person who checked me in was not very welcoming or willing to help. I arrived in the hours of darkness and had to ask another member of staff where to find my room on the sprawling complex. Two female members of the restaurant staff one evening accused me of avoiding paying for a soft drink. I pointed out that they had no evidence of this and that the fault lay with them not clearing the table from previous guest use. I explained this to the restaurant manager who seemed uninterested and was unapologetic. My request for a high floor room was ignored and I was given the middle floor of a three storey building. the room however was lovely. Very spacious including the wardrobes. There was an easy to operate safe, large tv with BBC 1,2 and 4 and itv, the bathroom was showroom size with lots of space around the basin, bidet and bath that had a marble seating area beside. Sliding doors on balconies and stone tiled floors throughout, so some noise hazards if faced with inconsiderate neighbours! Balconies are not private as they have wooden lattices either side. A 1.5 litre bottle of water is provided each day of housekeeping. Two fans are in the room, a ceiling rotary and one in a sealed unit. Dinner in the restaurant had a superb selection of offerings whilst breakfast was fairly standard with hard overcooked bacon. Some pleasant and sociable chefs. On site there is a small gym and pools on two different levels.

Seventh time just like a comfy pair of slippers

You cannot go far wrong here. If you want heat, sun, a sun bed, good food without the fancy fanfare you cannot go wrong here. This is our 7th time at the hotel. Now.. nothings changed but it needs to. Not going overboard but simple refinements are needed, comfy sofas, strict rules on where to smoke, better lighting of a night time & acoustic panels in the dining hall to lessen the noise. The sister hotel the ‘Mar’ up the hill has been really spruced up and the outside music arena and bar looked perfect. The theatre here was a bit of a misfit it’s too low in ceiling height & should be outside. There should be a better way of disposing of cups & the rooms UK tv stations could be increased as it’s nice to relax in your room. The hotel is nothing extraordinary but it’s like your slippers or favourite jumper.. comfy.. well worn.. not fashionable.. and one you can have no issue staying at. The area is awful! The beautiful crystal blue sea and power sands.. ohh you will but don’t come as I don’t want to see it populated too much more! …. Jandia the canaries hidden secret!

The food was good in the main hall but in the snack bar flies everywhere... Needs some sort of air con tho keep the flies off the food!
The reception staff let the team down whilst cleaning staff were superb.
All inclusive doesn't include the putting green!
When my son was sick in his room they wouldn't let me take a bottle of wine to stay in the room with him so couldn't enjoy the all inclusive facilities for 2 days.
I like a cigar now and again but there are no adequate smoking facilitiesonly standing next to a bin in the sun.
I'm a resident in Spain but they wouldn't give me residensia discount!

Writer places to stay but seen much worse

Would not class it as a 4 star main lobby is very nice and perhaps the main rooms are good. The out building rooms are somewhat dated and the Aircon is old, noisy and does not work very well. Pool area and staff are amazing. There was plenty of food but most of the time is was warm at best. Maybe is was down to the pandamic I'm not sure but personally I wouldnt go back to this hotel. However I did enjoy the break.given the current state of the world.

Disappointing for a 4 star hotel!

We are a couple who know what we like. We won’t go for less than 4 star and we will always do our research to find the best possible property.

I had contacted the hotel in advance to check the hotel definitely had a working fridge in the room as per the description as my girlfriend has to keep medication cold. I was told yes.

When we arrived at the property there was a distinct lack of care and interest in our stay and I was given attitude because I asked to carry a silly green bracelet that you must wear in the hotel (ridiculous!). We then went to our room and the hallway had no lights making it pitch black. The room itself was outdated and was generally rundown and needing some TLC. For example broken bits of door from use, cracked floor tiles and more. We discovered that the fridge did not work and the AC did not work either. It took the hotel hours to fix the the issues and they refused to simply change our room and gave me attitude about it. The next day our door would not open in the room, it resulted in a member of staff climbing from the next balcony into our room. A cleaner also left a dirty bathroom cleaning cloth in our room! (Unacceptable at any time but especially during COVID. For compensation, I asked to simply have 2 hours late checkout and I was given attitude and told it would be €15. That really was the last straw.

I wanted to like this hotel as my family and I used to stay at Occidentals when I was younger.

I was here with two of my friends for 4 nights. The area of the hotel is pleasant and surrounded by wild beach. The hotel itself is very nice with two lovely pools and a lovely chill out area. We were given a lovely room for three with a nice view. Nevertheless, the service at the check-in was not up to standard, the receptionist was unpleasant when we were asking for the details of the Half board service as we were not aware that drinks (water and non alcoholic beverages ) were not included for dinner. It was not a nice welcome to the hotel. However all the other staffs were very welcoming and made our trip comfortable.

There was a good variety of bar areas to pick from and plenty of outside space either sat at a table for a drink/snack or around the pool. Sun loungers we’re available any time of day without the early morning scramble you usually see. A very good family orientated resort within easy walking distance to the beach. A bit of a tidy up around the pool areas wouldn’t go amiss as a few tiles both in and around the pool were missing or broken but this would not put me off going back.

Pleasant 5th visit

This was our 5th visit to this hotel over a 10 year span making use of the Tesco Clubcard voucher discounts.
Whilst the bedroom we were in this time is dated it could not be faulted for cleanliness or comfort of the bed itself.
The entire hotel, and it is huge, is well maintained, clean and tidy.
The food is typical buffet fare but well presented and plentiful.
The beaches were stunning and a walk to the highest point on the island La Zarza with its view over Cofete and both coasts recommended. It is a long 3hr walk, tough towards the final summit, but well worth it. The start can be reached by following the road up the hill from the main hotel entrance.
Overall we had a pleasant short break and would visit again.

Like a comfy pair of shoes!

Fifth visit to the Jandia Playa. In short it does exactly what it says on the tin. In essence, not the plush gold dripping palace, then again not the grotty hole you wish you had avoided. Treat this hotel like your most comfy pair of shoes! Does the job, not the ultimate in design, gets you on your way & won’t let you down. Add in minor improvements on the way and it’s something if you look at it for what it is, you will appreciate the value over the years.

Few pointers: Beds THE most comfortable ever.
Views from main building - amazing.
Food - plentiful, yes repetitive, but clean & you will not starve!
Drink - it’s there & you can enjoy without going overboard.
Entertainment- good, but if the management put a glitter disco ball in the lobby area where live singers were & dimmed the lighting believe me they would have all nationalities up dancing! Missing a trick there Barcelo!

Pool beds - this a problem, up at 7, grwb your bed, clear off for 3-4 hours then return, this isn’t good enough, time to sort this problem out.

Put that aside & full credit to the whole team!

Overall our stay at Occidental Jandia Playa was okay, however there are a few issues which need to be highlighted:

1) The staff (especially reception) are not particularly friendly and could do with a lesson in customer service. Also one of the cleaners had stolen cigarettes from our room and smoked them INSIDE our room thinking we wouldn't notice (the room stank of cigarettes when we returned).

2) The food was disappointing and unsanitary. There were flies everywhere in the food and they recycled a lot of the main dishes. I understand that there isn't too much variety with the food considering the price we paid for all inclusive, however the flies and unsanitary conditions really killed our appetites. Also saw a lot of the hotel residents stick their dirty hands to fondues and so forth. Disgusting.

3) This is a minor issue and only want to mention this to allow the hotel to make positive changes: They need to stop using plastic for everything! The food had plastic sticks for serving, all drinks were served in plastic containers and the mess after the day by the pool was awful. I also found broken plastic in my food on the first night arriving.. I'm sure this is a problem in most hotels in the world, just made me sad that so much resources are being wasted.

Overall, we did enjoy our time, the above needed to be mentioned. I'm sure if you're looking for a sunny holiday by the pool, you generally won't be disappointed.

The staff here are brilliant. Especially the kids entertainers. Every night the disco for kids was well appreciated by our three year old. Followed by a great show to keep us all laughing. The poodle are fine and the food although a bit same same was fine considering it was all inclusive.
The beach is only five minutes away and is stunning.

The staff were excellent and on the day of check in at the reception -very welcoming and friendly staff.
The facilties were ok but could have done more with heated pool and the Gym facility is so small , it has more equipmenst in the small room and hardly few people could fit in!!
The room cleaning service was good but there was no water to drink or coffee on a daily basis ( only one bottle of normal water and sparkling water were in the fridge as a compliment when checked in).
My friends who accopmanied us booked directly through the hotel website and they had complimnet vouchers of nearly 50 Euros with welcome gifts and a room with a difference.
I honestly felt cheated for booking through expedia!! i wouldnt recommend through expedia!!

The food was not great in restaurant (though could always find something) and the food wasn’t very warm-more staff needed in restaurant to assist with allocating tables and clearing them for new customers arriving.

A great all-inclusive resort for families with many amenities, pools, etc in a terrific location on the side of a cliff. Our room overlooked the ocean and it was easy to access the beach using the elevator down to the plaza on the main road into town and the lighthouse. As a couple, we opted for Half-Board and were singled out many times in the buffet dining room as second class clients. Wonderful staff though in reception and some waiters who were very nice to us, knowing the company policies are somewhat mean-spirited. Not enough seats in entertainment area which is in a bar, so we were unable to enjoy the shows. Our room was very spacious and well-appointed. There was plenty of parking on the street outside the resort.

Handier near Jandia!

The Occidental is a rather large hotel at the opposite end of the strip form the cafes and shops. It was close to amenties as there is a local small shopping centre where you can buy your essentials however.

Upon arrival and departure, a porter will take you by buggy with your cases to your apartment as it is quite a distance to walk from reception! If you have any walking disability be aware that the hotel is on a hill and the walks around the hotel grounds are uphill.

Food is buffet style and a very good choice of local as well as international dishes. It does seem to be the same choice every day however and things like soup etc was only very warm and not piping hot.
As a half board resident, you are put into a separate section of the restaurant and it did seem very segregated if you have made friends with people in a class! Service was ok for drinks etc but did have to wait on a number of occasions.

Rooms are quite well specified with the usual tv and fridge but I was disappointed that there wasn't any tea/coffee making facility as advertised. There is air conditioning and and a ceiling fan for temperature comfort though. Toiletries are supplied in the bathroom complimentary so no need to pack any in your suitcase.

Overall, I would say I had a nice stay as it is in a handy location for accessing the beach which is a 15 min walk. The hotel is quiet off season and apart from a couple of minor issues worth booking if you want a good beach holiday.

Overall a pleasant surprise - good value with surprisingly good food and facilities. Very close to beach. Food variety was very good. Quality of salads in particular stood out. Mass catered fish and meat was as good as you can expect. Entertainment was also a pleasant surprise ... most shows were good and all included. All inclusive also covered pretty much all drinks unless you wanted imported beers or premium wines. Customer service was a little lacking - guest services were only open a few hours per day and we tended to get passed around with requests. Also a bit irritating to be charged to use the safe and pay deposits for towels....but nothing major. Rooms were good sized and clean. Overall a great choice, particularly with kids.

A cheeky week in the sun.

The hotel is very large and being Feurtaventura build on a hillside so may not suit all abilities. There are many lifts to make access easier for those less able to get down to the Ventura shopping area, but it is still a 5-10 minute walk to the beach from there, which may need to be considered for some.
The food was excellent and varied with lots of choice to be had. The food was always plentiful and very well presented. Some items cooked to order, some however could be a little cold at times, particularly the buffet breakfast (scrambled eggs & mushrooms) however this did not detract from the overall experience. The waiting staff worked very hard Ernesto was always very busy along with his colleges in the outside area. Luis worked very hard at the bar too.
We tended to go to the beach because we prefer this, the pool area was always busy and despite the no towel rule this was not adhered to- i watch one man \"reserve\" five beds in a row before going to breakfast? Whilst I appreciate that it can be difficult to get this many beds together if every one did this there would be lots of empty bed with only a towel on, which is exactly how it was for most of the time we were there.

Amazing experience!!

I spent 5 days at this hotel with my wife and my 1 year old son and I had a very great time. To start with the staff, which was very friendly and helpful (I noticed that Spanish and Portuguese people were always helpful and nice to us... so, being nice and helpful to parents with kids seems to be natural for them).The gardens of the hotel are amazing and very well cared and the beach across the street is amazing and you will find a shopping mall to buy souvenirs at walking distance. The hotel is a bit far from the Puerto de Rosario airport (1 hour), but we rented a car to get there. Driving in Fuerteventura is very easy, but be prepared to drive a standard car (non-automatic car). To conclude, we were very satisfied with the all inclusive system. They serve Tropical beer (local beer) and a variety of wine options. Their strength regarding food is the variety (Italian, different kinds of meat, vegan, several deserts, etc). However, there was nothing memorable regarding food (It was more or less what I was expecting to get). Overall, I strongly recommend this hotel to families travelling with infants and toddlers like me!

+ There was a lot of variety with the food & they changed what was offered daily (with dinner, breakfast was mostly the same)
+ The rooms were clean mostly clean
+ Facilities were great & clean

- We went half board, because we like to experience the local cuisine when we're on holiday. We were separated at dinner, which was a bit odd - especially as we weren't notified of this beforehand, so we were embarrassingly escorted after taking a seat in the \"all inclusive section\"
- The food they did have was mostly cold, they definitely went for quantity over quality!
- They didn't always give us clean glasses when cleaning our room, once they left our dirty mugs in the sink!
- Staff were sometimes miserable & quite dismissive
- The safe cost 3 euros per day
- The \"king\" bed was just two single beds pushed together, if the sheet wasn't on the bed properly then the gap would become obvious & quite uncomfortable

Tip: You have to pay a 10 euro deposit for a towel to use at the pool & 2 euros every time you wanted to change the towel. We bought a towel from one of the shops downstairs for 7 euro (probably could've got them cheaper if we haggled!)
Tip: Beer isn't the best & is quite expensive for what you get, we bought one drink from the bar & bought cans from the supermarket close by (which were around 50 cents per can, we then just poured the beer from the can into the cup so no one noticed.

The beach is over the road with the hotel set up on a hill overlooking the coast ... free parking on road which was great ... hotel is large and a bit impersonal but well run and clean ... some may say it needs a bit of an update but it had everything you need for a relaxing stay ... buffet meals were plentiful with lots of choice at every station (salads, hot meals, desserts) again clean and well organised although not always the most flavoursome! All in all it is a great spot & we were happy and comfortable there!

Dated hotel with cheesy entertainment

The hotel is very dated, it was under going some decoration during our stay, sometimes well in to the evening. On one evening, during some 'entertainment' decorators were painting and cleaning next to a pianist performing.

The rooms are not soundproofed - we could hear our neighbours using the toilet and shower.

As we were on half board our drinks were not included. The hotel takes advantage of this as they charged €8 for a gin and tonic. Drinks generally were very overpriced.

If you love cheesy entertainment - this place is for you. We just wanted to chill at a bar with some easy listening music, but instead we were treated to badly sung Abba tributes.

The local town and restaurants are a 45 minute walk away, and the restaurants aren't very good, they all have the same menu everywhere!

Great hotel close to the beech

This was our first family holiday. Booked it last minute. What a beautiful place it is. Great beech gorgeous views. We went half board as we wanted to go out in the afternoon. Breakfast and dinner the food was great, so much choice didn’t know where to start. My son is 4 he loved every minute of it. Great swimming facilities.

What we liked:
- hotel has a nice territory;
- room has kettle and tea;
- food quality is very good;
- ocean and mountains are in the walking distance (for us))).

Concerns:
- no double beds despite those were promised while booking, but the matrasses were nice though;
- hotel rules are unclear, where you can and can't go, what is free to eat/drink what is not;
- hotel and furniture is a bit old;
- seaview from the window was a bit strange, just a big roof with nothing on it, and some ocean above it))).

Nice hotel with a great spa.

Managed to get a good deal staying here. Close to beach and local town is walkable. Make sure you get a room with a sea view. Unfortunately one of the pools was closed and they are not heated pools - not a problem in the summer but an issue in the winter months. Gorgeous spa. Food was good but not a lot of variety. Bar, restaurant and cleaning staff were friendly but reception staff were cold and Business like - the check in process wasn’t personable or pleasant, not what you expect from a 4 star hotel.

If you are travelling by public transport there is need to climb the hill on the side- quite steep. Lovely reception area.
This site is very hilly with lifts only in the main building. Lots of stairs or steep climbs.
Enormous restaurant with some lovely food. Staff are hard working. Good WiFi but ensure you are in Occidental not Barceló or it will be slow.
Lift down to small shopping centre below but then a elk to the beach or town.

Amazing sea views and proximity to a sandy beach

We are a couple on our 1 year anniversary staying for 4 days at the hotel. Andy at the reception was brilliant to upgrade us to a sea view suite with Jacuzzi, rather than a simple double room with sea view. We really enjoyed the energy of the animation team Ana, Pablo, Willy, Greta to name some of them, who were every day engaging us to a nice conversation and motivating us to participate in the activities by the pool. we loved the salsa and bachata sessions and also the mini golf and aqua aerobics. The room was spotless clean every day. There is so much choice for breakfast and although the hotel was busy we managed to get a table outside at the patio every day. The waiters are very helpful and funny. For dinner , as we were half board, we were in the special section with candle light at the table. The food again was superb and I personally loved the sea food options and deserts. The hotel had a heated pool and 2 non-heated pools. On the last day we spend the morning at the spa as a treat to luxury.

Overall very good quality hotel with tasty food, good facilities and generally pleasant atmosphere. Close to an excellent, sandy , enormously large beach, great for families.
Initial problem with the reception was quickly resolved and we could change the room after the fist night . The rest of our stay was great.

Great hotel if you love just relaxing by the pool

Had a great time at this hotel. Pools are just a pleasure to jump in to first thing in the morning after an epic spread for breakfast.

Food was very good every day we were there and a the snack bar caters very well if you fancy a quick lunch or small bite to eat rather than sitting up in the main restaurant. Staff are very polite and helpful even if your Spanish isn't good.

The beach is very close, 10 minute walk and the small shopping centre just out side is good for any small items or holiday bits you need.

Whole heartedly recommended this place to anyone to stay at, though activities are a little sparse in the south there's still a lot to see and do.

Nice hotel close to the beach (10 mins walk if your room is near sea view). Food was brilliant with lots of variety - Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mediterranean etc. There are various activities during the day. Kids and adults can join in such as Zumba, archery, swimming pool games and exercises, yoga, table tennis competition for kids and adults. Evening entertainment was ok but not great. Staff were very friendly and the hotel facilities was good. i would recommend this hotel.

The area where the hotel is situated is lovely, a huge beach that is totally unspoilt, the hotel provides a free bus to take you down to the beach and shopping area they are hourly so not that frequent. Close by there are shops and a Spar supermarket so not overpriced. I found the area to be not particularly commercialised which is what I personally prefer. There is easy access to public transport to other parts of the island and the hotel staff are happy to provide you with timetables and bus prices.

Large low rise hotel with lovely gardens/sea views

We had a good stay at this hotel. We booked a family room which was large and well equipped, with very comfortable beds. In our view, the sea view rooms are better - the lower, garden rooms look onto the grounds but privacy is restricted. We had no problems at check-in as reception was not busy - we were taken by buggy to our room. The facilities are very good and the hotel gardens well kept and very pretty. The lovely Jandia beach is close by and it is possible to have a nice walk into Morro Jable. The pool area is good and we had no problem getting sunbeds. Food was plentiful and there was a fair bit of choice - we had no complaints about this. The only issue for us was the segregation of half board and all inclusive guests in the dining area. We approached reception and discussed this with a very helpful member of staff who explained the rationale behind this. We changed to all inclusive at reasonable cost and upgraded to a sea view room with greater privacy and were very happy with this. We found staff to be friendly, helpful and hard-working, the only exception being one of the chefs who seemed very hot and bothered and kept banging the larger spoons on the counter in a forceful way - due to the echo this caused, we found this activity insensitive and rude. We loved the snack bar and ended up having breakfast there most days as we are not early risers/massive breakfast eaters.

Surprisingly personal large hotel

This is an enormous hotel, which has the potential to be like an adult summer camp, but its staff create a really personal experience. The buffet restaurant is a case in point. The size of an aircraft hanger with enough seats to serve an army, it is zoned into food types, the food is beautifully displayed and there are staff everywhere to help you if you need assistance. Its three pools and its abundance of sun loungers meant we never wanted for a place to sit and its gardens are so beautifully kept that even walking around was a pleasure. And fully inclusive really means fully inclusive. Prosecco for breakfast (if you want it), three full meals a day, snacks at any time and no charge for beers, wines and spirits up until 11:00pm. For the price we paid this was astonishing value for money.

Pros:

- good food (a bit crowdy close to xmas)
- many swimming pools
- Close to a beach
- on-road parking close to hotel (free)
- a big friendly cat Figaro who likes lots of strokes (and food;-) )
- next to FV2 road so easy navigation to/from airport.

Cons:
- Entertainment could be much better!
- So called heated swimming pool was coooold!

Very nice hotel close to the beach. Hotel is huge and spread over a large area, seems to predominantly cater for all inclusive. 3 euro's per day for safe in room is a bit of a mickey take but overall I'd recommend this hotel. Its a bit far from the airport, 90-120 mins on coach which would put me off next time.

Good 4 star hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel: good quality food, the best beaches in Europe, nice ocean view from the balcony (building 3), 3 large swimming pools, walking distance to Jandia Playa.
What would make our stay even better: improved entertainment in the evenings and use of the existing sport facilities( the tennis court and football pitch
were closed for renovation).
But overall - a very pleasant holiday.

Good location for beach access

Nice hotel, good location for beach access, though a bit out of the way. Takes about half an hour walk to the town via a nice promenade, or you can take a taxi (about 4 euros). Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Shopping centre with Spar supermarket just below the hotel. Food for buffet dinner a bit of a letdown - no fresh vegetables, just frozen ones which were tasteless. Good selection for breakfast.

Two hotels in one......

A one week stay at the hotel. 2 adults, 2 children (18 yrs and 13 years).

Two rooms, interconnecting. Rooms were excellent, very well presented and really quite large. With the adjoining doors open this was equivalent in size to a generous suite.

Balcony with a view of the sea and Jandia beach.

Hotel is set into the hillside and is fairly large. 9 accommodation blocks and 3 pools for 'regular' guests and a very large 'Club Premium' section with it's own entrance, pool and dining areas.

Having stayed at many Barcleo hotels around the world, we found the staff here to be excellent. Very polite and very helpful. Certainly in that respect, amongst the best.

Dining is buffet. Interestingly, drinks are self service (including at dinner unless you are a Premium guest). Works for the most part but disappointingly, house wine (red, white, rose) is on tap, poorly chilled (white and rose) and is frankly undrinkable. Red is also poor.

Soft drinks were consistently 'flat', much to the disappointment of the kids. While food choice was pretty good, buffet 'hot food' was frequently cold and did not appear to be warmed at all which was slightly concerning.

Boringly, we do generally use the gym on all inclusive holidays but sadly not on this occasion. The gym is very small; 2 bikes, 2 treadmills and 4 machines....all of which were broken or missing parts (eg no pins in the weight stacks) making everything unusable. Parts awaited from Gran Canaria, apparently.

Great value.

We have used this hotel several times previously and the standards have improved steadily over the years. The rooms are comfortable and the facilities fine, although some areas are becoming a little tired. The choice of food at breakfast and dinner is wide and varied, with something to suit most tastes. As a large-scale buffet service it is excellent!

Staff were helpful, lots of food choices, our room was kept immaculate. We had a lovely week and got what we paid for, thank you. Lots of steps to keep in mind, gym could do with a bit more in it. Gardens are very pretty. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a week away and not looking for anything too grand but want a hotel where everything is done for you and it's clean....

Good hotel close to beach, ideal for families

Booked through expedia for the first time and there was a mix up somewhere as when we checked in we only had 1 room instead of the 2 we booked, we also asked for one to be a twin room nearby but ended up with a double in a separate building. The hotel staff were great and sorted us out, not sure who's fault the error was but ultimately we did not get what we had asked for.

Room extremely basic but ok for price paid. Staff at the bar and restaurants friendly, location good but staff at check in/reception make one not want to go back. Extremely slow in processing, long line and pretty rude and unfriendly. Also room check in starts at 2pm and we only managed to persuade them to finally hand over a room at close to 4pm and with zero apologies on their end. We were also denied a late check out since our flight was in the evening.

Value for money, close to beach

Lovely open and clear reception, room was clean, large and welcoming. Beach close by and can cut through the grounds so a shorter walk. Once you know the resort is German and has a lot of nudity on the beach it is fine. 1st language is Spanish then German then French and finally English. Food is plentiful but as I am a vegetarian it was very limited. No salad is labeled and contain a lot of fish and the veg sauce for pasta had ham in so be aware. You can ask and use the Mar hotel which has a inside pool. On the whole a lovely relaxing holiday.
