Staff were friendly. Bed was comfortable but the rest of the room was dirty, falling apart with holes and stains in carpet. Website and Expedia states it was renovated in 2017 but staff stated that was only some of them as they ran out of money. Was looking forward to the spa but decided not to use it as the water looked dirty with floaties in it. Tried to contact expedia to arrange other accommodation but AI bot just made the whole experience worse.

The pictures on the website definitely need updating by about 30 years.
Staff smoking outside our rooms didn’t start off our stay too well.
Room 826 was very noisy as the door to entrance, bar/ pool slammed so much the whole room shuddered. This carried on to at least all night till 5am and mostly by staff who seemed to live on site.
We rang reception and they apologised and moved the smokers away from room window. We had no milk and no hairdryer which we asked for and they brought to us.
Saturday night had a 21st birthday celebration in the room directly next to our rooms followed by some sort of conference that was still going after midnight with about 25 Chinese students all making a whole bunch of noise then about 01.00 they went the their rooms yes through the door next to our rooms.
Cockroach’s were found on day one and more found in both mornings of our stay.
Once again reported to reception on our check out this morning
He apologised and said the owners know about the room problem with noise, and are not prepared to upgrade. Towels had holes, staff did not know how to pour a vodka and soda water and had to find others to help.
Very disappointing hotel in fact it should not be described as a hotel at all more of a backpackers place and that is probably doing the backpackers a disservice.
Overall this place is not in a fit state to host members of the public and i respectfully suggest you send a representative to stay and then remove it from your system.

Stayed at Mount Richmond Hotel for a week whilst visiting Auckland from overseas. Despite the location being slightly out from Auckland city, it is an easy drive into the city or public transport is available.

From the moment we arrived, the young gentleman working reception in the afternoons was very kind and welcoming and extremely helpful, even providing recommendations after we had an issue with our car.

The room was spotless, and had everything we needed for our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable allowing for a great night's sleep every night.

The hotels facilities, including the pool and spa were excellent and great to use after a long day of sightseeing.

Would highly recommend staying here!

This place is far FAR from a 4 star hotel. The staff is amazing, the rest is not. Bathroom has and smells of mold. The king size bed is 2 smaller beds pushed together like a cruise ship. You can hear everything in your room, doors slamming, people talking in the halls etc. This hotel is 2.5 - 3 stars. I have no idea why Expedia has this at 4 stars. There is a small room with casino slots which was a plus 😎

Large double bed kept separating (2 singles pushed together), and the blankets and sheets were too small for the larger bed. It was tidy enough and looks like they've been doing updates but some corners had ripped up carpet where bugs were coming through the floor. The pool was nice but had some leaves in it.

I was in a room by the entrance door and everytime someone swiped to enter there was a load beep - went all night
The TV was dismal... no apps on the tv were working and would not update so pretty much stuck for entertainment.

I booked to pay total cost of accommodation at property.
Shocking to receive email from Sandra threatening to cancel my reservation - email copy attached. The hotel reservation personnel was charging my credit card but failed. Insisted it will be canceled if I don’t provide my credit card to be charged. She told me that pay at property was between Hotel.com and customer, not between Mt Richmond Hotel and Hotels.com. She only knew after receiving the booking confirmation from Hotels.com and it’s not their policy.
If there’s any misunderstanding or communication problems between Mt Richmond Hotel and Hotels.com, why is customer threatened or penalized?

The room is so very small and bare. Can even put and open a suitcase and no place in bathroom to put toothbrush etc.

The wall between is like hollow and we were hearing talking and noises next room in the middle of the night doing their stuff with bed squeaking and heavy breathing.

No more stay for me here.

The Staff at this Hotel were great and have no issues. But the hotel needs a refurbishment and tidied up. Poolside was untidy, wet towels, rubbish, cleaning equipment lying all around the side. Reception and front doors look spectacular, but the once behind that the property is very tired and worn out. It would not take a lot of money to spruce up the property. Outside the room window had old rags and clothes lying in the long grass. Breakfast was very nice, but pricey. Coffee was a extra cost which was disappointing. Was very disappointed that the pool was off limits to guests as there was a private function. Room was adequate to our needs but could have been so much better. Missing window latches, cupboard door nearly falling off in bathroom, shower grotty as silicone is marked. Not sure if we would stay again.

This was a surprise. Whilst it looks like its from the 1980s (but well kept) it was quite fresh and modern within the rooms. Free parking onsite. Bed medium firm (yeh!). Free WiFi. Aircon. Large clean and fresh ensuite. No noise from adjacent rooms/hallway. Just up the road from many fast food venues (not walkable). Not walkable to a train station. Venue was quiet. Restaurant onsite. Very good value for money. Would stay again. Love the staff - very professional and friendly, super helpful.

We found that this place was pretty rundown and in our room it had things like a towel rail almost falling off the wall. Also, the shower mixer was backwards and if you tried to turn it towards the hot side, it got colder and if you turned it to cold side, it got hotter. It was also loud with a lot of creaking noises from above and our room was near the pool area and there was music playing pretty much the whole time too.

Cheap accommodation, but that goes with the price. Its not fancy, you can hear other guests walking around, showering, opening and closing doors. The photos look much better than in person. Overall, our stay was okay, but i dont think we'll be going back.

We were shocked when we turned up to this place having booked it last minute and unfortunately it was non-refundable. I can see why, we walked straight out, probably others do the same. The lady behind the counter was pleasant enough, that was all I can say positive really. Even just entering the property it is very uninviting. The first thing we saw on arriving at the hotel was the pokies/gaming area right beside the reception! Didn't see anything about that in the listing. Desperate people playing pokies next door with iron bars on the windows between the pokies and reception and multiple secutity cameras watching that area. The outside of the hotel was not looking good, way more rundown than all the ohotos online would show. By the state of some of the cars in the carpark and a couple of the people roaming around I suspect this place is being used for emergncy accom too, I might be wrong. The area in the imediate vicinity of the hotel was a mess with rubbish on the roadside outside multiple properties. It was a reallly rough area, not the hotel's fault but something for travellers to be wary of. I've stayed in dodgy hotels in Central America with arme dguards and I was more nervous about this place. Didn't even see the rooms, we just left and wrote of the full cost of the room that we had paid to Wotif. Probably teach me a lesson for not reading the bad reviews before booking. I found the listing to be quite misleading so be very aware

Great location, friendly staff, very clean. There was limited parking and it was quite a trek to carry our bags to our room. It's quite popular and there were a lot of visitors socialising in the rooms next door, however they were considerate and not too noisy. Bed was comfortable and we had an uninterrupted sleep.
