Grand hotel on the river!!!

Absolutely wonderful hotel right on the rhein river! Wish we had more than 1 night, will definitely be going back. Our room was very grand with a balcony. And the beds were one of the most comfortable we've been on in awhile. Breakfast was included and had many options, tasting delicious!

We have stayed at the Rheinhotel Dreesen many times and the staff is without fail friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, pretty, fastidiously clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast spread is wonderful and you're dining in a spectacular room with huge windows looking out over the river and across at castle-topped hills. It's definitely worth springing for a room with a balcony on the river if you can swing it -- gorgeous sunrises, glittering lights at night, boats and swans passing by. The rooms facing the street are nice too -- beautiful huge trees outside and there's no street noise at all. The neighborhood is exceptionally lovely, quiet, and very safe, and you're in easy walking distance to many wonderful small shops and restaurants as well as the Bad Godesberg train station.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Our bedroom was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The food was excellent and the views over the Rhine were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and I liked the fact that I could practice my German without them immediately going into English! My only small complaint was that I would have liked a bathtub in the bathroom which was spacious enough to have one. Otherwise it was a lovely hotel and we hope to come again sometime.

nice hotel on the Rhine ... we arrived too late for dinner in the restaurant, but the beer garden had food and such needed beer after a messy day of travel. Great running and cycling track along the river with the hotel hiring out bikes. Nice room with great view.

The Dreesen is a very traditional, beautiful and well maintained older hotel. Staff and grounds were wonderful.
The breakfast Buffett has everything you could want.
I did not eat at the hotel restaurant for anything other than breakfast but it has a very traditional breakfast.
Parking is a little bit of a walk but this is a common problem all over Bonn. Rooms have been recently remodeled in a modern yet traditional style.
I had a room with a 2nd floor with a view of the Rhine.

Really nice hotel; but hot nights problematic

The hotel location is really nice; on the Rhin river, especially if you have a room with a river balcony. Hotel condition is overall quite good and Breakfast is also good.
No ACs in the room though, and if it is a hot night during summer and the windows are left open you will have many kinds of small bugs in the room that is annoying.

Comfortable Hotel on the Rhine with great views!

I was warmly welcomed by the gentleman at reception when I arrived around 9 pm. He assured me that I would be able to get a meal at the restaurant before it closed at 10 pm and that I could move my car away from the front door after I had put my bags away in the room. Indeed, he was in the restaurant when I came downstairs again to be sure that they would look after me! My room was quite generously sized and the outlook of the hotel on the Rhein is lovely. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious and as I went down to breakfast early, only a few other people having a quiet breakfast and reading newspapers were there. All in all, a most pleasant stay!

A lovely river-view hotel

The Rheinhotel Dreesen is a bit off the beaten path. As the name implies, it's directly on the banks of the Rhine, and has magnificent views of the seven hills across the river, including the magnificent Castle Drachenburg. Since it's a bit isolated, it's really only an option if you have a car at your disposal, but the upside is that it's quiet and it's lovely. You're just steps away from a relaxing walk along the Rhine, or the hotel offers bicycles to its guests if a bike ride is more to your liking.

Local attractions that are an easy drive away include Burg Eltz, Castle Cochem, Phantasialand, and the cities of Bonn, Koblenz and Cologne.

Fabulous views of Rhine but hotel very dated, last decorated in 1970s? Despite views slightly forbidding dining rooms, hotel is obviously chasing conference and functions market rather than individual tourists. Lunch and dinner menu truly disappointing (incl stewed horsemeat -- which may be 'traditional' but is off-putting to many people -- and rabbit, fiddly dishes) instead of good, straight forward German cuisine. Flies on breakfast ham and sausage (yes, it was warm but still...). In short, expensive, esp. for Brexited Brits, for what it was. But the views were Fabulous.

Awesome hotel right on the Rhine with great staff

We loved staying here. Previously we had stayed at the Steigenburger Peterberg (also great) but came here because that hotel was full. We really loved it and got a superior rate for a junior suite, which was an amazing room with a balcony RIGHT on the Riverbank, so we could watch the ships pass each other and enjoy magnificent views. The people who work there were wonderfully helpful -- the wait staff, the front desk people, the housekeeping team, all terrific.

Thanks to its location on the banks of the Rhine river and across from the so-called Siebengebirge, and thanks to is grand 19th century style, the Dreesen is a very special and unique hotel.
One plus from its glorious past, the room have very high ceiling, and make it unusually spacious. If any critique: the shower needs to have a curtain that can prevent the water to flow on the floor.

The rooms facing onto the river have beautiful views. The hotel is very clean and well looked after, but the decor feels somewhat dated in places. The older parts of the building have beautiful period features. The wood panelled breakfast room is impressive and has spectacular river views.

Wonderful high end value

My husband and I had to be in Bonn for business and wanted to mix in some down time so I chose the Rheinhotel Dreesen as a happy medium - close enough to center city Bonn (20 minute drive) yet a pleasing location to relax without a high optempo.
Due to airport delays, my husband and I had to adjust our reservation. When we contacted the hotel, the clerk was most amenable and pleasant which should have been our first clue that we chose correctly. Upon arrival, the front desk was efficient and personable. Due to scheduling changes, I had to depart a day ahead of my husband. Christian arranged for transport to the airport very quickly for me and the service provided was top notch.
The property itself has an attractive unassuming façade that does not do justice to the interior or the views: The history of the hotel is evident in the classic colors and warmth throughout. The main dining area looks out over the river and is as elegant as the offerings on its menu.
The double room we were given had a balcony over the walking path, facing the river. Although small by some standards, it didn't feel small: it is well appointed with a spacious bath. My pet peeve is cleanliness and I was pleased to see that housekeeping keeps a high standard.
Only breakfast was sampled (we enjoyed the evening in Bonn) and it did not disappoint.

Rheinhotel Dreesen is an excellent value that I not only recommend, but look forward to visiting again.

Nice location but lacking

Historic hotel right on the Rhine river, very beautiful surroundings. But the facility is really outdated. I am not talking about the decoration, which should be \"Old\" to keep the historic flavor. But the carpets are worn and stained or worn (on the stairs and in the hallways), there is no coffer/tea maker in the room. When I asked front desk to get one, the answer was \"we don't have any\". How is that a 4-star hotel?

Luxury hotel close to station

Once we found it ( took half an hour and a phone call) the area was very pleasant, with the Rhine flowing past and lots of trees in a residential area.
Staff were excellent and room clean although soap in squeezy bottles attached to the wall were impossible to use.
The main restaurant was very formal, expensive and nearly empty so we elected to sit in the beer garden to eat. The food was reasonable for the price ( mainly sausage based) and staff lovely.
Breakfast was very good and they had gluten free bread on request.
We took the train to Cologne - the station is 20mins walk ( the staff say 10 but only if you are very fit!) and trains run every half an hour ( they stop in Bonn). Look up as you exit the station and there is the cathedral.

Pricey but worth it.

Perfect setting, big rooms, amazing food in the restaurant (I had the duck), the best breakfast in Europe! Smoked salmon, a machine that squeezes actual oranges into juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, pastries....I ate for over an hour it was so good!

Better Options for Business Travelers in Bonn

Its an old old building, and in the summer it can be hot in Bonn. This building offers no a/c or even fans in the room. The front desk staff is helpful, but also forgot to book a taxi when requested the night before. Nice setting on the river though that can't be beat!

For a 4 day business trip, the hotel is well located from Koln Bonn airport by taxi. For the daily meetings I had a short 15 min taxi ride to Bonn. Room was big and well kept, confy and silent. Good closet for business atire and small desk with good internet connection to prepare and send any documents. Food served in room was well prepared and delivered quickly. Plenty of channels on TV when not working.optionally you can go for a walk along the river. Very beautiful natural landscape sorrounds the hotel and sits on a friendly neighbourhood. Did not try the local restaurants, but there a a few around in walking distance. The breakfast and dinner are well served in the hotel by friendly staff and there is a good range in the menu to choose from. One to keep on the list to return possibly on leisure trips.

Das Haus atmet Geschichte, allein das ist schon einen Besuch wert. Aber auch davon unabhängig ist das Dreesen ein sehr schönes Hotel mit einer super Lage direkt am Rhein mit Blick aufs Siebengebirge. Was besonders gefällt ist der perfekte Service und das Essen. Ich habe selten eine so ausgewogene Karte gesehen. Hier findet sich etwas für jeden Geschmack!

Das Hotel ist doch schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Und es roch bei uns auf dem Balkon stark nach Gulli…auf Nachfrage wurde uns gesagt, dass die Dachrinne wohl verschmutzt sei und in den nächsten Tagen gereinigt wird. Das nützt uns jedoch wenig und nahm wirklich viel vom Charme der Lage, da es keinen Spaß machte, auf dem Balkon zu sitzen.
Beim Frühstück war das Buffet nur unzureichend nachgefüllt. Die Chefin gab sich redlich Mühe, war jedoch aufgrund von Personalmangel auch überfordert. Mein bestelltes Ei kam eine halbe Stunde später. An diesem Tag hörte ich einige Gäste schimpfen. Wir hatten wohl ein schlechtes Wochenende erwischt.
Zum Positiven: die Lage ist bezaubernd!
