The hotel was clean, we only had 2 issues. The first was not their fault, the power went out at 9 on Friday and was off for 1.5 hours. No one answered the phone downstairs to let us know what was happening. The second was that we were on the 3rd floor and there was absolutely no hot water to be had.

The breakfast was bad. Everything tasted reheated from the day before. The scrambled eggs were water down and tasted nasty. The bacon was old and and reheated, hard as shoe leather. The fruit was old and tasted like it sat in the fridge for days. Me and the wife will be back. This experience was way better then the Greek town casino. But we will not be included breakfast in next stay, that was a wast of money.

Bed sheets were completely stained I could tell they were clean but I didn’t feel comfortable with sleeping stained sheets which looks like it has been in there MONTHS Hotels make well over enough money to where they can afford to replace sheets I thought that was part of the reason why they want you to put a deposit down for damages etc. I also had to report the amount of noise I had to deal I travel three hours away from this location and wanted to take a nap once I got checked in it was absolutely impossible to do so because there were kids literally running a marathon up and down the hallway I couldn’t believe it. I did complain to the front desk. They told me that they were check into the matter when I got back from my event, things seem more quieter, but still noise was being made.

I had a 4 night stay. Everything went good until my last night, which was on a Sunday night. The entire right side of the 3rd floor had parties until 5am. Nothing was done about the noise and I couldn’t sleep but 5 minutes before my 10 hour drive back to the South! Whoever the staff was that night was definitely in on it.

The room was nice, bed was comfortable and it was very clean, but the biggest problem was the entire hotel smelled like weed. The bar and restaurant was closed the entire time we stayed there, which was on the weekend. Wouldn’t stay there again just based on the smell. Pretty off putting that they allow that.

Overall, the hotel has a nice aesthetic and the staff treated us well, but the system was down so we couldn’t order room service. On top of that, the room next to us had loud arguments at various points late at night—for two nights straight. Since we weren't staying long and didn't want to the inconvenience of moving rooms, we chose not to complain. If it hadn't been for those issues, we'd return.

I will never stay at the Marriott Detroit Southfield again, and I strongly recommend others think twice before booking. My experience was beyond unacceptable from start to finish.

First, the hallways were complete chaos. Kids were screaming, running up and down the halls, and even yelling slur words with zero intervention from staff. It felt more like a poorly supervised dorm than a Marriott property.

Second—and most concerning—one of the housekeepers left our room door wide open for HOURS while we were gone. Thousands of dollars in clothing and merchandise were sitting in plain sight, completely accessible to anyone walking by. The level of negligence is unreal.

Then on top of that, we needed maintenance that took nearly four hours to address. The bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, making it impossible to get good rest after everything else that already went wrong.

I reported everything to both the manager and the GM, and the “compensation” I received was a point balance equal to about twenty dollars. Twenty dollars after all of that. An absolute joke.

This location is a disgrace to the Marriott name. I will not return, and I can’t recommend it to anyone.

2 stars and let me explain. Checked in, received our room key, went to the room the door was already open. Huge Red Flag! Got into the room with my family, the beds were barely made. There were no pillow cases on the pillows. The room generally was not ready. To not make a fuss, we asked the cleaning lady for some pillow cases, as she was already on our floor. She said, no unfortunately thats only something the front desk can provide. The staff were friendly enough, however, guest services said for the inconvenience they would provide breakfast vouchers for my family of 4. It never came. The room they moved us to wasnt the cleanest little left over dust/crums on the floor. The bathroom sink appeared to be clogged as it took some time for the water to drain. It was an unfortunate experience. 1 star because the staff were generally pleasant and the location is close to the highways and 1 more because fortunately for us we were only there 1 night, they had a pool for the kid (which we didnt use) and the beds were confortable. After a 5 hour drive we didnt need the hassle of changing rooms and the orher room being just as poor.

I liked everything about this hotel stay except the breakfast. It could've been a lot better specifically waffles and pancakes but there was a good variety, the sausage were delicious and the serbice was exceptional so that made up for it! Other than that, everything was great and I would definitely stay here again.

Disgusting Pool at an Otherwise Decent Hotel

I brought my family here while visiting some friends. We fully intended to use the pool multiple times a day, at the start and end of our days.

The front desk staff was very pleasant and welcoming, and the room itself was comfortable and clean. The parking lot was also excellently well lit. Unfortunately, the pool completely ruined what could have been a great stay.

While the water was pleasantly warm, the pool was disgusting. There were sticks, leaves, bugs, and even a bandage floating in it. On top of that, there was a noticeable film across the surface and throughout the water. I immediately notified the front desk on our first night—staff were polite, seemed genuinely concerned, and said they would contact maintenance right away. I took my young daughter out and we immediately showered, happy we did get our heads or faces in the pool water.

When I checked the pool the following night, it was still in the same condition—bandage and all. It’s clear that no one addressed the issue.

For a Marriott property, I expected much better upkeep and attention to cleanliness, especially in a shared facility like the pool.

Our server, Jolie(?) was the best. Efficient and caring. The first day we stayed, there was more staffing and when we came to breakfast it appeared that our server did not have any assistance. Being a server for over 20 years- it was obvious to see the lack of support that she had, no bid boy, no manager in sight which was disappointing to see on a Saturday morning and about 25 people she was esotojf on.

We got everything we needed and as I mentioned, our server was great!

Guest services was awesome, check-in was a breeze. All staff I came in contact with was friendly and quite helpful. Parking was a bit congested but adequate. The room was clean, spacious, and quiet. The only takeaway was most of the outlets were loose so the devices were hard to keep charged.

Maybe I just assumed because of the verbiage but it’s not and it’s not good enough for it to be 20.00 a person. The dining area was not cleaned consistently so food a crumbs was everywhere. Parking after 1am is hard there is barley any parking if you come in late

Got 2 rooms joining. Dirty floors. Ceiling around bathrooms, really dirty and poor circulation, this cased the ceiling to drip dirty liquid on you anytime you took a shower. One of the walls had huge gaps in it but hidden with wallpaper held up by thumb tac’s!!

Nice property, great location near alot of food spots, liquor stores.

The rooms were clean, even after my inspection which is always a plus.

The room was a bit dated with no microwave (it did have a mini fridge) decor a bit dated

The staff alone gives me reason to repeat my stay at this location. The night staff my goodness I can’t remember his name but he was efficient and checked us in quickly.. we came back down for the pool and he was a bit more talkative great personality and wonderful customer service. The day manager he was equally amazing and very accommodating. Lastly the brunch service customer service was top tier and everyone felt like family. Although I wish breakfast was included in the stay. Parking was sufficient and the location was just what we needed to be centrally located for access to all our family. We will be back!!

Won’t stay again!

Well the hotel looked nice I was disappointed in the service. The bartender was very rude and uninviting. Also, we arrived on a Friday night hoping to grab dinner at the restaurant only to find out it was closed because they didn’t have a server. We had to eat at a table by the bar. The bar was full of people not staying at the hotel and very loud and obnoxious. So we didn’t stay down there too long. Food was ok but over priced. I’m from Chicago and was charged $20 for a cosmo! I don’t even pay that here. I would not recommend the restaurant or bar just based off price. Room was ok. Floors were not very clean and shower wouldn’t drain due to hair build up under the cover over the drain. We lifted it and saw and were really grossed out. We didn’t get to use the pool it was always full and loud. Over all stay was ok but we won’t be staying here again and we come to Michigan often to visit family.

I like the receptionist, they were very helpful and polite. I like how close the hotel was close to restaurants and shopping. I liked that the hotel has hardwood floors. I didn't like how I wasn't able to fin a Ice machine and come to find out it was broken. Also was frustrating hearing kiks running up and down the hallway 12 in the morning, that is frustrating when you are trying to rest at night.
