The long driveway builds great expectation, unfortunately, that’s where it stops. Overall the hotel is in desperate need of a full renovation. I believe I stayed in Woodlands, light bulbs were missing, mould on the windows and significant paint peeled off the bathroom windows. The carpet looked like it needed a thorough deep clean.
The pool area was served by great friendly staff, if only that service was carried over o to the bar area and the breakfast staff. The pool area again, but s in need of a refresh, the roof is in poor condition with lots of rust visible.
The evening meal was mediocre at best, The Hake was turning grey and the service was very inattentive even though the bar area was very quiet.
However, the service from reception from check in and check out was great, just a shame about the rest.

I will definitely not be staying there again. I had bite marks all over, no AC in the rooms, rooms out dated. The breakfast is basic for what you pay for, and had to pay extra for anything I wanted, like poached eggs.

It was an horrible experience, the hotel needs a refurb or shutting down.

The hotel feels like it must have been quite fancy about 20 years ago, but is now very tired and in need of some renovation and updating. There were also few members of staff - eg on our first evening the main restaurant was empty and no one was there to take orders, despite officially being open; no one was at reception most of the times we went there for help; and a single barman worked in the bar area which meant things were very slow.

They have signs advertising spa days at the pool, but it very much felt like a municipal pool rather than somewhere you'd go to relax. The gents shower head was literally hanging off the wall, changing room doors were propped open with chairs. Hardly a spa-like feel!

Breakfast was fairly cheap and poor quality and we didn't bother with the included breakfast the second morning. The good served in the bar was fairly poor quality too. I don't think I've had a worse meal in a hotel than the \"Scottish wagyu\" burger, which was a very small, shrivelled puck of dry meat. Service was also awful with the kitchen sending out one meal 15 minutes before the others, and the salad served with my burger being literally hot from sitting under a heatlamp. For the prices charged I was astonished at the lack of care.

The rooms were a good size, staff friendly, grounds very attractive. But I will never stay there again

Very tired hotel. Tv didn’t work in the room, the shower leaked onto the floor, the breakfast buffet(although the food was delicious) was a bit of a sad affair and it was often difficult to find a member of staff which made us feel like a bit of an inconvenience at times. The swimming pool was adequate but again the staff insisted that we only took one towel per person. Just lacked class at times!

The room was lovely, the whole of the hotel could do with updating, the restaurant was too dark, especially it was all black furniture and black coverings. The pool was a delight nice and clean, but the locker room could do with updating.
The food was ok, we ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. All in all had a nice one night stay, would stay again.

Late Saturday afternoon, after checking in, we walked our dog in the lovely grounds and decided to stop for a drink before returning to our room. The outside patio tables and the inside bar were piled with dirty glasses and plates. No staff around to clear anything away. One barman coping with customers. We sat outside with our drinks for over half an hour (other guests were also there) and although the barman brought out drinks to another table, nothing got cleared away.
Our room was disabled friendly, but accessed by steps and several fire doors (we did not request or need a disabled room, this is just an observation).
Although the bedroom doors are fitted with soft closers, they still need a firm pull to fully shut, and the noise from the doors slamming closed was dusturbing during the early hours of the night.

The area is beatiful and secluded, nice for a walk, and large green to relax and for kids to play. Nice reception area with seating to relax as well. Staff very polite and accomodating. A big thank you to Victor who went the extra mile to make our stay even better.
Had a wonderful massage at the spa, kids loved the pool. Would be nicer to have more seating outside to enjoy the grounds.

Inside this hotel, it is very outdated. The room I stayed in was dirty, marks all over the walls and ceilings. I tried to avoid being in the room if I could. The staff were okay - when I checked in - I was not told about WIFI code, restaurant opening hours, gym etc. I later then discovered when I asked - there was a A4 document he should've given me. I eat in the bar as was told restaurant would be busy even though it was empty. I would not be going there again. Advertisement is misleading - is it really Glasgow??

Couple stayed the one night, B&B, used the gym, pool and sauna, all good with that.
Had an evening meal, which to be fair was pretty expensive, tasty enough but not decent size portions for the price, plus no vegetables included.
Breakfast was worthwhile, enjoyed that.
Room was a good size, bathroom was adequate, all in all nice clean hotel, no complaints, just a bit expensive for evening meal and drinks.

I usually really enjoy staying here. Unfortunately now, I won’t return. There was no WIFI, not for everyone, just for me (this was no fault of my own, I had 2 devices which I even took to a nearby restaurant to prove to hotel staff they were not both faulty…not that this made any difference.) I was on my own and there was no 4g or phone reception in the room, which I would have settled for, even though the WiFi should be provided for EVERYONE. There was not even an in room phone, I could not contact anyone. Only by wandering the hotel to get a good enough reception to send an odd text. And I was lucky if I managed to do this. Some staff were very helpful, others, I felt were blaming me or did not care as it was only me. I did not get to do anything else here (not even sleep) for constantly trying to fix the problem, go to reception, wait on non existing updates or waiting for a certain amount of time until it was (not) to be fixed, searching for phone reception, unpacking and packing again. The problem was fixed maybe 30 hours after my arrival, all of which I felt distressed and upset. I expected the WiFi may be fixed around that time (Friday evening, after other new guests had checked in for the weekend to find they could not access the WiFi) which made me feel even worse as it was clear a returning guest (me) was not relevant enough to call in the tech team, which I thought was required. I left on day 2 of 4. I did not receive a proper apology or any compensation.

I visit this hotel often for solo breaks to de-stress and relax. As I spend a lot of time in the room itself, I opt for the family room as it is more spacious and situated better for more light and nicer outlook from the windows. The check in staff are lovely. One receptionist in particular who recognises me from previous visits is very friendly, she is extra helpful and chats with me if she is free to, answering any queries I have and making me feel at ease and welcome. I make good use of the gym and pool area, which is equipped with a sauna and steam room. Changing rooms and showers are adequate and you are provided with robe and slippers in the room which I use both while in, or walking to/from the spa area. I have never opted for any treatments, but these are available at extra costs. I do not find the gym and pool staff to be as friendly as the reception or house-keeping team. Sometimes I feel a little awkward and they are busy talking amongst themselves or do not go out their way to explain anything they would be helpful to know. I always have to ask about certain things. The hotel itself isn’t the most modern, although clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are up to date. I prefer this over modernised, minimalistic hotels. I feel more comfortable here as it has a real ‘classic hotel vibe’ which personally makes it more appealing than the modern style, busy hotels with small, barely decorated rooms and where staff are never seen. I really like it here.

Shower room, no heating, shower screen had no lower seal so water leaked onto floor. Toilet seat not fitted properly.
Carpet in bedroom area totally uneven, like the underlay or floorboards were damaged.
Asked for more milk cartons at reception during the evening as there was only 2 provided in room and was told they didn’t have access to any more. Was offered a glass of milk from the bar but hardly suitable to keep in room overnight.

I have been staying here for many years and it’s so sad to see it going downhill, the building is beautiful, grounds stunning, spa and gym very good, but the quality is slipping so much, the restaurant atmosphere is tense and unwelcoming, rooms so cold even though the small electric panel radiator is on full, bathroom no heading at all even though switched on no power
This place is livery and so much potential, the staff need energy and confidence from management you can see they are young and nervous, confidence comes from the top

Heat the rooms, I know it’s expensive but comfort is key to a good stay

I paid for a suit, it was the same room I have stayed in so many times before, very basic

Don’t spend more money on EV chargers spend it on heating and training, the place deserves it

Check in was poor, no information provided about breakfast, restaurants or anything other than the room number! No staff to help with luggage. The website said afternoon tea was available but when we returned to reception to ask she said she didn’t know if there was any food available (4.30pm) and advised us to go to the restaurant. The restaurant was empty, not a single member of staff to be found. Waited ten minutes then gave up and left the hotel to eat. Room was fine, dated but comfortable enough and the pool is nice, but bathroom in the room needs a good clean, plus broken plug and the showers at the pool are poor. Overall this hotel is absolutely not 4 stars and I’m shocked it has this rating. I’d consider it 2 stars

Overall, a pleasant stay whilst in town on business. Pool and gym are very useful and adequate. Customer service is as expected. Wifi signal is poor and requires major revision, barely working at the best of times. Expect to hot spot from your phone, with your phone on the window cill if you need to work from your room. The bed is super comfy, great nights sleep! Bathroom is a tad battered and decor is dated however shower is brilliant and absolutely makes up for the cracked tiles. Ceilings in areas are peeling with plaster skim visible in various locations. Ceiling in pool requires attention with paint flaking from the metal roof framework and underside of roof. TVs have HDMI inputs for connectivity which is a major bonus if you have a console or firestick.

Stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary having been married in the hotel 8 years ago.
Still a great place to visit, some areas are a little tired and would benefit from some TLC but on the whole we had a great 3 night stay.
Bar service was great, comfortable setting. Fantastic grounds. Great pool and spa.
Restaurant great food, a little pricey but can’t complain too much.
Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The hotel has a lovely drive and gardens as you approach. The hotel bedrooms are very dated and worn, we had to have our room moved due to a constant buzzing noise from hotel kitchen. Staff are lovely but until the hotel was refurbished we would not stay again. Worn carpets, curtains and broken tiles in the bathroom in both of the rooms we tried. Corridors also need some new decoration. The food was OK, we ate in the bar area as the dinning room looked a lonely place with only 1 other table eating. Breakfast was nice. Spa was OK, we did not stay long in the pool as there was a kids swimming lesson on and with the roped off area it was too busy to properly swim. Sauna was good but the steam room lacked steam. Easy to park.

This property is still serving the 1970s in terms of decor and feel

Although the rooms sre clean and tidy, you find yourself in a time warp

There are no 3 pin bed sockets and when yoh have power ut doesn't work - no electrical socket power including USB

The restaurant has a limited choice and unfortunately the menu is uninspiring. The bar and the restaurant shut before 8.30pm

Never tried the Spa or pool as didnt have time.....

The booking didnt live up to the billing I'm afraid. We wont hurry back.....

We were there 20 years ago and the hotel was amazing food service really busy atmosphere was great, attention to detail brilliant, that was for our honeymoon , we went back 10 years later for our anniversary it was good and busy but not near as good as the first time,this time the staff were not well trained, the menu was limited, the first night we had to have our meal in the cocktail bar as 2 staff members were off, it was busy and frantic my prawn cocktail was very poor , the breakfasts were good and second night in dlnnlng room food was good but limited choice and no atmosphere, overall it is hard to believe how a hotel 20 years ago was so good and has gone down hill so badly we were planning going back for our 25th and maybe staying a week but that will not happen now and we will never visit any macdonald hotels again.

Stayed at crutherland a few times now, always enjoyed it, kids love the pool, was disappointing not to receive robes which we always have before, after asking if any available we were told we would have to be charged which i said ok so we would have them for the pool and walking to and from the room to the pool, even after agreeing to pay we were then told there was none available in the full hotel so this put a little dampener on our trip, especially since i had to wait for quite a while as someone was away checking everywhere for them, apart from this we enjoyed our stay and breakfast was nice.

Normally as i have stayed here on numerous occasions it has been really good, this time unfortunately it was a disaster. From being given what could only be described as a box cupboard for a room, no hot water so i had to have a freezing cold shower in the morning to being overcharged for my evening meal, which to be fair they refunded me.
When i complained i just felt they were trying to brush it under the carpet, to a point of i will not be putting this as a first choice of hotel in the future.
What makes it more annoying is that every other time it has been really good but it fell well below what i would expect for a 4 star hotel.

It was welcoming upon arrival, staff were
Friendly, processional and accommodating. Even asked if I needed help with my luggage taken to the room!
Room was great. Modern, clean and comfy.
Went down to restaurant and again all staff were pleasant and nothing was an issue. Food was amazing and not overly priced. I went for the soup and smash burger. Probably one of the best burgers I’ve had.

It’s worth noting that the breakfast was advertised at £22 when booking so declined offer. Arrived and upon check in, breakfast was £12.00?

What could be better was a better TV in room and being able to pay with American Express.

I brought my elderly mum who doesnt handle stairs well. They have a lift but there are still stairs to negotiate. Pool closes early. Looks old and creaky inside.

Nice historic hotel. Would recommend staying in a room in the original building. Felt like they were trying to cut too many corners to be called a spa resort.

The grounds were beautiful & reception staff were really nice. Room seriously needs updating. Old furniture, carpet & wallpaper coming away from the walls. Room service was great, all except 8 phone calls before anyone answered to take my order. Didnt get a chance to use the facilities, im assuming the pool & sauna etc will be kept to a decent standard. Wouldnt book again unless the rooms were rubbed out & dtarted again.

Some of the staff were not friendly and welcoming. There were black moulds in the room windows and bathroom areas.
The floor was not cleaned and bins not emptied on the second day.
