Room overlooked the Main Street.
There was live entertainment which went on until11pm and could be heard in our room. Then at 11.45pm the front door shutter was heard being pulled down and raised in the morning before we were even out of bed. Finally we were told that breakfast was at 10am having been told by the staff member who booked us in that it was at 9am

Brilliant Hotel

Had a lovely one night stay as a family of 4 at The Commercial Hotel. The room was lovely and very clean with comfy beds and a bath and shower. We also had our evening meal in the hotels restaurant which was also which was very tasty and reasonably priced. I would highly recommended and would definitely stay here again.

The room I was given was on the third floor. No elevator, 42 steps up.
On the first day, I informed the restaurant staff that I required gluten free, which they replied was “no problem”. There were only three items on the menu which could be made gluten free, one of which was breakfast and I was served sausage the first week that contained gluten. I came home sick.

Staff were very kind and helpful. The bar downstairs was a lovely bonus. The only downside was that the hotels.com app had shown breakfast available from 8am, this had not been updated, the new breakfast time was 10am which didnt work for us.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel and rooms are nicely decorated and furnished. The only niggle we had was the creaky, and slightly uneven floor, in our room. But it added a quirky vibe to the experience.

The walls were incredibly thin and our neighbors were incredibly loud very late into the night. The bathroom was tiny and shower leaked. Surrounding area was very industrial and felt unsafe.

One stays here is required to compromise on quite a few things. The street noise finds its way to most rooms, the walls are paper thin, the rooms are minimalist, the continental breakfast is poor, minimalist.
The price to comfort ratio is very weak.

We stayed there for just one night. The room was unexpectedly very spacious and nice. The beds were clean and large. Music from the pub was at acceptable level, not that noisy as mentioned on the reviews. But noise or sound from the next room could be easily heard at midnight and in the early morning. It’s really a matter of give and take.

The family room we had was comfortable, spacious, clean, tidy, and looked lovely. The only issue was that there was mo sound insulation between our room and the room next door, something which wasn’t apparent until the occupants of that room arrived well into the evening after we were already in bed. They may as well have been in the room with us. At the great price that wasn’t too much of an issue. What was an issue was the service in the hotel pub/restaurant. I was completely ignored for long periods whilst yoare waiting for service at the bar

Staff friendly, explained everything got you, rooms beautiful and smelt clean, had a selection of drinks and some biscuits, bed and pillows comfortable. Only issue was that the shower was very slippery and the floor when exiting the shower. Could do with a non slip mat. Would highly recommend it

We enjoyed our stay, the room was perfect for us. It was very clean and had a lovely bathroom however the room needs some tlc, stains on the carpet and the blackout blind wouldn’t pull down this didn’t bother us as we had an early start. Hot chocolate in the room is nice touch. We ate in the bar below and the food was reasonably priced and my steak was awesome. Only had merlot by the bottle though? The staff were all lovely but very busy. The noise of the club below didn’t keep anyone awake and all went silent around 1am. In fact I had the best night sleep in a long time!

For business but a pleasure

I arrived at the hotel, and was immediately welcomed by the General manager, she explained everything 30 to me and booked me in very efficiently, I stayed on a Friday and Saturday, it was quie busy but not rammed full.
I was already fully aware of the adjoining pub and nightclub and I made full use of them both!!
The music was a bit loud in the hotel room but not excessive and I couldn't hear it after 1am.
The room itself was very comfortable, the shower was nice and warm, there was a large enough towel for a big 6ft 1in bloke (some places use v small towels!!) And also a decent sized TV

The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and eager to please, the food was very nice and also reasonably priced.

All in all I would definitely recommend it and I would stay there again.

Could have been a better experience

The rooms are of decent standard, clean and comfortable. We noted that there was a nightclub at the hotel but requested the quietest room as possible. As we were a party of 6, 3 got moved to one of the hotels flats across the road which was appreciated. The manager asked the lady that was sorting the rooms for us if Room 11 was free as that was the quietest room and would be best suited to us. The lady replied 'no it’s taken I have assigned room 6.'
I can sleep through most things but room 6 is like being in the actual nightclub. Do not stay in room 6 from Thur-Sunday. At 1230am when one of us complained for the third time funnily enough Room 11 was now available and we were moved. Room 11 is very much quieter, can’t understand why when the manager asked the lady did not put us there in the first place. If this would of happened in the first place this would have been a whole better experience for both us and the staff at The Commercial.

The rooms are spacious and well-presented & the staff were exceptional. Unfortunately there is a nightclub associated with the hotel! I was told about this at check in, but at that point there isn’t much a person can do. We returned to the hotel approx 10pm & it was IMPOSSIBLE to sleep in the room due to noise from the club! I phoned Reception & was moved to another room quite swiftly by a very helpful member of staff. Unfortunately the noise & inconvenience of having to move to another room late at night with a toddler marred our experience.

A warm and friendly welcome awaits guests

We were at a wedding in the area and booked The Commercial which was local enough to where the wedding was taking place.
We stayed 2 nights. Arriving late on Wednesday night 15/8/18 we were greeted by Marissa and Lauren who were so pleasant at such a late hour we felt from the start that we had made a good choice. Service at the Hotel was 5* all the way. It is not a 5* Hotel but we honestly feel we got 5* treatment here. Not one of the staff is unpleasant. They cannot do enough to help you. Although we only had breakfast here we would certainly recommend the food. It was an excellently presented, hot, full breakfast served by efficient staff all supervised by Manager Adele who also gave off that warm friendly charm as did all the staff here. The Manager, staff and service have prompted us to take time out here in the future. A big thank you to you all for making our stay so pleasant.

Lovely Hotel if you like a disco

Check in in the bar, could hardly be heard over the music. When we arrived some one was having a pint at the check in so stood looking stupid for a bit till the man having a pint asked were we checking in and got someone. After that, staff lovely, room lovely, position central, but for god's sake do not have room 6 on a Saturday night, it was like having a the party in your room. Room was a bit warm but could not open the window because that just escalated the noise. Note to owner, either rent that room very cheap or very expensive, cheap for lack of sleep, expensive if someone wants their own private disco space!

Stay after Ed Sheeran concert. Very noisy from nightclub on Saturday night...but would have been ok apart from a drunk partygoer who was shouting outside our room door at 2am. Woke us all up....

Chose this hotel to be near a family get together
Room was at top of building (room 8) - floor sloped and was uneven
When we returned to our room later in the evening we were met with the sound of a nightclub just through the wall - we could hear every beat
It wasn’t a good night sleep with the noise of the nightclub although my parents were in room 2 and did not hear a thing
Breakfast was lovely though - one of the best I have had to be honest

Clean friendly place to stay.

This is a pub that has been modernised throughout, very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are not spacious but perfectly adequate. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I am cealiac and this was no problem, gluten free bread available which has not been the case in 'posher' hotels..
