Never again! Where did Rosie go...?

We tried to check in having been on the road for hours and the odd lady on the check in desk (Rosie) was very strange. She muttered to herself a lot and eventually, mid check in, wandered off for a while saying she needed to do something. This seemed to be about labels for me keys as she came back and sellotaped a number to the key (the number was already etched on it). She was quite pointless and took loads of time checking us in. The room was old, badly maintained and dirty. We would never stay with this chain again.

Not a good experience

The Check in process was good and without fault. The 2 rooms we had were another matter. The actual bedrooms were ok for an overnight stay, a bit in need of a touch of paint and a little refurbishment. The bathrooms on the other hand were abysmal.
Loose toilet seat, broken door catch, broken tiles, badly stained grout, rusty toilet roll holders, the list is endless. As we were only there for the one night we put up with all that. Then to add insult to injury when my wife plugged the fitted hair dryer in, the plug blew up as she switched it on at the wall. I think this issue had been reported before but not fixed as there was a spare hair dryer on top of the wardrobe already. When we went to check out I pressed the bell at reception only to be ignored by the staff who were on the other side of the shutter. I knew she was in the office as I had see her through the office windows when I was put bags in the car. After knocking on the shutter the receptionist appeared. I informed her about the blown plug which was a danger to anyone who followed us into the room. I also informed her that there were many problems with the bathrooms. She apologised but didn’t seem too bothered about anything. Give some positives, the Towels were large and clean, the bed linen was clean. The room was dog friendly. Would I use this hotel again?. Even at £102.00 for the night, not a chance.

Don’t stay here. Please look elsewhere. It is in desperate need of cleaning and refurbishment. The room carpet was filthy, with caked-in stains. The mattresses were probably older than me, sinking each time you moved. The bathroom smelled bad and no one cleaned the room. The doors were creaky, you could hear guests in the next room and from the car park. Not a pleasant night’s sleep at all. The plug sockets were actually dangerous.

The property is in need of refurbishment. Dirty walls in the room, broken toilet,rusty shower. Towels were all stained and no washing liquid in the bottle. Bed linen was clean but the room had a specific smell of old not in the good way. The check in was fast and the staff smiling and helpful. Noise from the motorway and you can here everything that happens on the hallway

Good friendly check in. Everything explained. Very clean room with lots of space. Very clean bed linen over a very comfotable bed.

Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a country park if you fancy a mooch around.
With the property being in the M74 service area it can get a bit noisy with wagons comming and going.

We had a problem with your booking system we styated that we needed a downfloor room as there was no lift and i was unable to walk upstairs.When we arrived he said we were booked in for an upstairs room.I found this very stressful as i had phoned up before hand to check that we were downstairs. However the very helpful gentleman on reception sorted it out and we were able to stay.

It made me sick i have asthma and the room was full of house mite. A live wire hanging in the bathroom skirting board hanging off,the bin in the bathroom was not emoted my 8 year old boy has autism and put his hands in and emptied it of a tampon rapper and used smelly baby wipes, I complained about it and was given £20 in food vouchers and an apology ,however the dust was everywhere I used about a weeks worth of ventolin over night triggered by house-mite dust so I decided to leave in the morning instead of staying for the 2 days ,and getting a refund but it was a Sunday and the hotel only has a cleaning lady but her English wasn’t very good,no staff on Sunday until 3pm she said,she had no access to the office and couldn’t contact anyone, so I couldn’t get a refund ,

Ok for the money

Cheap and basic hotel that is in need of a refurbishment. Arrived later than planned as motoway junction was closed and its not obvious how to get into a motorway service station where this place is when the motorway itself is shut ! Reception guy was friendly and efficient as he could be at midnight. Room was very worn inc dents and marks and wall and stains on chair seat. Ironically they scan a credut card at checkin to cover any damage caused. Bathroom was tatty and worn, but functional. No noise disturbance overnight and noone at reception to discuss how to get the 25% discount at adjoing Costa and McD’s as mentioned in booking

Ample for the money

I have stayed here before about 3 years ago. And I have to say, it’s gone downhill a little.
The receptionist was lovely. Very pleasant, but didn’t explain about the 25% off voucher we could have got for McDonalds.

The room was quite tired and the carpets need a damn good clean. But the bedding was clean and the shower was hot and powerful.

Parking is a plenty as it’s a service station, remember to put your reg number in or you’ll be fined.

It is quite noisy as it’s a 24hr site. So bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

It’s ok for a one night stop off, which would be the norm I would suspect. But it’s not a place for any length of time.

The only food choices are Maccies which I believe is 24hours, and a Costa which opened at about 8:30am.

As I said. It’s ok for a stop off ….

Disrespectful cleaning staff!!

Stay at hotel regularly. Checked in yesterday and spoke to gentleman on reception and requested late check out. Gentleman advised yes and had booked us untill 12:30 today. Verrrrrry rude cleaner banged on door at 11:15am telling me I had to leave as she had to clean. Explained that I had late booking and booked with reception. Still continued to be rude and told us to leave. Told us we had to get ready and go. Went to reception and pressed buzzer to complain and she came round the corner smirking and told me no reception available till 3 and made me very uncomfortable. Asked how I contacted a proper receptionist as this was an agreed booking and she laughed and said come back to hotel at 3pm and let me clean. Verrry disappointed as I genuinely like this hotel and use almost every weekend. Disrespectful cleaning staff that find it acceptable to be rude and smirk is not the cleaning staff you want to be working around paying guests!

Bad matteress, dangerous plug socket

As a whole the hotel was okay it was clean and tidy. However I stayed for 3 nights and could barley sleep the matteress was well and truly destroyed the springs dug in and you sank straight to the divan base. One of the plug sockets was broken and didn't hold the plug in making it spark when you plug something in. The shower head was full of limescale and there was no towel rack.

Stayed in a family room when we needed a stopover near Glasgow at short notice. The hotel is no frills, but the room was warm, the beds were comfortable, the wifi was free and the staff were friendly. The decor was tired and other than the service station there is no catering available. This is perfect if you want a basic, comfortable place to stay. You get what you pay for. Would book again

I’ve stayed in bad hotels but this beats them all.

Staff were friendly but hotel was very poor. The place is completely run down and dirty. Green slime growing around headboard. Black mould in bathroom. Toilet doesn’t flush properly. Sink surround damaged and dirty.
Desk surface was sticky, I dread to think with what.
No food available in hotel at all, I was directed to McDonalds next door or Costa (which closes at 6:00pm).
Next morning when I was leaving, reception was shuttered so nobody to give feedback to.
Very poor hotel. Better to sleep in your car.

Easily the worst experience I have had having stayed at dozens of hotels around the world (I travel a lot for work). The rooms were unclean and unhygienic, the staff was unfriendly, and the facilities were lacking or broken. I had to apologize to my family for putting them through the ordeal of staying here.

One room had no fitted toilet seat.
Only 2 sockets per room so had to unplug mobile to dry hair - hairdryer was useless.
Rooms too hot and A/C not working.

Convenient stop-off

We stopped off to break a 500 mile drive to the north of Scotland. The hotel was satisfactory for this purpose. The hairdryer was broken but there were no staff around to provide a replacement. Overall, is was convenient and if we were to make this trip again, it provided an overnight stay.

Not worth the money

I picked this hotel as it was central to where I needed to be for working. When I arrived after a long journey, check in was slow. I stayed for 2 nights. The wifi did not work the whole time I was there, which meant I could not work once I had finished the job I was on. The bathroom was horrible, didn't feel nice at all and was so old and marked. Went to wash my hair and the shampoo was completely empty which I only found out once I was already in the shower... Hairdryer smelt like it was burning and again was so old. It did singe my hair so stopped using it. The room was okay, beds were fine. Hallway smelt of weed. As a lone female traveller, I didn't feel great about being here if I'm honest, which is a feeling I haven't experienced before.
I wouldn't have minded but for £213 for 2 nights (£107 per night) I would have expected it to be a bit nicer, but even the basics weren't there. If I'd had paid £60 a night, I would have accepted it all, but not at the cost I paid. Not okay. Sadly means I wouldn't go back, which is a shame because I work away a lot, and having an electric car I often stay in hotels at services for ease of charging.

Awful nights sleep. Doors banging all night, just come from a similar hotel who thought enough of guests to fit soft closers. Right through to the early hours jut nodding off and bang. As for cleanliness. Took a photo but cant upload of funny sign that says cutlery goes in dishwasher beside the filthiest tea spoon you could find, luckily I stopped short of putting it in my hot Chocolate drink tub or the lot would've gone in the bin. Awful.

Ideal quick stop over

The stay was perfect for what we needed, which was a quick overnight stay on our way further north the following morning. The hotel is basic, but clean, although a little dated in the bathroom with a couple of cracked tiles etc. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was a little bit noisy due to the lorries going past the back but closing the room window blocked out most of this noise. We definitely stay again if repeating the same journey

Bed was broken and small in size. It provided no support whatsoever and we constantly felt like we were falling off it. Most lights didn’t work. Wall had excessive damage. When opening the tap for the sink was always soaked from stomach to feet. Needs a big renovation.

The property needs to be fixed up. There was tape on shower head but that didn’t stop water spraying out the side. There was dry blood under the strip of clothe at the end of the bed. There was no little fridge and the bed we’re very very soft.
But Kayleigh the receptionist was very helpful and delightful.

We werr worried walking up the stairs as the carpet was ripped and plaster and paint coming of the walls. We got to room 19 top of the stairs although there was a lock it looked as though someone had broken in The staff especially Rosie were fantastic and tried their upmost to keep the place clean and tidy but it was a very tired building.

Was not happy about the stay, that’s the second time I have stayed the first time was lovely this time it wasn’t we went to open the door from the inside and the door handle fell off just was not up to my standards at all.
