Homely and nice
Homely family run hotel in its 40th year. Traditional rooms, but very nice. Rooms 2 and 5 are the ones to go for it you get the opportunity. Book early! The hotel sells out fast.

Always A Great Stay!
I always have a great time at the Orchard Park. This is a small hotel with just 8 rooms but there is a very personal touch and all the staff are very friendly and eager to help. This includes taking your suitcase up the grand staircase (since there is no lift). You do need to book early. And if possible they will always assign you a room of your choice. My personal favourite is room 2 for the superb views it affords up and down Fenwick Road and Maryville Avenue.

Nice hotel but set just off the main road so quite noisy. It’s a bar and grill with rooms but room was nice and comfortable. Good shower over a jacuzzi bath. Food was excellent so would possibly stay again but ask for a room at the rear.

The Orchard Park is always a comfortable stay. It may not be the most modern of properties, however the staff are very pleasant and given there are only eight rooms at the hotel securing a room can be a Premium exercise. The hotel is very well located for local facilities, including Giffnock Synagogue and the overall experience is very heimish.

Entering the room was freshly decorated with en-suite bathroom,TV and tea/coffee and biscuits refreshments.
At breakfast we had all day breakfast one ordinary and one vegetarian served by the multi tasking receptionist, the breakfast was excellent.
On checking out the young receptionist was also very friendly.
Now for the negatives, if rectified we would certainly return.
A. Carpets at entrance, grand stairway and upper hall including our room all needs shampooed as they were dirty and tired looking.
B. The bathroom cistern lid was cracked, at the top front of the bath panel required some silicon sealant as it was coming loose from the bath.
C. Emulsioned walls in room and at breakfast area require some touch up painting due to chips and scratches at various locations.
These all require very little attention and yet are all neglected, a couple of hours would sort out such issues by the hotel maintenance staff.
We did enjoy our stay, but could be a lot better. Because of all the above issues, we did not think it was worth £187 for an overnight stay.

Caring staff and comfortable rooms.
Excellent and very comfortable stay as always - the rooms are all individual but I always ask for Room 2 with its vista over the Fenwick Road and if available they always oblige. The staff were also all great. It is a small family run hotel and you can tell they care. Only downside is that it has become a bit pricey compared to previous years.

Good hotel with generously sized room. The bathroom was basic but functional. The breakfast is basic, but it provides a good start. Parking spaces were highly sought after, especially over the weekend as the hotel has a popular bar/ diner attached. Very good connection to motorways if you want to go on day trips in the area. Very good choice if a simple hotel and place to sleep is all you need.

My husband and I stayed at the Orchard for two nights. The bedroom was spotless and the bed linen was very clean and fresh.
The only minor complaint I have is the double room only had one cup, and one towel but staff more than happy to provide a second one.

Sad to have to leave a poor review
Firstly, the positives. The staff were exceptional. The breakfast was great and quality of food was excellent. The room itself was lovely BUT on a main road so traffic noise from early morning till late at night…. Appreciate that’s to be expected and that in itself was not the main problem. The issue was the noise from the bar and functions right below our room. Advised that bar closed at 11.45 but on our second night I had to go to reception after 12.30pm to ask when we were likely to get any sleep. Reception advised he would move them on soon which they did, but then you could hear the staff resetting the room for breakfast. This went on till after 1am. Not good. Parking also an issue. We had to park on the street as no spaces available, none reserved for hotel guests. Room was lovely, but en-suite was tiny. Even the expression’ not enough room to swing a cat’ didn’t apply as there wasn’t even room for a cat. But it was clean and functional.

Very nice room and facilities. Breakfasts were well made and fresh and the staff very pleasant and attentive. The hotel bar was excellent and a popular place for many locals and yet all was quiet in our room. Parking was free but limited and tended to be filled by non-residents visiting the bar.

Room was dirty with dust everywhere. In our room you basically had to straddle the toilet to get in and get the door closed to the bathroom, and had to sit on the toilet at an angle as it goes so close to the wall.
Despite stating a 24 hour front desk, upon our return to the hotel after a wedding at circa 12.45am, the front door was locked. We could hear the staff inside in the bar having a jolly old time, but despite knocking on the door, shouting through the letterbox and pressing the door bell, it took around 5 minutes of standing in the cold and rain before someone came to open the door - without an explanation or apology at all.
To top of the top class customer service, while we we're checking out at around 10.30am we overhead a member of staff on the phone to what I assume is another member of staff, complaining that two guests (our friends) were still in their room and had not checked out and asked the question on the phone \"should I go kick them out?\" - check out is at 11am per the listing. He also complained that there was still 2 people (other friends of ours) still in the breakfast room - considering breakfast is served until 10am I don't think it unreasonable that they still may be enjoying the food and coffee at 10.30am.
It's clear the hotel guests are at the bottom of the pecking order in this place and a clear afterthought.

Very very friendly and welcoming staff! The bar was always buzzing and the breakfast was great! The only downside was that our room (6) was a little small, the bathroom was tiny but functional. Other rooms (1 & 2) are much bigger. We went for a lovely walk in the local area to Rouken Glen Park - it only took 20mins to get there and it was beautiful with its waterfalls and forested parts!

Lovely small family run hotel in Giffnock, just outside Glasgow. Very busy lounge bar and outside seating but plenty of friendly and efficient staff catering for table service. Recently refurbished it is stylish and exceedingly clean. The only downside was the size of the bedroom, but we were quickly moved to a bigger one ( this did mean a much smaller bathroom, but it was fine for our stay). Great breakfasts, which will keep you going all day if you want the full Scottish!! As the only people staying at the Hotel in the week that it had just moved up to level 2, the owners looked after us exceedingly well. I will definitely be staying here again. Janet Wallwork

Overall very happy, the only thing was waking up in the night and the room was a bit hot. Could have opened a window, though, so not an issue. Very clean, freshly painted, nice shower, friendly service at breakfast and check-in/out. The bar closing at 10pm due to Covid helped keep noise down, not sure how it would be if it was open normal times. Have recommended and would stay again.

The staff were always hard to find. Inconsistent information provided (eg breakfast time). Damp patches on the ceiling. Smokers outside meant some cigarette smoke could drift into the room through open windows. Windows needed to be open as the rooms were otherwise too stuffy and hot. It’s a great location for visiting people on the south side of Glasgow. Rooms quite inconsistent in quality.

Hotel claim that rooms have Plasma TV's, if a 15inch TV/DVD from the 90's is your idea of a plasma? and it didnt even work. Receipt for my stay was a piece of paper handwritten, as a business traveller i expect a proper printed receipt.

It had been paid in advance but the person on reception initially insisted we still had to pay. She was quite rude about it but did eventually check again. We arrived for our 1 night stay at around 12.30pm. The welcome from the receptionist was excellent, and very courteous. Our room was ready, and we were taken up to it. The room (No.2) had a very spacious living/sleeping area, but the bathroom was on the small side, although not an issue.
We did not have breakfast, as we were having the day, in the centre of Glasgow, but the eating areas were very clean.

Looks as though the downstairs restaurant and bar were decorated recently food was delicious as was the breakfast(included in the price we paid)...room beds were comfortable the toilet was a bit small..and a bit of noise coming from the kitchen below our room early morning. Would recommend though.

On arrival place was aesthetically appealing, bar looked inviting. Entered Reception and joined a short que waiting to check in, no receptionist to be seen. A gentleman entered building and asked if anyone had been seen, then he proceeded to go and find someone to help us check in. A lady came out and asked if we all wanted to be checked in but then dissapered again until another lady appeared to check us in. The lady asked for our name, grabbed a key quickly reeled off a welcome speech which she'd obviously said a thousand times previously because it was delivered with a monotonous voice and no breath. We proceeded to our room which smelt damp. A brown patch on the ceiling would be presumed the cause. We're quite a chilled couple and thought we'd let it slide because we're only using the room to get ready and sleep in and it's a smallish patch. However through the night the smell got worse which is when we noticed a large part of the wall had become wet with more dampness leading to an uncomfortable nights sleep. Next morning we woke, had a shower. Water pressure wasn't great. Went to make a cup of tea, milk had congealed. Packed up and went to check out. There was a gentleman behind the counter, we mentioned dampness to him. Explained it was a problem and suggested it be sorted asap. The man at reception thanked us for letting him know and said goodbye. There was no apology in sight. We as a couple agreed that it could have been addressed a lot better.
