So, the Ibis budget does what it says on the tin..budget! Don't get me wrong but managed to get a good deal for the 2 nights. However, on entering the room we were slightly surprised. No actual bathroom, more a cupboard with a toilet in it, a separate shower, and a sink in the actual room. Also, basically no furniture. A tiny table space and 4 clothes hangers on a rail from the wall. And no tea/coffee facilities. A bit of noise as we were the first room from the lifts. 1 lift was out of action due to maintenance. We only had dealings with reception, and all fine there. Didn't use any other facilities offered. Glad we had use of the car park next door

Booked a twin room for myself and my teenage son. Showering was a huge issue taking it on turns to turn the opposite was as there isn't a proper bathroom, the sink was in the room them a frosted glass door to a shower cubicle giving no privacy for our type of party. The toilet was in what looked like a cupboard. Had to use to towel over the shower door for a little more privacy cover myself and have my son turn away whilst I took my clothes into the toilet cubicle and dress in there.

The room was the basic which is what you expect really but it was a good standard.
The room was clean and tidy, two single beds were comfortable..
It's a small cubbyhole for the sperate toilet and shower, the sink was in the bedroom.

You need to be friendly with the person you're staying with as there is nowhere for privacy.

The staff were welcoming and friendly.
Great location for the OVO, took about the same time to walk back as it was for a taxi to the venue.

Whole place smells of cigarette smoke and cannabis. Party in the corridor til 3am, staff took no action.

It was freezing cold, the staff couldn’t help me. Switched rooms to see if that would help.., it didn’t. Had to sleep under two blankets. Both rooms were in poor conditions, uncleanable spots. Staff did their best in these bad conditions. 10/10 would not recommend or return.

The rooms were freezing, we asked at reception for a heater only to be told that the fan would eventually blow hot air (which it didn’t) and that they stopped giving heaters to guests after last winter, it was actually warmer outside than inside. And then there was the cleaner who only done half a job she changed bin liner but left the rubbish at the side of the bin.

Gave this a reasonable score on my last stay for 2 nights . This time the hotel was getting refurbished. Had to move room as the banging all day was horrendous. I was Nightshift and got no sleep all day on the first day . The room I moved to didn’t look like the floors had been cleaned and were all marks and scratches. Bed was reasonable and the shower is good . Very basic although functional.

The room 617 was a twin room and was perfect for our needs. Had a gig lined up so 20 mins to venue perfect, on a bus route too. Staff friendly and helpful and knowledge was great. Positives - free parking (no information on the hotel website about entering your car registration number, God knows where, and quite a few parking spaces), free Wi-Fi (a bit slow), breakfast (there wasn't a huge selection, but it was okay), room (enough for two nights; we weren't in it most of the day anyway), bathroom (the shower was separate from the room, the sink in the room, and the toilet were separate), staff (I can't say anything bad), restaurants and a cafe close to the hotel.

‘Budget’ in every way but the price!

If we’d paid budget prices, I wouldn’t have too much to say as the room was clean enough, staff pleasant and breakfast tasty and plentiful. However…. we paid £300+ for 2 nights b&b and this does not represent value for money. The hotel seems to form the upper floors of a multi story car park so it’s fairly grim and bleak. Not a very pleasant entrance - nor very easy to find your way from the car (or maybe that was just us!)
Corridor carpets look filthy. Room was clean but in need of serious TLC: broken shelf under the sink, splatters of ? up the skirting and walls and badly chipped surfaces. Personally we wouldn’t stay here again unless the price WAS budget and we couldn’t get alternative accommodation near the Hydro/Ovo.
