This was a last minute booking to see a gig at the ovo hydro. They overcharged at £162 for a night. The hotel was very run down, bald dirty carpets, curtain pole falling off wall, bed uncomfortable and smelly. En suite was dated and unclean. A 2 star rating is very over exaggerated.

I expected basic board due to what I paid,so that was fine. The problem I had was the room was cold,the radiator wasn't on and l could not get it to work.Also the window could do with replacing and maybe cushion the sides of the bed or make it stable

Great location, minutes away from Kelvingrove park. Buses virtually outside the hotel, great for getting into the centre. Friendly staff and a good value breakfast.

The hotel, however, seemed to be deserted and my room seemed to have been untouched since they've cleaned it after the previous guest left (weeks ago I imagine) - there was a lot of dust, the cups and the spoon were sticky. Other than that it was just a decent quiet hotel.

Smiths Hotel was cheap and cheerful. We were looking for somewhere to get our heads down after a night out in Glasgow and it was perfect for that! Bed was clean, towels were clean and toilet was clean so you can’t really ask for much more for such a fantastic price! Staff were friendly enough with a 24hr reception which would have been handy if we had needed anything during the night (which we didn’t). Vending machine for late night snacks and breakfast included. Would definitely return for a cheap night’s stay!

Decent hotel for price paid.. Breakfast staff very hard working. Don't normally stay in a room that has no on suit. Manager (or owner) rather impolite and barged into my room as I was leaving.. Not sure what his reasons were however I find that rather insulting. As a long time traveller I expect certain standards particularly from senior staff....

Booked this room and then immediately afterward (within 5 min) read on their property description on Expedia that they have a midnight close on checkin with no late arrival option. We had a late flight and I am traveling with my senior citizen mother. I didn’t want to chance having her on the street. Called Expedia and they contacted the hotel a couple of times and asked if we could cancel. They said no, that it was a non refundable reservation and they refused to cancel it. Then I called the hotel and explained my concern. Imagine my delight when I was told that the description on Expedia hadn’t been updated and they indeed had a 24 hour front desk. I told them that was great and we’d be seeing them (as that had been my only concern). We arrived and they had cancelled my reservation and given my room to someone else. The night porter was sweet - he did everything he could considering the rough situation. They only had one room left available and it was a complete shoebox and only had one double bed and no toilet (not even a toilet on our floor!). This was very stressful for my mom as I had booked a triple room with an en-suite. My husband had to sleep on a blanket on the floor. There was a little sink and a broken old television in the room and that’s it. We couldn’t even fit a medium suitcase turned on it’s side through part of the entry way without lifting it up. A terrible first night of our Scotland vacation.

The only decent thing about this place is one of the front desk people. The breakfast was awful to say the least, grease on everything and no flavour to anything. The hot water in the bathroom went of for at least two hours and when we called down to reception to report the problem it took more than an hour for someone to come up and even then he did nothing of any use and had no idea what he was doing. The room was not cleaned before our arrival as a pair of underwear was found behind the bed and was still there after the cleaner had supposed to have been in after our first day of staying. The ensuite room we stayed in was on the top floor meaning a sloped roof which was is only good if you're under 5 feet tall. Double room with two guests we were only given 1 towel and after we went to reception and got another one, when they were changed over the next day we were only left 1 again. Not worth the money I paid. If you can spend am extra £10 to stay somewhere else then I highlight recommend doing so. Budget hotel does not mean budget standards.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was cheap so we weren't expecting luxury. The whole building is quite old and some parts are a bit run down. But it is clean and the staff were excellent! We had a 'shared bathroom' but in reality this was a private bathroom, it just wasn't en suite but across the corridor. The room was completely quiet, no road noise or anything, which I did not expect for Glasgow. The black out curtains were also excellent and completely blocked out ambient street light. Breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked and very quick, with copious amounts of (strong!) filter coffee available. Staff were very attentive and the tiny breakfast room was quite quaint. The only real minus point for me was the shower was really not very good, there was very low pressure. But certainly for an overnight stay we were very happy and would visit again if we were staying over in Glasgow. It's cheaper than the cheap and nasty easy hotel, with lots more bedroom space!

An economical hotel, convenient to transportation, very friendly staff. The Hotel was very clean and accommodating. We had a room with shared bath and the shared bath was very clean. I never had problems accessing it. The breakfast is a cooked to order breakfast and dining room staff was very welcoming. The only problem was WiFi, good at times, other times not so good. Nice large triple room with comfortable beds. The decor & furniture was very old fashioned it was like a throwback to the 70’s. The hotel is dull & needs to be brightened up with a lick of paint & brighter coloured curtains & bed covers. Breakfast was cheap value sausages & bacon and the eggs didn’t have a runny yolk! Staff were polite & helpful.

It was what you'd expect from a budget hotel, but we can't complain. The staff were all lovely and helpful and the room was clean. Our bedroom was small but felt cosy and the bed was comfortable.

My stay at Smiths hotel was a nightmare I was housed in the attic no air con couldnt find the stairs to exit the attic opened a door which turned out to be a fire door it closed behind me and was trapped in staircase that resembled a building site no buzzers to get help so I had to phone 999 to be rescued

Booked a double room ended up with a 3 quarter bed not a full double. Room was like a cupboard. Decor was falling off the walls room stunk had to open window but road outside is very noisey and busy. Whole place is just run down really needs even a fresh coat of paint.

I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel with my family. I and my 3 years old son as well as my 5 years old daughter were bitten by bed bugs. I managed to take pictures and videos of the dead bugs as well as the alive bugs crawling on the bed. Not worth a penny to get bitten by those creatures. So, go ahead and stay somewhere else! Because this is a lawsuit in my opinion!!!

Good location, very handy for the SSE. However the hotel is very dated. The room was very small, the floor was slanted and it was very uncomfortable. My boyfriend found an ant in his cereal at breakfast!
