Be it sightseeing, shopping, sport or business, there are many reasons to check into Glasgow Argyle. Built on a former rice mill, tastefully blends old and new and stands out on the Glasgow skyline close to the River Clyde.

Within a mile of the city center, you can walk to many of Glasgows attractions: George Square, Merchant City and Buchanan Galleries shopping center. Well-placed for the citys amazing nightlife, whether going for a wee dram in a trendy whisky bar, attending a gig at The SSE Hydro or laughing at The Stand Comedy Club.

Glasgow is famous for its warm hospitality, and youll always get a friendly welcome at Glasgow Argyle, no matter what time of day you arrive. With super-comfy beds to sink into in our 141 bedrooms, all with free Wi-Fi, large flat-screen plasma TVs and 24-hour room service.

Our 12 stunning apartments occupy the old mill and feature exposed brickwork, original ornate iron columns and abstract artworks. Some are spread over two storys with beds on a mezzanine level, making them an attractive option for families and business travelers.

Were one of the few hotels in the city center to have a swimming pool and gym, so theres even more reason to stay with us if youre into keeping fit. Whilst we don’t have onsite parking, we do have a guest parking partnership with 2 car parks: Your Parking Space - 12 Washington St, G3 8AZ.

The room was large and well maintained. The staff especially at the front desk, pool and breakfast room were really helpful and polite. The pool was a great touch. However, the pool change rooms could have been cleaner. Judging by the amount of swimming lessons happening late afternoon, coupled with the hotel guest traffic, I suppose it was to be expected.

We travel every 2 weeks, all over UK usually for business this booking was pleasure.

booked standard room with bath & shower over, child who is high functioning autistic needs bath. WAS Allocated accessible room, no space to stand and shower, created all manner of issue for the child. (see pics) & the sink cracked harbouring germs YUCK.

1st room carpet was filthy stank of vomit. (See pics)

Reported to receptionist they DID NOT CLEAN, I was told “I have sprayed air fresheners” YUCK
No cleaning of vomit which could contain Noravirus or any other infectious diseases, just air freshener. Not acceptable.

I demanded a new room. Despite reception advising no rooms available, I pointed out there were Ample rooms available to book online same rooms as I had booked yet double the price…… hence reluctant to change us.

Eventually, given yet another accessible room.

New room Cleanliness was not great. See dust over lamp, video of dust all over mirror. Window sill covered in debris and dust. Child’s bed socks were filthy from walking on carpet. Yuck
Towels had holes in them.

There is NO PARKING. Parking £18 with discount code 3.30pm-11am.

Good breakfast each morning. Bar area nice for a glass of wine, again staff friendly and helpful. Use of pool and sauna a lovely bonus and even managed a wee hour in the pool before check out. Don’t judge a book by its cover! This hotel was recently renovated with a brand new pool and spa. All the rooms were updated and the sleeping arrangements were very comfortable. We wished there was a mini fridge/microwave set up but it wasn’t necessary for our stay in Glasgow anyways. The radiator heat is something to get used to, but once you have it set, it’s great. Staff was incredible, check out was seamless and their restaurant/ bar had a great menu! Thanks for the memories, Argyle!

Anna Maria and Scott were superb on reception, as was Eloise and the staff in the bar and restaurant area. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.

The staff were very helpful and the facilities of the bar/lounge were very good.

The room was spacious with all amenities that were needed and the breakfast was well presented and of a good quality.

The reason for only giving four stars was that unfortunately on the first morning there was no hot water at 8.00 a.m although at 9.00 it was back on.

There was also a boys football team, possibly under 11s, staying and although they were not badly behaved at all because they were all in the pool at the same time it was chaotic and noisy.
Perhaps letting guests know in advance that the team was going to be using the pool at that time would have been helpful. I would then have tried to use the pool at a different time.

The hotel itself is really nice and the room i had was very spacious. The bed was massive and couldn't wait to get in. Here lies the problem, when i pulled back the sheets there was blood on the bottom sheet, not a lot but not mine either. As no-one was at reception, i ended up sleeping on the floor. When I mentioned it as i checked out i was informed they have people who could have changed it, but i wasn't aware. So not an ideal stay. However, that said i would stay again but a full bed check first.

After reading a few negative reviews, my niece and I have no complaints. A warm welcome with tissues at hand for our rainsoaked brows. We werd upgraded to superior rooms, that were excellent. (Her room was huge compared to.mine).
Great food in the restaurant, my fish was a meal on its' own.

the female receptionist asked me a number of questions then stored my luggage and asked me exactly the same questions! The restaurant manager was very kind when we were too late for breakfast and sorted out some pastries for us. Our room furniture was tired and the windows were filthy. Our room cleaner just flung our pajamas and didn't food them or place them nicely on the bed. She did the same with a towel too.

All the staff were friendly & very helpful. I can't say enough great things about them! Good location. The room was a little warm & we could not change the temperature, but they did provide a fan. The mirrors are in odd places. I never liked the Best Western in America, but I would stay in one in Scotland again!

We appreciated the free drinks in lieu of housekeeping. The bar service was great.

We were unhappy that we weren’t told on check-in that breakfast must be rebooked. When we explained this we still had to pay £16 instead of £12. We ate elsewhere on principle.

This property was wonderful! It is located a little far outside the main city centre but you can still walk to most things. The staff are welcoming and helpful by offering early checkin if the rooms were ready (which ours was). I loved the pool, sauna/ steam room and hot tub & the dpa service they have at the hotel was amazing. The hotel restaurant was also very good. We would definitely stay here again & recommend to anyone.

Tour de Force!

Loved my stay at the Argyle when visiting to take part in the Sir Chris Hoy Tour de 4 cycling fundraiser....hotel centrally located and only 4 mins on bike from the Central Rail Station, which was very important the day after the event! lol

Was upgraded to a family room (2 double beds!) so plenty of space in the room, and was also allowed to keep my bike with me in the room, which really helped getting ready for the ride.

The jacuzzi/steam room/pool was a lifeline AFTER the ride.....with a wonderful hour spent in there relaxing my weary body!

Food and drinks were great and the pizza I had certainly helped to re-fuel me....and the pints went down well too!

Perfect nights sleep (no noise) and a lovely breakfast on the Monday to see me off on my return home to Belfast.

Thanks to all at Argyle.....well be staying again on next visit to Glasgow.

ok but aircon did not work

The hotel was reasonable - although a little dated for the price. The fact there was a pool made it worth it. The staff were friendlt too. My only complaint was that the aircon was broken - a fan and a supposed portable air-con unit was provided but these did nothing but recirculate the hot, stuffy air. The windows didnt open so the entire room felt suffocated and made it difficult to sleep. I think for the price, the room needs to come with aircon, espcecially ina 4 star rated hotel.

Loved it, everything was perfect! Swimming pool was lovely, staff so friendly, Glasgow is a great city centre, far more interesting than I was expecting and buzzing with people, about 5 minutes walk away. Our room was huge, perfect for a family of three with plenty of space for kid to play. Breakfast was lovely. Exceptional value for money, really couldn't have asked for any more! Thank you, we will definitely be back, and we want room 611 again please!!!

in the main a great place to stay, just one thing the hotel does not cope when it is hot. my room had a fan that was totally useless and when asked if there was a replacement i was advised no. you cannot open the window it was like a furnace 24/7 I stayed for two nights and under those conditions wouldn't do that again.

A/C didn’t work, room smelled strongly of cigarette (I was pregnant and so nauseous), tried to have a bath but the water ran brown. They advertised that if you didn’t need room service, that they’d offer you a drink downstairs at the bar (we just wanted a pop), but they wouldn’t offer it - whatever terms and conditions are not transparent. Very loud hallways. Decent location though. Told staff I was displeased and showed them a video of the water, they said that’s too bad and really don’t care. So yeah, not coming back here anytime soon.

Disappointing stay

This used to be a lovely hotel. When I arrived I was checked in quickly and went to my room which was roasting. The window didn’t open, and the aircon was reading 27.4C, (It was 16C outside!) but wouldn’t switch on. I called reception who said the hotel aircon had been deactivated but thankfully did offer an alternative room. The new room had a window that opened a fraction and a fan, which did cool the room during the afternoon. However the night was unbearably hot, even with the fan on full.

Leisure facilities were nice enough but everything very basic with no frills or attention to detail. It didn’t really live up to the hotels.com description.

Lovely helpful staff, but hotel needing some upkeep & TLC.
