Melissa in front desk is Superb. She knows how to connect to customer and very personable. She went beyond and above her duty. Even taught us how to use Subway and lend us her Metro Card going to Universal Studio 👍. She deserves recognition and perhaps an increase 😉. Thanks for the card. The LA Athletic Club just became my new favorite place to stay in Los Angeles. It has everything: an updated classic vibe, multiple dining options, fantastic fitness classes, and impressive gym amenities. The covered parking made everything easy, and the room was one of the largest I've ever had in L.A. It was the perfect place for a bestie getaway, close to downtown event area and relaxing spot to have a good visit. The front desk staff was absolutely outstanding. Friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. I'll definitely be back.

I booked this hotel for my husband based on its excellent reviews, but his experience was a total nightmare from start to finish. For a hotel that is supposed to be a destination and not just an airport layover, it failed on every basic level of hospitality.

Here is a breakdown of the issues:

Terrible Security & Check-In: Upon arrival, he was left standing outside ringing the doorbell for 10 minutes before anyone let him in. To make matters worse, his room key card immediately failed to work.

Subpar Room Conditions: The entire wing smelled strongly of mold, the bathroom was gross, and the toilet ran continuously. Furthermore, the hotel's Wi-Fi was so unsecure that his computer’s security settings blocked him from even connecting to it.

Constant Noise Disruption: His room was located directly above the gym facility, and the loud, jarring buzzer from downstairs blasted through the floor constantly.

Abysmal Service & Amenities: There is no coffee provided in the room. When he went down to the 3rd-floor cafe at 9:00 AM on a Friday, there was only a single, overwhelmed employee working the counter.

Uncomfortable Atmosphere: The property has a bizarre, unsettling vibe. On multiple occasions at different times, other guests would board the elevator and immediately start hyperventilating/wheezing, which felt less like a hospitality experience and more like the start of a horror movie.

This place is entirely not worth the trek or the money. Avoid it.

The location is brilliant. It's in the heart of the city centre, but the problem is there are a lot of homeless people all around the city centre. Otherwise, it's a great location to be, and the rooms are reasonably sized. They have a certain old-world charm, but I enjoyed staying there. The breakfast was brilliant.

Rooms are a bit dated. The safe in our room keeps getting into problems and a staff had to come multiple times to fix it. That can be an issue when you need to leave the room.
Otherwise the place is great. Clean. Nice location. Easy parking for a reasonable fee. And wonderful gym.

If you need to be in DTLA, this is a great place to stay. We had a big group and the amenities were great for meeting up to sit with a coffee, a drink or to have a meal. My only complaints are that the bathrooms were dated (although clean) and the rooms were dark (so hard to put makeup on). I would still highly recommend and I would stay there again.

As always, we love our stay at LAAC. Not complaining but would like to point out that the cleaning crew should keep their voices down in the hallway especially in the morning instead of yelling across hallways to talk to co-worker. Maybe they didn't think our rooms are all occupied? We did have a \"do not disturb\" on our door. I am
only letting you know through this platform because I don't know if you would hear about this through the front desk.
The cafe baristas are always so kind and cheerful. It is much appreciated. They are this way even when the line is long!

Loved our stay at LAAC. Very quiet spot with some great history. Entire hotel staff was super nice and helpful. Made use of the gym, basketball court, & sauna Sunday morning after going to a Laker game the night before. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the LA live area downtown. Had a nice breakfast after checkout at the restaurant on the 3rd floor. Will definitely be back! Thanks all!

This is a really special space. Stayed for four nights in March. The gym is incredible and I was happy to be able to book a lane for swimming on two different days in the 8am hour. Enjoyed the novelty of being in such a historic building, and the roof is very cool. Downtown LA is not the nicest, but is very convenient. Everyone who works there is nice and helpful.

I had a really great stay at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The staff were super friendly from the moment I arrived, which made the whole experience feel very welcoming. I also got a free room upgrade, which was such a nice surprise.

One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because of the gym, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The facilities are massive and the gym itself is really good and very functional, with everything you need for a proper workout.

My room had views of Downtown LA which I loved, and the rooftop views were also amazing. It’s such a cool place to just take in the city.

Parking was another big plus, it’s inside the hotel which makes everything super easy. I also booked through Expedia and got a discount, which made the stay even cheaper and totally worth it.

Overall, a really great experience and I would definitely stay here again.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat! The pool, spa, and club were amazing. This is more like a full gym and clubhouse with hotel rooms on top. The sports bar had a surprisingly good Frito pie literally served in a Frito bag. The club area was such a fun place to hang out. This hotel is unique and absolutely worth the visit.

It is a nice building but we were not happy with the cleanliness of the room.

Visible dust on the ceiling in the restrooms tile, and when the curtains were open, you could see all of the dust flying around the space. Very difficult with allergies to bear. You would sit on the bench in front of the bed or move the curtains to open them and watch the dust fly.

While the building and its interior it beautiful, it does need some updates. Tiles in the bathroom had visible black build up in the cracks. Low water pressure with water that hardly was warm, calcium build up on shower head and faucet.
Really rough lighting in the vanity area and the room is dark with the brown walls.

It was unclear what amenities guest had access too and parking was unclear as a hotel guest. We had to google it in order to locate as there were several parking garages near the building.

Beyond Chipotle, there were not any family friendly dining restaurants due to its location in the city.

It would be an idea hotel for solo travel but not idea for families. We wish we would have stayed elsewhere as we ended up having to drive to our families activities and meals.

The staff were lovely, the location great and the facilities excellent. The room was another story. My bedspread was marked and stayed on my bed for both my nights stay ( despite letting them know about it when I first got there), I had to tighten the shower head before it fell off. All the lamps were rattly (loose fittings) and even the chair had loose arms. The furniture was bashed, the walls are marked and taps in the bathroom all loose. Four star hotel with 2 star rooms. Comfortable bed and good food but it really needs a referb or just get someone to go in and tighten everything up and touch up a few bits here and there.

LAAC was hands down the best place we stayed while on our trip and it was all down to the amazing staff. Every single member of the team we encountered was so helpful and friendly, going out of their way to help us and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were also amazing and the use of the basketball court, swimming pool and spa were a huge highlight for us. We will be recommending this hotel to anyone travelling to LA.

This hotel was shockingly iconic. What a treat! The way this place has been preserved, kept up with vintage caricature and antiques throughout. It really is amazing, there is no other place like it I can imagine. The rooms are very comfortable, the bed was great. The bathrooms are a little dated and small, but it has the essentials. Food was actually really reasonable in the hotel honestly. Even my family from a small town says that’s the same price we have back home. There are study rooms that look like a university library. Overall a must see.

LAAC is a great place to stay if you want to experience downtown LA. The amenities were awesome—we loved both the pool and the gym. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Our room was clean and very spacious, which was especially important since we were traveling with two teenage boys. The bathroom was on the smaller side, but I didn’t mind, as it clearly allowed for a larger room overall.
That said, the bathroom is in serious need of updates. The shower, in particular, felt more like something you’d find at a roadside motel or truck stop, which was disappointing compared to the rest of the hotel’s quality.
Overall, we had a great stay; the only real disappointment was the state of the shower.
