There seems to be a communications issue with Hotels.com and all the motels I've stayed at this trip. I don't know what it is. At the Travelodge, my only beef is that the lobby was locked up at 7AM. Good thing there was a coffee maker in the room.

The desk clerk (Male) should not be in hospitality. The most unprofessional clerk I've had to contend with. He showed up, finally after 40 mins after check in (looked really stoned) or at least on something. There is a line outside waiting for check in. He turns up looking confused and unlocks the door. We go in and are standing around. Clerk decides to be very curt and tells a couple of us to go around the corner out of his sight as he has anxiety. I tell the fellow i went to the side with \"Well thats good customer service\". So I immediately get singled out and was threatened to be canceled. Now, my wife and I just drove 600 miles. She is waiting in the car for me. It's warming up and this Joke puts me too the back of the line to show his flex. He didn't even know i told everyone to go ahead of me and apologized to them. Mentioned in the one on one with him, he was military with ptsd. There is more to this story but, I'll wrap it up. At this point I was starting to get a little concerned with his threatening manner. Obviously mental. I will not be back and encourage others to not.

The property is being kept up and the ADA room we were in was recently painted. The bed was comfortable. This is a very basic motel right off the main highway but it was still quiet. There was a refrigerator, TV, microwave and hairdryer. There are several fast food places and quick markets nearby plus it's only a few minutes drive to old town Newport or Nye Beach

Management professionally and quickly rectified a minor snafu upon check-in (a housekeeper called out sick, leaving some rooms still messy). Once moved to a clean room, everything was great - bed was comfortable, bathroom and shower were good. The rooms only have heaters, so we opened the windows for cool air. And, then, in the morning, we noticed the closet area included a column fan for us - oh, well, we'll take the cool sea air any time. Did not even consider the breakfast offered at the hotel - and did not even check it out

The Travelodge in Newport is easy to find as it’s right along 101. But getting into the parking lot feels like a chore as you hold up traffic in any vehicle bigger than a sedan. Our room was right next to the front desk area. And on the bottom floor. We unfortunately rented a room on a hot day. No AC in the room. But for our single overnighter, we were not looking for much. We had a king sized bed. And a fridge. It worked out nicely. Clean too.
