Great value for money !!!

I think overall it was value for the amount of money. HK can be expensive this was in a great location, sure the building on outside was ran down alitte, the shower was small the bed was a little harder than I liked but overall I think it offers great value

very comfortable stay. building is old but the room feels modern and clean. room is still on small side and shower space is really compact with the curtains. you can hear the shower/water sounds from adjacent unit. location is wonderful, however. plenty of food places and shopping within 5-10 min walk nestled between wan chai/causeway bay. mtr/buses also nearby. staff is nice and helpful.

Not for obese people.

If you're fat, you're going to struggle staying here. Then again, if you're fat, you're going to struggle anywhere in Asia. The shower was so small that, if you weigh more than 190lbs, you're going to struggle. Thankfully I have not hit that yet, but I'm getting close.

Also, one of the other guests decided to smoke in a non-smoking hotel, which you could smell in the shower.

The room itself was alright. It's a $50/night in HK, so you can't expect too much. Private bathroom, small desk, had a window that was frosted and unusable. No fridge and the wifi was ok.

Pretty close to some food, fairly close to the MRT/MTR/Metro.

Super convenient, character hotel.

Great place. Small enough to be personal. Location is super convenient. Just a few steps from the Ding ding (tram) which gives fastest way to downtown at the princely sum of HKD2.6. And short walk to a whole host of small, trendy eateries and bars that are gentrifying new WanChai. Small rooftop to sit out in the evenings.
This hotel is super hard to beat....great value for money. In cute rennovated tong lau. Not luxury but convenience and value for money are key in HK.

The hotel is in the middle of Wan Chai which accessible to many facilities and public transport. The MTR Wan Chai Station was just 5 min walk and tram and bus stop were a few steps away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was basic and quite small but clean and comfortable, for two people. Affordable for those who do not want to spend too much on accommodation.

If you get it at a reduced price it is ok.I will not pay over $200Cad./night.
Very noisy but convenient area.Easy transport from airport with bus#11 if you do not want to spend more on MRT/taxi.
Room is very comfortable,especially a big bathroom if you are upgraded.
Night man on duty so is safe.

This place seems converted from a tenement that already had a lift. My check-in and check-out were largely uneventful but listen carefully to how to open the doors. The standard room is large enough for two but too small to operate a laptop. I had no luggage except a bag so the small size posed little problem.

What I like the mot about this place was its location. Very convenient to the MTR, buses and restaurants and shopping areas. Although I wasn’t surprised by how small the room was because after all, it is Hong Kong, I was very impressed by the cleanliness. The bed was quite comfortable as well. Overall I had a very pleasant stay.

My room was upgraded to a bigger room when I arrived because I asked for a queen sized bed. It turned out to be the handicapped accessible room. Lol It was spacious for Hong Kong with a large bathroom. The bathroom could have been cleaner. But overall it was a decent place to stay. Good location, with in walking distance to the Chinese Consulate offices and not far from the MTR.

Good location for solo traveler but...

Location is good, near Wan Chai station. Room is very small, still ok for solo traveler, but if couple, no place to put luggage. Aircon was not working well in the hot summer. Bottled water are charged. Overall, too pricey in my opinion. Only worth if got good discount.

To quote the realtor's axiom: location, location, location. Right in the heart of happening Wanchai, a shopping mecca which somehow doesn't seem to have the frantic overcrowding in Central HK -- and the astronomical price tags. Its great to go dine in the Mandarin hotel's restaurant in Central at HK$1,100 a course, but it's also equally fun to scoff lunch at the unpretentious Queen Victoria in Wanchai's Lockhart Rd where a steak and kidney pie with steaming veggies will set you back $88. The hotel positions itself more or less successfully as a budget boutique hotel, and has the medals and trophies to show for previous year's success in the foyer. Truth to tell it is now a bit shabby round the edges, and you can't swing a cat in the micro rooms. But, hey, this is HK and you have to enter into the spirit. The alternative, eg lux a la the Mandarin can be well over US$400 a night with discount, so saving the bucks in the bank to squander on meals and shopping is a definite plus at a room rate with discount of under $60. I'll definitely go back to the Mandarin for auld lang syne. It's great to indulge in creature comforts and stroke the old ego. But in the meantime, Mingle Place With The Star is cheap, cheerful and convenientl. Oh, and the staff were polite and helpful and the shower was piping hot -- two attributes you can't underestimate in manic-paced, frequently fractious HK. A definite repeater...

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

First of all. This is a NON-refundable hotel. Expedia makes it hard to see this details while you are booking. The last time I booked this hotel it shows 10 or more people are trying to book the last room, which rushed you to place the order. The second I placed the order it showed a much higher fee than listed and the date selected is incorrect. I was trying to be polite about the manager and explained my situation. However both the customer service from Expedia and the manager from the hotel told me the hotel policy said it's a non-refundable hotel. I was staying in a second floor room with all the traffic noise going through the window and a broken A/C. The water in the room is also charged to your bill with no sign explained to you that it was not free. The whole situation I felt was being tricked to place this hotel and you overcharged me for a five-day stay with a lower-end 2 star hotel.

Pros:
-Superb location
-Ease of transport; 3-4 blocks away from Metro stations, 1 block away from tramways, buses from there to almost everywhere within 2-3 blocks (bus to Macau Ferry Terminal departs just in front of the hotel)
-Well, it has everything you need including personal grooming kits, toothbrush, hairdryer, etc except ironing tables.

Cons:
-Dirty. Don't even open the shades, They haven't cleaned anywhere around the windows for decades. You will find dust accumulated in many places. Windows film is falling off.
-They couldn't accommodate the 2 single bed request. Be sure you can fit in a queen size bed because that's what you'll likely get if you're looking for a 2 single bed/queen bed room.
-Room had too many remotes, it gets confusing. Home theater was hissing during all our stay, couldn't find a switch or way to switch it off.

Pity - could easily be made much nicer

They have tried to make this into a boutique hotel but have not quite succeeded. The room was clean enough and the bathroom was nice. However, the general appearance of the hotel when you enter the tiny lobby is awful. It could so easily be made nice and welcoming. Unfortunately there are boxes and bits and pieces all over the place as well as being the storage area for guests' left luggage. Behind the reception desk is just a very untidy mess. It was a great disappointment walking through the front door.
The area is busy and vibrant and I stayed here because I was visiting the convention centre which was a ten minute walk away.
It is a pity because this little hotel could really be made very nice with proper management and very little expense.

Location was great, price was decent, but the overall experience was just OK. The queen-size bed was oddly short -- my feet hung off the end. You expect Hong Kong hotels in this price range to be small, but the shower was almost claustrophobia-inducing with the curtain pulled around (and I'm not a big man).

I was more disappointed by a generally tired-looking room. The wallpaper looked like it had seen better days, and when I checked under the bed as we were leaving I found trash from a previous occupant.

I stayed at another Mingle hotel about eight years ago (Mingle on the Wing), and while the room was comically small, I found it to be in better shape, cleaner, and the shower much more comfortable to use. It's possible that Mingle Place with the Star was equally good when it first opened, but I think it's time for a refresh. I wouldn't rule out staying here again, but I'll certainly consider other options first.

The room was small, but comfortable, which is normal given the fact its in Hong Kong. I have stayed at other hotels in the neighbourhood which were more high class, but too expensive. This hotel was very clean, organised and is centrally located which is very convenient. The only downfall is the walls appeared to be quite thin (we heard the cleaning staff accessing one of the broom closets), however, we never had any issues with noise complaints. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I will for sure be staying here again in the future!

Book this hotel in an emergency, arrive at 7:30, the staff was leaving the hotel but just in time to pass me the key card (no idea what gonna happen if check in after this time). The size of the room is quite small, but it is clean and quiet. location of the hotel is really close to the Jordan MTR,really convenient.

Great small hotel in Wan chai

Rooms are small like Hong Kong rooms are but there are a couple of nice features. The air conditioning system was fantastic with no low limit. Wifi very good. Also had a nice feature on the wake up call - when the wake up time comes you get an automated phone call and all the lights in your room slowly turn on - I thought that was neat. Great for 1 person - two might be a little cramped, but can't beat the location or price. Booking on line was better than the walk in rate.

Location is great and convenient with many shops and restaurants nearby. But the room is quite small. Sometimes you can hear your neighbour unless your turn on your TV very loud. The movies were impressive though, many choices and quite update, so if you would like a relaxing night to stay in, then might be a good choice. Staff is nice, but their language ability need to be improved.

Noisy and uncomfortable with unfriendly staff

There are a couple of hotels with almost similar names. Be careful which one you booked on. One entrance with \"similarly named hotel\" has a small receptionist table manned by an unfriendly and awkwardly unwelcoming female staff. As I walked along the street, there is this \"other similarly named hotel\" that has just a small door leading up a flight of stairs.. which eventually led us down back again to the very same receptionists!!! 2 hotels in 1??? How confusing can it be? It is August. With sweltering hot weather, walking from MTR Wan Chai station is a challenge in itself. Having to climb up staircases (not to mention having to shoulder my heavy luggage on our back) and then going down again which led to the same unwelcoming receptionist, is utterly mindboggling. I had travelled to Hong Kong on many occasions... and yes, I do understand space is a premium. Probably it was sheer \"bad luck\", I was put in a room (on the lowest floor) facing the main street. The earplugs that I brought along couldn't muffle the noise. Try sleeping in a discotheque with an earplug on. Can you? I can't!!! This place is a dump. Spend your money elsewhere. Will I come back and stay here again? You know where my vote goes to... a big fat NO!!!

Altough the room was small (just large enough to fit the bed and a bathroom), it was very clean and the staff was helpful. They held our luggage for us after checkout while we went out for some last minute sightseeing. This hotel is perfect for those like us who just need a comfortable place to sleep.

The rooms are incredibly small, with hardly any place to even put your suitcase. I found glass under the bed when I was looking for my shoe. Other than that the room was fine for a budget & short stay. The Hotel is however in a fabulous central area!

Quite happy with my stay here.

Quite happy with my stay here. The room was clean and well sized, with a wonderful shower room - just the thing after a 12 hour flight. Staff were friendly snd helpful. The hotel was under some refurbishment but everything was clean and tidy. There is 4 flights of stairs before you get to reception, the ever present bellboy is there to take your luggage up, however, this would be an issue for disabled guests.

A very pleasant experience at this hotel, from the warm welcome at reception, and efficient and friendly staff. The room had fast free wifi, surround sound for music and tv, and a huge selection of dvd movies at just the flick of a button. The room was spotlessly clean and is very well designed to make full use of the limited space. The price was ok for the Easter Weekend.
