Great value for money. Very clean. Excellent transport links by subway or tram to wherever you may wish to go in Prague. Very friendly and helpful reception staff, particularly Sona and Daur, who were both more than efficient and happy to help with any query. Comfortable beds and good size rooms. Only minor problem is the lift is small and can only carry 2 people, so at some times of day you may be waiting a while if you dont want to take the stairs. Large choice of food at the buffet breakfast, although the restaurant is small and can be crowded at busy times. If you dont want the hotel breakfast there are several good options close by. Would definitely stay again.

Have stayed here many times, this time forgot to pack my adapter and Lilly at the front desk went out of her way to dig through a bucket of adapters to find the right ones for my laptop and iPhone, very helpful, especially as it was a local holiday and most stores were closed for the day.

City Tax!?

The best part is that they stored my luggage from 8 am to 6 pm with no extra charge. On the other hand I paid 23 KČ as a city tax which should've been included in the total price. Location is great though as it's right at the heart of PRAGUE.

This was a very nice hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. They even remembered my name the next day! It was in a great neighborhood. The room was a little weird- there were many closets and the tub as really deep and I could see how it would be hard to get into it. The bed was really hard and the pillows were not great. But, I would recommend this neighborhood and this area.

I got 2 nice rooms together and I liked that I was on the 4th floor. The rooms are bigger than usual for Prague standards, clean and you can open the windows to make it cooler. No air conditioners there.
It has a tiny elevator good for one person with your suitcase. The door locks from the inside and outside. Toilet and shower are two separate rooms.
I like that it was so close to the yellow Metro station like 3 minutes away. Starbucks is next door, lots of shops and restaurants. I recommend this place if you go to Prague. It’s inexpensive, convenient and does the job well. 👍

Nice enough hotel, but basic. Situated on a noisy street, and you cannot keep your window open at night. There is no air conditioning, but they do provide a fan but neither of us can sleep with a fan on all night - our problem I know. We only had breakfast on one morning which was o.k ish. We chose to try other places. Ideally situated right next to the Metro and there is a very good restaurant immediately next door where we ate one evening. This is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for, which is fair enough. The staff were excellent, very helpful and polite.

Great stay overall. Greeted by friendly stuff and provided upgraded room with no extra cost. Location is decent about 2 km from old town, easy walk along river. Property is dated and needs redecoration but this did not impact our stay. Rooms are clean and there is parking close by although hotel offers parking as well. Breakfast service is far above hotel star level. Big variety of food buffet style lots of healthy options. We loved it. Special touch was bottle of vine for my dad who celebrated 90th birthday. They’ve got it from passport and prepared the gift. Special. I would come again to this place.

Great location! A Metro station sits almost in front of it, easy and fast to reach the old town. I did enjoy the buffet breakfast with some local hot dishes, very tasty. Definitely for the price, it is a bargain. The hotel staff was always courteous... the receptionist even provided me with local change to use in the Metro

The hotel is sober, clean, friendly staff. Warm room, good beds, lots of fresh air if you need it, no noise, Free gym everytime you are in a hurry because the lift is only for 3 people, but it gives you the extra time in which you can relax in fornt of the elevator.

Good for getting to town. Excellent breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful. Room (for 2) actually 'apartment:' with 2 bedrooms, one rather basic (tv did not work). Separate toilet very cramped, shower impossible to use without flooding floor. Quirky small lift. So don't expect luxury, bit between hostel and hotel, but did the job.

Comfortable and quired place.

It was a good location. Subway is just outside the main entrance. It was clean. breakfast was very good. Staffs were very nice. Bath room fixtures were old. WIFI did not work in the room but worked in the lobby.

I did use the mini bar, but the service said I took a beer and wanted to charge me. I said I did not drink. Front desk was very nice and waved the charge.

The sofa at the hotel lobby can't sit.

The path way walking in to hotel was a very scary. We have to press on the button at the gate at the entrance and wait for the hotel staff to open the gate. Then we have to walk about 50m on the dark and scary walk path to reach the hotel on our left hand side. We had a very bad experience during the check in. We arrived early the morning after a midnight bus trip. We knew that it was the check in time yet. We requested the receptionist to allow us to leave our baggage and let us sit on the sofa there for 30 minutes to rest. The rude receptionists then told us that we will disturb other guest. We don’t see that’s a point as we don’t ask for sitting there for few hours. He then chase us out after collecting our luggage. We were extremely angry and disappointed. We stayed in many hotels around the world but we were never being treated this rude before. The location was good , not far from metro , tram , bus .The wifi signal was not stable . The was a public kitchen in this hotel and it was good. Worth for money but we will not back to this hotel again due to the bad service. . Nice hotel close to many nice eating places.

The staffs were very friendly and it is very close to supermarkets and all the eating places. The is a metro station right in front of the hotel. The breakfast was very delicious and variety to choose from.
One thing I wish they improve is to provide free wifi as it costs 4 euro per day to use wifi in the room. Even though it is not a lot but it can add up if you stay there a bit longer. The room was very nice and comfortable.

The hotel is very outdated,as if it's 1930's.

We were booked as a family to stay in the hotel,but unfortunately on the very first night we were moved to a different hotel at midnight.The receptionist apologised and were sent by taxi to a hotel near a highway and funny enough on arrival there were ears plugs on the bed.It was a very disruptive night ,as I was enable to sleep.Overall ,I think the hotel do not care about customers ,they are only interested in making money by hook or crook.Some of their staffs needs a lot of training and should learn who to treat customers and tourists with respect.I won't be going to the Czech Republic again,first and last time and it had been a horrible experience.

We booked in last minute since our previous booking fell through. We showed up to reception at Charles Central and unfortunately hotels.com booked us into a room that didn't exist. We were worried that point as it was Easter weekend and everything seemed to be booked solid. Luckily the receptionist was AMAZING. Not only was she friendly and welcoming, she made a quick call to her sales manager and got us in with their sister hotel which happened to be in the heart of old town! We were extremely pleased at her willingness to help, and gave us a really pleasant experience out of something that could've been pretty horrible. I don't remember her name but through chatting she mentioned she actually had lived in Toronto for a while and was an \"honorary Canadian\".

Best bang for your buck.

I was was surprised at the comfort and room of this hotel. For the price you cant beat the level of comfort and cleanliness that the St. Charles afforded. It was very clean, spacious, and located very close to the city center in Prague. A definite plus is that is literally located next to a Metro (Subway) station. (Kresikova sp? I think). Getting to the city was a breeze due to this. Again it is very nicely priced and very comfortable. I would stay here again under the same circumstances.

Hotel itself was nice enough, solid 3-star material. Only downer on the room was that there was no kettle facilities - if you wanted a tea or coffee, you needed to head to reception.

Staff were fantastic, very helpful on tips, how to get places, where to eat, etc.

The hotel has a sister restaurant next door, an Italian one, with very good food. For £10 you can have a starter and main, and a couple of drinks.

Breakfast in the hotel was fine, a selection of meats, cheeses, cereals, yoghurt, cakes, etc.

When I arrived, the receptionist said they were overbooked so we would be \"upgraded\" to a sister hotel. The \"upgraded\" hotel was filthy and in much worse condition than hotel Charles. Apparently, this is a fairly common technique to generate revenue for other poorly rated hotels.

Disappointing Hotel Experience in Prague

My Hotel Charles experience was very disappointing. Initially excited over our booking at the hotel, my travel girlfriend and I showed up to check-in for our reservation, only to find that we had been re-booked in another hotel (Hotel Jerome - owned by same company); however, we were never given a reason as to why that occurred...my guess is overbooking. Though disappointed, we were assured that the other hotel was also 3-stars and had the same wonderful accommodations. Unfortunately, upon arrival to Hotel Jerome, we found this to be a vast overstatement: it's as if the management company bought a building and just decided to start using it as a hotel without any real plan. The rooms are very simple, and though clean, the room lacked any character and feeling of comfort. The included breakfast was always cold (even the dishes which were supposed to be hot) and as far as directions and recommendations for good restaurants to eat at in Prague, the staff was un-helpful (apparently the best restaurant close to Hotel Jerome is Chinese food...). Overall, disappointing, wouldn't rebook with Hotel Charles because of the experience we had with their staff and the lack of communication regarding our booking considering we initially booked our room there 4 months ago.

Nice cheap hotel close to metro

For the price this hotel is great! It is located right next to a metro stop and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and supermarkets around the block.
The room itself was nice, plenty of room and it had everything you could need except a hairdryer or a jug. The staff were happy to help however and I was able to either borrow a jug or go into the restaurant to get boiling water for cups of tea.
The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but for the price you can't really complain! Some funny noises in the room as well (tapping in the pipes?), and you just have to hope you don't have noisy neighbours ad you can hear outside the room. Quiet street however and I don't recall hearing traffic and wasn't woken up by loud people in the streets below.
Breakfast offered a wide variety of foods and drinks and was very nice :)
The staff were also very happy to help with printing train tickets!

Pleasent stay near to the Prague city center

I have to say my short stay was very pleasant and I really did enjoy the helpfulness and kindness of the personell at the reception. There was especially one young lady called Milica whose help and outstanding attitude id like to point out. Im alwazs happy to deal with professional and positive employees around the world who make my impression not even of the hotel but also the city Im visiting better. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to Prague and is looking for a nice clean hotel near to the center for a good price.

Well the room was not the 409 square feet you stated.The bath was stained.There was no shower curtain,when you got out of shower you stood in a pool of water.When i opened the window there were cig butts on the window sill.In the morning we were awoken at 6.15 by the kitchen staff preparing breakfast.So we booked out and came home.

Worn out carpet, faded yellow wall paint, stiff and squeaky bathroom faucet handles, and a room door that seemed to be constructed of paper mache....these factors made our stay uncomfortable, to say the least. Didn't look like the photos and at the rate we paid, could/should have found a newer, better hotel. Wifi non-existent on upper floors. Upon asking for compensation, front desk offered an extra discount at the restaurant next door, which we accepted, but then the restaurant proceeded to overcharge us for the meal! Made our blood boil and is a bad Prague memory to go along with the good ones. Avoid Hotel Charles.

My wife and I arrived at the hotel from the airport around 8pm, but to our surprise, we were redirected to another hotel for the night. The other hotel was better and the transportation by taxi back and forth was paid for and all, but it was far from an ideal situation. I hear it is not that unheard of for this hotel. We were very tired but the girl at reception was so apologetic and cordial in helping us, it was far from the most unpleasant experience we had in Prague.

Great hip neighbourhood and metro station

Reasonable hotel, close to the city centre, right on the metro and tram stations, simply furnished but clean rooms. Unless you want to spend your holidays in the hotel and its amenities, but searching the city and great hotel neighbourhood Karlin with lots of cafes and restaurants, I can only recommend to stay.

Hotel room itself was acceptable and large, and is on the low end of a 3 star. Breaky ok. Just on the doorstop is Krizikova Station. Outside courtyard generates a bit of noise but nothing compared to the nightly drunk hotel patronage echoing through thin walls, staff was required nightly to shut them up throughout the night, really annoying. Staff were always helpful and local restaurants and grocery stores good.

When booked through Expedia on the 40% off hotels, the rate was for 3 nights (Saturday through Tuesday) and totaled $180.00 including tax. Staying another night became $127 and the next night was $127 as well (Tuesday and Wed.). On Wed. evening the front desk was asked what the rate would be for Thursday, I was told $7000 CZK which is roughly $378. Same room, same amenities. I was not happy but was going to leave on Friday morning. Come checkout time on Friday, the counter staff says it was $9600 CZK for Thursday which is $486. Now how can a room rate go from your low rate (which indeed was a bargain) to 10 times the amount in 3 days? I obviously was terribly upset and angry. The staff was unrelenting in seeing my point and demanded payment.
I would not recommend this hotel due to its impolite staff and the fact that everyone seemed not on the same page and were making it up as they went along. The following Monday, I checked the rate and it was $130 per night. They took advantage of me and I am disputing the charge.

Stayed for seven days to play a chess tournament. It was the 4th cheapest hotel searching by price, so was totally amazed when I arrived to find 3 beds in a really spacious room. Wifi was good too. The breakfast isnt amazing, But more than edible. For the price this is one of the best hotels Ive stayed in.

We were welcomed by Maxim who was always pleasant and seemed to work around the clock.
He made our stay very pleasant along with the rest of the staff.
The breakfast was very enjoyable. The hotel was close enough to all the sights, and the parking lot was right around the corner.

great place

we have been to prague a few times and this was the best hotel we stayed at. the food is good. metro stop right outside the front door. and the staff will do anything to make you feel like you are at home.

Good price

Went with family the room was very large & comfortable quite spacious for a family of 4. Very near to the tram & metro also a fab Italian restaurant next door. However it is quite noisy at night & early morning best to take your ear plugs.

Way below expectation!

Definetly not a three-star hotel! There are two good aspects, breakfast and the location. the rest was way below expected! The room is quite old, the reception is tiny, and you hear ALL TRAINS from the metro going by... Would definitely not stay there again!

Excellent value and great location

Hotel located right in front of subway station and trolley station is just up the street. There are very nice restaurants within a city block. I found the hotel clean, secure, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, and lots of hot water for my daily shower! Only complaint is that the bed was not so comfortable - mattress was about 4 inches thick and laid upon a series of wooden brace boards. Made reservation on Hotels.com. Bottomline - I would stay here again.

Great value for money

We stayed in a family room which was clean and big enough for 5 persons. The bathroom and the toilet were outside our room and shared with another room. However, nobody stayed in the next room, so we did not feel any inconvenience using the bathroom and the toilet. The breakfast was a buffet with a lot to choose from (eggs, sausages, cheeses, vegetables, cornflakes, oatmeal, cakes, fruits). The location is perfect - 1 minute from metro stop, 3 metro stops to Prague's center.

Highly recommended for breakfast alone

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and some spoke very fluent english which was great. So easy to find from the train station - just a few stops on the metro line and youre right on the hotel doorstep. Breakfast buffet blew our minds! Very good rates too

A great place to stay!

It's a good place to stay. Breakfast is just great, long serving time and lots of choices. Great location also, the metro is just within a few SECONDS walk. Hotel room is a basic room and one thing really annoying is that the reception lady told us they have a 30% off deal with the Italian restaurant next doors . But when we finished eating, there is only 10%off. If it weren't because of the discount, we never would have chosen there. So be careful!

Good hotel for students or young travelers.

For the price, this hotel gets the job done. Internet was slow and the shower temperature was difficult to regulate. If your plan is to mostly explore the city and have a bed to sleep in, this hotel would be fine, however, if you are planning on spending long durations of time in the room, I would look elsewhere! Access to the main city center via the metro was incredibly convenient, and the breakfast was sufficient.

8 days in Prague , I'm coming back !!

I stayed at the Charles Central Hotel from Nov 3rd 2012 to Nov 11th 2012 on a vacation trip to Prague.The front desk was exelent, helpful , proactive and polite. The rooms were larger than I expected and the location was excellent. Definitely a great value for the room, free breakfast and location. I would definitely return to the Hotel Charles Central.I spent a great time in this hotel and I very recommend this hotel for everyone who does not like pay too much.The Metro is only a few steps from the front entrance of the hotel .The room was clean and reasonable size, flat screen tv , heating , hot watter ,wifi ,mini bar, fresh towels every day.No communication problem. I definitely recommend it! The way I was treated by all made me feel very happy .
I will return ! Is a good choice for a break..

Trust me, do not stay here....

Arrived at the hotel only to find that they had overbooked and had no rooms for us, 2 hours of arguing later with a member of staff that did not care, led to us having to stay at a hotel miles from the city centre. Thw holw point of booking this hotel was the locality, central to where we wanted to be. We were only there for a long weekend and this was a truly awful start to the holiday. The next day they found us some rooms in the hotel, but they were less than comfortable and not great. Overall would not recommend!
