Construction work ongoing and occurred at 7am on consecutive days, seriously affect the sleep quality. AC on and off sometimes. No checkout counter in the morning so ended up needing to call the staff about the check out

I booked this hotel for my husband so he wouldn’t have to drive three hours early in the morning to catch his flight, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing.

The hotel felt very dirty as soon as he walked in. The overall cleanliness of the place was quite poor, and because of that he felt uncomfortable the entire time he was there. Even after having a shower, he still felt unclean and struggled to sleep because the room just didn’t feel hygienic.

Another frustrating part of the stay was the bistro. It was advertised as closing at 9pm, but when he arrived at 8:45pm after travelling 3 hours he was told they were already closed and refused service. After a long day of travel, this was really disappointing.

On top of that, the staff were quite rude and not very helpful when he asked about the bistro or raised concerns. Overall, this was not a pleasant stay and unfortunately not somewhere we would choose again.

Room perfectly clean. Jug too big to be filled except by using glasses. Shower water overflows out over floor so have to adjust water to less volume. Lamp in Room 7 not working. Had to move side tables at bedhead to find power points. Staff excellent, friendly helpful and professional. I felt comfortable and safe. Car parking is possibly an issue when not opened until 10 am. Bistro excellent and available throughout the day.

The blind wouldn’t close fully so it was hard to sleep. I had to wait the 5th day to get them to fix it and then was spoke to rudely and told if I didn’t like it I could have found a new hotel. After being on a 24hr flight and being 90yrs old I think that’s disgraceful, especially the attitude of the manager that day. The room wasn’t cleaned as there was no sign to put on the door to say please clean room, had to take one of another room to get it cleaned. The lamp wasn’t working so I had to ask for someone to change the lightbulb. The luggage rack was broken so my luggage was nearly on the floor it was that low. The draw handle was broken on the desk. And there was no spoon to stir your coffee, milk was only replaced once during stay.

Surprisingly good (once you find it)

Great location, right next to the train station, restaurants and shops, so you can roll out of bed and be on a train or eating something fried in about three minutes flat.

The only real adventure is finding where to check in. There’s no obvious reception area, so you wander around feeling like you’ve snuck into a staff-only zone before discovering that you actually check in at the bar. On the plus side, if check-in is stressful, a drink is only a swivel of the barstool away.

Once you’re past that, the room itself is a very pleasant surprise: nice, large and clean, with enough space that you’re not playing suitcase Tetris. The ironing equipment was a genuinely appreciated touch – perfect if you’ve been living out of a bag and your clothes have developed “permanent fold” status.

The bed was comfortable, the room did what it needed to do, and overall it’s good value for money. If you don’t mind your “reception desk” being a bar counter, it’s a solid and slightly quirky place to stay.

The staff were helpful when we requested a second key card for the room. The room was a good size and the King bed that we was very spacious and comfortable. The room was spotless and there was ample space for clothes, food and it even had a desk and chair. Nice clean and attractive bathroom too. The lift was aalso a great improvement since the last time we came. This is the third time we have stayed here and we will definitely stay here again. Great location and Highly recommended.

It was not possible to eat in the hotel because of the stink of cigarette smoke coming from the gaming room and the verandah.The lift was out of order for most of our stay.

I have stayed at this property several times over several years and previously been very happy. The property has recently extended the hotel adding small rooms (boxes) without windows or a desk. The photos and the booking promote the original rooms.
In summary the room was not as advertised, the nightly rate was excessive for the room provided. It's unfortunate and I will probably no longer stay at this hotel.

The room was newly set up, clean, and quiet even though it was located above a sports bar. The carpet looked brand new and smelled fresh. During our three-night stay, we received excellent room service, with fresh towels provided every day. Overall, it’s an excellent place to stay and especially for couples.
Last but not least, the staff’s instructions were clear, and they were very friendly.

VERY quiet room considering it’s over a pub so good soundproofing with the exception of some random banging every night the 4 nights I stayed there but not loud enough to keep you awake and not all night. Comfortable room, comfortable bed, pretty clean (but I’m a cleaner and def wasn’t to a great standard) super convenient next to the train station, Woolies and places to eat close by. Staff were ok on check in. Would def stay again.

I recently stayed at this hotel. I would like to kindly bring to your attention some issues I encountered during my stay, which unfortunately affected the quality of my experience.

Firstly, the room I was assigned had a strong smell of paint, which I believe was due to its close to an area that had been recently painted. The odor was quite noticeable and made it difficult to relax comfortably in the room.

Secondly, on Saturday morning, there was construction work taking place near my room. The noise started quite early and disrupted my sleep, leaving me feeling exhausted for the entire day, and I believe there is law that limits Saturday construction, which I have informed the worker.

While I understand that maintenance and upgrades are sometimes necessary, I believe it would have been helpful to be informed in advance or offered an alternative room farther from the affected areas.

Given the circumstances, I would like to kindly request a refund for three nights of my stay, as I believe the disturbances significantly impacted my comfort and rest.

Thank you very much for your understanding and attention to this matter. I appreciate your assistance and look forward to hearing from you.

Room has adequate amenities with aircon, refrigerator and hot water jug however lacks a microwave oven.
Although next to a main road the room was very quiet.
Affordable 3 day rate on Hotels.com made the accommodation good value for money.

Very bad experienced in this hotel.

Wake up in the morning at 7.20am no drop of water can be use for toilet, shower, or even brush the teeth, or wash the face. No warning given. Ask someone down stair said water will be in there in 10 minute. By 8.50am still nothing happen, I have a businesses metting at 9.30 am. By force I walk out from my room with out shower, toilet or even brush my teeth. Thank you for treating me like this. No words I can described....

The Kingsgrove Hotel was a great place to stay. I chose it based on some pretty good reviews, plus it had its own ensuite.
Proximity to the Railway station was another considerable advantage, as we were going to the football in Kogarah, it was a 20 minute train ride with a changeover near the airport.
The food at the bistro was great too as well as the selection of drinks on tap.
The rooms are adequately sized for a couple plus the new renovated bathroom was great. They also have parking on site and it’s so easy to get in and out of!!

The most important requirement for my stay was access to public transit and cleanliness, and the hotel met those requirements. The train station just across the street which is a huge plus. There are several eating places in and around the area, Woolworth is just a few meters away. The hotel is working on finishing the elevators until such time one will have to use the stairs, and because of the on going construction work, there is a bit of noise but it did not bother me. Please note that this is a pub hotel, thus there is live music on some days, again none of that noise was a problem for me during my stay. I would certainly stay at this location if I happen to come to Sydney.

Location, location, location

Kingsgrove Hotel is a pub/bistro with refurbished accommodation upstairs. The check in staff was lovely, she was fast and helpful. Room was basic, updated but on the smaller side although perfect for one night and location to airport (the reason I was staying) so convenient. Rain shower was hot, bed was comfortable, aircon and ceiling very handy as.warm summer's day. Although room was soundproofed there was music noise from downstairs until approx. 10.30pm (it was a Saturday night after all) but nothing to worry about. Lots of dining options nearby, plus a big supermarket right across the road. Had to move my car from the dedicated hotel car park due to my early 6am departure, grateful for the notice in the room that advised Kingsgrove's car park closed between 3am-10am. Easy, free street parking at train station opposite. Would definitely recommend staying there for easy train link into Sydney or if needing to be at airport early (international terminal is 8 min drive)

We stayed here for 3 nights having just arrived from the UK. Thankfully we arrived on a Saturday night so the construction work (which we only found out about from a note on our room door) did not disturb a much needed lie in. When it wasn't Sunday though the builders turned up and were banging and drilling, on the Monday from about 6am and 5am on the Tuesday. It is absolutely not on to take bookings (or not inform preexisting bookings) about this significant disruption. We appreciate places need to have work done but it was so loud and so early!
We had a couple of cleanliness issues with the room and the staff were magnificent in dealing with it promptly. They were friendly and could not be more obliging for our whole stay. The issue with construction is not the staffs fault and we feel bad leaving a 3 star review when the staff and location are absolutely 5 star. I think this place has ambitions and I hope once the construction is finished they do extremely well but sadly the amount of disruption was too much for us to ignore in this review. Check it is finished before you book!

Positive: close to transit, although the train station is skipped by express train. Staff are friendly, helpful and available late at night. Restaurants & supermarket across the street. Supplied toiletries were good. Bed, linens and pillows were comfortable. Adequate closet space to store luggage and spread out.
Although it's right by the train station, it's still a struggle to get your luggage to and from the hotel. There are stairs at the hotel entrance as well, and you have to pass by the smoking section. There is no secure area to store your luggage.
Cleaning wasn't good, there were dried stains on the toilet seat. Also the corners of the shower weren't cleaned. The shower unit style means the floor will get drenched.
The window opened to the roof of the building which meant I saw the construction workers walking around outside my window. So I had to keep the blinds down all the time.

I got some catch up sleep at 9am and cleaning sevice tried to burst through my door at 10am sharp, even though I had another hour to checkout apparently.

4:30am demolition with sledgehammer

I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels over the last 10 years and have never left a review good or bad, however in this case it is necessary as it is unacceptable to have very loud demolition work undertaken in the hotel at 4:30am. I was not told on booking or arrival with only a notice on my door mentioning early morning renovation work. 8am would have been acceptable but not 4:30am.

The room itself was very nice, just let down by the disregard for guests peace and quiet. I was banking on a good nights sleep the night of the renovations as I had a 14 hour and 8 hour flight to undertake back home.

Free parking available for the hotel with CCTV, besides there are lots of parking available nearby. Staff are very helpful. Easy checked in and no contact check out. If you need anything, the woolworth just around the corner. Food available in the pub downstairs. Just ensure why no hair dryer in my room… but everything else was good.
