Room was clean, bed comfy but room lacked some basics eg no rubbish bin, no hooks to hang clothing etc. There appeared to be only one toilet/shower servicing the floor i was on, do was a bit busy. Lack of reception area meant dealing with staff over the bar, not ideal. Good value for location but hotel needs to focus more on the accommodation side of things. A lot of thuds after midnight might have been renovations/kegs? Better to choose a time when people aren't trying to sleep.

The accommodation was good & bed very comfortable, bathrooms fine. However what was not good was communication between Wotif and hotel. My Wotif booking confirmed reservation with private bathroom, however on arrival this was not the case, staff said they had not received reservation for room with private bathroom. I would have paid extra on arrival but none available. This was very unsatisfactory and will not lead to forther bookings with Wotif.

Spent an hour at check in waiting for reception to sort out the issue with my room, I paid for an en-suite room but none were available. Ended up with a shared bathroom room, no discussion about the fact I had paid for a room with an en-suite. The staff laid blame on the company I had booked it through.

No one around to speak to when I checked out, the customer service is terrible and the room is pretty average and very noisy.

Don’t stay here unless you have zero other choices.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The building is very old and had a strong unpleasant odor throughout. The soundproofing was nonexistent—I could hear footsteps in the hallway and doors slamming from neighboring rooms. Additionally, the shower and restroom were shared, which made the stay quite inconvenient. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

Ive paid half the price for twice as good pub accommodation elsewhere. No hot water in the private Bathroom, broken fittings, lights weren't working, room smelt stale, no tv remote, limited power points which were painted the same colour as the skirting boards, so hard to find. The only good thing about this hotel is the location to the train station. I wont be back again & dont recommend this place.

I got a room at this place because it was close to qudos stadium for a concert we were atending. Room was on the top floor, no lift. We arrived early from the airport going to be able to check in early, we were denied. The room itself was large, with a bathroom. We chose this room as i didn't want my daughter using a shared bathroom which was the only other option. The pictures used on the website didn't match the room we got, it was old, the beds were uncomfortable and horribly stained, the power points, or lack there of,, two were dangerous, one hanging out of the wall with wires exposed, and one you needed to wiggle the plug to get it to work. The staff weren't helpful, basically showed us the door and pointed the direction to go. We won't go back again, i don't think the room was worth the price we paid.

If you just need somewhere to spend the night and don't need a desk or a private bathroom or anything much else, then this basic accommodation right opposite a busy railway junction might be all you need. Friendly folks.

Photos on website looks to have been edited, the walls were dirty and had red stains. There’s a shared toilet for some rooms but the one on the website is only the private bathroom. The wallpaper in the toilet was ripping off and when arrived the tap in the shower was broken but that was fixed fast.
You could still see the dust on the skirting boards and on the walls as well.
The bedsheets also had holes.
There was a tv but no where to plug it in and tea and coffee were provided.

The staff were good and a good location for public transport.

The bathrooms were shared with the floor and dirty. There was a door to a shared balcony that didn't look so i had to bar it to make sure it wouldn't open. There was no air conditioning. There were no curtains so it was light all night. The facilities were old and run down. There was no parking. All in all you would be much better off staying at a hostel.

A terrible hotel - A hostel is way much better

This is the most terrible hotel that I have been staying. I stayed in a hostel in Sydney a month ago. In terms of cleanliness and service, hostel is way much better than this hotel.

a. Check-in
I advised that was my first time for me to stay in this hotel. It was a clear message that I know nothing about the hotel. Once I checked-in the counter, the service staff did not have any intention to show me the way to the right building for my stay. Rather, she asked \"Do you know the way to get in the room\". It is obvious that they have no intention to give you service.

2. High insecurity
the door frame in the room is broken.

3. Electrical socket
there is only one socket available. If you want to use the fan in the hot weather, it means that you cannot charge your phone

4. Cupboard
There is a cupboard right next to the bed as you can see in the picture. The mirror is gone and the surface of the cupboard is sticky and dirty.

5. Shared bathroom and toilet
Only 1 toilet for around 6 guest rooms and the lid is broken with flushing problem. The shower room is dirty with cracks. No shower curtain and the entire bathroom floor is wet led to slippery floor.

6. No lights along the corridor
It is dark when you walk along the corridor. It looks like a haunted house.

7. Noisy
The door frames are broken. Other guests had to slam the doors to close them probably. You would probably be waken up all night if the other guests come and go between room and toilet.

I had a very basic room with a door that would not open unless u used force to open and close it. This room also had 2 other doors that led into other rooms, but they were locked. In the room I there was a single bed, chair, table and night stand. This room also had 1 door that led to a balcony. This door was very unsecured , if u fell on the door it wood open. This motel needs a paint and needs all doors and hinges to be replaced or repaired.

We, 2 females, were placed in a room directly next to the male bathroom. The bathrooms were dirty despite the cleaners just being on the floor. Rooms are dark and dull, thick dust everywhere, mirrors filthy. Whats the point in a cupboard in the room if its locked and unusable. So noisy even past 2am. No latches on the inside of the door which is a red flag. Wouldnt reccomened, glad we were only there for the 1 night.

Pleasantly surprised as expected an old pub type stay with a decent bed but it turned out to be a huge room, lots of history vibes to it. Bed sheets was so comfy, very clean no dust, real private. I would book this place just for a great nights sleep as if I was in a luxury hotel bed. Right across the street from the station and all the restaurants and Woolies across the other side of the station.

It is very old, very strict check in. Could get in to the room till after 2pm. Room was put together with 2nd hand furnishings. Lock on door loose only just held together when someone tried to get in to my room at 2am. Smelt old, felt old and I left a day early as it felt unsafe.

I stayed for a week and every night the music was up so loud until 2am. I was exhausted. Each night I ended up sleeping with ear plugs, noise canceling headphones and a pillow over my head to try and get some sleep.
After the initial interaction of here are your keys you’re on the first floor I never saw a staff member again for the entire week. A bin empty would have been good considering my length of stay.
The facilities were fine, not going to complain since it was the cheapest room I could fine so wasn’t expecting much, in fact the room was bigger than expected and with a desk which was super handy.
Would be nice if the shower didn’t spray over the screen and soak the towel and clean clothes though.

Yes the building is old but this is what I loved about it, the charm of an old building is wonderful. It was value for money accommodation, had everything that we needed for our stay, perfect location, staff were super friendly and helpful, walking distance to transpirt and lots of restaurants. Parking was easy enough. If you looking for Budget old-world charm this is definitely the place to stay. Loved it.

Great Value

It would be easy to be critical of the hotel as it would benefit from a makeover, however at this price point it represents great value in Sydney. It’s basic and old fashioned, but it is clean and spacious and comfortable. The noise issue raised by other reviewers wasn’t an issue for me. I stayed mid week and had room 30 on the second floor at the rear and it was quiet. I would choose to stay there again.
