We loved our stay at Hotel Marincanto!! The location was close to everything, easy walk to town and restaurants. But more than anything, the staff was excellent. The manager Paulo and the bartender Pietro made the stay amazing. Would stay there again because they were so excellent. Helpful in every way with recommendations for meals and excursions and quick to pour a drink when needed. Thank you!!

This hotel made our stay in Positano a couple of the best days of our lives! Service was amazing in every location - lobby desk, lobby bar, breakfast, pool area, beach area, parking lot - just amazing in every way. Our room was incredible overlooking the clear blue sea and views of Positano were magnificent. You will not be disappointed staying here! Total luxury with gorgeous views!

View of the Positano and the Mediterranean Sea were amazing. Two small balconies with chairs and tables, one off the master the other off the living room/second sleeping area. Staff was fantastic, Paulo in particular took great care from the beginning, made good recommendations and help reserve an excursion. Only two small complaints would be the bed was very firm and we could hear music thumping until late. Still managed to sleep sorta ok so minor compared to the fantastic staff, from Paulo to the receptionist, the manager and wait staff at their restaurant (where we enjoyed an excellent 5-course price fix dinner).

One of our favorite hotels during our time in Italy! It lives up to the name of a romantic hotel. Best to come without kids. Loved the kind friendly staff. They made it special for my husbands 40th birthday. Love the private beach area they have. Great pillows! They give you slippers and a robe to use! And a great beach bag as well! I would stay here again!

Stunning setting built into the cliffs of Positano. Views are breathtaking. Staff is excellent. We had 2BR suite with balcony halfway down the cliffs. Very clean. Very comfortable. There are no elevators between lobby level and the beach so be prepared for steps but it’s worth it if you are able. Infinity pool. Beach Club. Swim in the Mediterranean. Endless beauty and scenery. Excellent restaurant on lobby level with terrace seating and views. Shopping and good restaurants along the street above and along the beach below. Lots of walking but worth it for this one of a kind locale. Parking available for our car. Driving here requires steady nerves! Would stay here again for sure.

The staff here was second to none. Paulo was so helpful and welcoming and we loved having drinks with Piatro. The hotel was beautiful and very well maintained.

I would say our room (Villa 6) was a mixed bag. The view was simply amazing, but the bed was not comfortable and our shower was tiny. Upon check out, I mentioned the bed and was told they would have swapped out our mattress…so lesion learned there. We would come back here if we returned to Positano.

From the moment we walked in we felt so welcome. The environment was so warm. They even gave us a room upgrade for my husbands 40th birthday. I’d like to especially mention Dario he was beyond amazing from the moment we walked in to hours after we left. He showed us all the best spots to go to on the map with easy directions we didn’t even need googl maps! He took his time to book our ferry tickets and made sure the porters got our luggage’s down safely while communicating with me all through the way. Dario if you’re reading this thank you for all you did for us! You made our positano extra special! Marincanto all in all 10/10!

From the moment I arrived, the experience was nothing short of incredible. Palo & Dario are the best and made the experience perfect! The staff were some of the friendliest and most thoughtful I’ve ever encountered. They anticipated what I needed before I could even ask, making me feel genuinely cared for every step of the way. Everyone was not only helpful but also so much fun to interact with, bringing an energy and warmth that made the entire stay feel special.

The level of service was truly outstanding. Every detail felt intentional, from the way the staff remembered my preferences to the effortless way they handled every request with a smile. It was clear they take great pride in what they do, and it made my experience feel more like a retreat than just a hotel stay.

The view was absolutely breathtaking. Whether I was relaxing with a drink or just soaking in the surroundings, the scenery never stopped impressing me. There are several cozy spots throughout the property where you can just sit back, unwind, and enjoy the beauty around you.

The location is perfect — close to everything I wanted to explore yet peaceful and private enough to feel like a true escape. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER

This was the worst experience we have ever had at a hotel. From the moment we checked in I could tell the attendant was overwhelmed. Everything looked run down, cushions ripped and damp on the couches. Staff look unfriendly and barely acknowledge us at all. When taken to our room we had to walk through bags of laundry and cleaning supplies that were there the entire time. The room was underwhelming and the bathroom was filthy and falling apart. The pool water was slimy and there staff again didn’t acknowledge us. Waking up the room was infested with ants. The breakfast buffet food was cold and again no acknowledgment from staff. We ended up leaving after night one even though we planned to stay three nights. When I communicated our disappointment with the front desk they only made excuses and refused to refund me for the two nights left when I said we would be leaving because it was that bad. They kept making excuses and absolutely did not practice appropriate customer service in this kind of situation. For close to $1,600 a night everything about this hotel was absurd and I would stay away from booking here. They attempted to offer a room upgrade but that was clear they didn’t understand that it was not just the room that was the issue. I’ve worked in customer service for over 20 years and I cannot believe they refused to refund us in this type of situation. It shows that customer satisfaction is absolutely not a priority nor is righting a wrong.

The only thing was the A/C did not work well and my building lost power almost every night off and on. That made it very hot even for the 10 minute off and on issues. Also- there was some mold around the a/c units in the wall. I assume this is common for this area. But- I would stay again!

We booked an ocean view room — a premium experience we were really looking forward to. When we checked in, we were told we were being “upgraded” to a better room. That sounded great… until we got there and realized it had no windows. Not a partial view, not a courtyard — literally a windowless room.

We immediately asked to switch back to what we had originally booked and paid for, but were told nothing could be done. No alternative options, no credit, no apology — just a shrug.

This felt like a bait-and-switch. The ocean view was a huge part of why we booked this trip. Getting stuck in a dark, closed-off room completely changed the experience.

The best view of Positano buildings. Very beautiful. Has private section where you can walk down stairs to the main beach. You can also use those stairs to get to hotel faster from the main square. On the upper portion you can walk down to a coffee/ pastry spot where they had great Iced coffee and continue on to main square. Total of about 10-15 min walk down

Hotel Maricanto in Positano, Italy was amazing. From check in to check out the staff provided top notch service. Paolo the concierge was marvelous with all the info he provided for our trip and the ladies at the desk helping. us out with the boat to Capri and scooter rental. They were there to truly make sure their customer enjoy every facet of their facilities and town. The breakfast was delicious and so were the views. The staff again exceptional! Our room was amazing to wake up to or just stay in. Definitely, coming back here. Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable time.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The best hotel staff I have ever experienced. The check-in process was smooth. The front desk staff/ reception staff went above and beyond to attend to our needs. He was the nicest and friendliest staff. He even packed us breakfast to-go on our day of check out which was early. The room had the best view of Positano. They had a great breakfast spread and we also dined at this place . They have the best vegan tasting menu. I highly recommend staying in this place. My only little hiccup would be the valet parking. The guy was very nice but he did cause damage to our car while parking( Positano being a super tight space) But, the hotel staff was very receptive about the issue and was ready to reimburse if necessary! ( we had insurance so did not have to get on this route)

We felt like royalty staying here. We were treated to a FABULOUS upgrade, and beyond that the service is just top notch. The folks at the desk particularly (shout out Dario and Anita) continued to go the extra mile to ensure every bit of our stay was just perfect. I’ve never received such incredible service. The hotel is also wonderfully located, not too far up or down the hills to the beach area. Unbeatable views (photos attached from our terrace) The property is immaculate, with wonderful people throughout adding to the magic. Would love to come again!

We absolutely loved our stay here. Although we only stayed for one night, we received world class service and hospitality. Paolo and Angela were extremely gracious and helpful - recognizing we would need a transfer service the next day, they proactively booked it for us in advance and offered several helpful recommendations. Our room was upgraded and overlooking the water, very close to shopping/clubs/restaurants. Breakfast was superb. After checking out of the hotel to catch a ferry from Positano to Sorrento, we found our ferry to be cancelled for weather reasons. Unable to get a taxi or bus due to overcrowding. Called the hotel who sent a transport person to pick us up, return us to the hotel and then arranged for private driver to Sorrento. Staff were extremely helpful, welcoming, and went out of their way to assist us. Would highly recommend!

Pros:
The staff was great, especially Paolo who gave us recommendations for visiting the area.
The restaurant is excellent, both breakfast and dinner.
The hotel itself is located in a good place near a bus station and within walking distance to the centre of Positano.
The room was beautiful and spacious with an amazing view all day long!

Cons:
The parking was a so-so experience. The hotel parking lot is on the top floor on street level and holds around 8 cars in two rows. If a slot is open the parking is a breeze - but if it's full then there's no practical place around to wait with the car while the hotel valet clears space for you, which can be frustrating.
The room has a fridge with complementary water bottles, which wasn't refilled every day. Also, on some days we were missing shampoo entirely - only got bath gel bottles.

Great experience overall, and Positano is a joy to visit!

Wow where do I start! I was here for a wedding and stayed a few days. Prior to arrival I had a terrible experience flying in due to cancelled flights and a 40hr delay. Plus the airline lost my luggage.

Upon finally getting to Hotel Marincanto, I was greeted with open arms and the most sincere stay after a nightmare. They checked me in, gave me a welcome drink, snack, and upgraded my room.

They even took care of locating my lost luggage and was able to get it in 2 days. They also took care of any accommodations and reservations with ease and were the most helpful.

Dario really went above and beyond helping me locate my luggage and make sure my stay was perfect! The BEST experience I’ve had abroad thus far. Highly recommend this place. Also, they have a private beach so you do not need to fight for beach reservations and an amazing pool with a wonderful view.

We had a fabulous stay at Marincanto. The staff was extremely helpful in suggesting activities and restaurants for us to try. They booked us dinner reservations and transportation to our next hotel. The hotel has beautiful views away from the bustle of the busier shopping area which we enjoyed. Everything was within walking distance. I booked a suite, the bedroom was the smallest of the 3 rooms, bed only very small window with no view. The sitting area was ok. The bathroom had a huge jacuzzi (which we never used) and the smallest shower with not enough room to bend over. The bathroom window had the best view, we would have wanted to wake up with the same view from our bedroom, very disappointing.

We had an amazing 4 night stay at the hotel, the private loungers/beach club access is a huge plus. The rooms was clean and nice with beautiful views, only thing was the bed was not the most comfy.
We did have an issue with ants in the room which they took care of very quickly, and not unexpected given you are in the middle of gardens.
The breakfast was fine, but restaurant views breathtaking and dinner at the restaurant was best we had in positano

We stayed one night in Positano. The hotel is easy to reach by car and bus. The walk uphill is doable with a small luggage. We stayed in a tiny room with no view. The blind were broken which meant we were woken up at sunrise. The bathroom was tiny and not very convenient. I think the experience would have been better if we had stayed in a different room
The hotel has a nice pool and a private beach reachable by stairs.

The hotel staff was very professional, cheerful, and accommodating. Arriving later than expected, we got the last reserved room - whose balcony overlooked the canopies of the restaurant. Happy to say, we were given a new room the next day, and the hotel staff moved all of our belongings while we were enjoying Positano. A gorgeous villa!

Breakfast was very enjoyable out on the veranda overlooking the beach and the sea. The breakfast ambiance is a little sterile inside, but a good variety is offered.

The lobby is not on street level. One must go through the entrance and then take the stairs or elevator down several floors to reach the lobby.

Explore the premises. There are so many spots on site to enjoy: the veranda, the private beach, the pool area, etc. They are all on different levels.

The hotel’s location is up on the hill at the far end of town on the main street, so be prepared to always climb the gradual hill back if you go into town.

We found the restaurants nearest the hotel to be the most touristy and distasteful. Walk into town!

Our luggage was able to be held for us as needed, and we were able to keep our car in the parking area after we checked out, since they had room. Be sure to reserve your parking ahead of your stay. Depending on your car size, the rate varies.

When we returned to the Marincanto a couple of days later, all the staff remembered us and made us so welcome once again. We loved our stay and highly recommend the Marincanto!

The prestige suite is a must ! Like a dream actually, I've seen nice hotels and nice views in my life but just go there and thank me later! The staff was attentive, view was phenomenal and the lemon trees just added to the magic. Thanks for the memories

When staying in Positano I had a hard time choosing a hotel but I am so happy and satisfied that I chose this hotel. The view from this hotel was amazing. It’s what everyone comes to Positano to see. The staff was great. We felt welcomed. Breakfast was wonderful. We had a Jr Suite and it was the most amazing view with a small balcony and a large balcony. We ordered some pizzas one night, bought a bottle of wine and sat on the balcony to watch the sweetest sunset. This hotel has a pool with a view, not many offer that. Although it’s not heated, it wasn't super cold (and we were here the first week of October). The property is on a hill and they have stair access to the beach (not many have that), so it was convenient to not have to walk down into the town to access the beach. They also have a beach club and access to a bar so we had the perfect day at the beach with spritzes. We paid for half a day which was perfect and not too much. The ladies always kept our room clean which was nice. The only thing I can recommend them is to update their bathroom but other than that this place is a win! We would definitely come back and stay here again!!!

Plus packed us breakfast bag since our flight was taking off so early. Love the ocean view from our room n the dining fresco area is gorgeous!

The property is absolutely beautiful. But the staff is absolutely unparalleled! Antonella went completely out of her way to assist us throughout our entire trip. My fiancé and I came to Positano to scout wedding venues and our airline lost our luggage for four full days. Antonella repeatedly called the airline to track down our luggage and was incredibly persistent. She was also so kind to upgrade us to a premiere suite our second night when we expressed that the room did not meet the expectations that were set by the photos on Expedia. I threw out my neck our second night and Antonella went through the trouble of researching and finding a chiropractor in the area to treat me. No request big or small phased her and she left the biggest impression on us. We were so incredibly impressed by her warmth, proactive nature, follow up, and patience. The hotel is incredibly lucky to have her as she is an absolute asset to any company. Yes the property is lovely but honestly, Antonella made the experience for us. I am so impressed by her. Thank you Antonella for everything that you did for us and me.

Prpoerty is situated in a lovely area allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful Positano landscape. Private access to beach via 285 steps seems alot but not too bad and the beach is wonderful with crystal blue water. Staff is super friendly and went out of their way to ensure a perfect stay. Breakfast on terrace was wonderful and views extraordinary

Wonderful stay!

This location of the hotel was outstanding and the views were stunning. Easy access to town and great amenities with private beach and pool. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, we had a JR suite and it was spacious. It’s a bit outdated however everything else made up for that. Service was definitely 4 star. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

First, change the breakfast service system. I does not make any sense to have a line to get served because of covid and the waiters not to use a mask.
Bed sheets and pillows are a disaster. Chamge the layout of yhe junior suite special, you get seen by the room above while in jacuzzi.
