My boyfriend and I had a great time here. The resort overall was very nice, although the room was definitely dated and felt a bit musty.

We enjoyed the pickleball courts and the ocean pool. Unfortunately the resort was fully booked during our visit so the pools and beach were very busy. The ocean pool was a nice escape as it was adults only and more quiet.

The food was good, our favourite was the Mexican restaurant and the taco bar. We loved the nature and animals and had an amazing time overall!

I was disappointed when a few of the outside bars were not open (especially at the adult only section) there was nobody at the towel station. Then I went to make a reservation at an à la carte restaurant and the response were that no reservations were available until the day after check out for us. This was disappointing. They shut down 2 à la carte restaurants and were unable to accommodate reservations even though the restaurants had no shows, they refused to sit walk ins. Very unorganized overall. Activities were not scheduled as planned on the pdf. Beautiful location. Systems needs work

Everything was amazing! The rooms were clean, staff were friendly, and we loved the amenities for children. Loved how easy, convenient and nearby it was to enter Xcaret park via Occidental hotel (less than 5 mins from lobby). We didn’t get to try any of the other restaurant because we enjoyed going to the buffet for breakfast and dinner. The staff at the buffet were amazing and sweet! Gracias Leydi y Areli.

I purchase a VIP package and when we arrive we were told that’s we had the basic package. I talk to the front desk and even a manager and was told I had the basic package. I will her stay with Barceló again they lied and they were saying it was Expedia fault. I want to let you know the waiters in the main buffet build were very nice and Hugo the Chef was awesome.

Meals at the buffets were all wonderful. 3 are open for breakfast and lunch. One is open for dinner. We could not book reservations at other restaurants but they only had -4 tables being used. Could keep beach buffet open for dinner and be able to make reservations at check in. Pool could be open till 2200 for adults.
The rooms (jr suite) was large, cool, comfortable. Beyond expectations!
The staff All fantastic! Cart driver Eric showed us how to get around.
Playa and pools Fantastic!! Clean, lots of space. Snorkel by rocks. NO seaweed. Just lovely.
What a wonderful place thank you for keeping the natural animals and fauna. Thank you for sharing it.

This was my 5th stay. While there were some minor declines in overall experience, I still love this property and the staff is usually great. Disappointed they aren’t keeping restaurants open (the ones you reserve) on a regular basis. We paid for those as part of our trip but couldn’t get into any we wanted to.

I recently stayed at Xcaret Resort and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The overall cleanliness was far below expectations. The room was dirty upon arrival, which immediately made the stay uncomfortable.

The beach, which is usually the highlight of a resort, was also not well maintained. It was noticeably dirty and not inviting at all. On top of that, the beach chairs were old, worn out, and some were even broken, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the area.

Overall, the resort seems poorly maintained, and it did not meet basic standards of cleanliness and comfort. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made.

Beautiful resort, comfortable stay, lots to do. Food was average but that’s not a big deal, the staff members were nice but not the most helpful. We had to walk to and from our room 3 times because the key wasn’t working and instead of having someone walk with us, they kept sending us back. The concierge didn’t show us around as soon as we told her we weren’t interested in becoming members, so there’s a lot we didn’t discover until our last day or two. There’s also no party vibe, music is VERY limited at the pools, so if you’re looking for a lively experience, I’d choose a different place. However, this resort is relaxing and slow which is nice as well if that’s what you’re looking for.

Beautiful resort with fun games every afternoon. The kids loved it. Buffet food was as good as any all-inclusive with the Mexican food and fresh fruit being excellent. The animals make it worth going to this resort at least once. Worst dinner-reservation situation I've seen at an all-inclusive. You have to wait in line every morning to make one reservation for dinner two days in the future, if you get in line early enough.

The is property is beautiful I will give it 8/10 our room the rr shower didn’t work the blow dryer didn’t work.
Now the reason why I rate 8/10 is because the food is horrible we stayed Friday-Tuesday and the only good thing we’re the Tacos. Food needs flavor a lot of empty trays I wouldn’t go back just because of the food. The place overall is beautiful.

The buffet food quality is terrible and the dinner reservation process is a nightmare. After standing in a line for over an hour at 7am we managed to get one dinner reservation at 5.30pm during our whole 5 day trip. Its a shocking decision from the hotel to do things this way and leaves everyone very angry. Even the staff think its a joke.

The hotel itself is lovely and a 5 minute walk to Xcaret.

Also the Michael Jackson show that was on was fantastic.

So if you can accept terrible food and an angry reservation process in favour of location then this is the place for you.

I would recommend finding a hotel with much better food reviews and take a taxi to the parks.

It was to wind so we weren’t able to snorkel and was really looking forward to it. We have stayed here a few times and really like this property! Monkey’s every day and the forest walk is great! The Mayan show, every other night is great. The evening entertainment is some of the best! Services at the restaurant and bars are pretty good you just have to remember Mexican time is slower and more relaxed. The piano singer was very good!

Beautiful grounds and lots of wildlife. Food at the buffets was hit and miss. Steakhouse restaurant was great! Some staff were very polite and helpful, and some seemed like the guests just being there was a burden. Sargassum had made its way past the barrier a couple days into our stay, but the staff worked hard for a few days to get the beach area cleaned.

The proximity to xcaret is great and the buffet is okay. We were told dinner reservations were made every morning for that night. This was incorrect by the time we were sick of the buffet and ready to make dinner reservations they were pretty much all booked up. A lot of guests we spoke with had similar problems with the dinner reservations. Our backup plan, the pizza place was closed during it's open hours on two of the nights we tried. The maps on property are hard to read and it's easy to get turned around definitely not enough signage to help navigate.

Beautiful grounds. Huge property! Lots of activities for kids and a separate splash park. The wildlife is amazing. We loved watching the monkeys. There are several pools that are huge, beautiful, and well maintained. We thought the property was a great value. The buffets had a large variety and the food was good. I knocked off one star because the check in process was loooong and it was nearly impossible to get dinner reservations at the speciality restaurants. You had to go to the lobby at 7am to book 2 days in advance. These little blips would not stop me from staying there again. We had a great time. 4 adults. 2 rooms. This was a family trip with our adult children.

We recently stayed at Occidental at Xcaret Destination and overall had a really enjoyable experience.

The property itself is absolutely stunning—one of the most lush, jungle-like resort settings you could ask for. The wildlife was incredible and truly sets this place apart. We had monkeys visiting our balcony daily, which was amazing to watch. If you enjoy nature and wildlife, this resort is hard to beat—but if that’s not your thing, this may not be the place for you.

The pools were great, always clean and relaxing, and the entire resort has a very natural, immersive feel. The staff across the board were kind, friendly, and very helpful. One employee, Moses, really stood out as exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay better.

Our room was nice and comfortable, housekeeping did a fantastic job, and the minibar was always well stocked. The bars were also excellent—service was quick and always came with a smile.

The only downside was the food, which was just okay overall. That said, the pizza restaurant was outstanding—honestly better than most pizza places in the U.S.

Check-in could definitely use some improvement, as the process felt slower than it should be.

All in all, this is a beautiful resort with a unique jungle atmosphere, great service, and unforgettable wildlife experiences.

The resort is not bad. On the positive side, it is situâted among jungles, and many animals feel freely to move in the territory and they are friendly at the same time. This is really great & unusual! The resort is big and you really have impression to stay among jungles - the buildings are not visible and one stays in interaction with nature - we loved it.
When coming to the policy of hotel to treat customers is really weird and unpleasant. The clients with réservations from Expedia are tréated like the low level « third class » people. We booked a junior suite and I looked at the website that certain amenities should be included (like slippers and bothrobes). But when we came to the room nothing was and, they say you are «from Expedia » and thus not entitled for these. They also have a building where “Expedia” people are being placed - Expedia building - and considered lower level. So it feels like segregation. We spent 7 days in the resort and felt such attitude in every aspect. Another example is booking of the restaurants “à la carte” - one has to come at 7:00 every morning to reception to maybe book a table inthe restaurant in the evening. All this is created artificially because they give priority and keep tables for other guests. While we went to the restaurants and 2-3 times they were almost empty at 20:00 and later. But Expedia regular customers still have to “fight” with staff to get reservation - it is a nonsense attitude and definitely not in vacation spirit!!!

The grounds were gorgeous with wildlife everywhere!
The room was nicely air conditioned.
We could not book specialty restaurants due to our own busy schedule. The buffets were clean and Pacos Tacos was wonderful. The Beach club buffet was good and the view was breathtaking. Staff was amazing.
MTS will up charge you so be careful of that!

This is my third time at this resort and every time has been great. Honestly, the food is average but who goes to a sun destination for the food anyway. It's all about the sand, sun, and relaxation and this resort delivers. And it's close proximity to 2 major parks(Xplor and Xcaret) cut our travel time down huge so we could spend more of our vacation enjoying everything else! This resort is great for girlfriends, couples and families add there is something for everyone to enjoy. And it's jungle environment means you are immersed in nature and not packed on top of one another.

Lets start from the beginning, the food at
this resort is terrible. We stayed at Royal level and the food wasn’t any better then the buffet. The sewer smell in the resort is very off putting. We were made to change rooms because of a leak they had in the room under us. We came back from breakfast and the water in the shower and tub were shut off, we were told they had to turn it off due to a leak. We were understanding and told the staff its fine and when we would be back so our water could be turned back on. We came back to our room and there were five men in our bathroom cutting a hole in the ceiling with all of our personal belongings everywhere. At rhis point we were upset. Went to the desk and we were told it would be five minutes. We were lied to and the manager caught us as we were about to go to the pool and told us we had to change rooms. All in all it was about 5 hours lost of our vacation. This resort needs alot of updating. The best part was the wild life.

On the first day, the air conditioner had a severe moldy smell that caused a terrible headache and sore throat. After that, I couldn’t use it at all, no matter how hot it was.

The amenity containers also seemed poorly cleaned and had a strong damp, wet rag smell, which was extremely unpleasant and unhygienic.

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. The river flowing through the grounds made for a great place to walk, explore, and travel into the park. I loved how close we were to the beach. The fact that there was wildlife and plants integrated into the paths between the hotel and beach was incredible. I highly recommend Xcaret park as well…this park is in its own class of beauty and has so many options. You could easily spend days there.

The food was not good. You get what you pay for. I pretty much stuck to what I knew. Breakfast was fine and the beer was beer so that’s about all I needed. It is worth going into town for better food.

The grounds were lush and green with creatures roaming throughout. Pools were great, ample food options but challenging to get into the more desirable restaurants. The buffets were better than others I've had at all inclusuves. Location adjacent to Xcaret was a plus and easily walkable for park activities. I had a great short massage in the spa. Abundant wildlife, it was amusing to watch the monkeys on the trails, trees and balconies 🤗 the pools were big enough for all of the guests remember to put your towels down early if you want a chair! Same with the beach. There is a lot of walking Moses was great he picked us up a few times in a cart.
The pillows were not comfortable! The cots are more comfortable than the pull out couch. The food was what you would expect at an all inclusive plentiful and fresh but my granddaughter said bland.
Xcaret was great we got the unlimited pass and went to the park all but one day.
