Inside: Didn’t notice rooms downstairs, just the bathroom with tiny stalls. Most (all?) bedrooms were upstairs - definitely not accessible. Bedrooms were stuffy, even with window opened - no AC!
Largest space is the kitchen - provided pancakes and eggs - you must cook and clean after yourself. Upside - you can go to grocery and cook your food?
Would NOT recommend unless you can’t afford other places or rent the single bedroom, or go with enough people to rent out the entire room.

The chocolat chip pancakes peanut butter in the morning were a real treat. Old fashioned almost wild west decor. Nice hangout lounge. Good wifi. Bathroom facilities minimal. One night staff member seemed to have personal problems, made me uncomfortable. Daytime staff friendly and helpful. Excellent location.

The room was fine. Bathroom ok. Loud Loud Drinking game going on for hours starting at 5pm with lots of Loud Profanity. Impossible to sleep. Bathroom door needs oil! Squeaked all night with people going in and out. Check in/checkout people couldn't advise on parking info.

Good location and staff was friendly enough. But buildings and furnishings are in need of serious repair, renovation and cleaning. Shower by our room was out of service. Curtain in the shower downstairs was riddled with mold and mildew. Outside furniture too dirty to sit on. Filter on room air conditioner was covered with what had to be years of dust and dirt. Key cards consistently malfunctioned for most of our stay. Did not provide all amenities advertised. Supposedly smoking not allowed inside, but that apparently does not apply to weed.

The photos of this hostel are very misleading though. I chose this hostel due to how clean and updated it had seemed. Our stay was two nights, in the second night we went to use the communal showers and it felt like I was in a horror movie. I was expecting to use the clean and updated showers shown in their photos, instead my options were a shower stall with no light, a shower stall with no running water, or the upstairs stall that was full of spiders and caked in dark residue. We obviously were unable to shower during our trip, this is coming from someone who has stayed in hostels before and had access to these amenities with no problem.
Our room claimed to have AC, there was an AC unit in our closet but our window did not open. There was a compact window near the bed that gave us ventilation but had no screen so we inevitably had bugs in our room our entire stay.
I did not expect much considering this is a hostel but I had hoped it would have Atleast been clean and not misleading. I hate having to leave a negative review considering how kind and helpful the staff were, the advertising of this place vs. the reality of the state it is in is not their fault.

When I got there I didn't realize that everyone was able to sleep together, and I was very upset with how they did not have to wear masked because of the covid 19, I had to check into another hotel. I feel that my health was compromised because of that. I asked for a refund and they refused to give it to me.

It was very beautiful downstairs! The common room and kitchen was very nice and organized also super colorful. Went to the room and the AC was on but no air flow whatsoever. Another issue was that nobody in there had any mask on for covid and understanding that the staff had that chill vibe going on it would’ve been nice if hand sanitizer was accessible along with soap in the upstairs bathroom! The bathrooms are a completely different story! we went into the private bathroom and there was hair around the toilet underneath the seat. No toilet paper was in there also no hand soap so I can wash after. People are loud at night even though they are friendly. Earbuds are accessible.
So the cons are that the room was very hot even when the ac was on due to the vents being covered in dust. The restrooms were minimal not kept in the best manners especially during covid. Cleanliness could’ve been kept better but it’s not too horrible due to it being a hostel.

House up a hill was generally comfortable, nicely decorated and clean. Bathroom was huge upstairs. The downstairs one had a bath too. Also other toilets downstairs. Kitchen was convenient and tv room cozy. Outside sitting area pleasant to enjoy the sunshine. Location convenient enough and not too busy. Good wifi during our stay. Great first impression from Ciro(?) hope its spelt right, from S. America and Earl(?), from USA, hope we got his name right too. He was always welcoming too and helpful. Saw him busy with other guests, cleaning and caring for the plants.

Everyone was so nice, lots of laughter. 420 friendly was great. It was a bit loud in the evenings, bed sheets could have been larger and the tv connection was awful.

It was nice enough for a hostel but the problem was the noise. I was there two nights, the first night there was partying until 4:15am with loud music, yelling, and piano playing that kept both me and my bunk mate up all night. The second night was a little better but still had loud music until past midnight when my other bunk mate asked to leave.

Just curious to know, how I can file a complaint for items ( not just left around randomly), but that we're taken from the tenant I was staying in while taking a nap before work.? I brought this matter to the attention of the so-called boarding staff at the ITH & was told I so-called signed a voucher excusing theif within the property?? Basically I was treated like I was wrong! That's completely false. The only thing I signed upon arriving was for my visa. I'm trying my best to refrain from leaving a side-ways review of this place completely over looking the bad in this place and utilizing the positive. But the GO-HAPPY-PARTY-STAFF circle at the hostel did nothing, to inforce the policies of this place, nor even question the so called housekeeping/party staff that run the hostel. (Its was evident who took my belongings; either the housekeeper, who may have took it thinking the last person who slept there left it behind or the other transient who took a shower & thought the same, before he left. Thinking hey I came up! Because there's only 2 outlets in the room both ackwardly by bunks that port the outlet).This is really upsetting for me, I invested a bit of time & money into this place only to be disappointed by staff that seem to stick up for there crush-partner-party-friends. Unfortunately I still owe T-Mobile $96.98 on the stolen property that was taken out the room, that can only be entered by code. If there is no reincompensation push forth in this matter.

Nobody helped me, you really need to do something, one of the guests can have a deadly injury.

Ideal Solo Bunking
A nice place for a solo traveler. The location is near the ocean and is a nice area with restaurants and near downtown. Parking is a little problem but I found an area around the block with all day parking. After 6 PM you can park anywhere but initially if you come during business hours it can be frustrating as street parking is limited. The hostel is clean and comfortable if you don't mind climbing up a buck bed. It was very quiet and cooking facilities are provided. Price is very reasonable and WiFi works great.

Awesome location, house we stayed in was very nice. Clean, kitchen was clean. The walls were thin and you could hear people walking up and down the wooden stairs. The bed was not comfortable and we couldn’t get the room to cool down at night.

My personal pillow got taken off of my bed and when I told the person who said she was in charge she didn’t seem very bothered about it. She texted people, but then didn’t say anything else about it and I had to leave to catch my plane home.

Very easy and quick to check-in, reception staff were attentive, clear and helpful. Cute and comfortable, stayed in a 4-bed shared accomodation with alternating roommates over 3 days. I stayed in a different building right around the corner and it was very silent and chill, bathrooms were kept clean and tidy. Only complaint was having to go to the other building to pick up towels, but only had to do that twice over 3 days. Complimentary breakfast was also very good with good selection. Great for a quick stay, very pleased with the experience.

Worse hotel ever!!!!
First I was told I couldn’t check in till 4 pm - well at least it will be clean right! NOT!!!! Then I was put in a dorm with three men- are you kidding me?!?!? Then the tv didn’t work aked three time that night and three times that morning for someone to come fix it! All six times I was told someone would come around to our house and fix it- never happened. Staff was rude and the bathroom and kitchen was dirty! What’s the four o’clock check in for? I would never go there ever again......

We asked the workers at the desk to turn our air down in our room on multiple occasions since it was very uncomfortably hot in the room and each time, they'd turn it on for a little while then it was obvious they turned it back off after only a short time.

The room didn't have any airflow, and the temperatures were hot that day. The rest of the hostel had the use of an air-conditioner, but my room's vent never pushed out cold air, and the doors to the outside deck didn't allow for a cool breeze to come in without compromising privacy.

Be prepared. The staff and most of the guests are young and like to party. Being 60, I was nervous walking in. But the staff made me feel welcome straight away. The room in the \"Farmhouse\" (they have a garden and chickens and a n outdoor shower) was spacious and clean and I had the best sleep I have had in a week. There are out door patios and couches everywhere. Whole lotta fun...if you enjoy young people; and I do!

I stood here while I was in San Diego for a half marathon its location is excellent. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms could use a better cleaning mines had tons of cobwebs but the beds were amazingly soft!!!

The location is good. The hostel is close to the entrance of Balboa park, which takes you about 15 minutes to get there. Besides, it takes you only 10 minutes to arrive to the green line trolley station.

I really like this hostel - there are several options; if you like the more partying atmosphere you can stay in the main building. For a quieter more restful night’s sleep there is the “Farm House.” The staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and happy, plus there is a daily breakfast, fresh clean towels, etc. Can’t wait to stay there again!
