Had a hard time finding parking, it's under renovation and had construction vehicles taking some spots. And there was limited others and mainly for small cars. The breakfast wasn't that good. The rooms were good though. Good location to the bay area but the train goes by frequently, if your a light sleeper...

They gave me a different room we paid for a sofa bed,and we didn’t get one, I called the front desk and they didn’t believe we didn’t have one, they sent security to check the room, they moved us to a 2 queen bed which was fine, one light didn’t work and kept turning on all night, we had to get up to turn it of 5 times, place was clean, parking is very tight but is a garage so your car will be safe, food is ok, usual hotel menu.

We absolutely love this location, this is our second time staying at this location. The only caution I think is important for those new to coming to this location ave may have a vehicle, the parking is not great. You are not guaranteed a space and it’s extremely tight. Other than that, we will definitely come back again.

View outside my window not so great - although it’s not their property, sad this is the image people see of beautiful San Diego. Also very close to trains/tracks and can hear that all night.

The property is located in a very convenient area. You can walk to little Italy and to the tall ships. The room was clean especially the bathroom. Using the elevators at peak times was almost impossible as they were doing maintenance on one. My husband was not happy that the coffee ran out at breakfast. But the staff were nice and professional. All in all a good place to stay.

Loved the location in relation to the Inner Harbor. Early March 2026 the Hotel is under construction, so pool was unavailable, construction was active so some areas were were dirty, and not all elevators were active. Noisy location due to train nearby.

The pool was not in use due to construction. The location was great to walk to a lot of activities, however, the light rail and Amtrak noise was extremely loud in the room. The breakfast was good but I wished there were two types of meats to accommodate most needs or wants and the breakfast area was nice! The hotel took security seriously and had the front doors locked during off hours. Biggest complaint is the noise from the train tracks right behind the hotel.

The room was great, staff great, breakfast good. Can't give it 5 stars though due to the remodel. If you're there during the day, you can't get away from the noise of it if you're on a floor up or down from the work being done. Understandable yes, but still an issue, you know? Also with all the extra workers there and remodel materials taking up many parking spots, there was NOPLACE TO PARK in the garage which was pricey per night already. Parking willy nilly, having to back down the ramps - nightmare. Oh, and there's no airport shuttle, just FYI. Nice rooms though! Very close to the waterfront - walking distance to ship museum and restaurants, Little Italy. I would stay there again, but probably not until the remodel is done! :)

There was construction, going on the halls, were filled with dust on Friday during the day, there was construction on the second floor, there was no fitness center or access to the pool. This is not told in advance when I booked my trip. The room that we got was right over the trolley and it runs all night. We could not sleep we had to change rooms.

Our first room didn’t have a sofa/chaise/chair - as was advertised - other than the desk chair and so we requested a room change. We then went to dinner and walked around the harbor area. Upon our return, we realized that there weren’t any wall outlets or lamp outlets/usb ports on one side of the bed. We phoned the front desk and a kind maintenance worker brought an extension cord so I could charge my phone and iPad before an early morning flight. Although there were deficiencies, the staff were kind and worked toward resolutions - however at $176/night, it seems that there needs to be more attention to detail.
Also, the train is very close and noisy, so request a room on the other side of the hotel.
On the plus side, the bed was comfy and the bathroom spotless.

Despite the ongoing renovations of the front desk area and elevators we had a pleasant night stay. The bed was very comfortable. The hot breakfast options was good and the eating area kept very clean. Only complaint was the water for the shower was luke warm at best and very low pressure. Not sure if this was due to the renovations at the time or not. Was strange because there was very hot water and lots of pressure from the bathroom sink taps. Hotel is 10 minute walk to the cruise ship terminal which was great for us.

The hotel was being renovated and the parking was very tight in the hotel lot.

The property manager was unreasonable about what happened on the property yet we received restaurant menus slipped under our hotel room door.

Where was the security? How did someone from a local restaurant get access to guest hallways?

I have stayed here before, and the location is nice. Little Italy is walkable and has a variety of places to eat. The harbor and the retired “pirate” ships are across the way. the S.S Midway and seaport village is in close proximity as well.

However, not impressed with the hotel at all. This time or the last time I was there. Walls are thin. Last visit I could hear my neighbors getting it on. This visit, my door shut, but not at the top. The room was clean for a hotel room, but still not impressed. Location is what made me book here this second time.

Staff support was lacking. They weren't wearing name tags or uniforms at the feont desk to suggest they even worked there. And when asked for recommendations for a restaurant, they had no helpful suggestions. All night we could hear the public transit trains as they were close by. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because we were excited about the pool and laundry facility. Both pool and laundry were closed for rennovation. Further parking garage was over crowded with construction worker vehicles. We were blocked in multiple times and our car was hit on the last day by one of the construction vehicles. Room was at least clean.

Sadly we did not have a good stay here which is a shame because I’ve stayed at May Hampton inns over the years and they have all been fine. Our room was located in the very back of the hotel nearest the train tracks (which we didn’t know existed right alongside the hotel). All night long we heard the loud BEEP BEEP BEEP of the crossing arms going up and down. There was a lot of construction being done on the hotel so the hammering just below us started up before 9am. Our room had new carpet which is nice but we were breathing the chemical fumes all night. Due to the construction, water was shut off in our room while my husband was in the bathroom with soapy hands. We actually decided to go home a day early because we didn’t want to stay another night and the hotel would not refund our second night. Beware this is not a good time to visit with the construction going on. And if you cannot sleep through loud noises, this is not the hotel for you.

Additionally there was significant renovation happening at the property. I was unaware of this and found the experience very disappointing for a Hampton Inn.

Friendly and helpful front desk staff. They stored our luggage for us since our flight got in early. Area around the hotel was safe to walk even at night. Room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. It’s about an easy 2 block walk to the cruise ship pier. It is being renovated currently, but did not affect us at all. No noise or debris. We enjoyed our stay.

We arrived to a hotel that was under construction and looked abandoned and neglected inside due to all the work going on! At night we could hear every noise and alarm from the next door room as well as all the outside noises from the train, planes, fire engines right next door, and boats in the bay. Definitely not an ideal stay, but staff was very nice. Continental breakfast was also boxes of cereal and make it yourself waffles.

We arrived early, before the official check-in time, and the front desk staff member, Aurora, was super nice and helpful. She kindly allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel so we could go out and explore, and she even provided us with coupons for nearby restaurants, which was a lovely bonus.
When our room became ready, Aurora let us check in early, which made our first day in San Diego so much easier. She truly gave us a wonderful first impression of the hotel.
The room itself was very spacious, bright, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was also great — the classic Hampton breakfast, exactly what you’d expect and enjoy.
We will definitely come back and stay here again. Highly recommended!

I was traveling with my disabled sister and had reserved a room with an accessible shower because she is basically immobile. Upon arrival, I was told that the room I had reserved was no longer available because the people who had stayed in it the night before had extended their stay one more night. The hotel policy is that people who are already in a room have priority over those who have booked it. Consequently, there were no other accessible rooms available for three people so we stayed in one without an accessible shower. This is an unacceptable policy.

This hotel needs to be updated. The rooms are ok and clean but the bedding comforter came apart. The refrigerator had food from the previous people. Complimentary snacks were nice. The elevator needs to be fixed. Its under construction and while the sign said they're \"working on it\" given the graffiti on the foam board its been like that a long time. You can hear airplanes rev their engines and trains through the windows. The staff was very friendly.

The hotel is next to 6 sets of train tracks and a road train track crossing with all of its bells and whistles. Literally all hours of the day trains go by the hotel. We could hear the trains and the bells from the crossing all the time in the middle of the night.

The best I can say about this hotel is that it is adequate. The lobby and breakfast area chairs are gross, stained and old. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and the staff do a great job keeping it replenished.

The front desk staff were nice and professional.

Some floors are remodeled and we were in remodeled rooms which were nice and clean but others we know we’re staying on an unrenovated floor and those rooms were pretty bad. The biggest issues with this hotel are:

1) there is no disclaimer that this hotel is an active construction zone. Hammering and drilling all day, even on Sunday, and three of the four days we were there, the water was turned off between 2pm-5pm!
2) the hotel is close to the airport and right next to the train and light rail. The crossbars and alarms for the train tracks would ding every 10 minutes starting at 4am, the train came through on a regular basis blowing the horn and the planes start taking off right over the hotel at 6am. The front desk offered us noise machines for the room because there is nothing that can be done with this.

Overall location is great, but I would not stay here again or recommend it to others.

This is an older property that is in the process of being remodeled, but as a result the property often has only one elevator operating. Also, the property is located close to a train and trolley station, so there is always a lot of noise.

I like Hampton Inn, because they have comfortable beds and a great breakfast! I have never had an issue! However, I requested and paid for a King size bed and did not get. We were there around 1 pm to leave our luggage and they let us store them, but could not check-in yet. Possibly between 230 and 3 pm we could check in early. We were unable to do that due to a prior commitment, got there around 515pm to check-in. When we went to our room we were given 2 full beds and were assigned the last room closest to the coaster! I went downstairs to inform I had reserved a King size bed. The rep informed me they were already booked up. No other rooms available. Other people were checking in after us. Said she couldn’t do anything since they were full. Requested to speak to a Supervisor and told me they would not be available until the following morning.
As mentioned, the Hampton inn is always a great place to stay. The room I got was nice, but I did not get my King size bed. Even though, we were close to the coaster, it was still ok.

Parking garage is a scam. Clearly has been under construction for a very very long time. Not well taken care of. Couldn’t find PAID parking for 30 minutes. Representative said “first come first serve parking” but m’am. I paidd for a spot. Why do I have to wait for paid parking spot. Still awaiting for a refund on $60 2-night parking.

The outside of the hotel was very rundown looking. The water wasn’t working at check in and the room did not lock. The toilet ran continuously after the water was turned back on unless you jiggled the handle. Also our view out our window was a brick wall 5 feet away. Breakfast was fine and the carpet looked recently updated. If visiting San Diego again I would find a different hotel.

The staff was excellent. The front desk got me in my room a little early. I really appreciated that since I had been waiting in the area since 10 AM. The room is clean, but they’re doing major construction on the hotel and surrounding areas. Overall a good budget out location, location, location. It’s literally a 10 minute walk to the pier if you are taking a cruise.
Breakfast was above average for a free breakfast. A lot of variety! I am happy with this stay.

Unfortunately, our stay was negatively impacted by a serious plumbing issue. We woke up to find the sink covered in black dirt/mud, making the room unsanitary and unusable. Maintenance was unable to resolve the issue, and there was no clear timeline for repair.

While staff were polite and apologetic, the situation disrupted our entire day, especially since we were preparing to leave the following day. We were offered a room change, but this should never happen in the first place, particularly at a hotel of this standard.

Cleanliness and basic hygiene are non-negotiable, and this experience fell short. I hope management takes steps to prevent future guests from dealing with similar issues.

What you should know, $40 parking per night, no early check in, 4pm which is the latest I have seen, fridge has no temperature control knob, no microwave, my room faced a vacant lot that was not the hotel's, it was an eyesore, piles of trash, broken concrete, dead brush etc. still I would return and recommend this hotel. The pluses outweighed over anything negative.
