Never again. Not worth the price

The place is not up to standard. Very old building with little maintenance. Electrical fittings are old and don't inspire confidence. No wardrobe or mini fridge, the paint on the wall needs a new coat and the curtains need replacing. The air condition unit looks like 15 years old. I switched it off after 2 minutes as it was letting off a bad smell. No luggage store that can be locked. Only thing in good/almost new condition is the en suite bathroom. Common areas are cluttered with old stuff. Thanked my stars I was there for just 1 night. Otherwise I would have looked for another place.

When i did the booking i was looking at hotels in Palermo Buenos Aires and it show me this one for an amazing price after i booked it turns out to be in Palermo Italy. Just make sure you Google the address before booking as it is not refundable.

Very friendly check in person who we also saw out that night and talked to. She was very welcoming when we arrived,booked an airport transfer for us and recommended places to go that night for a meal.

The breakfast venue was also very good.

Other points - check which room you book as the room on the photo of the B&B is not necessarily the one you have booked - you can upgrade at additional cost!!

Room spacious - shower needs looking at as the head leaks.

What a lovely b&b! Full of character and run by kind and friendly people. Shame they don’t do breakfast on site as the cafe staff were cold and unfriendly. Would recommend it if you are bored of bland budget hotels!

I want to say thank you, the Abalì Gran Sultanato B&B is a great place to stay if you are looking for something different to the normal hotels. The services is very personal and interior design is unique.
Breakfast is served at a cafe across the road with a selection of coffee and Italian sweets for breakfast.
Bed is comfortable and clean
Bathroom is clean and tidy with good water pressure.
Wifi - had intermittent issues and needs addressing.
Location is excellent - right in the middle of town with easy access to everything.
Overall a great experience!

Stay with the sultan of palermo!

Abalì Gran is on the 5th floor of a large apartment block which we were not expecting. Signage wasn’t great but Vito was on the phone giving us instructions. When we arrived upstairs, he greeted us in fine sultan style with coat and hat! To be honest I think that my partner and I thought that we had arrived at the mad hatters tea party! It was fun. Vito spoke good English and made us feel at ease. We were shown to our room and left to settle in. We only stayed one night but can happily report clean room, comfortable bed (we like firm mattresses) and the bathroom worked as it should. If you like quirky, this is definitely the place to stay! Vito will look after you well. He can also recommend reputable 24hour car parks which are nearby.

This place is such fun, and Vito is the perfect host. I was in the Pink Room and its perfect for the solo traveller, the bed really comfortable and a good sized en suite - great to have the balcony on the street view too. Its so central, so perfect for a city break, and surrounded by great food and markets.

Good B&B right off main street in downtown.

This is not your average hotel experience. It's not a hotel, really. It's part of a floor of a building converted into hotel rooms. Personally, I liked it. Yet, if you are the type of traveller that expects a hotel experience, this is not for you. That said, the owner is a quirky and interesting fellow who is extremely helpful. The rooms are unique, and you will not forget staying here.

I recommend staying here. However, realize that the \"breakfast\" is across the street at a cafe. It's just a coffee and croissant, too. So, again, it's not your usual setup.

Quirky and fun yet a bit dissapointing

Me and my boyfriend stayed for 3 nights. First impression is super important - here unfortunately was the opposite to great. We arrived, nobody there, randomly got inside because someone was leaving. The person turned out to be a perm resident and reached out to the owner. He did arrive quickly but instead of offering apology for unnecessary stress at my birthday we were informed that it was pretty much our fault that we did not call him earlier. I wouldn't agree here as actually I did send an email even mentioning that we would be my birthday so hope everything goes well during our stay. That was a massive negative at the start. He rushed through some tips and informed the breakfast is actually a croissant and coffee voucher from the local café - would be a nice surprise and much appreciated if it hadn't been for the fact that we did pay for breakfast included and don't think by that expected a 2 euro worth ''meal''. I get that we were there at the end of season and probably he figured that from a business point of view it's not worth to arrange sth more but still... say sth about it when we make the reservation. On the positive-place located well centrally, close to buzz of the city which for us was a positive but for others can be negative as it's loud when you fall asleep. I did appreciate the creative side of that place - you won't find a place like that anywhere else as I assume everything there came from his own imagination. Room was cleaned every day which was nice.

Friendly B&B close to the centre

The owner of the B&B was friendly and welcoming with a good sense of humor. Via Maqueda is a busy street day and night and the B&B is located just slightly off the main street. Can sometimes be noisy in the night, lots of stray dogs which was sad to see but overall was an enjoyable stay with some great beaches nearby (20 minutes on the bus to Mondello and 1 hour train to Cefalu). Pretty buildings and plenty of churches to visit.

Marvolous welcoming creative gem!!!

After a long journey from the US, with many hiccups along the way, accidentally finding this wonderful B&B was a highlight of our Holiday!

Our host Victor was amazingly talented, charming and so full of life and love for beauty which was apparent in this eclectic B&B. I was lucky to have stayed in the sultan room. A remarkable room full of color and enticing the imagination. We were welcomed with colorful hats and costumes handmade by our wonderful host! If you like to try something fun and different...this is the place to visit. Perfectly located to shopping, cathedrals, restaurants and nightlife. I plan on returning!!!

Very fantastic hotel! You cannot find a better one

The hotel is very beautiful, wonderfully designed. It is located at the center of the old city, just between the Massimo and the Quattro Canti. From the hotel to any of the attractions in Palermo is very convenient, by walking. The staff is very helpful and there are lots of restaurants and delis around the hotel. If you want to visit luxury stores like Louis Vuitton or Prada, you can just go by walking within 10 minutes. Everything is excellent.

You definitely won't forget this place.

At first I was a little skeptical about staying here. When the trip ended it will definitely be a memory that sticks out, this place is something special. Vito the host is super friendly, he's an artist and the design of his B and B reflect it, from his wild costumes around the house to the home made funiture, great location in Palermo close to everything downtown. I've been traveling italy for a month and this is one of the few that stick out.

Quirky rooom but nice place

Slightly difficult to find as it's down a dimly lit side street and the relevant bell isn't too easy to see in the dark! However, nice people running the place. Very cool room - circular-shaped bed (!) and lots of retro stuff there. Breakfast not up to much though.

Something different, in a very good way

I booked last minute and the owners obligingly waited until well after midnight for me to arrive. The B&B is decorated fabulously, a real extravagant affair and a great change from beige, homogenous hotel rooms. My room was large with a huge, very comfortable, bed, and breakfast was ample.

Da hat jemand mit viel Geschmack und Ideen eine ganz ungewöhnliche Unterkunft geschaffen. Die Wände von einem Künstler bemalt,antike Lampen,bequeme GROßE Betten -ein Aufenthalt den man nicht vergißt. Der Gastgeber Vito mahm sich eine Stunde Zeit um uns einen Plan zur Entdeckung Palermos zu machen, mit Geduld und Charme. Falls mal wieder in Palermo - nur da wieder.

Lage, Hund und Preis / Leistung sind gut.

Es ist ein besonderer Ort. Die Lage ist sehr gut. Da muss noch viel repariert werden. Für den Preis ist es aber in Ordnung. Der Hund ist superlieb. Das Frühstück besteht aus einem Kaffee und einem Croissant in einem Cafe ein Block entfernt.

Fantastique séjour chez Abalì !

Sûrement l'un de mes plus beaux séjours en hôtel/B'n'B !
L'endroit est assez hors-norme et excentrique (après tout, c'est le Grand Sultanat!), un immense appartement composé de 5 chambres et suites et d'une immense pièce à vivre commune avec balcons. Idéalement situé en plein centre historique mais offrant malgré tout un calme total pour les nuits, c'est un cocon parfait pour découvrir Palerme! La chambre (chambre double \"aquarium\", merci Vito pour le surclassement!) était parfaite, très propre, literie très confortable, clim et ventilo, très grande avec une salle de bain , possède tout ce qu'il faut pour être bien. Certes, pas de Tv et c'est tant mieux, il manquerait peut-être juste un petit frigo mais après tout il y en a un dans le salon. L'endroit permet donc de s'isoler tranquillement si l'on en a envie, de discuter avec les autres habitants ou encore de partager avec le Grand Sultan qui passerait par là!
...Car ce qui fait aussi et surtout le charme d'Abalì, c'est Vito, le Sultan des lieux. Adorable hôte, parfaitement trilingue Italien/Francais/Anglais, et toujours là en cas de question ou petit problème à résoudre pour votre bien-être ,vous serez parfaitement accueillis et Vito prendra soin de vous donner tous les bons tuyaux sur la ville, voir de vous la faire découvrir par lui-même!
C'est donc avec grand plaisir que je recommande l'Abalì Gran Sultanato, et un chaleureux merci que je t'adresse Vito, pour ta gentillesse, ton professionnalisme et ta générosité.

Vito Grand Sultan des lieux,nous a accueilli chaleureusement,grâce à son fameux plan fait à main levée ,en 2 jours nous avons vu ce qu'il fallait voir à Palerme. Ce B&B est très confortable avec une très belle décoration,chambres climatisées,excellent lit ,propreté impeccable et surtout Notre hôte Vito est d'une grande humanité. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter

Accueil, décor et emplacement d'exception

nous sommes arrivés par le train ,nous avons contacté facilement Vito le propriétaire des lieux pour nous accueillir à notre arrivée. l'accueil a été très chaleureux et Vito nous a présenté son logement a thême délicieusement décoré et surtout nous a invités autour d'un verre pour nous présenter les points d'intérêts de Palerme (visites, restos etc...). la gare est proche et la navette aeroport à 200 m.
cet accueuil est unique . merci Vito. Les amis qui nous accompagnaient ont ressenti le même chose). Les chambres que nous avons eu étaient au calme et fraiches malgré l'emplacement idéal du lieu au centre de la ville historique.

B&B in posizione centrale; ottima base per visitare il centro storico di Palermo. Il Sig.Vito ci ha illustrato in modo minuzioso cosa vedere con tanto di indicazioni stradali; persona particolare ma gradevolissima.
Stanze pulite ed ottima colazione presso il Bar convenzionato con il Sultano.

Prachtige decoratie in Turkse Stijl. Gastheer Vito was heel attent en behulpzaam en gaf veel informatie. Vraag hem naar favoriete restaurant en ijszaak. Die zijn geweldig.
