Convenient for Pitlochry, some parking. Good service. The room was clean and tidy but the decor is a bit dated. Trapped in the 80s.

At first look, we were charmed by the place!
But then our bath was dirty (thankfully we brought flipflops), the water wasn’t warm- it was either cold or scalding hot with some transformation in between for bouts of 30 seconds, and the bed wasn’t comfortable.
We also ate at the hotel restaurant and HIGHLY recommend against it. Our food was inedible and we actually returned our plates uneaten. We then ordered dessert- chocolate cake with ice cream. It came out warmed (probably in a microwave?) because it was rock hard, the sauce was stuck to the sides of the plate and we couldn’t eat that either. We ended up not eating almost anything (and feeling sick to our stomachs after what we had eaten) and had to pay for the entire meal

This is an excellent hotel with superb food and the bonus of beer being brewed on the premises. The only reason I didn’t give excellent ratings on all categories was the shower could do with being upgraded and water pressure wasn’t good enough .

What a great place to stay! Our family of 6 were so comfortable at the Annex cottage - 3 bedroom, LR, Kitchen, DR. Great we could stretch our legs and didn't feel we were living out of suitcase. Great value. We ate a couple meals at 'home' as well as at the pub/restaurant at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly, it felt like our local pub from the first night we were there. Extras in the cottage made everything turnkey - coffee, dish/laundry soap, +++.

Hotel with Character.

Room 8 was comfy although the mattresses were quite soft. Be warned when opening the window the top one drops down and is very difficult to close. We over looked a flat roof top but this didn't detract from the view.
Both breakfast and evening meals were lovely. Breakfast room was delightful and airy with a nice view of the garden. We ate our evening meal in the Bar area which was cosy.
Although there is parking at the front this is not the hotel car park, the actual car park is round the back.

Great Accommodation and Food

Stayed at a cottage close associated with the Inn. For an over night stay it has all we could wish for. Praise has to be given to the staff who, when they saw we were planning on eating in the Moulin's Pub Restaurant which was very busy, took our order and delivered our food to our cottage so we would make the theatre bookings we had. All done with no fuss. Needless to say the food was wonderful as usual, which the whole family enjoyed. Although we had eaten at the Moulin Inn many times, this is the first time we had stayed, we look forward to returning.

This hotel is a well-maintained, rustic place to stay in Pit Lochry. It's easy to get to the shopping street. Not to mention, the fare in the pub is excellent.

Lovely area but hotel dated

Evening meal is in the bar that had no tables . I was in the top room therefore had 3 flights of stairs with my bags . The room was cold because the window did not close properly

Beautiful and so fun!

Fun and picturesque place. Inn with regular rooms and small cottages for larger groups. Great service in the bar and delicious food. Short, lovely walk into “town” for lots of shopping and any other restaurants and stores you’d need. Very clean place and had tons of room for all of us. We’re also surprised by the full kitchen and two bathrooms! And loved the local beers from the Moulin Brewery too and the amazing distillery down the road!!

Lovely country hotel

Great location for long walks, 15 minutes uphill from Pitlochry. Lots of old charm, beautiful breakfast room overlooking the garden, lovely breakfast. Inn serves locally brewed real ales and nice pub food. All in all a very relaxing and comfortable hotel.

Great hotel close to town and great hill climbing

Really nice large double room with en suite bath/shower. Floor boards creaky but what do you expect of a place built in 1695. Room was above the bar but got no noise. Breakfast was normal Scottish fare. Nice staff and the bar man was great. Excellent experience overall.

More 'cons' than 'pros', try somewhere else.

Old historic hotel with pleasant staff and nice setting. Tired and dated and needing some TLC but clearly some folk like it that way, so it all depends upon individual preferences.

We found it to be dated and cold. Our room was cold with single glazing that rattled a great deal overnight due to high winds such that we had to wedge paper into the window edges to stop the thudding. The room was cold and heating didn't seem too good but there was a portable heater in the room which we needed to use. The beds were Ok but pillows lumpy and old and walls between rooms thin enough to be able to 'enjoy' the very loud snoring of the person in the adjoining room along with their TV which was on earlier in the evening. Shower over bath leaked a lot and difficult to use if over average height. Towels nice and big, fluffy and clean.

We had our evening meal in the hotel bar and were expecting good pub grub. Not so, the serving of the meals did not live up to their descriptions in the menu and we were both disappointed with standard, especially as we had dined so well the previous night in Drumnadrochit. Again it all depends upon what you like as clearly some people love the food! It was OK and edible.

It seems that hotel rates are quite high in the whole area but would suggest we could have got better value for money elsewhere.

Lovely hotel, cozy feel.

Lovely hotel, clean rooms, comfy , cozy and quiet. Good nights sleep. Lamb teddy in room nice touch. Food really good. Best steak pie ive had. Staff friendy. Bar cozy feel with 2 fires. 15-20 walk into pitlochry however buses run by regulaly into pitlochry. Loved our stay and will return.

Hotel needs a bit of TLC. Bed Very uncomfortable. Very poor system for dining. We stood an hour waiting for a table to dine while people were sitting at tables having drinks only. Bar/dining staff were lovely and very apologetic.

Wonderful and Memorable stay at Moulin Hotel

We were on our first ski learning trip to Glenshee at Scottish highlands and chose to stay at moulin hotel. It's about 50 minutes drive from Glenshee and picturesque moulin/pitlochry. Looking at the overall hotel rating we didn't have high expectations since we usually stay only at 4.4-5 star rating hotels. However when we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised by the marvellous decor and upkeep of the hotel. The staff was extremely warm and polite. We wanted to go to the Indian restaurant and we were given detailed directions to reach the restaurant which was just five minutes drive from hotel. The hotel has a beautiful restaurant and it's upkeep and decor can give a run for any 5 star rated hotel although we used it only to eat breakfast which was included in our room rate. The hotel has a bar as well as a garden sitting which is very unique. We were alloted the family room and I must say we found it very lively, clean and spacious for a family of two adults and two kids. We like the layout of the family room and its decor. The room was warm with gas heaters and were provided with additional electric heater for extra heating. The room was well equipped and very well stocked. The breakfast at the restaurant starts at 8:15 and we were very impressed with the warmth of the staff the serving the breakfast. It was one of the best breakfast we had. My wife is pure vegetarian and she had lots of options to have breakfast. The hotel also has very spacious parking area.

Short weekend in the snow

Wanted a couple of nights away to help us escape the January blues. This is a lovely old-fashioned hotel that delivered a good base. We ate in the bar on our first night and were delighted with the quality of the dishes. A very tasty bowl of homemade soup and Scottish Bonett (giant yourkshire pudding filled with quality beef and root veg) to follow. The locals made for fun company and atmosphere.
The hotel is a bit away from Pitlochry however surrounded by beautiful scenery so this doesn’t distract from staying here.

Comfy, cozy cottage a great value!

My wife and I stayed at the Moulin Hotel with our two adult kids for one night. There were three bed rooms and 1.5 baths + kitchen, dining room, and living room. Plenty of space. The cottage was clean and welcoming. The decor was a bit dated, but cozy, comfortable and very charming. The inn is conveniently located across the street which serves food and drinks. It is also near the entrance to the Ben Vrackie hiking trail and just a mile from town. I would definitely recommend staying there if you have a family. If we were there for multiple days, we would have utilized the kitchen more. The only downside was no wifi in the cottage (but it was nice being disconnected for a while)!

Dated hotel

Hotel is in desperate need of refurbishing. Food in bar is good but spoiled by foul mouthed bunch of locals who hug a corner of the bar each night. bar staff do not seem to do anything about the foul language even though children are in the area eating. parking facilities are very limited even though parking is advertised as available.

All looking a bit faded.

Quite disappointing. Could do with a bit of a spruce up. Carpets could do with a clean. Room otherwise is clean but just looks a bit jaded. Not able to book table for dinner so options to eat outside, stand by bar or keep checking from room. Not easy when the stairs have such narrow treads they make Ben Vrackie seem easy. Room overlooking road which had a lot more traffic than we expected. Shame as very characterful inn with pleasant staff.

I would avoid room 12 though above the kitchen with the associated noise that come s with that and below the staff rooms . Would still stay again though easy walk up and down to pitlochry

We stayed in the Cottage adjacent to the hotel which we did not venture in to as we spent most of our time eating out in Pitlochry. The cottage is incredibly old fashioned and basic inside and could do with a serious refurbishment and brought into this century. The size is good for a family but again, a good revamp and it would make all the difference and much more appealing for a re-visit. We have stayed in many cottages in Scotland and they have been much more up-to-date and we would certainly visit them again. Unfortunately, I wouldn't rebook this cottage again. Shame as great space.

We spent 3 nights at the Moulin Hotel and had absolutely no complaints such as we had read on some sites. We dined in the hotel one evening and the food was excellent as were breakfasts. Home beer was also very good. We will be back.

Weekend in Pitlochry

A great time enjoyed in a fabulous destination for a romantic weekend. Moulin Hotel/Inn is charming and the staff very friendly and helpful. The open fire is perfect to enjoy great, locally-brewed beers and whiskies. Breakfast was good value and our evening meal enjoyed. Ideal location for burning off the calories with a short walk down to the town. The Old Mill Inn was great for food, drink and live entertainment. The Blair Athol distillery is well worth a visit - special attention from tour guide Mr Jeff Power was greatly appreciated.

Molin Hotel needs investment?

Room and hotel very tired. Creaking floors, dingy room uncofortable bed. The Location is wonderful, the beer garden lovely,the bar is cosy although the smell of food does linger. Beer choice excellent, bar staff efficient and friendly.

OK, but...

Stayed here for one night in the family room. The room was OK. The fourth bed was a couple of mattresses on the floor! Thankfully no one was using the lounge room below so we weren't disturbed by noise from other rooms. When given a pass-code to access the WiFi, I wasn't informed that it wasn't working! On checkout, we were informed that they were having issues with the service provider. The food in the bar was nice, and the breakfast excellent, but for the price they charge for the room we won't be staying there again. The bathroom looked like it hadn't had a good clean for a while, and the bedroom ceiling wallpaper was peeling off, so with a little TLC this hotel could be so much better. Great location though.

Upon arrival in our room, it looked like someone took liquid tartan and sprayed it over the room. Apart from the insane tartan coverage, the room was comfortable, but definitely dated. You could feel the warped floorboards underneath the carpet and feel the whole room vibrate when anyone walked across it. It definitely needs a bit of an upgrade.

Even with the dated room, the rooms were very comfortable, the staff was welcoming, and the food/atmosphere in the bar was superb. I would recommend this hotel to friends/family in the area.

Stayed in this hotel which is just outside Pitlochrie. Hotel room was comfortable and with a good breakfast in the morning. Bar can be busy in the evenings as it appears popular wit both residents and those passing by. Good selection of ales. Would definitely stay again. We both enjoyed our say at the hotel and the town itself.
