Location and provision of Garden Room 723 was excellent with private parking , fenced garden and direct access to garden and a patio with a seat/table (nt season to sit out)

Well equipped room with a full, well equipped kitchen, spacious, beyond our expectation's.

Food in Bar was excellent quality and value, food and overall experience in restaurant was 8/10, due staff experience, order mistakes.

Location great for dog walks in grounds and locally, short walk or drive to town centre, which was thriving and busking, unlike many town centres these days.

Comparing to Crieff hydro,similar quality resort but we now prefer the APH!

Check-in went well, staff helpful and friendly. Dead insect on window sill, but room appeared to be tidy, maybe empty for a while. Room has suitable, amenities, but dressing table mirror is too low to use, maybe a lower seat? One thing that was an issue was the heating, too warm even with radiators off and windows open.

We arrived at the Atholl Palace Hotel with high expectations. We loved the idea of staying at a castle for a couple of days and enjoy the atmosphere and scenery. Although the staff and scenic views were great, unfortunately our stay was spoiled by a series of events. First night we went to the bar restaurant on premises and the food was edible at best, also overpriced. Leaving the restaurant and heading towards our room on the 3rd floor, the elevator broke and we had to carry some of our bags 3 flights up (we had two 5 year olds with us as well). Arriving at the room my daughters found 3 sets of dirty underwear right next to the bed. Second day, I tried taking a shower and there was virtually no water pressure. It was as if water was passing through a couple of straws. Moving on later that day we were sitting by one of the fire places when the owner appeared from the restaurant and very subtly told us to go somewhere else as he wanted to the sitting area there for some of his guests. My friends booked the same rooms at the same price and their room was clean, bigger and never they encountered any of the things my family and I did. The staff sent us an apology note and a bottle of Prosecco. Although a nice gesture, our stay was horrible. I did communicate all the above at check out and I was told someone would reach out to me but that never happened. Very unfortunate!

The bar offered a very good selection of drinks including Tennents lager and Champagne by the glass.
The only issue I had was the newspapers in the lounge area had no Scottish newspapers only right wing English newspapers such as the Daily Mail and Telegraph.
Perhaps a Scotsman or Herald for us locals.
The museum downstairs was fascinating

Lift not working. Feel that someone should have carried our luggage upstairs. They did half heartedly offer to carry it if we couldn't manage. The mattress needs to be replaced; it felt like a pullout sofa mattress; Couldn’t sleep most of the night. The place has so much potential but it felt like a 1980’s eclectic decorating job - lots of mismatched styles & just felt out of date. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices but it was just average. Disappointing from when I stayed there 6 years ago.

This hotel caters to bus tours… it’s an older crowd and rooms a bit dated. We were put in the basement due to a large tour. Food and drinks were good but overall inside sleepy.

The Castle was beautiful, but the room was disapp.

The Castle itself is beautiful and the restaurant and bar very nice. The room was fair. The water pressure in the shower was dismal and we we directly above the bar, so I could hear every word in the live music until around 12pm the last night we were there. The housekeeping did not leave us any washcloths or a bathmat the last day we were there and they never cleaned our coffee mugs at all. Although I was disappointed in the accommodations, the staff was very nice.

We were so excited to stay at this beautiful property. Friends back in Canada had recommended it, having gotten married here years ago, so we chose to end our two-week visit to Scotland at Atholl Palace. After traveling through the Highlands, we decided to splurge on something luxurious.

There’s no denying the positives: the grounds are stunning, the architecture is impressive, and there are plenty of amenities. Unfortunately, several negatives dampened our experience:
•Bathroom cleanliness: The rain showerhead in our room was clogged with black gunk. We could only use the handheld showerhead until I manually cleaned each nozzle.
•Hot tub unavailable: The hot tub was out of service with no notice at booking or at check-in. This was disappointing, especially as it’s one of my wife’s favorite amenities.
•Pathway safety at night: Walking back up the property after dark was inconsistent and at times unsafe. Some evenings the path lights were on, other nights they were off. Without lighting it was very hard to find our way back to the main building, and with cars coming and going it felt genuinely hazardous.
•Service issues: This was the biggest letdown. Everywhere else in Scotland, staff have been warm and helpful, but service here felt indifferent and unwelcoming.

Loved this place. It’s like staying on a 21st century titanic but with out the fuss of icebergs and sinking. The view from our room was amazing. The grounds were beautiful and the staff were fantastic. We loved the little museum a fascinating insight into the history of the hotel.
Special mention to the staff behind the Stags head bar (x2 Australian lasses and 1 super happy lass from a Balkan country ❤️

The property is located a 15-minute walk from the Pitlochry Station and is located on top of a hill. I would suggest taking a taxi if you have luggage.

The property itself is beautiful and clean. Our room was quiet even though it was located near to the pub.

We enjoyed walking the grounds as well. Lots of nice walking trails.

The location is walkable to town and to the Blair Distillery which made things easy.

It’s unfortunate that the stay was such a disappointment. The restaurant staff was horribly rude & inconsiderate. The breakfast staff would interrupt conversations we were having within our group in order to “set the record straight” on what we were saying. I informed them the conversation wasn’t including them. The bread at dinner was moldy. Drink orders were incorrect & when we told the staff, they told us we were wrong & we’re confrontational. There was mold in the shower. The restaurant staff seemed to be short tempered with our entire party of 12. We will never return to this hotel again & spread the word on their rudeness.

Not quite what we expected

Upon initial arrival the atholl palace hotel looks grand from the outside. Reviews were good and the photos of what we booked online looked amazing so we had high expectations. Customer service was good. However, as we entered our room it was run down cobwebs in the corner and needed a big update. We were confused as we thought it had already been renovated-however upon speaking to management only the 3rd floor had been renovated. It was not just the rooms that needed an upgrade and a clean the corridors could use another coat of paint and new carpets. The spa was nice until some of the facilities were marked as out of service. We were also told when we arrived at reception that the spa was open until 9pm, arriving at the spa just before 6pm the receptionist said last entry was 6 as they were closing at 7pm. We later found out this information was correct there had just been a miscommunication between spa and main reception when we checked in. The changing rooms could use a slight clean mainly in the lockers and cleaning out the hairdryers. Overall not what we expected at all from the photos that were advertised. Food in the morning was good with a wide buffet selection and nice continental selection. Staff were helpful when needed and the bar had a nice atmosphere with a good live singer at night starting from around 8.30-9pm.

This is a historic property with old world charm. The interior is spendidly appointed with period era Scottish countryside decor. The grounds have magnificant views and are filled with beautiful trees and flowers. There is a very nice spa and pool facility that includes a pool, hot tub and steam room. The main dining restaurnat and bar are both fantastic

A luxury hotel that absolutely earns that title and meets the standard that you would expect. Even though the hotel property is not very far from the town of Pitlochry--walking into town and back is no great strain--the property envelopes you in calm and luxury. The woodland paths create distance between you and the mad world. The lobby full of sofas and stuffed chairs invites a lingering stay--a book and an afternoon are all you need. We stayed in a fairly basic room, but it was immaculate and luxurious, with lush and peaceful views down the valley. The staff are exceptional--we were greeted with samples of the hotel's whisky liqueur, which itself was perfect. We enjoyed the \"gym\" facilities downstairs. Breakfast was absolutely exceptional. After our travels, it was like walking into another world entirely. And the building itself is beautiful. I can't say enough about the experience.

Staying in a castle has always been in my bucket list! This did not disappoint. It is beautiful with stunning views. Even though we had a “fire drill” at 2:30am (rain made its way to the alarm system, which cause it to go off), it just added to the experience and created another memory!!
It’s also great that it is walking distance to the village of Pitlochry, especially since taxis are very sparse!!
I would most definitely stay there again!

We were given a disabled room that we did not ask for which was at the back of the hotel and to get to it we had to go through a very long busy restaurant with people having there meals. The corridor to this room was definitely needing aired. The room had a fridge that made a noise all night so we switched it off and there was no bedside lamp. Otherwise a nice stay.

Reception was chaotic, no note of my name, no room until they sorted themselves out. Given I had booked 4 rooms very disappointing. Bar and food very expensive. Better menu in the bar than in restaurant. Fine dining prices in restaurant but not food to match. On departure given a bill for my room!! It was prepaid to yourselves months previous! Not impressed. Many new staff with a lack of training. We will not be returning.

The hotel is lovely and full of character with huge, beautiful grounds.
My only complaint is that everything is over priced to the point where we ate and drank out all the time. Even at breakfast several items carried a supplementary charge. I have not come across that for \"normal\" fair before. the same was true in the expensive main evening meal menu.
It just seemed mean and greedy. Shame as it was the only negative in a lovely hotel
