Front Desk Needs to Inform New Guests

The air conditioning in our room wasn't getting cold. The front desk told us they would set it colder remotely from the standard low of 21 degrees Celsius. We needed to go down 3 more times at which point the front desk called maintenance 3 times before finally waking him up. We were never told that if you open the balcony door you must turn on the air conditioning again.
We handed our beach towel to housekeeping when they asked for them. When we went to the front desk to get replacements we were chastised for giving our towels to housekeeping and only to return them to the front desk.
When we asked about beach lounges we were informed that we would need to pay a private vendor for them and that the hotel formerly had an agreement to supply lounges for hotel guests, but not anymore.
Otherwise the hotel was fine. We left feeling that the hotel was 'nickel and diming' us.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a distressing incident of fraud I recently experienced through your platform, VRBO.

I reserved a property listed on VRBO for a stay from 06.26 to 06.30. The property was listed under the ID 3718445 and was managed by Éric Melun. I paid the full rental amount via your platform, with the expectation of a seamless and enjoyable vacation.

However, upon my arrival on 06 26, I was unable to reach the property owner by phone, despite numerous attempts. Later that day, I received a message from the owner informing me that the property was no longer available. This information was delivered to me on the very day I was supposed to check in, leaving me stranded without accommodation and causing significant distress and inconvenience.

This situation has not only disrupted my plans but also led to unexpected expenses as I had to urgently find alternative accommodation. Moreover, the lack of verification and support from VRBO in ensuring the reliability of property owners is deeply concerning and has seriously undermined my trust in your platform.

Such a shame , very in experienced staff , everything is hardwork , they’re just not “ on it “ for this class of hotel of the prices . The staff let the hotel down , rooms are average o wouldn’t say it’s a suite it’s very compact and facilities don’t replicate on both rooms . I’d say this hotel doesn’t warrant the star rating of the cost of staying here sadly .

Nice location on the beach. Breakfast offered a wide variety of choices. Access to beautiful beaches. Rooms well appointed and updated. Drinks at bar were a bit pricey but convenience was appealing. Seadeck restaurant next to resort was highly recommended by resort staff but not very good.

Only stayed for one night. Found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful, particularly the barman, breakfast staff and reception.
Not too keen on the music from the bar at 7.30am. Ask for a room away from the bar.

Good stay and even better service. The owner was very helpful and pleasant to chat with. The hotel connects to the boardwalk right next to the beach and is close to downtown Alvor. Would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous hotel - lovely spacious rooms with wonderful outdoor area. The pool area is spacious and leads directly to the beach.

Lovely hotel by the beach

Lovely hotel with the back gate leading onto the beach. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.Very nice pool area with a few different sunbed options and seating area. I felt the bed was too firm but my wife was fine with it.

This is probably the best location in alvor. Easiest access to the beach. The hotel is not old but starting to show wear and tear in the bathrooms. Pools are not heated so water can be chilly on a lot of days. Breakfasts are ok, they do the job but pretty basic selection. Staff are excellent, very friendly and accommodating.

We loved the style of ghe property and its proximity to the local beach. The pool area is very well designed and zoned around two great pools. The vibe is peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast is mixed: great selection of fresh fruits, bread and eggs to order; otherwise very processed. No fresh orange juice (in Portugal!!). After 3/4 years, some general re-painting required but hotel us very clean and staff very welcoming.

I liked the modern decor and contemporary lay-out of the building, attractive and unusual being a low-level height as opposed to the other hotels in that area. Spacious and comfortable bedroom, nice touch having complimentary water a soft drinks available in the room.

Clean and convenient but service is average

Rooms are clean and location in great. Access to a nice beach. Staff wasn’t as resourceful as I would have expected in making recommendation for restaurants and things to do around town. The bed and pillows were not comfortable at all.

Nice modern hotel great location but wouldn't say it's baby friendly there is no kettle or microwave in the room. When I asked reception if I could borrow a kettle or microwave for my stay at the hotel the man at reception answered that I can go and buy one to put in my room which I found was not helpful at all but when I got back to my room a different staff member rang me to say I could use the microwave in the hotel kitchen when was helpful but meant I could pass the bottles to the staff to put in the microwave to be sterisled. However I don't think this is hygienic so I would suggest putting at least a kettle in the rooms. Also none of the pools were heated and it was too cold to put my baby in the pool which was a shame.
We got gin and tonic on arrival which was a lovely treat. Would recommend to adults without kids. Also SEA restaurant is very over priced and voucher is misleading when says hotel guests get 5-10% off as it means 5% which still works out more expensive then any other restaurant and food quality is not good. Land view is terrible as we couldn't use our balcony due to the garden growing right up into our balcony which had too many insects.

This is the second year we have stayed here and we plan on coming again next year! This is not normally something we do however this hotel is nearly perfect and even in peak season doesn't feel overcrowded and enables us to fully relax

Excellent for beach vacations

A great hotel for an european beach vacations. New, modern, trendy south beach hotel like the Miami ones. The service was awesome the facilites are excellent.
In front of the beach, and close to downtown. I enjoyed my relaxing vacations too much.
Only downturn is the housekeeping.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Its right on the beach and very modern in decor. Breakfast was very good with a great selection of breads , meats, cheeses. hot food etc. Alvor centre is about a 15 minute walk.Staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Nice hotel on the beach.

The hotel is nice, very modern. The restaurant was very disappointing, food very poor. Most of the staff are very friendly (reception staff always helpful) apart from the luggage/door man who rude when asked to see why the air conditioner wasn't working. Always lots of sun loungers available.

this is a nice modern hotel on the beach. the disappointement was that i booked a land view suite. its not a suite at all but a small hotel room with a very small front room with a futon in front and the landview is a drag. i asked to changed multiple times and they told me next available but mgmt was clearly playing me. poolside rooms did come up but they always seemed to forget us, the real reason is that the landview suites are overpriced and hard to move. so i recommend it, but go poolside and dont get a suite unless you are bringing a child or two and dont want to spend on two rooms. with 2 adults and 2 kids however the suite will be tight

Funky hotel with great location

Very funky and modern hotel with staff dressed casually in jeans a la Miami style. Very relaxed atmosphere with the dining/reception/bar areas in one space. No formal restaurant but I think there is tapas like snacks. Breakfast was good with both cold and hot selections. The hotel was very quiet whilst we were there because of the low season. There are three small pools facing the beach/sea which were not in use due to the season. The room was spacious with a nice bathroom that has a rainfall like shower head. There is no wardrobe but a shelving unit that includes space for hanging clothes - if you stay more than a week, there might not be enough space for all your clothes, either hanging or folded. We were there only 5 nights and found it adequate. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the nearby Alvor fishing village for bars and restaurants. Golf courses nearby and as a Pestana guest, you get a decent discount on the green fees which we took advantage of. I can see the hotel being very busy in the summer months and would probably suit younger people then. As a middle-aged couple, we thoroughly enjoyed the quietness of the low season and going to the bars/restaurants for atmosphere but then returning to a peaceful night's sleep in a quiet hotel. I would recommend this hotel and return there for its funkiness, location and accessibility to the Pestana golf courses in the Algarve. The welcome G&T was very nice as was the complimentary soft drinks in the room.

Rooms were excellent I especially liked that the hallway was carpeted which made the holiday very peaceful and enjoyable.

I was really looking forward to our stay at this new hotel however was very disappointed with our room - it may be I misunderstood the description however I did not expect a thin stairway UP to the room when we entered the door. The room is all open plan and hanging space for clothes was lacking. Breakfast was average and housekeeping was poor. We had to make do with change of towels one day as it was 4pm and still no clean. Maybe some teething problems as newly opened but would not rush back sadly. Also felt like the local tourist attraction as many people walk past to take photos as very little privacy round pools.
