Reception staff were outstanding. Construction work going on next to my room, and started noise before 8am! Not so great when I had my daughter recovering from an accident!

I had a terrible experience at this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. From the moment I arrived, the staff was rude, unwelcoming, and completely unhelpful. Any questions or requests were met with attitude or complete disregard.

The room itself was stuffy and smelled musty, making it hard to relax or get a good night’s sleep. The air felt stale and the space didn’t feel properly cleaned or maintained.

Breakfast was just as disappointing- bland, cold, and unappetizing. It felt like no care or effort went into the meal service at all.

But by far, the worst part of the stay was the staff. Their attitude truly ruined what could’ve been a decent experience. I’ve traveled a lot, and I’ve never felt so disrespected or dismissed by hotel personnel.

Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else

Second time staying here! Perfect location for a chill/easy access holiday. 1 min to the beach, shops and an abundance of restaurants. Hotel Luar is quiet (both experiences have been) but it is perfect for what you want. They also clean everyday and clean the pool everyday! The breakfast isnt anything to write home about but it is absolutely fine for what you need. Lovely staff and would happily come back again a third time! 😀

Great location but let down by the facilities

The location is great, but the facilities are crying for an upgrade. e.g. the spring in the mattress is trying to get out, the toilet seat is unsafe to sit, no air vent in the room.

The great thing about this hotel is the location and the accessibility to the beach and dining. the pool is great, and the breakfast is good as well.
when it comes to rooms, service, and cleanliness, don't expect much.

Good price / location - Do Not expect anything els

GREAT Location... very unfreindly service - the men at the front desk had a \"I don't want to be here and you are bothering me\" attitude. Rooms are small and need updating. It did have a balcony with a side view of the water. Even the balcony needs repairs. This could be a great property, but is is not well maintained and the service is below par.

I had no surprises other than how happy l chose this hotel.
Excellent staff very helpful ,property very clean, great view from side balcony, priced right for excellent treatment at the Luar! Would not hesitate to rebook again!

Needs a refurb

Very outdated hotel with hardly any toiletries. Pool are was dirty with a dead bird. Area not cleaned while we were there. Old sun beds that felt like they would cave in. Breakfast extremely limited and horrrendous coffee. Area of hotel however just above glorious beach

Great location, on the beach. Nice pool. Assortment of food for breakfast. Wifi in hotel lobby but once connected we could use it in our room. We were on the first floor. Told wifi was only available in lobby, pool, breakfast area. Could upscale their shampoo packages. Fridge in room. Very small, old tv but we were not there to watch tv. Smell from bathroom when we first arrived but comes and goes with the tide and is a city problem, smelled it in other places as well. We either got used to it or were in our hotel when the tide was right because only smelled it a few times during our stay.

Return visit to hotel, we had stayed there several years ago. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Had read previous reviews that money had been stolen from safe with no lock, this is easily resolved as lock can be hired for safe for 1 Euro daily with 15 euro returnable deposit.
Hotel room comfortable, decent sized fridge in the room. Air con in rooms which we needed even in Oct as temperature hitting 30c. Bathroom had powerful shower over bath, no plug for bath.
Extra pillows available from reception on request.
Great location. We opted for a sea view would definitely recommend this as rooms at back of the hotel look onto a road.
Building work next door which we were not aware of before we came but can honestly say we were not disturbed by the noise.
Good WiFi in public areas (also managed to get access from balcony 👍).
Pool area was busy but we managed to get sunbed every day, sunbed cushions need replacing.
Breakfast provided cold meats, cheese, nice bread, rolls, pastries with cereals. scrambled eggs and bacon which I don’t usually eat when abroad but it was tasty. Would have liked some boiled eggs and fruit and yoghurt but breakfast was tasty enough.
There is a bar next to pool which also provides snacks, we did not use this as we preferred to use the many bars and restaurants nearby but it seemed to be very popular with other guests.

Visited for the WSBK racing and stayed a week this year. Staff very friendly. Good bar and snacks menu. Outside pool lovely and surrounding area. Ideally located for beach/shops/restaurants and bars which are all easily accessible through back gate of hotel.

Great location of hotel in Piedra de Rocha, very helpful staff, nice clean hotel.. Transfer of cases too and from taxi was not easy, uphill from drop-off taxi area.

One night stay at the beach

After being in big cities the previous 8 nights, it was nice to have a hotel where there was outside parking along the street with plenty of room for the van we were driving. This hotel has great views of the beach from hotel rooms. There is a nice pool area for kids to relax and play after a few hours at the beach, after waking up in the morning, and before going to bed. Proximity to beach a bonus, a 5 min walk to stairs that take you down to beach area. Breakfast was the typical European style, it was enough to fill us up for the days activities.

Location good but rooms need some help

Checked in for a one night stay. The bar and pool are awesome. Well looked after and reasonable prices for most items. The beds are a joke. Don't even try to move on them or you'll wake your neighbours up. The hotel is in a great location though which makes this one night stay tolerable. I would probably stay here again if I could transport mattress covers from Canada to Portugal.

Pleasant hotel very lose to lovely beaches

Hotel is a bit dated but has all the essentials and offers a good breakfast but with a comparatively limited choice of foods. It is right on the beach and close to shops and bars etc. The rooms facing inland overlook a busy road and are are bit noisy as a result - but the views are really great all round.

Nice basic hotel at good price in great location.

Short break stay in lively resort over Easter weekend. Good value price for clean basic hotel in great location. Due refurbishment but had everything required along with free sea view from balcony. Nice staff on reception and bar plus good cleaners. Fab pool and gardens. Didn't bother going for breakfast so cannot comment. Overall - we would return for a short break

Chambre propre et conforme a la description, literie correct pour une nuit, petit déjeuner bien.
Le bar pour la piscine est un plus dans cet hôtel, l'accès direct a la plage et aux restaurants est très pratique, stationnement facile a proximité en cette saison.

Die Ankunft war weit unter meinen Erwartungen. Ich musste ca. 1 Std. am Flughafen warten, bis ich endlich über einen Umweg ins Hotel gefahren wurde.
Der Fahrer war krass. Krasse Aussagen ( ) während der Fahrt...

Die Aussenansicht mit den Beschädigugnen an den Balkonen liessen nichts gutes ahnen. Dazu kamm Baulärm direkt an meinem Zimmer. Ich verlangte in Folge eine neues Zimmer auf der anderen Seite des Hotels - was ohne Probleme möglich war.

Optimierungspotential aus meiner Sicht.

Frühstücksraum:
Zum Beispiel: Schöne Poster mit Sujets aus der Umgebung und Meer oder Bilder von Künstlern aus der Umgebung.
Auf die weissen Tischtücher & Papierabdeckungen verzichen und das gesparte Geld ins Frühstückbuffet investieren.

Ein bis drei z.B. Intex Whirlpool unten oder auf der 5. Etage inkl. kleiner Bar, verbunden mit der grandiosen Aussicht wäre ein Highlight.

Das Personal ist extrem freundlich und erfühlt jeden Wunsch.

Die Lage ist perfekt. Es gibt kein besseres Hotel hier. Über die Strasse und man ist sofort am Traumstrand. Die Nähe zum Zentrum einzigartig. Die Ruhe am Ort perfekt.

Der Service an der Reception ist perfekt. Die Sauberkeit im ganzen Hotel perfekt. Der Pool wird jeden Abend mit einem Roboter gereinigt. Der Honda Rasenmäher ist nicht extrem laut.

Ich freue mich auf die anstehende Modernisieung und würde sofort hier nochmals Ferien machen.
