Staff at check in were very helpful and offered to store our bikes in the garage if we didn’t take them to our room. The room had a small kitchen area and plenty of space. Breakfast the next morning was good but we did think the Euro 20 pp if you take anything from it a bit odd. (especially for this standard of hotel) We quite off take a coffee and pastry back to enjoy our on balcony before starting our day.

Breakfast lacked cereals, the fresh omelettes were good, cooked pancakes while you wait would have been nice.
Buffet evening meal offered homemade soup, great variety of mixed salads, small choice of meat, fish dishes (end of season -November). The chips were luke warm and soft kept under a dome which wasnt the best storage solution.

I stayed at the same resort in the fall of 2019 and knew exactly what to expect. Rooms were simply decorated, but spacious, clean, with a balcony and a nice view of the marina. It was nice to have a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, a cook top and utensils. Location was very good and so was the included breakfast. We stayed there after the season, in early November, which was reflected in the price and was a good value.

Resort doesn’t have any sauna, no massage center. For resort , people want to have luxuries, like sauna, take massage of body, facial cleaning. This place isn’t qualified to be 4 star resort. I was very disappointed.

We spent four great nights at the NH Hotel in Portimão. The half board option included a high quality buffet breakfast and dinner that our kids loved.

The hotel’s location was excellent— close to the beach and marina where many excursions start. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly.

A relaxing family getaway we’d happily repeat. Highly recommended!

Great location beside the marina and the beach. Easy access to the main street of the resort via the steps of the old fort. Ideal quiet location but close to all the bars and restaurants. Very good breakfast. Only complaint would be the prices of the pool bar compared to the resort. Very relaxing.

Truth be told we were disappointed by this hotel. We arrived before check in and totally understood the room not being ready, but then it took over an hour and half after the resort posted check in time for it to be ready. We were given a voucher for drinks but had issues using it, which eventually got sorted out. A massive music festival had just wrapped up, but it took three days for it to be cleaned off the beach so a good portion of beach was blocked off during our stay, and had I known this we would have reconsidered staying. The breakfast staff were lovely, and there were many options available. We had a half board package and were told we could switch dinner for lunch, so we did and after being told we could each order a starter, a main and a dessert, we were made to feel greedy for ordering and ended up just sharing dishes as they seemed so annoyed with us. The room was spacious and a great view of the marina but the bathtub barely drained, even after we asked for it to be looked at, there was hair on one of the towels, and the tea that was complimentary was never replenished. The pool bar would be convenient but the prices were quite high and the service very slow, over 25 minutes to get a pre packaged ice cream and a pop. Other customers had to walk away from their orders because they were going to miss their boat tour.

Overall it felt like the hotel was more concerned with saving money than its guests. Disappointed. Had high hopes.

From our experience, NH holds every nickel a prisoner when it comes to the upgrading and maintenance of its rooms. Spacious but Spartan. The entrance door was jammed so that it took a full FBI style crosscheck to get it open every time. The sliding glass door didn't actually lock, fortunately as we forgot the keys inside once. While other accommodations offered free port and various other welcome gifts, we were met with fee-based everything in the room. Having to 'consider' a twenty Euro penalty for taking a banana or croissant out of the breakfast buffet seemed a bit harsh. These comments are only in hope that NH pays some attention to these issues and improves. Aside from these annoyances we had a great visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, the views and location are great. Would have been just that much better if the room didn't remind me so much of a 70's Daytona Beach spring break hotel.
Even so, overlooking the irritants, we would gladly recommend the NH Marina Portimao Resort.

The property’s location was fantastic. The hotel grounds and gym were excellent. Unfortunately the room was tired and needs an update, eg bathroom tile grout is mouldy and falling out. One good bonus was the kitchenette in the room, but not well equipped. The most disappointing experience was that we were given a room that we found out upon check in at 3:30 pm that the room had no running water. They kept saying they were looking into it and we asked whether they would move us to another room but all they stated several times within two hours was that they were fixing the problem. At 6:30 we had water: when we came back from dinner at 9:30 there was no cold water which meant the toilet wouldn’t flush and too hot for showers since there was only hot water. They said they’d call us back and when they did at 11pm they said it couldn’t be looked at until 9:30 am the next morning. They finally offered us another room when were already in bed. We declined and said we’d call in the morning if the issue persisted. We checked out early and informed the front desk of our disappointed to which she replied and kept insisting they offered us another room, which they did, at 11pm.

The staff were very nice except for one man who angrily told me to get my service dog out of the lobby. I had just popped in to ask a quick question so I left immediately, however, the lobby was the only place he was welcome other than my room. The man was Jose, apparently a manager. They also did not return my deposto for my garage key.
The room had no heat the first night and it was very cold.
The room was very old and had water damage on cabinets.
It was very noisy and there were gaps around the door so I heard everything from the hall.
The breakfast included was good. Enjoyed custom omelette, fresh fruit.
Prices in the restaurant were quite high for Portugal.

It's an average property and the only grate part of this resort is the beach and water activities surrounding it. The property needs an upgrade because it's too dated for 2024. Also, some of the staffs need to smile a bit because they act like they don't want to be there.

Was not aware that our room was not part of the main building, but was a 5-10 minute walk away. No amenities where we were. Beach was a 20 minute walk away. Restaurant, gym and pool were in main building. We were not told you needed both keys to get towels at the pool. The pool attendant was a bit rude and told us we should know better, despite us never being told at checkin. The good thing was the breakfast. It was really good.

The pictures are deceiving. This is an older resort that hasn’t been updated.. cracked tiles, missing knobs. Marinaside rooms offer obviously better views but also privacy as the inside rooms facing the pools allow for other people to fully view into the room. Luckily we were able to change our room from poolside to marina side on the second night.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was comfortable but not 4 star. It needs attention paid to many repairs like broken tiles, shower attachment not working, knobs of fixtures and fittings lose, broke or missing. The breakfast is decent and evening meal fair. The staff didn’t give us information about the cards they gave for towels - where to get them, are drinks included in evening meal. The mark up onsite ice-cream or soft drinks is triple that of the little corner store by the beach/roundabout so we chose to use this. Cleaners were really friendly but the pool cafe staff not so friendly. We generally enjoyed our stay but over priced and over rated. I rate it 3 star and wouldn't price it at more than £180 per studio room per night if room only.

Good experience overall. The breakfast and swimming pool were great. However, we got the older rooms in the remote side of the property - which were a bit dated. The sofa bed wasn’t comfortable at all and the distance to the main part of the hotel was a bit inconvenient (the golf cart shuttle service was often not responsive). The cost of food and drinks at the pool bar were outrageous.

Views of the marina from our room and rooftop deck were amazing ! The unit was well equipped and comfortable. The beds were comfortable except the couch which my daughter slept on was quite hard.
The buffet breakfast was amazing and the views from the restaurant also amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would come back again.

If you were looking for more nightlife you walk up the steps and not only are you afforded wonderful views you have more bars and restaurants.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. We reserved with half board, so we had dinner, wich was very convenient because you don't have anything in a short distance.
Breakfast and dinner were delicious!
The hotel is beautiful and rooms are spacious and well equipped with kitchenette.
Con: our room (021) was at the far part of the property, so when was pleasent was a nice walkable 15 minutes distance around the Marina; when it was not, they have golf carts to take you to your room.

A beautiful property with stunning views of the a castle and towns on cliffs. Their dining area overlooks this view and it's amazing. Buffet breakfast had a good selection. Praia da Rocha is very close and a pleasant walk from the resort. Their big pool is a saltwater pool and we really appreciated to be allowed in our room earlier.

From the moment we walked in to reception we were treated so well. Special mention to Pedro who took care of our needs and went above and beyond to be sure we had a great stay.
Love the atmosphere at this hotel. Very relaxing place to stay. The location is perfect as you are at a beautiful marina and are right next to the beach.
I would stay here again as this hotel has a resort like feel. The breakfast is also really good.

The beds!!

Overall, a hotel not worth the money really.

On the good side, the food was very good. A varied selection and always fresh, it could do with better signage though so that you know what you are selecting. If there was something not available or not to your liking they are happy to oblige and make you something else. The view from the restaurant terrace overlooking the marina is fantastic.

Free covered and secure parking.

On the bad side, the beds were absolutely terrible. We are back from the hotel nearly a week now and I am still suffering from a back ache. The double bed is way WAY too soft to the point where you actually sink into the bed. My two teenagers were put one on a sofa bed where the mattress was so thin that you actually feel the bars from the sofa. My other teenager was on a fold away bed which creaked so loudly that it woke us up at night and to be honest, I think prison beds are better.

The room was also too dimly lit and the only way to see things properly was to go into the bathroom which was the only room with adequate lighting.

The hotel could also do with offering some entertainment in the evenings. There was live music for only one night during our stay and it wasn't anything to write home about.

The rooms are pretty run down too and in need of some serious TLC.

All in all, a hotel with a lot of potential which is sadly lacking.

Not a 4 star - very disappointing

Not a 4 star hotel. There are two parts to this hotel, one main hotel and then the second part of the resort which is located about 15mins walk (in the hot sun) along the marina.
There are 2 shuttle ‘golf’ buggies which can be used but are only available if they are not shuttling newcomers to their rooms or guests to the beach. We stayed in the second part of the resort which has access to only one very small pool with no pool/snack bar. There were no working toilets and the one vending machine with drinks was not working. There is no receptionist at the second reception so if you need anything you have to call main reception (15min away).
The rooms have no complimentary water, you have to pay for any water you need (a very basic thing), and any drinks you order to room has to be paid for immediately. You are given only one beach towel per person on arrival and if you do not return it to main reception, you are charged €20.
The rooms need huge maintenance work. We had wobbly taps, mouldy grouting, panels loose in the kitchenette. Cleaners did not clean the bathroom. We try to reuse towels but if they need replacing, we leave them in a pile on the floor - these were still being hung back up. Most towels are threadbare.
Main pool is saltwater and chlorine combined and was cloudy.
Security to the main hotel is tight but the second part is open to public and so is the car park - doesn’t feel safe at all.
Just so disappointing as the location has so much potential.

One thing that was frustrating was parking at the marina beach units (not part of main resort). We had a rental car and could not find parking during the day because non-resort people would park and go to the beach, there are no controls in place, and the resort could have barriers with card activivation or tags for mirrors, but nothing in place to reserve parking for resort quests only.

We had a marina view apartment for 2 adults and 2 teenagers-clean and spacious with a large comfortable double bed in the separate bedroom and 2 single sofa beds in the lounge area.1 sofa bed was very comfortable, 1 looked more flimsy but was adequate. Big pool and always managed to get sun beds even though it was peak season. Pool bar was a good option for lunch and had reasonable prices. Breakfast buffet had a very good selection including eggs made to order. A short walk to the beach with lots of good restaurants nearby.

We really enjoyed our breakfasts. There was so much choice. The apartment we stayed in was lovely and the small kitchen was very well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing we were a little unhappy about was the sofa bed, which was uncomfortable due to the mattress part being hard. When we booked I opted for the two double bed or 4 single beds but they were neither!! It was a misleading statement by expedia.

We stayed in an apartment by the harbour and the views were stunning. The location is so unique. We had to waste the children when walking to the pool as there’s no barrier from going off into the harbour but that didn’t make it difficult. The rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel was friendly and staff were great. Poolside food service was great, the food menu was amazing. The veggie burger was a highlight. Buffet breakfast was great, evening buffet was lovely too. The pool was salted and not chorine which confused us but we guess it was normal? 😂 there was only 1 toilet by the pool but luckily we went during quiet season so it wasn’t a problem but I imagine if it’s busy it would be difficult. We would absolutely go again to this hotel. No negatives for us.

Great location and staff. Our room could have used some maintenance with cracking shower wall and not very functional shower head. AC was leaking but fixed upon request. Having said all of this we had a great stay and would recommend the hotel.

Beautiful views

The staff were excellent, any problem was solved quickly and efficiently. The hotel amenities are superb and the views from the apartment are breathtaking.
Breakfast was a joy on the marina deck.
A good all round experience.

Property was clean but dated. Place felt souless. Staff didn’t interact with you apart from one lovely pool guy.

Breakfast wasn’t great. Check in was poor no information given about hotel. Expected a marina view room so we had to haggle to get our room changed.

Pool area was nice.

Quick break Portamao

Stayed 3 nights. Nice spacious room.
Quiet. A 5 min walk from reception and excellent breakfast.
Disappointing we couldn’t have a bite and a drink overlooking marina in afternoon. That space only open at 18.30 I believe.
But excellent in many ways and I would recommend.

Really needs updating.

Room was outdated, cold and was not very clean. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The area around the resort was stunning due to close to water, beaches, town and the boardwalk was perfect for a morning run.
