Dank and depressing hotel.

AVOID. The location and vibe of the place was pretty bad. The rooms were dated and depressing and the overall image of the hotel as conveyed in the listing did not reflect the reality at all. The decor is mid 2000s and the lighting resembled that of a public toilet replete with buzzing fluorescent bulbs. We checked out after just one night of a three night booking because it was so miserable but sadly we were unable to get a refund despite raising this with the hotel and Hotels.com. Very very disappointing.

We’ve just arrived home after staying here and it was amazing! Everything about it was lovely. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful, the pool was great, the reception area was so beautifully decorated and clean, the location was great you could walk into Praia da Rocha which was around 15 minutes. Our deluxe apartment was spotless, very comfy bed and had everything you needed in the kitchen area. The staff were so friendly, accommodating and helpful throughout.
I highly recommend Vista Marina. We cannot wait to return!

My second visit to this stunning apartment overlooking the River Arade. Apartments are spacious and clean and situated in a central location for beautiful traditional villages and the more touristy Praia’s. Staff are helpful and polite with very good English. The gardens are immaculate with swing chairs, sun beds and loungers around an amazing pool. Communal areas are relaxed and quiet. There are no negatives about this place and we will be returning.

We really liked the large apartment and it's balcony which was easily big enough to do our morning exercise routine, then sit and have coffee whilst watching the cruise ship coming in. 15 min light walk to Praia De Rocha, similar to Portimao but i wouldn't bother!

Huge apartments, great location 15 mins walk from Praia da rocha, comfy beds and nice pool, as well as plenty of secure, underground parking. Would be great for a long stay or short.

Would maybe benefit from a bar by the pool (I'd have used it!) and there's not a lot of amenities around the area (quite residential) but a lovely place to stay overall.

Amazing Views and Beautiful Apartments and Gardens

There was nothing I could fault with my stay here. Ideal location for both Portimao Centre and Praia da Rocha and within easy walking distance to both. Views across the Rio Arade to Ferragudo are breathtaking. The apartment was spacious, modern and clean. Pool area and gardens were beautiful and plenty of sunbeds and sunbathing areas. Staff were very helpful, polite and well spoken in different languages. Contemporary communal areas throughout and hopefully the bar and restaurant will be opening again soon.
I will definitely return here after staying in several locations in the area this has been by far the best property!

Liked the spacious apartment with lovely balcony and lovely views. Staff were very friendly polite and helpful. Disappointed jacuzzi still not working and is still advertised as having one. Disappointed that sun loungers are not on balconies but plenty round pool area but no wee tables next to sun loungers.
Miss the restaurant not being opened. Welcome pack would be a nice touch for late at night check ins.

Not as depicted, Pool was smaller and shallow so couldn’t swim properly, gym spa restaurant was all closed and not communicated after booking, my room was large but had maintained issues ie cooking hob missing switch’s and one hob didn’t work, shower extractor fan didn’t work so door had swollen, black mould on the silicone etc

Booked this place based on it having a gym and indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi etc. only to find out on the 1st day that these are closed indefinitely for refurbishing even though there’s no sign of building works ongoing and nothing mentioned on their website. Apartment was okay, shower head fell off the first night and door handle for bathroom the following night. Was a spacious and clean apartment to be fair. Location and view were good and nicely laid out garden/pool area.
Would I recommend, yes if they sort their facilities.

I enjoyed my stay but was rather disappointed to have to leave at 10 am sharp to avoid being charged 10 euros per extra hour. Most hotels are more flexible and offer check-out around 11am or noon. I also had a problem with the washer/dryer machine and even if the lady at the reception tried to fix it, it ended up not working and I had to leave with my damp clothes in the morning.

The place is nice enough with the pool and all… but seriously the appalling costumer service ruined it. They charged us extra for having a child in our room. There is NO room service, no supplies in the kitchen and you literally have to beg to have fresh towels! They have no idea what costumer service is at this place. For the amount of money we paid we could have stayed somewhere much nicer!

Problems wirh refund

We were really disappointed because of the refund handling. You are required to leave a deposit of EURO 250.—. This is ok but since we have to leave early I asked when the staff is there. They confirmed that someone is ther at 7:30 but even at 8am no one was there so we had to leave.

2 days later I found out that the amount was booked. No comment no anyrhing.

Absolute top marks! The staff are lovely, check-in was easy and quick. The rooms are fantastic, large, spacious, clean, well equipped and even have a washing machine. The pool area is very attractive. There is a little supermarket is 150m away away and town is 5 minutes walk, great location.

Only tiny grumble is they need someone to sort their Wi-Fi network out, connection is a little hit and miss. It’s good on the pool side but can be hit and miss once in the room.

Loved the view, location was great, 10 minute walk to city center and 10 minutes to the beach. Quiet, peaceful relaxing. Indoor pool was nice until three families with a total of 7 children under the age of two arrived. The gym could use some TLC. Some guests were very noisy but mostly it was quiet and peaceful. Great lounge areas. Terrible internet connection in the rooms.

Excellent views over the Marina area and well appointed apartment. Thought though that the apartment was beginning to show signs of wear as the air conditioning equipment did not work in the master bedroom and the sofa bed had broken parts all of which was reported to Reception but not acted upon during our stay. Also, one of the cooker hobs kept tripping out the electricity and again, this fault was not acted upon.

Thought the apartment was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed view over pool and river. Staff were lovely helpful and friendly. Supermarket just 2 mins walk away. Just a 20min walk to Portimao and Praia da Rocha. Disgusted at manager for not showing any loyalty to his clients who return year after year as last 2 days of our holiday ruined by thousands of people who arrived for Afro nation festival. These people took over the swimming pool and other amenities with loud blaring music disgusting language drinking and smoking resulting in the pool nearly closing due to them breaking a bottle at pool edge. They showed no respect for anybody and ignored all rules. Majority of residents with young families were forced to stay away from swimming pool. They openly talked about where they would get their drugs. This is suppose to be a family hotel and the manager seemed to have forgotten that. Don't know what festival organisers were thinking of by organising this event during high holiday season. It ruined last 2 days of our holiday. Felt so sorry for the staff who had to deal with them and the complaints from loyal clients.

Vista Marina is a fab place to go for a family holiday. The area is residential and very quiet at night. No music at the pool area which some people may like but if you want some peace this is the place for you. We stayed in room 42 which is a 1 bedroom premium suite. They supplied everything you would have in your own kitchen including a washing machine . Very handy for rinsing out a few things at the end of the day. We had a great view and a large balcony with full sun until around 3 in the afternoon. Rooms cleaned all the time and bins emptied every day. Décor in rooms and right through the building was very up to dats. We had breakfast included which was great just to walk down the stairs and have somebody else have food ready. Cold food was nice but never changed and hot food same but did manage to get bacon 2 days out of 18. The girls in dining area are so run off there feet trying to keep up with demand for tables but we never had to wait longer than 5 mins. Girls always greeted us with a good morning . The facilities on offer were great and a little bit extra than you would normally get in other apartments. Reception staff were just fab and so pleasant especially Alex and Tiago. [sorry if name is spelt wrong] We would highly recommend the Vista Marina for a peaceful holiday. This is the most relaxing holidays I have ever had.

The hotel is in a good location, 10 minutes from the beach in Praia de Rocha and 20 minutes to Portimao town.
Good size apartment, with 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, kitchen and dining and living room of high standard.
A nice balcony overlooking the swimming area and view of f the sea.
Standard continental breakfast and nice bar.
A sauna and spa. The gym is old and needs replacing.
A chill out zone, jacuzzi and pool table.
The only issue I have is that my wife fractured her foot in the 1st day and we were left to our own devices to sort out. Luckily we had someone we knew in Portimoa that helped. I asked if we could move to a ground floor but they said no but my wife struggle through the rest of week getting to the 3rd floor and back down on her crutches.
That was disappointing.
Otherwise it’s a nice relaxing appartment complex.

The rooms were huge and the shower was powerful and Walt was warm - these are probably the only good points.
The cleaning wasn’t good and was always very late in the day meaning were were sometimes back in the room after being out.
The breakfast was average with the coffee machine a complete disaster.
The reception staff could be a bit grumpy.
The wi fi was terrible.
There aren’t enough sun beds.
Definitely not 4*

Excellent modern hotel with trendy decor in reception and lounge area. Very clean and friendly staff. The apartment was large, spacious with well equipped modern kitchen. We had breakfast included which gave a good variety of continental breakfast and a small hot food server. The public lounge had a pool table ( free to use with a deposit left at reception) , large sofas and television. Outdoor pool was a decent size and loads of space to sunbath although there was a shortage of loungers on the weekend. There was a small indoor pool as well.
Hotel location is between Portimao ( 25 mins walk) and Praia de Rocha ( 15mins) with loads of restaurants and bars

We have stayed here multiple times, and always enjoy the gorgeous view of the river! The apartments are so spacious, and stocked with everything we needed. We loved the indoor pool, as it was too chilly for their beautiful outdoor pool. Breakfast was fairly lackluster, but the espresso is excellent! We would definitely stay again.

We loved the location of this property! We were fortunate enough to get a room on the top floor, overlooking the river and the pool below. The room is very spacious, and furnished with anything we could possibly need. We loved the indoor pool as well. Only minus in our eyes was the wifi. Maybe just an issue that day. The manager was extra friendly, and allowed us an early check in, as the check in tine is at 4, not 3 as stated on Expedia. Our room faced the river, giving us a great view! We were on the top floor, so it was very quiet, which we loved. The apartment is fully stocked, and quite spacious. Breakfast was ample, and we loved the espresso! We plan to come back as soon as we can!

Lovely apartment with great views. Love Portugal. Portimao, Alvor, Ferraguda very nice, as is Praia Rocha during daytime. However Rocha is just poor at night! Not our cup of tea. Better to taxi to other places for better food and nicer atmosphere.

Great view overlooking the pool and marina. It was a short 10 minute walk to the beach with a large selection of restaurants.

The front desk was always helpful and pleasant when I needed assistance. I would highly recommend this property.

Unfortunately the 2 ladies in cafe for breakfast really miserable(except a young man who was there a couple of mornings)Breakfast very very basic,and limited.
Not suitable for anyone with walking issues or even a baby buggy,apartments at top of hill.Also another hill into resort.Apartments are in a residential area with lots of car noise/dogs barking at all hours.
Overall if they were closer to resort we would have been happier.

We booked 2 rooms. Had issues with one room only. AC was not working and the lights and tv didnt work at all. When called downstairs they told us to give it time. We slept all night with no AC.

Great for longer stays

Great accommodations, particularly for longer stays. The unit was spacious, well outfitted and comfortable. A little far from restaurants and shopping, you will need a car. Wi-fi is slow and unreliable.

Large apartment with nice view

Large spacious apartment. Lovely view. Temperature in room cold & sparse furniture so not very warm & welcoming. Reception staff a mixed bunch. Girl on 1st night not very friendly just kept informing us of extra charges. Wifi charged per day per device(5 people in room) safety deposit box €35. Spa wasnt open and sauna was out of order. Indoor pool was a plus. Breakfast was fine and suited the 5 in our group. No bar or food service from 2pm.

Rooms are brilliant, well equipped. The sea however was warmer than the hotel pool which made it undesirable.

4th time

So we have stayed at the vista marina 4 times now, we tend to try and get here for our end of year holiday for some last minute sun. The hotel itself is amazing, clean has everything you need and very close to the beach and strip.

Large clean hotel apartment

Surprised at the size of the apartment, much larger than I expected for the money. Really nice staff and clean facilities. About a 10/15 minute walk to the beach and the main strip. Fabulous beach at Praia de Roche
