We stayed at Atura Wellington during the All Blacks vs Springboks game in September, as other options were unavailable. The hotel’s location near Sky Stadium was convenient, but unfortunately, the experience fell short.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by an unwelcoming receptionist, who insisted each guest come to the counter to collect their key cards, despite our booking three rooms via Expedia. My room (508) was cramped, with no toiletries and an uncomfortable, tiny shower.
The evening receptionist was more helpful, offering us a late checkout until 12:00 PM. However, the next morning, the same rude receptionist called, demanding we vacate or face a NZD 20/hour charge. After I mentioned the prior agreement, she abruptly hung up.
Breakfast was disappointing, with missing items like bread, juice, and hashbrowns. The staff showed little interest in refilling. Only the barista was friendly and polite.
At checkout, the same impolite receptionist made us feel unwelcome, sighing when we requested to store our bags for the day.
In summary, the service was poor, and the hotel failed to meet expectations for the price. I would not recommend staying here.

First impressions were poor. Was told at checkin that there would be a 3% surcharge when paying for my room with the Credit Card I had just provided. I pointed out that the room was pre-paid. After much scrolling up and down it was agreed. Blamed on the new system. Then was told that breakfast was x amount. Again pointed out that it was included in the room rate. Again much scrolling and again agreed and blamed it on the new system. The desk co-worker seemed to find the situation amusing. I cannot say I felt the same.
Breakfast very disappointing, Scambled eggs you could eat with a straw, poached eggs, continously poaching in a pan of water until hard and rubbery. All other hot food lukewarm warm at best. I pointed this out to the staff, with a “we will pass it on shrug type of response.
Next morning I went down at 6.30 sharp thinking the food must be hot then it has only just been put out. Wrong. Luke warm at best. Had toast on day 3.
Overall I sensed an overall lack of enthusiasm from the lobby staff during my stay. Other staff friendly and helpful.
Positives. Hotel is a modern, multi-storey building, (great view from the 8th floor.) Rooms are clean and spacious. Location is excellent, easy walk from stations, and to Bontanical Gardens. Plus a large supermarket minutes away.
I would stay there again but pass on the breakfast.

Beware that on some sites it appears that parking is available free of charge but there is a significant nightly charge for parking and it’s not completely secure (although there are cameras). The staff were ok but not particularly friendly and we got a room for 3 people but we had to ask for a third towel and there were only 2 drinking glasses and cups. In the photos it looks a lot more spacious too - the beds were very close to each other. A plus was that it was nice and quiet and generally comfortable. Some liquid hand soap by the basin instead of a bar of soap would be good because the bar kept sliding into the basin. Also some body lotion would be appreciated. In general it was decent but pricey for what it is.

Love this place. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but they have what you need. There was a $10 a day discount for not having the room cleaned daily. Rooms are small and dated. You can hear clear conversations of the guests in the next room. There is no air conditioning, no ventilation in bathroom. The shower is from the 1960s. Mattresses are also dated and can feel the springs. They over sell car parking so you have to end up parking on the footpath and still pay. We stayed on a Friday night and in the elevator was advertised as $10 gin day from 4pm. They did not honor this after 6pm. This is misleading advertising. I would not stay here again and will also be adding to our corporate do not stay list.
